Wow, amazing. Whereas other covers just try to replicate the notes as exact as possible, your interpretation really gets to the essence of the original score. The original score was always made for the organ, so you can't just repeat the notes on another instrument. With your interpretation, you really managed to translate the organ piece into a piano piece. Well done!
This is my all time favorite piece. I have came back to this videos a million times and it is equally amazing everytime. I picked up the piano again after quitting after 4 years piano lessons as a child. But this time I picked it up again with a clear goal in mind. To one day play this piece. I am now practicing piano again for about 1,5 years averaging about 1-2 hours practice daily. I have made large steps in progress and have good intonation I have been told. Now 1,5 years later I am getting close to the point were I feel confident to start learning this piece. Thank you for inspiring me Kyle : )

At around 6:00 it's just wow... I've been returning to this video couple of time per year at least... I hope my son who studies piano will play it for me one day... Thank you so much for this.
I wish I was his neighbor.. like I would just sit and listen through the wall.. content that I got to sit there invisible and hear this person play their heart or or just practice.
Also as someone who has played piano for like 9 years, when I practice it's usually just practicing the same piece for hours which I imagine would get very annoying for anyone listening lol. Just enjoy the finished product instead :)
@@justintime2026 I bet my neighbors hate me for that, especially cause I'm an amateur who never really learns a piece well enough for them to have a reason to bear with all the exercise :)) they don't even get a polished version at the end :)))
Everything about this is astonishing. The technique, the speed, the accuracy, the musicianship, the humble appearance, it's all the world needed. Thank you dearly for sharing, Kyle
By far the best cover I have heard. I see a lot of people try to do the cover and the struggle with dynamics and tempo. Landry makes it sound so whole a lot of emotion when he plays.
I have listened to this so many times. I love how you sit in the swivel chair. You are so relaxed and comfortable with this piece. Some days a can't get this melody out of my head. You are so talented and dedicated to the piano.
Absolutely beautiful. All those years of piano lessons and dedication and you're personal energy for music. It's who you are and you make the world sound and feel peaceful. Thank you!
Hans Zimmer didn't knew that this piece could be played in this manner, far far away by bilion light years better than original composition in the movie. Kyle, it looks like piano is part of your mind. Ten years I am listening you playing many compositions, and every one of them has some your charm in it.
@@Worker100 Try Jerrod Radnich (Pirates Forever), and make sure it is his performance, LOTS of people cover it. You will love the last 'chord', I'm sure he rehearsed that for hours, it's pretty funny. You will see ALL KINDS of comprehension and grace...and power, and subtlety, and ... :-) Or Cateen (Hyato Sumino), his original Piano Sonata 0 is quite good, and his improvisational skills are absurd, he does movies, games, world classical tours, jazz, even some top tier competitions, for fun. As a technician he is almost unmatched. There are several others, but yeah, Kyle is DEFINITELY a favorite of mine. He really does sound like he works out every note to perfection. Frank Tedesco does some very cool stuff, made up real time, and very complex arrangements, ten loop levels deep, some of them, others just straight piano. I think his Etude called Waves is a lot of fun, an original. Hope you enjoy. If you want more, just ask. I spend way too much time on YT. And it's not a competition, really, unless it is. I don't know how you pick out one person and assign the level 'best'. That doesn't really even mean anything, when you get to top tier performers. More personal taste than anything, at that point, IMHO. I have quite a few keyboardists on my playlist, and Kyle has a few pieces there. This is one of them, IIRC. Oh, look up Jacob Collier's 'Don't Stop'. Totally different, but totally great, if a bit silly. He likes to have fun. You might enjoy Sestak's "House of the Rising Sun", too. My favorite cover of that piece. That guy knows the value of silence in a piece, as well. Fun to watch.
@@poisson5846 Looked up Animenz. Thanks, fun stuff. 'Kick back - Chainsaw Man' is a blast. Look at the comment I just posted in this same thread for some return recommendations. :-)

