Hey JM the female vocalist is Paula Cole , the bass player is the legendary Tony Levin and on drums you have Omar Hakim who has played with Sting as well as others. Peter had a band of stellar musicians on this tour. Do yourself a favor and watch the whole concert it is 🔥🔥🔥.
This was during a time where the concept of World Music arose.so this is what you're seeing here, influences, instruments , language from everywhere. A cool time in music. I want to say 1990's, I think it was.
you picked the right version, imho. this whole concert is fire. another fantastic performance from this concert that features more of paula cole is "don't give up".
Secret World Live contains the best versions of just about all of his hits. I wish wish wish I was into him then and went to that show. I love how he gives the spotlight to the other musicians. Part of his greatness. My suggestion: do "Solisbury Hill" the version from the David Letterman show. OMG that's fabulous.
Peter Gabriel has a lot of incredible songs. His videos are strange, but in an artistic way. There are other live versions of this song, but this one is my favorite. "Games Without Frontiers" "Shock the Monkey" "Solsbury Hill" "Sledgehammer" "Big Time". Just try not to figure out the videos. lol!
My favorite song from Peter Gabriel. He is a very unique artist and made some interesting videos to accompany his tunes. This song has a great grove, so I grab a set of bongos... Thanks.
A literal masterpiece,a meld of culture, passion, and joy! Another song that hits just like this is Mumford and Son with Baaba Maal singing Thete Will Be Time live in South Africa! A must!

I am glad that you gave a spiritual interpretation because Gabriel does deeply spiritual music. This entire concert should be viewed. It is unlike anything else that you will ever see. Also check out a song that he did called "Sky Blue" an incredible song that Peter did in the early 2000's. Gabriel is a pioneer and organizer of WORLD MUSIC - a genre that mixes western music with other musical influences from different cultures from across the globe. He is a world treasure that doesn't get the recognition that he deserves.
Peter Gabriel is a legend who got his start with Genesis and when he left for his solo career the legend known as Phil Collins took over as lead singer. Peter is a strange man but so so very talented. And he works in a lot of world music into his tunes. I first heard this song when I was a preteen in the movie Say Anything when John Cusack stood outside his girlfriend’s house with a boombox blasting this song. Alllllll the way back in the 80s. Some other great songs he does are Shock The Monkey, Solsbury Hill, Sledge Hammer, Big Time. Check out his Genesis tunes too
I was so fortunate to see him live a few months ago at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX....It was something I really cannot place in the comments....it would turn into a novel.
I had the absolute pleasure to see the Secret World Tour concert in Vancouver BC years ago. One of the best concerts I have ever seen. Two separate stages. It was spectacular.
I don't remember the details but I'm pretty certain Paula Cole was a replacement who had joined the touring band only a couple of days before this was filmed. Baptism by fire and she killed it.
Really enjoyed your reaction to this!! I actually just saw Peter Gabriel in Austin 3 months ago!!! It was a fantastic show!! He has a treasure full of music to listen to!!
Great performance and nice input from Paula Cole, who in the same concert also did the ‘Don’t Give Up’ duet with Peter (Kate Bush did the original duet recording with Peter but no longer performed live at this time).
According to Peter Gabriel himself , the lyrics of In Your Eyes , which are inspired by the African tradition , can either refer to a romantic relationship between a man and a woman or a divine relationship between someone and his God. Many people think it is about his relationship with former girlfriend actress Rosanna Arquette
Peter Gabriel, Peter the Great. Took his studio version (video) and expanded it in this live version (best live version by the way); to a total Broadway production with a wailing violin, i beautiful female vocalist, and a African vocalist with back up vocals dancing to the groove of the song. Fabulous Live Rendition
Wow. Thank you for this reaction. I've never seen this performance. I have always loved this song, but this was so incredible. Peter Gabriel was a great artist. I feel he was always under estimated. Great job!
I requested this to all reactors reacting to this masterpiece live performance. Please react to " Shaking the Tree" from same performance. it's a song of the tree of knowledge, and Eve....I'm broke, a subscriber, and just a dude. But really think you would enjoy as much. ,✌️
whenever I watch this I think Tony Levin's white knee pads make as much sense on him as they would a giraffe..... if either of them actually went down on their knees they'd never get back up.
To me, a reaction video is no just bobbing your head. There is so much going on here, and it is amazing. You pulling God into this - well… This is an amazing lovesong, however you put it. It is absolutely fair, that you give your feedback on the song for the first time, but I would expect some proper background checking to get a proper feedback/reaction - especially given the fact that you are a musician. Maybe learn the name of who are involved - the performers - for a start. But maybe that is just me.
The song done in studio is amazing by itself but this performance is pure joy for any soul
Especially when you are lucky enough to see it live!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm always lifted up watching this performance✨
I could watch this every day!
It’s the world I want live in.
Us humans need more of this kind of art. Thanks for reacting to it

