There was a boy I went to high school with that played this piece in a music contest in our county. He didn’t talk too much but was very nice and really good with the piano. He played this piece flawlessly and was the only person to get a 40/40 in his solo. I still think about how beautifully he played this piece and listen to it every once in a while. I think everyone in the room was pretty speechless after listening that day.

Actually imo that portion of the piece is not as hard as it looks, but it is damn enjoyable while playing it. It's just having 4 fingers on the same exact keys, and pressing in quick succession (pretty much as fast as you can) from right to left, and repeat. It will tire your hand out after a while, but it isn't really 'hard' per se. What I found to be actually difficult was moving your right hand up and down a few notes from 2:25 - 3:20 ish, since you'll have to adjust the keys you're playing very quickly and very accurately.

By no means is this song easy to play, but it's doable! I though at first it was impossible, especially the part where your right hand goes into overdrive, but it is possible. I've been self teaching myself for the last 7 months and I can play parts here and there. Most of it is stamina, and a lot of the 'impossible fingers can't reach parts" are manipulated by good sustainment pedal usage. I'm working other songs here and there, but I'm still learning this song on the side. If you want to play it, just practice at ton and you'll get it eventually!!! Great masterpiece!

You notice how the higher notes are played once the lower notes are pressed already? The pianist is using a simple trick: lifting their left hand and reaching over the right hand to play the higher notes. I hope this trick helps you to try and play some parts. If you like playing piano, don't give up just yet. With the right amount of practice, you'll be able to play complicated songs, even if you don't have lessons. So, don't give up!