I have consistently listened to your rendition of Hans Zimmer's "First Step". It is masterfully done and you display the emotion in it so vividly. I can never get tired of this piece, especially done by you.
it's extremely easy once you get it down, but the hard thing is the fast part because your muscles get tired quickly if you don't spend a LOT of time playing the piano
Hey Kyle. 2 times in my life, I have for real wondered if it would be possible to hire a musician to play on my wedding party. 1st were a gentleman in Key West who played on a bar for an audience of 10, but what a performance and what musical genius he was. And the 2.nd one is you. How I would have loved to be able to pay your ticket to Sweden to play on my own wedding party to come sometime in the future after the pandemic is gone. Its seldom to hear such perfection.
I thought I’d already come across the best renditions of this Hans Zimmer piece, until in the comments of another video someone said to check out Kyle Landry’s rendition. Oh my days, I’m just blown away after just listening to this!! It gave me all of the feels, it’s just so beautiful! Thank you. I’m 18 days into my piano learning journey and would one day love to be competent enough to play this piece, it’s my favourite composition. I must say, your rendition is more beautiful than the original, sorry Hans!!!

I'm tryna learn to play this song and the hardest thing for me at the moment is the amount of pressure to put on the keys. At some moments of the song Kyle slams the living shit out of the keys and other moments he gently presses the keys treating it like the most fragile thing in the world. I am currently at 1:18 and need to practice controlling my strength. wish me luck!

I'd been wanting to at piano my entire life secretly as I grew up around a group of boys in our neighborhood & it wasn't cool. My wife finally bought me a keyboard at 47 years old as she knew my truth. 2 years later & I have memorized 2 songs I can play (by sight not reading - no formal training) & I have been working on this one & can play up to 58 seconds where I get I to the deep water & can't swim. I've watched this video no less than 500 times & I still am awed by it's beauty. Is there a tutorial on this song or how would someone persistent in learning this song learn how to at it? Gets complicated but I'm willing to put in the effort to learn this song. Thank you Kyle for sharing the fruits of your considerable talents & efforts!
Just imagine that you are doin regular stuff, like working in your office, or vacuum cleaning, and somewhere in the world at the same moment such playing is happening

Kyle Landry you're the best and keep doing what you do because you make a difference to not just me but everyone that may witness you🙂

same ... something about adulthood just makes us want treasure time more ... I used to take piano and guitar lessons when i was 10-15 years old but couldn't focus on them ... but now , I am able to play much better without any teacher's guidance , instead focusing on my feelings and memories
Wow! Great words
never give up, never surrender your dream.
@@AvaCaviness I am planning to give it a go in the upcoming summer vacation : )
I don't understand why people would dislike this video. As if they were not satisfied with his incredible skills. As if they could do a better job then this... I watch this video almost everyday, and it gives me the same amazing feelings every time. Glad I found this video!

I couldn't leave this video with out leaving a comment. I've been more than 25 years playing multi instruments and the feelings you have put behind the keys are phenomenal. Your performance is first class. This is the first time I right a very strong review on RUclips and it goes to you and your amazing playing style that promotes emotions. God bless.

My best friend died at a young age, and this was his favorite song that I would play for him. I played it at his funeral. When I learned this, I put your cover on the slowest speed possible and wrote everything down. Thank you for putting this out there. He died in 2018 and I still go back to this
This was very touching. Thank you for sharing this.
1:46 .....At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side

