- Hey babes, so this video today is basically just me describing one of the most exhausting and worst client stories I've experienced in my freelancing career + I 'try' to get myself to do my makeup. Thanks so much for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe!

The simple fact the groomsman had a much better environment and had less fighting and rules etc..shows how one-sided and misogynistic his dad was. I feel bad for the bride and I'm glad she stood up to the father in law.
I feel ever worse for you! You just gained a new sub, love your personality
Well it's not just his dad, that's their culture.
The groom/husband-to-be should have stood up to his father as well. Not funny.
That is the price for marring within her culture.
and their "culture" SUCKS
All of these comments criticizing a culture youre not apart of and dont know anything about are showing your ignorance. If you dont live it you dont know it. Stereotypes and stories of specific experiences dont speak for an entire group of people. Just like any and all groups there will always be bad and good aspects /people in it. Dont judge what you dont understand.
"Well, you're not doing anything so why don't you go make money?"
Every parent in a nutshell 😆
Dude... I cannot get past the fact that you did makeup for TEN people. I’m no mua, but I’ve done makeup for my friends for special occasions... and it is a process!! You’re a champ!
I did 3 bridesmaids and a bride once. super simple makeup on the bridesmaids. That was A LOT!!
Ikr!(I know, I'm late🤷♂️) That takes so much talent!
U should do more makeup artist horror stories . This was entertaining n funny I like the way u explained it lol I was stressed jus by listening .
I don't understand how it is the bride's responsibility to pay the higher fee. She should have paid what she was quoted by the other artist, and the other MUA should have paid for the last minute substitute MUA.
I mean, sort of understand that, but the MUA cant be held accountable, the person paying for the MUA has to pay the full amount.
I agree. I think the other make up artist should have paid the difference. If I was the bride I’d be EXTREMELY ANGRY if my makeup artist set up another artist and i had to pay extra because the 1st one F’d up
Or the original MUA should have contacted the bride and let her know she found a replacement and what the new quote was, then let the bride decide. Oh well, the FIL paid anyway.
I mean we don't know if the bride was actually quoted a smaller amount. She could have just been saying that, we don't actually know. Regardless, this makeup artist bust her butt to get there on time to do the other MUA and this bride a favour, she was run around and around and around in circles for HOURS with no clear answers and it was incredibly unorganized. You should never expect someone to go head over heels to provide you the best service at the last minute for your bridal party of 10 PEOPLE and not expect to pay a pretty price for it. Last minute options are never cheap and no bride should try to take advantage of such a service being provided at the last minute.
Agree
I’m middle eastern/Muslim and I can tell you, YOU ARE VERY RESPECTFUL and I applaud you for that! I’m tired of people coming up here simply painting all of us Muslim middle eastern people in one color. Some middle eastern countries have weddings in which men and women are seated in the ceremony together, therefore, if you are a Muslim women who wears hijab, you wear it to hide your beautiful hair from them. If you have a wedding in which there are only women in the banquet hall (like mine) you do whatever the heck you want, however the heck you want. The father in law or whatever the heck she was overreacted but that doesn’t mean all of us do that? I accidentally walked out in front of a few men without a hijab, I wasn’t told anything nor was it spoken about nor was it considered to be an issue just a simple mistake. It’s overreacting that all and the pressure of a wedding ceremony not to mention a big fat middle eastern one. Damn stressful, you have to have everything right and over the top.
I THINK ITS TOTALLY UNFAIR, THAT PEOPLE ARE STEREOTYPING US TO BE THE SAME, BASED ON WHAT THEYVE HEARD OR SEEN FROM OTHERS. This is what makes me, a California born and raised gal , lose my self esteem. when I go out to ANYWHERE because I always feel like everyone hates me for things they do not know. By the way your make up is BEAUT EEEE FULL
I think Middle Eastern/Muslim weddings are so beautiful, very lavish and a big celebration of family religion and food. PS. My grandfather was from Indonesia/ Muslim he was married to my grandmother Puerto Rican for 42 yrs they were the best and kindest ppl you could ever meet.
