Hi Diana, you are such a ray of sunshine. I enjoy each one if your videos. I have this exact Serger I purchased 2 months ago. I will be honest it's scary. I'm going to watch your video, conquer my fears. Your the best. Thank you for all you do for us :)
I just got a serger from a serger from a friend, it was given to her by her MIL and she didnt how to thread it so she said for me to just take it! I'm so excited to have more finished edges and to try my hand sewing knits!
I was so afraid to get a serger, but now I want one- but they are sold out so many places. Thanks for removing my fear & encouragement that I DO need one!!!
This is the BEST serger video I've seen so far. I'm going to get my serger out of the box where it's been for more than a year, and go for it! Thank you!!!
That was a really good lesson. I have a 5 thread serger that I purchased in 1990 and was so busy working overtime and another job along with my regular job that I never had time to learn how to use it. I have saved this to watch later, which means again and again, to become more familiar with my machine. I will make it a whole screen next time so I can see everything better. I have lots of scrap material that I have saved over the years to practice on so I will not be ruining any good material. Thank you so much for this lesson.
Wow! I’ve watched so many videos to try and help me thread my overlocker.....I just wish I’d seen yours first....it would have saved me so much time and aggravation! Thank you so much. 🥰 xxx
Everyone makes it sound like threading sergers is difficult, but you made it extremely simple, thank you. Too bad I didn’t have this to watch last night when I used my serger for the first time 🤣🤣🤣 glad to know that I did it correctly. Thanks again
Thank you for showing how to use i serger. I've been really wanting one. I have been nervous about having to rip out a seam. It's easy the way you did it. Very helpful
Thank you so much for the demonstration. Because you sew the Ellie and Mac patterns with the serger, I have bought a serger too! It’s not as easy as you make it seem, but I’m getting there! Thanks for all that you do! Have a wonderful day! ❤️🧵
I’ve got the same serger for my birthday last May and I haven’t used it yet because it’s so intimidating! Thank you for your video but I wish you had zoomed in so we could see the threading process better.
I have had my serger for 24 years now and just love it. When doing your videos you always say what type of fabric you are using. Could you possibly do a video on the different types of fabric and how you would differentiate them. So glad I found your site.
Thank you so much for doing this! I bought a server on sale several months ago & haven't had the nerve to start. I'm sure I will have to watch again as I begin, but now feel it's not such an impossibility to begin using it. Thanks again.
This is a nice entry to the serger. I would love to have an explanation of the other controls on the serger. I don't really know what to do with them and what they are for.
Sergers (also called overlockers) are mostly used to finish seams. Look at most of inner seams of your clothing especially knits and you'll see what looks like a zigzag stitch that covers the raw edges of the fabric and locks it in place. Sergers sew and cut the threads all at the same time. The hard part about them is threading (you can use 2-4 threads depending on the model).
Diana - thank you for this video. You keep us calm about the serger. However, I have a different serger (Pfaff 4872 - 5 thread serger) and the order of threading is different, which is okay, but I am not yet comfortable with the threading. The main problem is I have just come back to sewing and I do not remember the threading lessons. I'll keep trying. Thanks again.
Thank you Diana. I don’t use my serger nearly as often as I should, and I’m trying to rely on it more and more. Could you do a similar video for the Coverstitch machine?
thank you this was great ... i had no idea that i could disengage the blade. Do you have a video showing how to adjust your tension for this and your sewing machine? Also understanding what needles should be used with what fabric would be handy
I’m subscribed and just purchased some patterns from your site today. Thank you for putting out this video! I’ve been wanting to get more familiar with my serger. I have the same one.
Thanks for the info! Im planning on buying a surger! Sewing is new for me so i have plenty of tips to learn! I only have a regular sewing machine for now.
I've just discovered your videos. Love the idea of the wooly nylon thread. Would you buy this particular serger model again? I'm looking to replace my 30 year old White ~ Also, I've ordered my first Ellie & Mac patterns..can't wait to try one.
I have that same serger. I actually try not to have to rethread it, so I cut the old thread from the spool and tie it to my new thread and sew it through.
This is such a GREAT video. Thank you, Diana for doing this. You rock!!!!! I don’t have a serger, but I’m planning on getting the brother 1034D next week, so I’m very excited about this video. :))
Wooly nylon tread on the loppers was new to me 👍🏻 thanx you for this tip ❤️

Nice tip on the different thread for loopers. I have to try it
Love the tip to use the vacuum to clean the serger!
I just got a serger from a serger from a friend, it was given to her by her MIL and she didnt how to thread it so she said for me to just take it! I'm so excited to have more finished edges and to try my hand sewing knits!

Just got my first serger and I’m so excited to get started!!
I was so afraid to get a serger, but now I want one- but they are sold out so many places. Thanks for removing my fear & encouragement that I DO need one!!!
Sergers really help improve and speed up sewing projects.
Great motivation to give my serger a good clean
I have that same serger, I got it last May for Mother's Day...I love it
This is the BEST serger video I've seen so far. I'm going to get my serger out of the box where it's been for more than a year, and go for it! Thank you!!!
I have a brand new serger in box I got 1 year ago. This video was so helpful! I will be getting it out now
I can't believe how much owning a serger has improved my sewing! Once I got the hang of it, it's so easy to use!
That was a really good lesson. I, for one, needed this video. I have my brand new serger from several years ago still in the box. You've emboldened me with this video. Thank you.
Thank you for showing how to use i serger. I've been really wanting one. I have been nervous about having to rip out a seam. It's easy the way you did it. Very helpful

Thank you for this Diana. Had mine for a few months, but useful to see this.
I have had my serger for 24 years now and just love it. When doing your videos you always say what type of fabric you are using. Could you possibly do a video on the different types of fabric and how you would differentiate them. So glad I found your site.

Halo Diana very often I use hair spray on my fingers, regarding the light I just order it on Amazone. I order a led light. I have the same serger.
Thank you so much for doing this! I bought a server on sale several months ago & haven't had the nerve to start. I'm sure I will have to watch again as I begin, but now feel it's not such an impossibility to begin using it. Thanks again.
I hate threading my serger, but I love having it!
Diana, how often do you change your serger needles? And what type do you use? (I have the same machine that you do). Thanks!
This is a nice entry to the serger. I would love to have an explanation of the other controls on the serger. I don't really know what to do with them and what they are for.

Love this video! I have the same serger it has been sitting in the box for months 😩
I bought a set of tiny attachments for my vacuum to use to clean, I think they are normally for cleaning computers.
JAN CRAWFORD great idea!!
Diana - thank you for this video. You keep us calm about the serger. I got a server around Christmas time!! I have been using it and have been using a brush to clean out the fuzzy insides but the vacuum tip is awesome!!
This video was so helpful; I just unboxed my first serger & was struggling with threading it. Thank you Diana! ♥️
Thank you! I love my serger but have never changed the thread. Maybe now I will have confidence to put a different color in ☺️
Awesome video. I need to rethread my serger now.
You made it looks so easy. Can you join the old thread to the new and just pull it straight through without having to re-thread at all. Thank you
The vacuum tip is great! I have been using the compressed air, but think I may try this instead. Thank you!
Thank you Diana. I don’t use my serger nearly as often as I should, and I’m trying to rely on it more and more. Could you do a similar video for the Coverstitch machine?
Kathy Mattern there is a new video up for a coverstitch now 😉
I use it you do! I've got almost the same serger.
Super Helpful. I just purchased the same project :)
thank you this was great ... i had no idea that i could disengage the blade. Do you have a video showing how to adjust your tension for this and your sewing machine? Also understanding what needles should be used with what fabric would be handy
