Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza glaberrima (African rice) or Oryza sativa (Asian rice). As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population, especially in Asia and Africa. It is the agricultural commodity with the third-highest worldwide production (rice, 741.5 million tonnes in 2014), after sugarcane (1.9 billion tonnes) and maize (1.0 billion tonnes). - Хобби

Perfect way to cook rice is
Wash and Soak rice for 20 mins
Meanwhile boil respective amount of water
Once water started boiling
Keep your stove in sim
Then put all the soaked rice in to that boiling water
You can add salt(it’s totally optional) I love to add salt with rice
Once rice cooked well you can check rice by mashing little with your fingers
Now you can drain water
Olden days our side villagers will together cook for entire village because of poverty
For that they used to drain water and spread those rice on bamboo mat covered with white cloth
Once fully dried They will collect and put it back to container
This way rice won’t be getting easily spoiled nor become more spiked
Very True !!!!

The second method works like a charm. I love it fluffy, individual grains, tender but not broken and clumpy. Well done, Mr. Curried.
how much time do you coock with second method? when boiling the water, how long should I boil without pot ?
@@artiny16 15 mins maybe, we generally don’t check clock while cooking but yea close to 15 mins. But you need to check weather the rice grains are cooked or not by taking few grains on finger and mashing them, if the grain mushes then drain the water. And for first method let the water evaporate and then switch of the flame.
@@artiny16it's not about time. When you add the rice to the boiling water the water will drop in temperature. It depends on your burner and pot how fast it comes back to boil. When you put the rice in pot put your burner on high. Once it's boiled taste the rice every minute or so until it's how you like it. Run a timer while you do this so you learn exactly how much time it takes on your setup. I got 4 burners and they all take different amount of time.

How to cook rice (from an Asian person):
1. Wash your rice (it doesn’t matter how many times, one rinse is enough)
2. Put another water
3. The water should be in the same length of the first line of your finger. To measure the water, place your finger above the rice (make sure it doesn’t touch the bottom of the rice cooker pot) and then make sure the water is on the same level of your finger’s first line. If it passes the line, take a bit off water. If it’s too low, pour a little bit.
4. Put it on the rice cooker
5. Turn it on
6. Wait until it beeps, the light turns orange or whatever does rice cooker do when it’s done.
Don’t use a sauce pan, use a technology like a rice cooker.
I have used your absorbtion method for years and it is the only way I am able to get perfect rice every time! Thank you so much for your insight and guidance.

Draining method is better for health. A lot of starch is drained off. So for people with blood sugar levels, this is suitable.
Thank you!

Love the way he conveys his words.. so professional!!
Good video. I prefer to soak the rice for a minimum of 30mins. And the amount of salt and water and cooking times depend on the type of rice, I.e for basmati the cooking time will be different than for kolum etc. I don't think salted water is good for plants.
Actually, salt can trigger high blood pressure, for ppl over 30 yo.better with out salt.
For 30 minutes??? Just wash your rice for 30 seconds and then you’re good.
First time I came to know..thank you. Every programme of yours

Best way to cook rice .. not only does he give perfect recipes, he also incorporates a holiday .. off to the beach now to make sure I don't get the taste of the sea wrong ..
It also depends on the type of rice. For example Bomba rice used in Paella needs 3:1 ratio water.
Thank you soo much I was able to make myself some amazing white rice ❤
Made rice for the first time in my life. With our recipe it turned out great the first time itself. Thanks 👍👍
I come back to this time and again. Good stuff!
My method never fails:
Rice in saucepan, add water, wash with fingertips, tip out cloudy water. Repeat two more times for a total of 3 washes.
Add water so that when your fingertip is on the rice your finger is submerged to the first joint.
If you add too much water, tip it out *now* before you start cooking.
Bring to boil. Stir, cover, then lowest heat setting for 10 minutes.
After the 10 minutes, turn off heat and leave covered for another 5.
Boom - Perfect rice.
My method is pour any size cup of rice and then use the same cup for 1 cup of water put it on high when it starts bubbling cover it and turn down to low/medium and summer for like 15 minutes or until the water is gone... I don't wash the rice or anything ..my only problem is the rice sticking to the bottom or some on the sides being too crunchy ..and I have to use a frying pan that perfectly fits my burner or else only the middle cooks
@@nonamesinenomine I think it gets burnt or sticks because you need to add a bit more water. The first finger joint is a good water measure method
Well explained and the timing is so accurate. Amazing!!
I can't believe I made the perfect absorbed rice. TBH I was bit skeptical at first that this method won't work, even after 8 minutes I was like "I think I ruined it again" but when I kept it for more 3 minutes with lid on OMG that turned out just perfect 😍 Thank you so much Sir Keep it up ❤