Thank you for your comment some ppl do stereotype.
I appreciate how kind you were when speaking about the wedding party and how respectful your were of their beliefs and traditions. Great story, I felt like I was there with you.
Nancy B thank you so much. I 100% did not want to offend anyone since this story was just to be for laughs! I love my job, and also love all my clients (regardless of the situation!!)
@@GlitterHearts240 That's an uneducated response. You shouldn't believe everything you see on tv and RUclips.
Nay nay don’t be stupid. It’s a fact. It’s in the stupid religion itself laid out for you in writing. Can’t deny facts
@@GlitterHearts240 Do you have proof of these "writings"? I've read the entire Quran and I've never seen anything that would indicate this. I have proof that men looking at the half naked women in our society are actually hardwired to see them as objects.
www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2009/02/bikinis-women-men-objects-science/
Angelica Champagne what part of Islam is objectifying? Just wondering cause everyone seems to be an expert on Islam when they haven’t read the Quran once, never had a conversation with an actual Muslim, or even bothered to look up the definition of the actual word Islam (literally means peace in Arabic). It’s a false narrative that political media has forced onto Muslims (that the women are oppressed) when that is not the case. Wearing the hijab is not a requirement for Muslim women, it’s a choice for herself and nobody else. Some women don’t mind showing a little hair or have various ways of styling their hijabs. Would really appreciate if you educate yourself about what your talking about before speaking, especially in today’s culture. 😉
For all those asking and messaging me about what I made, I made exactly $900 that day. This was a year and a half ago and now with a bridal party that size, and for my travel, I would charge probably double that. Also, for those asking if I included tip or if they gave me a tip - the answer is no :( but I learned very valuable lessons that day and I haven’t had a stressful day like that one since!
The other MUA owed you money, IMO.
Shoot, 100. Less than I thought. Yes. You gained a lot in experience that day. Love your makeup.
You should have gotten more. 10 people and the groom and the last min and the amount of time. I book a bride for 400. 1 bride. 200 for each extra person bridemaids or mother of bride. Grooming 100.
Brielle Zangari this is what the Arab/Muslim culture is all about. I knew first hand. Lesson? Don’t ever do a Muslim wedding again.
I would never pay $400 for someone to do wedding makeup. Seriously, are you a doctor? I'm an engineer and don't make that much money per hour. Christ.
I love the fact that you forgot about the makeup sitting on your face because of your storytelling. Most grwm+storytime give me anxiety because the person spends 80% on the makeup and the story falls flat.
I once went out the door with one eyebrow because I talked like a crazy person and got distracted 😂. First time watcher and will be back.
As that bride the wedding would have been off for the shear fact that my fiancé didn’t stand up for me to his dad. There’s no way I would have signed on for a life with a weak man.
👏 👏 👏 Yup and probably/definitely wouldn't even have made it through the engagement. That likely was not the first time he imposed on their marriage nor not the first time the fiancé let it happen without sticking up for her.
you should've charged extra for waiting and extra hour just to get paid!!!
I agree! Plus!!!! I would have asked for accommodation for the night because screw driving an hour and a half at 7pm.
How can you snitch on the bride on her wedding day lmao 😂😂 great story
Right?! What was that person's problem?!!!! 😡
It was someone on the groom's side and judging by how the husband to be and the father acted, I doubt the rest of their side of the family is much better.
"I'm sitting there like an awkward freaking potato" I just died 😂😂😂
The blatant sexism in this story really bothers me. Ugh. I can't stand the way they treated that bride. You're a good storyteller though.
AUSTRALIAN MUM VLOGGER Agreed, why the bride did not wear a hijab 🧕 that morning was a real deal breaker, I’m surprised they actually went through with the wedding. Sexiest or not her future Father in Law felt she shamed the family. Not a good start to a future together
I’m sorry this represents Islam. Nobody is ever aloud to treat their women like this. It’s very cultural to be so cruel. 😖😖🤢
Thank you!!!! I couldn’t get over that.