DONT LET HIM GO, MURPH!!! DONT LET KYLE GO, MURPH!!
U can always put in some book shells and pear through 👀
I mean thats essentially what you're doing by watching his videos lol
2022... still the best cover of Interstellar... God keep blessing you kyle...
By far the best cover I have heard. I see a lot of people try to do the cover and the struggle with dynamics and tempo. Landry makes it sound so whole a lot of emotion when he plays.
I don't know how many times I've watched this now but never gets old.
This is the best pianist on RUclips hands down. Incredible talent and such an amazing tune.
Patrick Pierchman and Animenz: *allow me to introduce ourselves*
Ya realize there is literally Valentina Lisita who is a professional classical pianist
@@poisson5846 nah they are nowhere near his level of comprehension and grace....
Or Cateen (Hyato Sumino), his original Piano Sonata 0 is quite good, and his improvisational skills are absurd, he does movies, games, world classical tours, jazz, even some top tier competitions, for fun.
2:51 OMG, It's the most perfect introduction I've heard, I love it!!
love this movie. seen it 3 times. going to see it again
High fiveeeee
Is this song from the part where they are doing a flashback of their lives? One of the saddest goddamn movies I've ever seen.
i cried three timess
I think nearly every Christopher Nolan film deserves watching at least three times XD
Netta Pollack totally agree!
The most impressive performance I've ever seen!
Me: *has to use 10 pages of sheet music for a minute of playing*
Kyle Landry: *plays 9 minutes of music with two pages of music*
This was extremely beautiful.
This is like my 50th time watching this, simply amazing!
Watching you play has helped me to understand the importance of gestures used when you play and how that contributes to the sway and beauty of the song
I agree!! I've been playing piano for 17 years and I don't think I'll ever play as beautifully as he does
JasmineRachelle22 you gotta feeeeeeeeel every note you play :) xx
what an insane performance, i cant image all the work to be able to play like that, its unreal
He made about 3 keying errors but who's complaining not me
it's 2019 and i still find myself coming back to rewatch this masterpiece... wish i could erase it from my memory so i could feel what it was like to watch it for the first time again !
Hanool Lim I was looking through the comments knowing what you said made the first time watching this infinitely more special thank you
I love it how 4:40 is actually half way. It feels like it's about to end but nope, there's still half an amazing song to go.
It's awesome. Respect from Russia 🇷🇺
I was here 6 years ago when this was uploaded, still come back to it all the time to appreciate the emotion and skill behind this

***** i bought it, and honestly i'm listening it second time and just wanted to tell your performance is brilliant, very emotional and very professional. Would love to have more content like this :)
Yohan Meyer There are many bars missing in the upper clef. Can you fix this? I makes it very hard to read!
Zimmer + Nolan = Awesomeness..!!
you forgot +Landry...
I have consistently listened to your rendition of Hans Zimmer's "First Step". It is masterfully done and you display the emotion in it so vividly. I can never get tired of this piece, especially done by you.
Best version on youtube!
More like only version on RUclips, RUclips has only one Kyle XD
Ravin Chowdhury There is only one Kyle... But there are many versions....
To this day, this is still the most beautiful thing my ears have had the privilege of hearing.
6:30 He closes his eyes and still hits every note flawlessly. Wow....
I have never played piano in my life but you can really tell how in the zone Kyle is when he is playing, its beautiful!
You make it look so easy, im struggling with the first 20 seconds
Danny Schoosch *leaves a notification*
Danny Schoosch i meant i want to come back to this section so i can go to tje website later xD
it's extremely easy once you get it down, but the hard thing is the fast part because your muscles get tired quickly if you don't spend a LOT of time playing the piano

If you go to his website, you can contact him about such a thing. That's one of the services he sells. Best of Luck, and Congrats!
I must say, your rendition is more beautiful than the original, sorry Hans!!!
this is the best cover all over youtube

