His brother is everyone who needs help
That's what I was thinking too especially right now.

When I first heard this song, back in the day, I loved it, and still do.
If you want to hear a great solo artist sing this try Ronnie Osmond..
I'm sorry these songs are not part of your generations life. This is a life lesson. Everyone is your brother. Everyone needs love.
I have shared this song lately due to our present struggle. We are all brothers and sisters. They made this during the Hippie era. Peace love and a hand up to all in need. I am 71, this is one of my all time favorite songs and groups. Thank you for spinning it. I love your reaction to it. God Bless you. I have subscribed.❤
Apple Blossom: It’s my generation, I’m 74! It’s such a good song, great harmonies and with a message we all need desperately in 2020!
The songs of love and the brotherhood of mankind was the response at the time for civil rights. This is one of many that needs to be re-presented to the young people of today. Let's have a revival of open love between people from ethnically different backgrounds. And a Jesus Freaks revival too! Love your reactions and comments to the songs you play. I subscribed. Love you!💖
Well said. ❤

America NEEDS THIS MESSAGE tonight! As much as she ever did............
Yes.
THIS^^^^^. We must start thinking of our fellow man. Forget the Me, me, me...it really is We.
Why?
The entire world needs this message 😢
More. 😔
White, Black, Brown, etc.... he's my brother.
sirslice all lives matter 🙏🏻
@@MsFreedom4us oh the irony of your username. Black lives matter.
Amen.
Love it!!!!! So true.
We are all brothers and sisters , we are the brotherhood of mankind
He is talking about mankind, every one.
There's a story this is probably based on... of a little girl carrying her brother. Both of them looking malnourished and poor, some old people see them and ask the girl: "Isn't he heavy?" and she, maybe in her innocence or in a burst of love and genius, replies: "No, mister... he's not heavy... he's my brother..."
Actually he is talking about everyone. You, the guy next door, a stranger. He is saying we are all in this together so what burdens you have he is here for you. It is a message that artists have tried to make people understand. What we are going through now...whatever it is he has your back...even me...even his brother, sister, first cousin...or the guy down the street.
We need that mentality these days
@@youbestbequiet Then you picked the wrong guy to support.

The Hollies? You have to listen to "The Air That I Breathe", "Long, Cool Woman in a Black Dress", Bus Stop", and "Look Through Any Window".
Wow! If Jayvee hasn't heard any of those yet then he has his work cut out for him. The Air That I Breathe has always been my personal favorite from The Hollies.
Yes!!!! 👍
Here's a few more Hollies songs: On a Carousel, King Midas in Reverse, Dear Eloise, Jennifer Eccles, Long Dark Road, etc.
@@RayRay-zt7bj mine too! This was my suggestion as well💙
The harmonys on "I can't let go" ar amazing I saw them live in the 90s and it blew my mind.
We need this to be our theme song for now.
I was thinking the same thing..through tears. Love is what will heal us all 💜🧡
Beautifully said. X
This is my theme song about life. Everyone is my brother (or sister).
"The air that i breathe" - The Hollies
tylerdobdob23 yes. Haven’t seen many do it, possibly copyright reasons
Hey Jayvee, back then groups sang about social issues. He's my brother symbolizes the brotherhood of man and world peace. It is a metaphor. But you appreciate great artists of the past which gains my respect.
They still do, they just don't get air time or recording deals!
He never knew I loved him
Yes this song and many others represent it the music of our generation how we express our emotions to solve problems. Let’s take for example Woodstock listen to the words that all the artist put out. This was during Vietnam, Ken’t University and Vietnam for sure. We were always for each other music was our deliverance that’s why were listening to you so we could see your reaction hopefully we portrayed in continued through our music
Back then everyone sang about everyday and weird things as well. Long Cool Woman, Bus Stop. 😂 Every generation every genre of music has songs with deep meaning and songs that are just for enjoyment.
We are all bothers and sisters.
Yes we sre😊
My brother-in- law was in Nam when I was a youngster, I would write him everyday. That song brings back those memories. Thank God he came home safely. Semper Fi!