Manu Katché on drums.
@@MrMondo-xf2ji Yes thanks i don't know why i was thinking of Omar. I think they've both played with Sting.
...Paula Cole SHOWS HOW IT'S DONE, with just Two Powerful, PURE moments on her mic

and Shaking the Tree 🤘🏽
If we had to pick one video to represent humanity, I nominate this one. We don’t get much better as a species than this.
I thought I was the only person to make the God connection with this song. Loved your response.
Peter Gabriel is one of the most under appreciated musical geniuses of the past 50 years.
This man and his incredible band were the final act of the 25th anniversary of Woodstock in 1994...such an incredible performance.
This is a masterpiece of music, culture, and harmonious love❣🎙🎶🤩

Gabriel was huge back in the late 80's early 90's
Fantastic artist all the way around.
I love this guy's songs bro. He came from the band Genesis. He has unique songs. Enjoy brother
My favorite song from Peter Gabriel. He is a very unique artist and made some interesting videos to accompany his tunes. This song has a great grove, so I grab a set of bongos... Thanks.
My fav! Love Peter and Paula Cole on this tour with him! One of the best "ARTISTIC" concert ever!!
A literal masterpiece,a meld of culture, passion, and joy! Another song that hits just like this is Mumford and Son with Baaba Maal singing Thete Will Be Time live in South Africa! A must!

like it 'specially because papa wemba is there
I've heard this song hundreds and hundreds of times, but this was something special.
This whole show is amazing.. 🔥🔥
Peter Gabriel was with Genesis before he launched a long and successful solo career. At the time they had two singers, the other being Phil Collins.
performance in the round, no lip sync, and lighters. Cmon man.😂
Do people even remember the lighters in concerts!!
African music is sooo beautiful.
Listening to Salif Keita yesterday for the first time in a few years, and was totally knocked out again it is soooo beautiful.
Music just doesn’t get any better than that, simply perfection from everyone ❤.
That whole concert is fire, one of my fave live shows ever. I always end up crying joyful tears every time I watch that concert.

Live is nearly always best with Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, and Genesis. Such powerful music.
Only artist I've seen 3 times! Love old Genius with Gabriel. Love solo Gabriel.
I was so fortunate to see him live a few months ago at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX....It was something I really cannot place in the comments....it would turn into a novel.
The live version was the perfect way to see and listen to this song!👍🏻
OMG this song is from my childhood so to hear your generation actually listen to this song it’s spiritual performance
Thanks for listening and not stopping the song.
I had the absolute pleasure to see the Secret World Tour concert in Vancouver BC years ago. One of the best concerts I have ever seen. Two separate stages. It was spectacular.
I agree. Also saying accepting all I have said and done. He is ready to face truth before God! Loooove this !
Peter Gabriel is amazing. My favorite solo artist. Man is a musical genius.
I never tire of seeing this performance 😊❤
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥my favorite live performance!!
I don't remember the details but I'm pretty certain Paula Cole was a replacement who had joined the touring band only a couple of days before this was filmed. Baptism by fire and she killed it.
She replaced Sinéad O'Connor on this tour.
The US tour, afaik, started with Paula in Rochester, NY. She (and everything else) was wonderful. Best show I've ever seen.
Beautiful song, I always thought this was about Roseanna Arquette, his love at the time.
Really enjoyed your reaction to this!! I actually just saw Peter Gabriel in Austin 3 months ago!!! It was a fantastic show!! He has a treasure full of music to listen to!!

You should do "Steam" from this concert. Peter Gabriel drives the women nuts with his dance moves.
Timeless Proformance....
You're the only reacter, as far as I know who nailed the message, most people think it's about someone he loves/partner. Great reaction!
I have seen it live about 8 times. Some of the greatest moments of my young life. Tears poured out of my eyes, tears of joy
former Genesis singer, pre Phil Collins. amazing group of world musicians!!!

Peter Gabriel is an experience more than he is music. There are lots of song suggestions for you, but I will always suggest "Biko".
This performance is just pure joy ❤
Paula Cole and Peter Gabriel make beautiful music together. They are so talented.
Many times a live version is better than the studio version, and this is true for every song on this particular, legendary, tour🤘🏽
More live please!! Always best when you don't know what's coming.🤯
:: Manu Katché on drums, Jean-Claude Naimro (from the amazing group Kassav') on keys and the late Papa Wemba singing...
In this case the this particular Live version is must - The most Life Affirming performances you will ever see.
Wow. Thank you for this reaction. I've never seen this performance. I have always loved this song, but this was so incredible. Peter Gabriel was a great artist. I feel he was always under estimated. Great job!

A Klingon on the drums nonetheless.