Islam is a disgusting religion that treats women like shit so yea I hear ya
@yulyu it's only Islamaphobia if you're afraid of Muslims, and I don't think Angelica is. She's just formed an opinion about the religion of Islam itself and is biased about how she views it. She clearly doesn't hate Muslims or she wouldn't be standing up for the rights of Muslim women.
This is so frustrating, but I am FULLY AWARE that middle eastern and Indian wedding are different but have very similar concepts when it comes to MAKEUP*****. I have worked countless weddings from both areas and they are almost the same when it comes to MAKEUP****. Also, as mentioned in the video, I was unsure of where exactly the bride was from and it was either somewhere in the Middle East (not to mention that Egypt is in fact considered a part of the Middle East..) or from India, so I was speaking generally*** as to not give any false information. I feel like this was expressed in the video but it seems I need to clarify once again.
I liked your story and didn't think you were being "racist" or "Ignorant" or whatever all the other ppl were crying wolf about....
PLEASE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER MUA!?
the scarf is decided only and only by the person wearing it. if someone orders you to wear it it becomes invalid so no one can decide it.
Anneleen D. V. I’m sure that is absolutely true, but from what was explained to me that day by the bride as well as her sisters, this was not the case for them.
That is the ideal but with cultural pressure we can see it's not always the case.
Thank youuuu
Yup!
Except that a lot of girls are forced to
The bride should have ran away with you and gone to have drinks.
GIRL...You deserved every cent for that horrific day. I hope you included tip in your total to him!! This is why I don't ever want to do weddings anymore. I totally feel your pain and relate and you are so justified. This is what you get for trying to help someone out. I don't know why it always still surprises me that people are such HOT ASS messes, but they are. Kudos to you for being professional and getting it done! Lord I was stressed for you just listening to this!
As a freelance makeup artist who just started doing weddings I was both excited and terrified to click on this 😂 I love the way you tell stories! I felt your stress and frustration through my screen.
Also, I would love to see more story time videos about your experience freelancing, as well as a video on things you wished you knew before you started! 😊
*sees the stack of money* “oh actually i need 300 more”
Mallorie Stancil literally I thought I could’ve asked for way more since he didn’t even question me
lol be like for emotional damage
Brielle Zangari and the fact that he didn’t tip you. So sorry this happened but impressed you have taken the experience and learned from it to protect yourself in the future.
The girl who let you down .....not a friend even now dont pay her a cent.
But is this just a scsm
Did the original makeup artist say why she never showed up?!?!
You are so well spoken, funny, and entertaining to watch. I can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers. I can totally see your channel blowing up. You gained a new subscriber
Rose Joy wow thank you so so much!
Am I the only one dying to know how much she charged? Lol
1000
That’s all???
For that much work, plus travel, my rate would be $2500.
i bet you 3 grand
Susie's Nail Hauls And 50 Plus Skin Care i wish I had charged this much, lol
I honestly feel you should've charged $150 per brides then bride $200 and $50 so maybe $1500/2000 travel included I feel like $900 isn't anything
Jessica Bronner unfortunately this wasn’t my wedding to work, and the set pricing they had agreed on was even less than what I had asked for. I wasn’t going to up-charge her ridiculously since it wasn’t the brides fault - although yes, now I would’ve charged about that pricing for the day but at the time it wasn’t something I could ask for.
@@briellezangari8442 I totally get it ! The good thing overall is that you got paid and also learned from this experience. Now I'm sure you charge 50%- x amount deposit etc which I feel its fair.
Brielle Zangari It blows my mind that they didn’t tip you. Especially since you saved the day....... the WEDDING DAY. But then again I shouldn’t be surprised because I was speaking to the girl who does my lashes not long ago and the subject of tipping came up and I was shocked to learn how many people do not tip for lashes or hair. Especially when these clients know my girl and all of the other stylist rent a booth. Tbh it really makes me mad. 🤦🏼♀️
I usually hate story times but you are so entertaining to listen to!! Please do more of these crazy client stories lmao I loved it
Oh, the flashbacks. I don’t miss doing weddings. Rarely a smooth day. 😖
Your Little Dreamboat cool profile picture
TheLifeOfThisGirly Awe! Thanks!