This song was written because of what happened during the Vietnamese war... When Vietnamese were displaced and had to flee... A young boy was carrying his 2 year old brother on his back, walking to "nowhere" just to get away from the war.
@@wanderer2800 we looked at our fellow soldiers as brothers during nam didn't matter what color
He was a hero, trying to help a people from that country being invaded by evil. When they cried out for help, he answered the call, good on him
ruclips.net/video/fxFZniVxb3c/видео.html
This song was actually about our troops in Vietnam
Everyone is your brother everyone needs help and love he’s not talking specifically about literally his own flesh and blood he’s talking about the world
Mathew 25:40
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
Amen
♥️
Hallelujah
An image that was used often with this song was that of a Vietnam vet carrying a wounded brother out of the jungle. I think that makes it even more poignant.
The version that I heard was that it was his OWN brother.
Poignanter!
Great song. Not literally his brother. Talking about his fellow man. You got it.
We are ALL brothers.
Just like you and me.
That's their message of love...
In the 1940s, the words, adapted as "He ain't heavy, Father, he's my brother", were taken as a slogan for Boys Town children's home by founder Father Edward Flanagan.[3] According to the Boys Town website, the phrase as used by Boys Town was said to Fr. Flanagan in 1918 by one of the residents while carrying another up a set of stairs. The boy being carried is said to have had polio and worn leg braces.[4]
Thanks Miss Bridget! It’s great having the blanks filled in.
Yes I've always heard this backstory was the inspiration
This goes way back. It was in a book written in 1884, the parables of Jesus. A girl was carrying a big baby boy, someone asked her if he was heavy she replied, no, he's not heavy, he's my brother. There are a few other places it was in also.
This should be the anthem for 2020!! 💫
And beyond Gem😊
This was played at my high school grad ceremony. Not a dry eye, even the jocks and the tough guys, by the end of it we were a sobbing mess, LOL
This was played at my graduation as well. We were all crying.
WOW, that's great !
Only the Beatles had more top ten hits in the UK. The Hollies were unique and incomparable.
Wow, so they had more than the Stones?
The Stones had 20 and the Hollies had 11, that entered the top ten in the UK. This was their last hit to reach the top 10 and it peaked at #1.
@@Coolrockndad .The stones had 20, three of which were EPs, not singles..the Hollies had 19. The Stones had more No 1s than the Hollies.
I'm counting 17 top 10 UK hits for the Hollies, and 19 for ABBA.
@@otisdylan9532 . Then we agree to differ.
I get the message not his brother but we are all brothers. Take the time help each other
The lyrics and melody of this song is fantastic. Never get tired of listening to this.
It's a wonderful song, Felita.
They're singing about equality, kindness, and caring for each other as brothers.
I asked my 19 year old daughter if she ever heard of this song before. she said “no” I told her to listen to the same video, then I would tell her the story behind the song. I played the video and she actually got tears in her eyes. Then I told her the story. She said “ play it again daddy” I played it again and tears ran down her face the entire song. What a powerful song of a brothers love.
His brother is everyone that needs a helping hand. We could use some of that these days.
The Air That I Breathe - Hollies
Yes!! 💤💜🎵💚
The messages of these 60s 70s songs, were hope of the change needed still. Love everyone. Help your neighbor, your brother. All equal.
Nation of free immigrants. Some, not by choice. Peace
We are all brothers and sisters 🙂
Gotta hear Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress by the Hollies.
Just a 5 9 beautiful tall....wide open.
Yes, plz react to Long Cool Woman..., love this song. Thx for all your hard work. I really appreciate your kind heart.
What a great song I’m glad you’re reacting to it now we need it.❤️😃👍🌼✌️Love and peace.
Excellent song especially now!!!
One of my all time favorite songs - thank you for reacting to this one!!
