“Does it mean this, does it mean that, that’s all anybody wants to know. I’d say what any decent poet would say if anyone dared to ask him to analyze his work: if you see it, darling, then it’s there!” - Freddie Mercury

The message I get from this song is that no matter your race, religion, color or creed, we are the community of this earth here to share our time ( and those of good fortune ) to help each other.
If we all make an attempt to give those in need a " hand up " ( rather than a hand out ) and be willing to be an active part in our community, we can strive to be loving, caring people and make the world a better place through strength and vision.

The Hollies were probably the most UNDER rated British band in the late sixties. They had brilliant songs, a string of number 1's in the UK. But some some reason they never "made it" into the USA market. A powerful lead singer, great harmonies etc. Listen to a few of their best of and you'll understand.

John Wilson Oh, I know the hits! Was kinda hard to choose one, but this one seemed so relatable to the current nature of things

"Underrated"?! Very much celebrated and appreciated! Allan Clarke, the lead singer at the time, and the founding member, is a f..ing member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Actually, Nash, Hicks, Haydock, Elliott, Sylvester and Calvert were inducted as well. : )

A little trivia. The piano player on this song is Reginald Dwight! Later changed his name to Elton John!

Also remember, it came out during the Vietnam war, when a lot of broken men came home from that conflict, and needed a helping hand getting their lives back on track. Think of Lt Dan in the Forrest Gump movie, and how Forrest helped him out. This song encapsulates that help. Timeless song with a beautiful message..

I'm in the USA and grew up listening to the Hollies, not sure why some one said they didnt make it into the us market.. All of their hits were played here. I'm 70 and still have all their recordings on vinyl.

Great song! Another one from my life's soundtrack and iconic for the time. I have a memory of sitting on the sea wall in my hometown and singing this with my friends. Btw, Graham Nash (Crosby, Still & Nash) was one of the original band members, but he left the band before this song.

🙋🏾‍♀️ Nice song choice Dad! I remember this when I was little (was only 4 y/o when this came out 😄). Of course I didn’t understand the lyrics of it back then but certainly relate to them now. Nice to see you too get it Brennan✌🏾!

One of the greatest songs ever written. A performance of perfection by allen clarke and the hollies. Doesn't get any better than this. A superb job!

The Bass Player 💁🏾‍♀️ You may wanna give a bit more of a heads-up 'cos many ppl aren't on YT all day. Some do have notifications on in their YT (like I do) but not on their devices as these notifications kill the device batteries. For this reason, I periodically ck my YT app manually, but there might be others that allow notifications to come thru their devices. My point is tho, give more of a heads-up to premiere video chats so that more ppl will have had the opportunity to click the reminder bell. For some reason, regular notificiations doesn't let us know 'bout premiere video chats✌🏾!

Dad knows best, there's no substitute for experience...take note kiddies. The Hollies were unique and incomparable, they were so talented, prolific and criminally underrated. And if you like bass try listening to ' long cool woman ', the intro is a killer.

Actually, it was a little boy who carried a little crippled boy up the stairs, when the priest asked him if he got tired doing that, to which he answered, “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.” The cripple boy had been abandoned because of his disability. The two boys were not related as far as I know.

I remember Alan Clarke on a BBC documentary saying he saw 2 boys playing outside and a small boy was carrying a larger one on his back and he asked the little boy in a jokey sort of way if he was ok and he replied “ he’s not heavy he’s my brother “ and gradually Alan realised the depth of what the little boy actually said - - Love from England ❤️
