I am 63 yrs old and recently became introduced to lentils and to rice cookers. I can't believe how easy dinner has become. Love to cook and eat, just can't stand at the stove for long.
You can make macaroni in a Rice Cooker too. It's super simple : - boil the water - add chopped veggies in it n boil for 5 min - add the macroni n boil it together mix spices as per ur choice - keep checking it n stiring it In no time u ll have delicious macronies ready . Enjoy!!
Works great if you pay attention to instructions. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia For those that complain about "mushy" or "wet" rice I suspect they are using the included cup to measure rice (which is really only 3/4 cup) and then putting in water using a separate measuring cup that is a full cup. This results in too much water and you will get mushy or wet rice and think it is not done. Just use the included cup for both rice and water, or your own measuring cup for rice and water according to your package directions. It will come out fine. I've used mine for years for brown and white rice. If your machine is bubbling white froth out of the steam vent then it means you should have rinsed your brand of rice first to remove some of the starch. Sheesh. Makes me wonder how people can cook well enough to feed themselves.
Guys try throwing in some browned onions, cinnamon powder(trust me) , some cardamom and bay leaves. Finish off with a little sugar and stir through once rice is cooked. This stuff is addictive. Please try it. It's our traditional style pilaf without the oil. 😋😋😋
Hey guys! Thanks for this useful video! My partner and I have just got an apartment in Thailand.. and one of our first purchases for the kitchen was a rice cooker but we had no idea you could use it for so much more than rice. Big help, thank you!
THANK YOU for this video!!! I'm about to do a big move and this will help so much. I also had no idea some cookers came with steamers. This changes everything!
Awesome!! I've just started figuring out all I can do with my rice cooker. Never thought of adding frozen veggies right in with the rice...what a great idea! I used the steamer for baby potatoes the other day and they were fantastic. Getting an instant pot today to have the ultimate two cooker set up. Lol
I'm excited to start this cooking tomorrow . I have 4 kids and doing a big move we sold our stove today and I have just a rice cooker. You guys saved my life ! Thanks
I didn't think I would love my rice cooker as much as I do. You can get a cooker at Walmart for less than $20 or I see them in the thrift stores all the time so I bought mine for $3. When I don't feel like cooking, it is one item that I will use just to get a quick easy meal. Quick rice idea. Put in brown rice, add water, add dried cranberries, add a bouillon cube crushed (I did onion), put the lid on, press down the cook button, when it snaps up to warm, take it out and enjoy. Put in white rice, add a can of mixed vegetables, a little water, add a vegetable bouillon cube crushed, add spices as desired such as garlic, onion, celery seasoning, smoky paprika, pepper, etc. Cook, Enjoy. During tomato season. I put in rice, add water, add a fresh tomato on the top. Cook, crush tomato and mix in rice. Yummy. You can add a little taco flavoring to make it mexican rice. Things I put over cooked rice: Orange sauce, teriyaki sauce, general tso sauce, gravies, cooked lentils/beans or get a package of indian food at Trader Joes like punjabi vegetables warmed up. Note: the steamer over cooks veggies so you may want to put in the veggies toward the end or use hardy veggies that don't overcook like root veggies. You can also eat rice for breakfast with fruit on it or a little sugar.
Thanks SO MUCH for this video!! I am in my 20s and I keep eating the same things because I was not taught how to cook anything growing up - so I just keep making the same things over and over that my aunt or random friends have taught me. With this video I know can cook some additional meal ideas- you just expanded what I can make - THANK YOU!!!! Subscribing because I appreciated it that much. Keep making videos like this one - teach more things you can cook with the rice cooker please!
I've used our rice cooker for a lot of things but not cooking potatoes, or pasta. However we have a full kitchen so not really necessary. BUT this is super awesome to know we can do all these things with our good ol' rice cooker!
FYI, Do not need to buy digital rice cooker. I use timer with my rice cooker. Go to work and set the timer. At 4pm, timer starts and cooks. Come home at 5 and my dish/rice is ready. Fresh rice/vegetables. Timer is a cheaper option. If rice cooker goes bad, just replace the rice cooker with your existing timer. With digital rice cooker, you have to throw away everything and need to buy another digital rice cooker. With Christmas over, timers are under $5.
Love it. You guys make being vegan and cooking food easy. It's good for busy people and people who don't cook or can't c ook or busy people in general. You also understand about the problems people have and are very intune providing solution. I did not even know you can make pasta, veg and potatoes in rice cooker.
such a good video! i'm saving a lot of effort and dishes now that i can cook rice, lentils and vegetables all at once in the rice cooker. thanks for sharing this tip!
About to order a rice cooker and doing a lot of research on it. You video was the best I found but extra bonus point...vegan! Thanks! Keep the rice cooker recipes coming!! 🙂
Just got a rice cooker and had no idea what to do with it and had trouble finding recipes. This video was very helpful and love your accents! Thanks so much!
geeeeee, you guys are amazing! I thought I did a lot of cooking with it but THIS is awesome! Gonna go for a TEFAL next time also - I am going threw my third cooker, love it! If you work in an office it is a great option to have a warm lunch! It is not only simple but so cheap also! I also do sweet meals with it: like millet and frozen fruits or so. That is stuff you always have at home. Life can be so easy! ;)
love love loveee this video!!! You guys never fail to inspire me in each and every video, and I have to say this is one of my favourites! I actually didn't know you could do all with with a rice cooker :O I LOVE minimalist living!
I live alone and only cook when my babies are here. This video will help me learn how to cook delicious meals for myself. I just bought a small rice cooker, nothing fancy. Ty so much for your video.🎉
Hi from the States!!!!Y'all are so much fun to watch. Ok,so we love our veggies, too! Something that works every time is stuffed bell peppers. Now I know there are tons of different stuffings that can be made so I just want to point out some ideas with this. When you cut your bell peppers,I think you call them capsicum in other Countries, cut them lengthwise down the middle for an easier and more attractive way of serving them. You can cook them adding veggie broth or in spaghetti sauce plus water for flavor.Zucchini or yellow squash also works as well. Many Vegan recipes also take leftovers like winter squash such as pumpkin or butternut squash and add to rice with a little garlic and olive oil which makes fir a nice rice with some chopped apple for an interesting rice cooker meal. Glad to see you two on the Internet. Hoping to share some interesting recipes. I'm a Registered Nurse and work as a travel nurse . Currently working in Las Vegas.
thanks for sharing all these ideas! I make rice and I also make vegan pulao (rice with spices and veggies). for pulao I add in fried potatoes and stir mid way. yummy food.
Another great video to add to my favourites. I have a decent rice cooker with a steamer as well. I thought I had to steam and make the rice separately but stuff that, I'll do it at the same time now. Thanks for all the other good ideas. Time to put it to use more than 3 times a week now x
Oh well I'm about to move out from my family in few months for my college and now I'm pretty sure that I will get myself a rice cooker, so easy and sooo many things can be done with it, thanks guys! :)
Awsome guys This is the first rice cooker in the family Growing up Greek there’s no such thing as a rice cooker ... iam shocked at what it can do thank you Sofia the greek😁
Been doing this for a while :-) I always cook rice, potatoes, sweet potato,.......anything I have on hand. It is the BEST way to cook stuff! Whoever invented the rice cooker deserves a pat on the back :-)
wow I have never seen a rice cooker like that! I just have a very cheap small one handed down to me and it works really well! I never tried cooking anything else in it, but wow I am definitely looking into one of these! It would make my life a lot easier when I go to school! #mealprep :D Awesome video guys !
I just ordered a Tiger digital rice cooker and will get it in 2 days. I LOVE all of the ideas you shared. Mine is 5.5 cup and has a cooking bowl on top (no holes on the bottom) that will be able to heat up Amy's vegan chili or lentils while the rice cooks...then serve it over rice. I can't wait to try different ideas as I search you-tube. I'm the only vegan around here so I thought the small 5.5 cup was big enough for my needs. Thanks for sharing.
I love my rice cooker, I cook barley, wheat berries, lentils, quinoa, all about the same time... I am due for a new one though... does the "beast" allow you to add the steamer tray later in the cooking process for a more crisp option?
Great video!! I don't have the steamer on top, but I am going to start throwing in my soaked lentils and veggies into the cooker too. Thanks to both of you!!
Thank you so much for making this video! My parent's were talking about getting a rice cooker and I can't wait to try all these out! Especially after seeing your dinners on snapchat :)
Questions: 1. how long does it take the water to boil in the rice cooker? 2. can you cook greens in the steamer part, and do they get too soggy? 3. looks like the broccoli was more than steamed--is it quite done, in other words, overdone? 4. Can you make dried, soaked overnight beans in a rice cooker? Do you have to have the digital, programmable one to do more complex meals? 5. Can you set up meals in the morning and push "Cook" and come back at night and have dinner ready?
I am 63 yrs old and recently became introduced to lentils and to rice cookers. I can't believe how easy dinner has become. Love to cook and eat, just can't stand at the stove for long.
Me to... I'm 65, just got a simple small cooker... Just an off/on
I only wish now I've learned these things I bought a little bit larger one
This should be called "How to turn a rice cooker into a Kitchen" ingenious!
+Racey Baby yep ;)