You’ve started at the top J! The lead singer is Alan Clarke and they made so many great records. This one is so special to my family as it was one of my dad’s favourites and actually described the kind of man he was. We were going to play it at his funeral but knew we couldn’t have got through it if we did. It pops up for me every now and again and it’s like my beautiful dad whispering in my ear. Much needed message, especially at the moment.😊
What a beautiful comment. Your dad sounds like a wonderful man.
snicky58 that’s kind, thank you! Yes, my dad was one of the best and our family was blessed to have him.😊
Back in the day I had this song on 45. I wore it out! It was a civil rights anthem. It was saying that everyone is my brother and we should carry each other's burdens.
You know, what I love is seeing you react so positively about my generation's music, thank you!
The Hollies have a whole lot of really good songs. "The air that I breathe" is one of my faves! More Bob Seger, please!
One of my all time favorites. Next try A Change is gonna Come by Sam Cooke
Oh yeah. Sam Cooke' Change is gonna come... If I could give it a hundred likes, I would...
Love one another.
I've loved this song since it was released. He is talking about humankind as his brother. One big family.
Damn.. This kinda reaction is why I'm glad I'm a long time subscriber. Another great effort mate!!
Graham Nash from Crosby, Stills,Nash was an original member. Try Bus Stop, Look Through any Window, Long Cool Woman, Carrie-Anne, Pay You Back with Interest. Peace, Bro
On a Carousel
Gerry and the pacemakers singing Ferry across the Mersey.
There is a RUclips video of this song with soldiers literally carrying each other during battle that I think really drives home the message.
Such a great song and especially the message, helping and not harming. Thank you for playing that. Sure enjoy your channel and reactions
Alan Clarke what a voice! The Hollies "Distant Light" album is a rock classic. Also check out his solo single "I Will Be Your Shadow in the Street".
His brother is "mankind" That's right WE are all related....✌
Cactus Jack and Dude Love too??
WW2 American GI carrying his buddy. Journalist said he looks heavy (offering help), GI reply. Brings a tear to me for personal reasons
Love their song Bus Stop. Thanks JV. You're on FIRE!
Great song try a fun cover the mona lisa twins do bus stop you will enjoy it
This song always brings a tear to my eye. It's about any person who needs a helping hand. .... It was very much loved by soldiers that helped their brother soldiers too.
The Hollies come from my hometown Manchester in the UK.
Didn't know that, i am from Manchester too.
Being a Vietnam Vet I wanted to share the meaning of the song. It's about those of us during the war and how we took care and loved each other during this horrible situation.
This song is one reason why The Hollies are my favorite group.
The line, "It's a long long road for which there is no return" always makes me cry.
In these times, the message of Universal Brotherhood (Sisterhood) of this song is more relevant and more needed than ever. ((
It'd be great to hear Dionne Warwick's version of "What The World Needs Now is Love", for a time such as these.
Great suggestion! 👍👍👍👍💯
Jackie DeShannon’s version is great too.
The Hollies are one of the greatest bands ever you gotta listen to more from them
This song was the anthem during the time American was in war in Vietnam. This was a great song and fantastic artists. Check out , "The Air That I Breath" by them. This is a perfect song for these times that we are going through with all the unrest, the death of George Foremen and other blacks lives we have lost. The song still holds true today!!!
Wow, I just spent 3 hours watching your channel & it went by so quickly! Glad you like the music I grew up with. Please listen to The Mamas and The Papas, "CALIFORNIA DREAMING." Excellent harmonizing. Cheers!
Great song!!
His "brother" is an illustrative word to mean all peoples. This song was at the forefront of the first generation (us) who really took on race barriers and breaking down between races ... the times in the 1960s ...
It goes to the fundamental reason humans have survived, by ourselves we are nothing only together we succeed.
Check out Elvin Bishop "Fooled around and fell in love"
Also a Band called - Grand Funk Railroad song " Some kind a wonderful"
✌️😎 We enjoy the channel man!!
The lead singer from the Hollies has one of those voices that is super strong.
I am so happy you are love my old time music. I don’t get to see very many people interested.
One of my faves. He did change the words a bit in the live version, but it struck me as a slight error. "sadness" got reversed with "gladness".
