@Deepboy666 I guess chances of catching the virus are much much higher in Italy than somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the UK. Also, I live 40km away from Germany's first epicenter and yet there are 0 cases in my village and less than 50 cases in the next bigger city and since the virus is not airborne I guess you really have to be in contact with a person having it in order to contract it. I'm glad I stopped working on time (went on holidays on March 1) otherwise I would have 100% gotten it.

Sam Leitch that’s bc the trainers have constant resistance while riding outside on your bike doesn’t. Unless you’re climbing uphill for 24 hours you’re not going to replicate the resistance.

    • @brandonclark8736
      @brandonclark8736 4 года назад

Hours outside, free with the wind vs inside on the torture rack.
      I can't stand it.
I've actually cancelled my Zwift because it was so depressing. Now I just use simple (non-game) training apps to get my workout in. If it's cold and I want to ride, then I'm bundling up and riding, even in the snow.
This is so crazy. I hope he doesn't keep doing this stuff too often, because he'll crack eventually.

Well done Hank, an epic challenge nailed. My anti boredom trick for long zwift sessions is audio books; if you are engaged enough by the story then the minutes don't matter. I also have a few minutes (3/4) off the bike every 90 minutes to stretch and move my body about. If I was trying for 24 hours then I would get off for 3 minutes every hour and start from the beginning when you are fresh, however my dodgy knees wouldn't take 24 hours even if the rest of me could (and it probably can't).

600+ Km in 24 hours. EPIC. Well done, Sir.
So, now what? The Paris-Brest-Paris? 1200 Km. Record is 42 hours 26 minutes.
Next one is 2023. Got 3 years to train.

In order to get in one must prove that one can ride 300k and 600k I think and within a set period of time from the event. I think Hank was to early for this to matter in registering :-(

I was going to give thumbs up as this required an immense amount of mental toughness...and then whoop has been mentioned at the very end and it totally killed it for me.

I think Mark B. had the best advice. start steady and stay steady. 24 hours is a long ass time, however I will be doing some of those efforts in the future for a hopeful 2021TABR effort.

soooo happy to watch this, missing the cycling season so bad!!! (knew George when he was a junior in NYC and sponsored by Toga, and cried in the car on the way to work Sunday afternoon (opera matinee in NYC) when Lemond won the Tour first time. So glad we have access to so much old footage and enjoying the commentary!! Lance, black socks were always a better look for you, lololol

    Great work.
Next year you should have a team and take to Norway for Den Store Styrkeprøven.
    From Trondheim to Oslo.
    540 km.
I would love to see you do that.
If you keep the same average speed as Hank did here then you should be able to do a respectable time.
Record at the moment is 13h 34min 29sec.
    Hank you are a legend.
    Great video.
    Thanks for the entertainment.

      @@XX-is7ps yes i know.
But i still think it would be fun to see them put together a team og GCN representers and give it a go.
The record was set by a team of 22 from the same club.
So they can put it all of the representers if they want.
From US, Italy, Spain, Germany and UK.
I think they would det a desenct time.
Not a record but a good time.

I agree, it'd be fun if GCN fielded a RAAM team and Si could let his hair get crazy and drive the Chevy van. And I'd cheer for them as the route is, literally, a quarter-mile from my apartment in Central Pennsylvania. But I wouldn't expect them to notice me as this is near the end and by the time the competitors get here, they are pretty much toast. Like a few years ago, Christoph didn't even take his eyes off the road when I stepped off the curb with cheers and applause outside the local McDonald's on Route 16. He probably thought, man, I don't have any time for that kook. And I was okay with it, he was in the zone and soon another victory would be his. And that whole RAAM deal is amazing, tho' I'd prefer that each day be treated as a personal stage, each start at the same time in the morn and close with the same bedroll time. I'm not a fan of riding on public roads without sleep.
