The young boy replied " he is not a heavy father, he is my brother." The portable boy was crippled and unable to walk. The original performer of the song was Kelly Gordon in 1969. This was made more famous By the British The Hollies that same year. Joe Cocker declined to record the song before The Hollies. They also have other goodies like Bus Stop, The Air That I Breathe.

You got a thumb up before i`d even watched this reaction to one of my favourite songs, I can see the exercise ball in the background so the palpitations have started again, this song first came out way back in 1969, written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell it tells the story of a little girl carrying a big baby boy in the 1884 book The Parables of Jesus by James Wells, Moderator of the United Free Church of Scotland, Seeing her struggling, someone asked if she wasn't tired. With surprise she replied: "No, he's not heavy; he's my brother. anyway keep the great song coming ,,, and yes, i`m still here !
Just to clarify, he sings the lyric wrong when he sings "...that everyone's heart isn't filled with the sadness..." - the lyric should be "filled with the gladness....".