I noticed that word slip-up too! He was a real pro for not letting that get him rattled.
You definitely need to hear "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" and "The Air That I Breathe". Great songs and two more really good vocal performances. "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" also features one of the most iconic guitar riffs of the classic rock era.
He means you, me, black, white, everyone who is your neighbor is your brother and my god do we need this message in this world now
No matter what colour of skin, no matter what creed or belief, no matter what ideology, all we need to do is put our arms around each other and embrace.
I posted to listen to the Spinners I put the wrong name 😩and it’s one of my all time favorites! It’s “ I’ll be around” 💕
I love the Hollies and this song. This song always brings a tear to my eye.
I'm quite overwhelmed by this beautiful song. There are so many amazing songs from the past💖
British band, American singer. Result, pure class
I mistakenly thought he was American. But what a voice.
The Hollies have some other great songs: Bus Stop, The Air That I Breathe, and the awesome Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress
If you like the Hollies, you should also check out Manfred Mann (Blinded By the Light, Do Wah Diddy, The Mighty Quinn), and Three Dog Night (One, Mama Told Me, Joy to the World)
Another great band with good music. Always loved this song, its so beautiful
youre gonna learn in your life, that this is one of the absolutely best song in the world!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorites! I love the version with video with all the soldiers from different wars carrying each other.
IMHO, right up there with the greatest pop songs of all time...
Glad you are listening to different types of music. When I was young (yea, 100 yrs ago) radio stations played all types of music. So we got the chance to hear all categories of modern music. Cheers!
I believe that in America there was a boy's home for parentless children and in the front of the building, there was a statue of a young man helping a younger child to walk.
Everyone needs this song...a Blessing 💕
This song is deep and is a message to all mankind!!! We all must love one another!!!❤️❤️❤️
This song just brings back memories of five of my older brothers who have passed away. I still have one older brother left whom I very often ever see. I also still have two sisters. I love each and everyone of them.
Everyone is our brother. Great song from a time of social awareness and a real attempt at being better people.
America needs this right now. We need to be united not separated. We need to love and respect one another not be separated like we are right now. Lord help reunite us!!!❤🙏
The studio version of this song featured a pre-fame Elton John on piano.
Did not know that. Thank you for the information.
it's about a guy (in the US) NY possibly, who carried his disabled brother everywhere. When someone asked him if he was heavy, his reply was"He ain't heavy, he's my brother" But is is about all of us. Cheers from the UK
solo request ..... 4 Tops - When she was my girl (the late great Levi Stubbs) R I P
Tears Run Down my Face
Every Time I hear This Song
I'm so happy you did this one. It reminds me of my brothers they have had good time and some very bad time I played this to them it says what they need to hear when times are tough thank you. And I could it made you think to great reaction. Also listen to the air that I breathe another great song. Stay safe
Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress,The Air That I Breathe, and Bus Stop. By the way this song is about a universal meaning of brother which was done in 1969 in times of strife, civil rights, The Vietnam war, drugs running rampant, violence in the streets.
When you get to Crosby, Stills, and Nash (and Young), this is the band that Graham Nash was a member of but not in this song.
The Hollies are my favourite group. And listen to The Air that I Breathe!
Groups and singers nowadays cannot hold a candle to those.
Your problems or issue won't weight me down. I'm always here for you.
Back in the 60's when I was a kid, this was one of my favorite favorite songs.
I have a soft spot for songs about non-romantic relationships. Glad you appreciated this one.
Great message. One of the better harmony bands of the 60's and 70's.
"He aint heavy, he's my brother" was the part of the original logo for "Boy's Town"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boys_Town_(organization)
It was the philosophy we practiced. We didn’t care who was oppressed, in need, we were ONE. Everyone helped each other freely and happily. This was the perfect song to explain how we tried to live our lives.
Good harmony group. Neil Diamond recorded an excellent cover of this song, I like that one more than this.
For my mother this song always represented how she felt when her brother was dying from stomach and pancreatic cancer. He was only 37 when he died. She is his baby sister. This song to her represented them.