But what happened to the other makeup artist? LOL
These weddings are so much fun (actually), the energy is great and everyone loves to dance. The reason for the stacks of cash: literally all night everyone keeps chucking wads of notes at the bride and groom (also at the drummers/ band/ singer). It's really funny to watch, just large note bills being shoved in hands, thrown on keyboards etc. I swear I've seen less cash thrown around at high end strip clubs, it's proper bananas.
I really appreciate how non offensively and carefully you spoke on handling and working with another culture. It was so easy and fluid for you, and it says a lot about you as a person. Great video girlfran. I hope we can be RUclips friends!!! I’m posting my first video once I hit a certain number of subs, in you’ll be in for a treatttttt. 💛💛💛💛
I liked the line "I'm not a plastic surgeon, that DOESN'T EXIST!"
i started watching this because it was in my recommended, stayed because you are a fantastic storyteller, and then i subbed when i heard snail mail playing in the background 💕💕💕
What happened with the other makeup artist tho??
Damn your mom and sisters came in clutch tho
Ladyhmcgaga 17 right? Lucky me
middle eastern weddings are always on top with like 800 guest, beacause the neighbors cousin even gets invited 😄 everything looks expensive, but they also go often in debt for weddings
If my husband or my husbands father told me to do something like not show my hair I would have said the same thing to them
I just had so much second-hand stress from this story. That dad is such a baby omg. Can't seem to grasp the concept that you can't force religion/culture upon anyone 🙄
It's one thing if you want your kids to participate in your culture. But what made his attitude even worse for me is that it wasn't even his own daughter!! He just liked having the power to be able to cancel the wedding even if it was the day of.
@@mirsey93 definite power move. So gross
this was such a fun video to watch, especially because Brielle has such a great personality that complimented the story soooo well :)
I came across that randomly but had to watch. Although it had to be so stressful for you, it was a good tool to put in your box because you handled this with grace under fire. That being said, I just want to say that you are such a great story-teller, and had me laughing at how you told it.
I love watching these story times. I have aspergers so i don't always know how to act in a situation and this gives me insight on how I myself and those around me should be with someone providing a service. Thanks!
Holy shit I feel so sorry for the bride, so much misogyny!
that is the culture
@@Catherine3385 fgm is also common in other cultures, doesn't mean it's right
🦇Jo🦇 No, I agree, It is not right at all
Seems like a really unfortunate family to be marrying into, hope the bride is doing alright dealing with all that though tbh divorce him lol
Not gonna lie, Im 10 minutes in thinking "for how long is she gonna blend this foundation for!?" 🤔😅🤣😭... entertaining story tho 😍
Word of advice. I have had trouble before getting money from clients. It sucks big time! Don’t feel embarrassed about asking for payment! You earned it! You worked hard for it. You are an artist who deserves to be paid. People don’t work for nothing! If clients are holding up payments, charge them for the extra time you have to wait... and let them know this. You would be surprised at how quickly, they pay when they know you are still on the clock. After all, that is your time you spend away from family, friends etc.
This is UNREALLLL I’m dying!!!!
Babe you have no idea how much this helped I had a crazy experience over the weekend and this really helped me 💕
This story is so crazy but I’m Muslim but I’m African American so this isn’t my culture but this sounds very accurate and totally believable which is quite sad😭😭
This drama makes our bridezillas' outburts look tame! Oof.
By the way, you are gorgeous!
Jeana Heimer I know this is the craziest story and thank you so much babe!!💓💓
You are literally so pretty I just subscribed 😍😍
Did you say whatever happened to the original MUA? Did you hear back from her?
This was so entertaiming! You are a great story teller!
The wedding cancellation was a dramatic touch ... if he said it was cuz he was mad ... that’s not how it works lol
Imagine if the bride had started crying or something and ruined her makeup and needed it redone too.. ugh. I went to mua school and we had to do makeup on each other all the time and some people with sensitive skin the makeup will never look good the second time and you’d only get one shot. My skin is like that personally.