This is incredible. I've been a starving vegan for 10 years now. I won't give up, but I barely eat. This will change that. I'm extremely grateful!🙏🥰
Forgot to mention ... "the beast" (digital rice cooker) can also cook soup, bread, and cakes!!
Apparently you can even make pizza with a rice cooker, ask Immy ;)
+That Vegan Couple Bread in a rice cooker!? That's so cool...and for just around $40 US too. Good investment.
+That Vegan Couple Wow...I feel like a dumb-ass right now! Thought you could only cook rice O_o Thanks guys!!
My rice cooker makes my rice into a congealed blob of nasty gunk. Can you tell me why?
IvyPoison Too much water?? With mine it's one cup of rice to one cup of water....comes out perfect and it is only a cheap rice cooker..

I'll definitely try this
I'll definitely try this ...but what is cardamom???
Sorry but there is no way in hell in putting sugar in my rice. I'm sure it tastes good though..

Yesterday I steamed red potatoes with the rice cooker and then added vegan mayo and scallions to make potato salad 👌
This is why i am here to find out if i can cook my taters in my cooker... You answered my question. Thanks.

Questions:
1. how long does it take the water to boil in the rice cooker?
2. can you cook greens in the steamer part, and do they get too soggy?
3. looks like the broccoli was more than steamed--is it quite done, in other words, overdone?
4. Can you make dried, soaked overnight beans in a rice cooker? Do you have to have the digital, programmable one to do more complex meals?
5. Can you set up meals in the morning and push "Cook" and come back at night and have dinner ready?
you two are the most charming lovely people..I really enjoy your channel and love supporting you :)
+nyapapaya thank you :D x
