Both of these guys allow the other to speak without interruption. It’s good to hear and watch.
I love the incredulity from Des when asked "Are you on TikTok?"
You two rock! Thanks for the entertainment and info! Also used your code to finally purchase that new fancy helmet I've been keeping my eye on! Thanks again!
Nice! Enjoy your new helmet and thanks for supporting the podcast!
First ride on my Zwift Ride today. I'm impressed with the ride quality and simplicity to setup and also for potential service as you mentioned. It will be interesting to see if Zwift works to make their hub and virtual shifting work with other riding platforms. If they're playing the long game, I'd say they should, but I bought the Ride knowing it (the frame specifically) may never work for non-ERG rides outside of Zwift.
If the Zwift Ride works with Trainer Road, which Zwift really does not compete against directly, what's the upside for Zwift to make virtual shifting work with direct competitors? I doubt Zwift is trying to make a profit with the Zwift Ride itself and is more likely selling it to try and attract new subscribers and retain existing subscribers.
@@SecondPlaceInTheGeneticLottery Good point and I think you may be right. The upside would be greater sales of the ZR, but Zwift's interested in selling the ZR to secure more long-term Zwift subscribers, not maximizing units sold.
Amusingly RUclips gave me an advert while Des was talking about the advantages of RUclips premium…
I got a Kickr Bike about 6 months ago, very happy with it but if I was buying today I’d be buying the Zwift setup for sure… you get everything that you really need for a fraction of the price
6 years ago, thanks to the DCR review of the Spartan Trainer Wrist HR, I went for one. It was the most bang-for-the-buck triathlon-ready watch in the market and had an excellent uncluttered user interface. Its Valencell OHR was decent for its time.
Ever since then, all succeeding Suuntos were never as compelling. They all had drawbacks vs Garmin and Coros watches of the same price point. Until the Race came along.
And now, this Race S simply blows the competition out of the water at that price point and honestly, I'm at a point where I feel like this is a worthy replacement for my aging and now-buggy Spartan Trainer Wrist HR.
Suunto is back in the game and I'm extremely glad they are!
Suunto thanks for model Race S ❤
Recharging a chest heart rate monitor? No thanks. Polar H10 is the best
Rechargable is a huge negative in my book
Regarding the Tickr chest strap. I found that when it was new I had to moisten the contact pads else it wouldn’t start monitoring.
amazing!!
I learned something watching this video. I have a Tickr HR Strap and a Garmin HR Strap. I wasn't aware that there was a problem with the Tickr only that it would stop working all the time. I thought it was my body just didn't make good contact with the sensors in the strap. I bought a Garmin strap which works better. I can now toss the Tickr in the bin knowing it is a POS. My Garmin EPIX Pro watch doesn't work so well when I'm riding the bike either.
Me, too. Even bought a new Tickr thinking my first one was too old. New one didn't work consistently either. (The first one worked great for several years, but then . . . The new one had problems from start.) Finally, bought a Polar out of frustration. The Polar works consistently. I'm glad that I have a working monitor; I'm hacked that I have two Wahoo monitors that are wonky.
Ordered the Race S to replace my instinct 2
RUclips allowed Garmin to put RUclips Music on their watches to encourage users to subscribe to RUclips premium. Easy business decision for RUclips to make.
So if the TRACKR only does HR, it is probably better to compare prices with HRM Dual on Garmin side, and the official price there is $69.99. Regarding battery life... I love battery life. I had Instincts and now an Enduro 2. But still.. I think we got to the point, where most of the gadgets for most of the people have enough battery life. Selling a watch/bike computer with battery life as a main feature was possible 10 years back, but now.. Maybe if someone can reproduce "MIP battery hours" with Amoled displays . Anyhow, thanks for the episode, was fun listening to it and looking for the next one 🙂
Omg.. so while streaming wser100 if I had the RUclips subscription I could have turned my screen off ?!!. That was a nightmare keeping the screen on this weekend haha
Can you put a different trainer on the Zwift Ride (say down the road if you wanted to exit the Zwift ecosystem) ?
Using a phone as a bike computer does not mean you need to bu an iPhone.. Smartphone does not mean iPhone - and you could buy a smartphone for that use only. You can get quite capable phones waaaaayyy less than 800$.. Smartphones are actually designed to have their GPS on all the time.. The big issue is not this - it is battery life with screen always on, and overheating in warm sunny conditions with screen allways on.
I personally think the only reason phones as bikecomputers does not catch on, is the fact that biking is what we in my country would call an "equipment sports"... The brands and expensive equipment and its specs are more or just as important than the sport itself..
What front mount do you use for your 1050?
I use the K-Edge XL Mount (Ray), on two bikes. Works great.
I was gonna buy 965, but now I will buy Race S..
In the next 2-3 Garmin Edge 1060 should have microphone. The microphone will allow you to never use the keyboard again. On top of this, the Garmin should have some additional AI features.
You don't need youtube premium to listen to youtube videos with the screen off. At least on iPhones, you just put the video in picture in picture mode, then swipe down from the top to bring the menu screen down which will auto-pause the video. All you have to do is press play on that same menu screen and you can then turn off the screen and it will keep playing. RUclips does not let you play music videos in picture and picture mode, so it won't work for that, but everything else works just fine.
Interesting, I’ve had YT premium even before PnP so didn’t know about that little hack.
@@thefitfile Not a big deal. I was just listening to the podcast that way when you said that, so I thought maybe that tip would be helpful.
both of you look like you wear two watches, headphones, a heart rate monitor and a sleep tracker when you have baths!
when standalone zwift ride
The only thing Zwift are saying is "sometime in the fall"
