Sometimes watching the videos distract from listening to the song ! Pay no attention to what you see only to what you hear ! This is the kind of song you listen to in total darkness so that you have no visual distractions ! This is a beautiful song that was brutally butchered with all the stops on the visuals !
The lyrics in the background are sung by the great Senegalese performer Youssou N'Dour. He's singing in Wolof. It is spoken in parts of Senegal, Mauritania, and the Gambia.
Grew up on Peter Gabriel, to this day I love his voice. His videos were always a freaking trip. Red Rain might be my favorite song of his, still don't know why.
I remember vividly when this song came out in the mid-'80s. I loved this song at first listen, and all these decades later, it is my absolute favorite song of all time. Music videos from the '80s could be quite the trip. I loved growing up during that time, for sure! Great reaction as always!!!
I dig your reactions but try not to get so caught in the videos that you’re not hearing the song. Peter Gabriel’s videos were always odd but this song is phenomenal. In the’80s movie Say Anything John Cusak stood outside his girl’s window holding a boom box over his head that was playing this song. Cinema gold!
@@melissabritt1927 If you haven't seen it, give yourselves a Birthday present and watch the Live version of this song from the Secret World concert. Perfectly joyful!!
I was very happy that you didn't choose the Secret World Live version, which is the one most reactors choose-it's good, but I liked the original better. But you didn't seem to want to pay attention to the song. You might want to just pull up a lyric video instead since the video is distracting.
I really want you to listen to the music and not be so distracted by the video. Which his (Peter Gabriel) videos can definitely be on the bizarre side. Usually not really related to the meaning of the song. Just eye candy for MTV. Those of us that grew up on this music first heard it from the radio. No visuals to distract. Then MTV came and we watched the fun videos but we already had a strong attachment to the songs. They weren’t new to us at that time. You are doing both at the same time and for some reason I want reactors to just listen first. Videos later. Just my two cents.
I have loved and appreciated you for a long time, but you did this song a disservice. This song was an anthem to people who knew it when it came out. I feel so much emotion whenever I hear this, and was excited to hear you hear this. You stopped the song to talk about what old movie was in it, what Halloween candy you remember from childhood, and how to unblur the picture, among other things. You did NOT get the spirit and emotion this song gives out. Maybe you shouldn’t watch the videos, sometimes they have nothing to do with the song.
“You did not get the spirit” … who are you to tell him what he should get from a single?! Who are you to force him to view something the exact way you do?! AB is free to watch, listen and take away anything he wants from a song. AB the video was great as usual. Keep doing what you do
You can’t expect everyone to experience the same emotions you do. It’s disheartening to see reactors share their authentic reactions to unfamiliar content, only to receive comments like yours criticizing them for not having the same feelings you did (especially to music that's not from their era).
I stand behind AB 100% as one of his official OGs. AB is a music reactor. This is his genuine reaction to this song. He did no disservice to this song or Peter Gabriel whatsoever. This video IS distracting in Peter Gabriel’s usual artistic dystopian style. I love this song, but I respect that other people may not, or be ambivalent towards it. If you “have loved and appreciated” AB for a long time then you know he stops and makes observation reactions regularly through all his content. Good grief, who made you the music emotion reaction police? Move along.
What you are saying about people having different opinions also applies to me. I can have and voice my opinion and should not be told what I can say or not say. Does it mean I don’t like AB, or his reaction videos? Not at all. This is the first time I’ve written anything that wasn’t high praise. Do I think he watched the video and got so distracted that he didn’t really listen? YES. Was I upset because I wanted him to love it as much as I do? Yes. Will I stop listening to his reaction videos because of this? No, and if I did, it would be because of your reactions to me voicing my opinion, and will have nothing to do with AB.
The hardest thing about watching reaction videos is the reactor too busy reacting to the video and not the song. Dude you're reacting to a song, the video itself is irrelevant unless it's a live version. As for this song-- listen to the lyrics and the music... This is a great song and you're missing it.
Is there a rule that reactors can only react to the song and not the music video? It's a blind reaction, so how are reactors supposed to know what is irrelevant?
@@NancyColis I guess my argument is in the title... First time "listening to" Peter Gabriel's in your eyes" then he reacted to the video--not really the song--imho.
Frozenharold sounds like you have a fun existence. Shouldn’t you be out yelling at some kids to get off your lawn?Move along and haunt someone else’s channel. Good grief.
You need to see the live version that others have mentioned. It's beautiful.
The best version of this song is from Secret World Live, so many great musicians and artists.
I disagree. The best version is the one on the album, because it has Youssou N'Dour. Papa Wemba is great, but Youssou N'Dour was the original
It's a good version, but it's not the best.

Say Anything!!!
One of my favorite voices of my lifetime. His lyrics are just beautiful and so full of feeling. I love Peter Gabriel.
Agreed. His voice and music are amazing and very distinctive.
Most people my age first heard this song in a John Cusack movie called "Say Anything." Pretty iconic Gen X movie, that.

This is awesome but you need to react or just watch for yourself the live version ❤🎉 Its a whole stage of performance
"THANK YOU" FOR THIS THROWBACK!!!...WAS A TEEN WHEN THIS WAS OUT!!...LOVE THIS SONG!!❤❤❤
Peter Gabriel is amazing. His videos always grab your attention.
You should watch the live version. I saw him in Philly. Awesome
Thank you.
For Peter Gabriel, please listen to his duet with Kate Bush, "Don't Give Up."
Are you TRYING to make AB cry???
@@keliarmstrong8532 That was not my intention, but I can see why you might think that.
I grinned when you said "Peter, talk to me". He has another great song called exactly "Come Talk to Me".
You would really enjoy the live performance - it's even better. :)
I wish you would have done the live one…so good!
Still one of my favorite songs ❤

P Gabriel was the original singer of Genesis
Do the secret world live video
One of my top 10 songs.I’ve never seen the video. Probably a good thing I just listened to the lyrics.
I love Peter Gabriel. I grew up on 80s electro pop. Toto is another great band. I saw them last year live.
Classic album. This is an iconic track.
This is the soundtrack from the movie Say Anything. You have to watch it is fantastic. ❤
AB, since you liked the original, I bet you will love Peter's live performance of this: ruclips.net/video/evN6DIGPIJM/видео.htmlsi=trlbCTEshnFKbzXf