I meant we redid makeup several times for practice...
😂😭😭😭gurl this was too good of a story time😭😭 I need more! Subbed!
this story got me shocked gurl! btw im in love with your brows omg
This was so entertaining! Loved this. I'm only a little less than a year in and just had to stop doing makeup because I wasnt finding enough clients on my own. I loved your tips video too. I'm working at usps until I can get out of debt and then I pray and hope to get back into makeup because I truly love it and it makes me feel fulfilled.
As soon as she said middle eastern wedding I laughed and said “good luck” out loud. 😂😂 girl I don’t even know what happens yet but I’m willing to bet everyone had an opinion and wanted over the top makeup 😂😂 btw I’m middle eastern and I can just imagine my aunties in this situation
You’re an A+ storyteller, I loved this whole thing!
Just looked at your gallery and omg you are amazing.
Ashley Brook thank you so much!
The first vendors I booked for my wedding was hair and makeup. The first people I paid were the hair and makeup artists! Wtf goes on?!
this was uploaded in october of 2018 but I'm so happy I found it in 2019 apparently a lot of other ppl.
I randomly found this & when you said you were a potato I laughed out loud. That was SO funny. 10/10 enjoyed this. Very glad I found it.
New subscriber!!!
I've been a makeup artist and hair stylist for 15 years and this story made me cringe! One thing that I can absolutely not tolerate is when people waste my time and not respect it!!! You were very patient with them so sorry you went through this mess.
Loved this storytime!! You should do some more story times!!!! 💕
THE best video on RUclips ugh Ilu❤️
love you !!!!!!
old bag: " make me look younger"
Her: I'm not a plastic surgeon!
lol that had me dyinnngg 😂😂😂 so true tho
I'm interested in becoming a free lance makeup artist, can u do some videos about pricing, and growing ur kit, and what u need to start with and tips on how to work on different skin tones and ages? I would be really interested in that, I'm a new subscriber and I love ur vibe, ur totally someone I can learn from! Love from CT
This is my first time watching a video by you...you are so very talented!!!! Your makeup is beautiful and that was an entertaining story!!!! Thank you!!! I am now a new subscriber! Have a great day!
This must of been so hectic lol but sounds so funny at the same time. I love the way you tell the story your personality is so cool. This cracked me up.
I love this whole story - I TO am a freelance bridal artist, and can absolutely relate. But your comment about being an AWKWARD POTATO had me dying of laughter.
As an Armenian, I feel I have to apologize for how over the top our weddings are!! The makeup looks are exactly like what she described for middle eastern weddings!
The largest wedding party I've done is 7, and girl I couldn't move the next day!! My back and feet hurt so bad.
I loved hearing your story. You are pretty awesome! I would have had a complete meltdown.
I relate with this whole situation SO MUCH, as a makeup artist as well... Girl, I'm so sorry for you.
Love this! Great story.
this story is making me so nervous bc im going to be in my 1st wedding and im lowkey scared there will be intimidating people or an uncomfortable setting hahaha i've heard so many horror stories like these! and now i'm like WHAT IF
Wow you are beautiful without makeup, when she said get ready with me, I was like girl you look ready 😂 very pretty skin! I’m gonna try that primer... I have big pores on my inner cheeks besides the nose.
Brown_and_Curly_ NE_Girly omg gurl i started using face lotion with a low spf in it i think its by nuetrogena and its their face lotion and in legitimately a week my porrs SHRANK and my face got SMOOTH AF and i had extremely dry skin wih big pores before so like its a miracle
Maegan Zofnas omg whaaaaa....😱😍you said you maybe neutrogena? I’m gonna be at Walgreens with the whole neutrogena aisle in my cart
Brown_and_Curly_ NE_Girly yeah it is one of thos bottles with “face moisturizer” they have a few different kind for different skin types i just got a basic hydrating one though i think it was like $12
You are so entertaining and funny to listen to!! I actually was lol at one point. Seriously though that sounds like hell! How rude for them to make you wait like that and put you in the middle of uncomfortable conversations. I work in healthcare and hear “intimate” stories all the time😂
Subscribing because I hope you treat us to more stories like this. Idk why but I love hearing these types of stories about weddings.
