Resurrecting these old tunes from the 60's and 70's may very well be what saves our humanity.

"His welfare is my concern". A beautiful song inspired by Boys Town, the orphanage, and the statues which had this inscription just inside its gates. Still gets me after all these years.

This song ia always one of my favorites, a great choice. 👌
Father Flanagan, who founded Flanagan's Boys Town for orphans and restless children, asked the son if his burden was too heavy for him when he was carrying a smaller boy on his back? The young boy replied " he is not a heavy father, he is my brother." The portable boy was crippled and unable to walk.
The original performer of the song was Kelly Gordon in 1969.
This was made more famous By the British The Hollies that same year.
Joe Cocker declined to record the song before The Hollies.
They also have other goodies like
Bus Stop, The Air That I Breathe.

Thank you for your reaction, Gracie! You still have the best hair on all of RUclips imo!! The Hollies had a string of hit songs, but the one I would recommend most highly would be "The Air That I Breathe"! Don't forget to add "Dog and Butterfly" by Heart and "If You Want To Get To Heaven" by The Ozark Mountain Daredevils to your list!!

Your reaction to "If I'm laden at all" is the same reaction I have every time I hear this song lol. Absolutely amazing voice, and the piano in this version really compliments the vocals too. A beautiful song.

You got a thumb up before i`d even watched this reaction to one of my favourite songs, I can see the exercise ball in the background so the palpitations have started again, this song first came out way back in 1969, written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell it tells the story of a little girl carrying a big baby boy in the 1884 book The Parables of Jesus by James Wells, Moderator of the United Free Church of Scotland, Seeing her struggling, someone asked if she wasn't tired. With surprise she replied: "No, he's not heavy; he's my brother. anyway keep the great song coming ,,, and yes, i`m still here !

Just to clarify, he sings the lyric wrong when he sings "...that everyone's heart isn't filled with the sadness..." - the lyric should be "filled with the gladness....". Thanks for doing this one, Gracie. It's one of my favorite songs of all time, and brings back memories of when I was just 4-5 years old. Have you reacted to "Hummingbird" by Seals and Crofts?

You listen to the song like you listen to a pop song that has no meaning. The song is in reference to Boys Town USA where an older boy is carrying a younger boy through the snow and father Flanagan asks isn't he heavy and the older boy says no he's not heavy he's my brother.
