Goodness something told me to search RUclips and I found you because I just received my machine. The manual is ok but nothing like watching it being done. Thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial, trust me it’s a huge help.

You do a fabulous job of teaching! I have a Babylock Ovation that serges and also does the coverstitch. It’s a game changer for being professional with your garment sewing. This Brother also looks easy to use. Thank you for doing all of the tutorials. I wish this had all been available 50 years ago when I started sewing. I’m self taught all the way, but you’re never too old to learn new skills and shortcuts.

Great tutorial. One thing- if you have your tweezers tool there, instead of pulling your fabric at the end to get it out, just use the tweezers to pull the threads to the front and you'll have all that length of thread when you slip your fabric out to trim it, you won't have the puckers from where the fabric has been stressed while you pulled it out from the machine.

I just ordered mine!!! I am getting tired of skipped stitches on my sewing machine when it comes to hemming so I took the plunge and ordered the cover stitch! I started sewing clothes in November and now all of my family members want something. The cover stitch is going to make it a lot easier!

AH Thank you so much for demonstrating the release technique! I ordered & received the cover stitch machine (just like yours) so I can learn how to operate it. I tried following the manual (what was I thinking!) I need to watch my friend Diana!! Thank you for your time in providing us these videos & loving the Ellie and Mac Patterns. I'm making items for my granddaughters & myself. I too love the Discovery tee. I've been sewing for 40+ years & never on a cover stitch, just using a twin needle on my sewing machine & my old Singer serger. Hoping the cover stitch will do the job, because changing out needles get to be too annoying.

Diana. I bought a Brother 3550 cover stitch machine and was wondering what you have your differential and stitch length set at ? I’m working on the crisscross top and I have the same Alpaca fabric you used so I thought I’d ask what you have your set at where I know where to start and then I can adjust from there. It works good on other fabrics but for some reason on this fabric it’s not wanting to work right. Also do you loosen your presser foot pressure at all? Can you show a close up picture of your stitches so we can see what there suppose to look like I’m new to cover stitching and it would really help ? Any help or advice you can give me would hell me out so much. Thank you so much. Tammy

Ok, you made the release of the fabric look so much easier than everyone else's videos, so I feel a little confused now with why everyone says it is hard to release the fabric. The way you did it, would you just start on your new piece of fabric or would you have to adjust the threads in any way before starting again? I so want to purchase this machine but am scared that it is going to be hard to release the fabric.

You mentioned that if we want to use two needles, that we should remove the needle on the right. Is that a must? Can we not remove the center needle in order to get a wider stitch between the two needles? Can we remove the left needle and keep the center and right ones?