This was so great.. I imagined everything as you were telling the story lol
Love the makeup and your energy!!! 😆
Girl you need to push for those weddings. You can make a fortune. Do those glue-on jewels and glitter everywhere and you’re in! That was just a ton of stress though. Your makeup look fabulous!
This video had me literally lol! 🤣🤣🤣Just the way you story tell had me laughing! Literally the best video! Please do more!
Btw did you hear back from that makeup artist who never made it?
so glad you enjoyed! We are actually still friendly with each other but never really spoke about what happened during the wedding! She's a great person and artist though, regardless of my poor experience!!! lol
That’s great! I’m glad you guys are still cool!
@@briellezangari8442 that's very nice of you to say!! I can't believe she just left you to do it all and she didn't have the courtesy to tell you what kind of wedding it was!!!!!
Pleasantly surprised to hear from a South Jersey based MUA!
I subscribed ❤️❤️ storytimes are my favorite videos to watch and to make ❤️
I’ve done many middle eastern weddings and I know exactly what you went through. Glad you stayed strong and finished and got paid
2000th subscriber!! Love ya
It’s weird, I just stumbled across you. I’m actually a hairstylist out of Philly and I do a lot of weddings. I just had a baby so I’m staying home this season but it’s weird you were in my recommended videos!
^^^ same but wisconsin and i didn't have a baby recently. but congrats! all of my crazy stories came to mind, too. the craziest was waiting for a bride to get done showering WITH THE GROOM before we could do her hair/makeup. ugh!!! haha
I legit thought you were Aubrey Plaza!
Bless your patience ❤️
hahaha, you are hilarious.
These people sound ridiculous.
Good for the bride standing up for herself!!
Brielle, your hair looks so cute!
Your makeup is popping fr
I have been looking for this video because it randomly came up to my head while cleaning my makeup brushes 😭 hope you are doing well 🤍
The scarf is called "hijab." Some people also call it "Islamic headscarf."
My mother owned a bridal shop for over 30 yrs, also custom making dresses for the bridal/bridal party. OMG, some of the clients she had!
The scarf name is a hijab. Not surprised to hear about how late everything was, I have family and friends that are middle eastern, and they refer to the schedule they're on as "Arabic time". Those weddings, at least the ones I've gone to, are over the top fancy. Funny story, thanks for sharing.
I need such seriois help how tf does her foundation match so well
Lol that was a crazy ass story! I got anxiety just listening to it
lol I love u ur so cute and a great storyteller. just subscribed :) ps you are beautiful!
You are so good at story telling!
This is so frustrating! I'm doing my first bridal party of 7 in a few weeks and I'm already stressed about that. But your story was nuts! I hope they tipped you to /:
The "scarf" is actually called Hijab and it's not a cultural thing, it's a religious thing. Also, it's not the family or the husband's decision about whether or not she wears it, it is strictly the woman's decision and no one should determine whether or not she wears on. Just some lil things I wanted to point out for educational purposes but I'm not the most knowledgeable on these subjects so if someone knows better, please correct me!:)
It is a cultural thing tho
Apparently it's big enough a deal to cancel a wedding over.
Obviously (esp in this case) there's a lot of pressure involved on the woman making the "choice". I'm from Canada and we've had sick, sick cases of young women murdered by their fathers/brothers for not wearing a hijab. I am respectful of other cultures and hope the best for everyone, but am not stupid enough to believe that it's a choice devoid of pressure or shame or threats of some variety and we need to stop blindly propagating such a myth. 😰 my 2 cents
Gemma Weber thank you
100% spot on. but in this girls case, her family had it in their minds that they had to force her to wear it which is completely wrong. Hijab is and should always be the choice of the woman wearing it, not the family or anyone else.
I LOVE this video! LMFAO...please, you need to do storytime, no makeup needed, you are hilarious
