    A rice cooker or steamer is a must have kitchen gadget for those of you who loves to eat rice or if you’re a Filipino you should have this by now at home. Before the rice cooker, cooking rice on a pot is the best way to cook or prepare rice but it’s a time consuming and also you have to keep an eye on it the entire cooking time. The rice cooker on the other hand is so convenient and worry free way to cook rice. Also, you have to factor in the type of rice you’re cooking. I don’t recommend the box and packaged ones, I always use the Thai Jasmine rice as they smell good and cooked good. But back home in the Philippines, I prefer the rice fresh from the farm. I just don’t have that resources here, so the Jasmine Rice is what I recommend.
    You like my rice cooker? I got It from Amazon, just Click here amzn.to/2UigWpt
    Jasmine RIce I love amzn.to/3arTcXU
    On this video, I am showing you how easy it is to cook rice. I know a lot of you are intimidate by it but seriously rice is a very easy to prepare. If my 8 years old can do it, you can to.
    Here is my suggested measurements for rice, but again this is depends on your preference.
    Amount of rice (1 cup) + equal amount of water (1 cup) + 2 tbsp. of water. This applies to the long grain Jasmine rice but should work on any long grain rice.
    What type of water to use? I have to point this out as it has been asked a couple of times already. If you have distilled water, used that, or filtered water, boiled water and or tap water if you are comfortable using them. This is really up to you preference.
    If you follow this measurement of mine (always works for me), your rice should turned out perfectly like ours. Note this is only for those ones who use rice cooker or steamer.
    The rice cooker I used here is Hamilton Beach you can get from amazon but you can use any rice cooker brand. If you don't have rice cooker, don't worry I have a video coming up on how to cook rice on a stove.

    Finally! Instructions for a rice cooker that work. After tossing the first batch, again , I was fed up. I assumed I would never get it right. "How difficult can it be?" I asked. I have a kitchen appliance made for just this thing. But, no. It NEVER turns out right. Not cooked enough, or overcooked-which is what happened today. "Somebody has to know the secret". I turned to RUclips in a last ditch effort, and here you are. I followed the directions precisely. It worked! Now even I, and my rice cooker, can make rice. Thank you so much! You saved supper!

    I moved to Costa Rica from Canada 2 years ago. I’ve never owned a rice cooker but the house came with one so I started to use it. Your little video of all the rice cooker videos has become my go to when I forget (68 years old) how to wash, portion the rice to water. I love making fried rice is this rice when cold is just the best. 🍚👍

      Hello! what were you failing before? I have acquired a rice cooker and it fails cooking my rice properly. I have way more success with a simple pot…
      Pot : clean rice (at least twice), add 1 to 1.5 cups of water for each cup of rice, make it boil and as soon as it boils lower heat, cover, and let it cook for 10 minutes, low heat. After 10 minutes keep it covered for 10 more minutes, it's ready. I almost don't even have to change the duration depending on the rice, just the amount of water.
      Rice cooker : clean rice (idem), add 1, 2, 3, 4, even FUCKING FOUR CUPS of water per cup of rice, click button, wait for rice to be overcooked, all dry and even a bit burnt. Damn it 😡

    • @DashofSpices
      @DashofSpices  2 года назад

      @@NicolasChambrier well what I can suggest is what's worked for me. 1 cup rice = 1 1&4 cups of water (make sure to use the same cup for rice and liquid. Rinse 3x then add the 1 & 1/4 cups water for 1 cup rice. Level it out and place in rice cooker, select white rice or steamed rice

    • @NicolasChambrier
      @NicolasChambrier 2 года назад

      @@DashofSpices I guess it was my cooker which was faulty then, because it burnt rice whatever the quantities and I definitely clean it well. I've returned it obviously and will not try again, pot is working like a charm once you know how ^^

    Sweet video. You seem like a wonderful, caring, patient mom. Although, my gut tells me that bird of yours is secretly plotting a takeover of your residential dwelling. That crazy bird wants you out. Out!! Regardless, if my mom or dad see this comment, I want both of them to know that I sincerely wish you had given me up for adoption. Bastards. Have nice day.

    is dominican rice possible with rice cooker? it usually has oil and salt added to the water
    i'm worried something will go wrong because of the oil

      Hello there, that's a good question. I haven't really tried that type of rice but sounds delicious already 😊 I have tried flavored rice that comes in a box and it cooks right so I assume it will do the same with any rice. Just do 1 cup of rice and 1 cup + 2 tbsp of water or broth.

    • @sweetstkissez22

      I just did this last night! It was delicious. The oil does make the rice a little softer maybe stickier but the flavor was phenomenal!! It doesn’t mess up the pot!

      Hi there, that is really up to your preference. I don’t put salt when I cook plain rice. The jasmine rice has so much aroma flavor to it already, I don’t see the needs of it (salt).