Samuel Wilson you are the greatest!
Samuel Wilson I
Been watching this for years, have watched this over one thousand times easy, just now giving a like. I'm ashamed! This has been Inspiring and has helped my mind feel at ease. Thank you
Guess what, a childhood dream of playing piano just came out 2 months ago. Started with a digital piano and 20 days later i purchased a baby grand Steinway.
All of this because Ive heard this piece and it touched me so deeply that I started all of this adventure. Thanks Kyle Landry, you are truly an inspiration. I hope I could play this piece in rhe future as musical as you do!
It is so beautifully played, it breaks my heart every time I listen to it ❤
2 years later i still listen to the piece every time i want to feel music
2 and 6 months later .... still doing the same thing 😂😂
this piece makes me feel so lonely, like there is only me standing on the earth under the night sky full of stars
Have been here since the Kyle556 days. I'll always come back because your music makes my heart sing and an hour of your playing cleanses my spirit. Thank you mate for all your hard work and grinding. You leave us with endless choices to listen too whenever we feel the need.
literally one of the best interstellar covers that ive ever seen
Its one of my dreams to play this :)
H-Rown Scrub STOP DREAMING AND JUST DO IT!!!!!! :D
peter lee THANKSSSS :D the only thing is that I dont have the endurance in my right hand that is needed for this piece so thats kinda sad :(
Practice. In want to learn it. I am capable of doing so. You are too. Its all in the mind. Persistence. Its all brain games. Practice with the mentality that you are a professional pianist. Just do it. See the change. Feel the change. BE the change. Nobody said you couldnt. I want to do it, but I do not have a piano with me right now. Use your materials. Gather knowledge. TRY! Do it. Just do it and feel change. Let the music guide you to where you want to be. Its your choice.
wow, that really inspired me. Thank you, I wont try
I WILL DO
This made my day!

how is this even possible? my right hand would have fallen into pieces.. twice..
your playing is admirable!
Hahaha, you must not have heard/watched professionals play Chopin or Liszt etudes have you?!
2020 in the epidemic, and here I find my peace. In your music. I also have been inspired by your composing. This pice, Zelda: song of healing, Zelda: fairy fountain...etc . Thank you. I also hope to some day in the future play those pice’s!
Zelda is life ✌️ especially ocarina of time
By far it’s the best piano cover of this song on youtube!
@Tristan Tiideberg How it's going? :)
Hans zimmer is NOT a place to start lol. It’s prob a 5th year song. Nuvole Blanche is the best 1st year song to learn. Give that piece a go.
Hows it coming?
Any updates?
@@asiya3757 How is it going?
I love how the silence at the end is still part of the song.
When the notes hit from really soft to hard: i felt that
I've been watching you play a lot of pieces for years now... But this is the first time I'm just hearing this made me cry and I don't know why... You are probably one of the most gifted and talented piano players I've ever listened to in my entire life... Please continue to do this because you inspire people and you definitely give people emotions with your arrangements... This is one of the first few movies where I was in love with the soundtrack from front to back.. so hearing this was just phenomenal
Quarantine music. I visit this video multiple times every year for the last 5 years and it still induces goosebumps. Elite talent.
Thank you for this. I had such a bad day and now im smiling. The goosebumps... The feeling...
Sooo viel Emotionen die da drin stecken sind unglaublich.....einfach super❤
Piano is the most beautiful instrument ever. After all those year playing piano, it still shievers my spine to play the music I love.
This has been my first true eargasm
I cried. That's how good this is
After 9 years im still here. You are so talented. Wow. Takes me right back. Amazing
Same. Still the best version of this song on RUclips imo
After years I am still amazed at this piece of art. 7:23 How does he manage to make it sound so smooth, so awesome.
You touched the deepest part of me....thanks for this beauty
Just beyond emotion, thank you so much
I have returned to this piece repeatedly over time, far more than any other from anyone online ...without comparison. Please never remove.
Same here. This very evening, in fact.
I’ve been counting. 152 or 153 times.
Just imagine that you are doin regular stuff, like working in your office, or vacuum cleaning, and somewhere in the world at the same moment such playing is happening
Kyle Landry you are my role model! You inspire me to do great things. I am a young pianist and piano is my passion I wish to be like you. I have not taken any piano lessons and I have no clue how to read sheet music but I still manage to play moonlight sonata, fur Elise, time -inception, etc... including this very own composition. You inspire me to change the world and create music for everyone to hear and enjoy. It would mean the world to me if you would just reply to this with a simple hi. Kyle Landry you're the best and keep doing what you do because you make a difference to not just me but everyone that may witness you🙂
I had watched many pianists that plays this song. But I have never ever seen that not just playing but also living the song in the heart and soul as you. If I were a man lives in 60s and you were the pianist in the bar, I would definitely unhat and present my memento watch for you.