DRAINED METHOD WAS INCREDIBLE
Thank you... I have made rice for the first time after watching your video.. and it turned out to be super perfect 😍.. thank you again sir
Perfect every time! Thank you!! Ps absorption method is my fave 🤗
Ho ok 😊
Thank you for the detailed video. Even though cooking rice is basic to some of us, it is always interesting to watch and learn small details and variations.
Perhaps it would be appropriate to mention here that Draining method helps to remove the starch from rice, which is advised as diabetic friendly. Interestingly this used to be the only method used to cook rice when we were children, some half century ago in Bangalore. Absorption method as it is now called didn’t begin until the advent of pressure cooker.
So if we adopt draining method to lower sugar intake then the drained water, or ganji , should not be used to mix dough or batter. It can be diluted and fed to plants or can be fed to cows without diluting.
Thank you so much!/Muchas gracias!
Thanks for the advice!
wow, looks amazing. Hope I can nail this once I move in with my husband soon lol
Awesome video! But I think you missed one small point.
After how many minutes should we remove the lid in the absorption method when the rice is cooked?
Homie, just get a rice cooker

Many Thanks Bro for the Professional Tutorial.
So helpful I normally dont cook rice because I'm so afraid I will mess it up
The video is nice but the cooking time will be different for the various varieties of rice. The timing might work for non parboiled rice but it won't work this way for parboiled rice. The different varieties of parboiled rice would take different amount of time to get cooked properly. Even in the case of non parboiled rice, the aged rice would take more time than the non-aged new rice. So there can't be one trick for all. The absorption method only works well with non parboiled rice. If parboiled rice is cooked in absorption method, the rice will be extremely starchy and will be really heavy for the stomach and also the taste would not at all be nice. So to make rice, we have to follow the trail and error method to know which rice variety work which way. There can't be any standard. Thank you.
When it comes to rice, there is only trial and error as far as im concerned. Start with with what the package suggests and then go from there to find what works best for you. I have multiple types of rice in my pantry and anytime i have to/choose to change brands for some reason, the rice has to be cooked differently in some way. For me standard white rice is the most problematic. But parboiled and basmati are usually just minor tweaks. And as far as wild rice goes, i usually just boil it to the doneness i want.
I learnt it. Thank you. God bless you
great video! Lovely voice and straight to the point!
Now this is the complete beginner's guide to boiled rice! Unlike other videos that finish at the stage where the rice is still undercooked.
Thank you bro....🙏🏻

Very good instructions to cook rice. Thank you sir.
May I still add some findings of my own regarding cooking rice... Well, there is no need to wash rice before cooking, at least here where I live. The rice is clean and it will be sterilized while cooking - all the bugs and microbes will die in the boiling water.
Then you need to decide which water/rice ratio you want to use. The higher the ratio, the softer the rice will become. I've found the ratio 4 be very good. Take 100 g of rice and add 400 g of water. Put lid on the kettle, heat the water to boiling, cut the heat off and allow the kettle to simmer without heat. Eventually all the water is absorbed in the rice. There you get 500 g of cooked rice from 100 g of rice. Tasteful! If you want harder rice, reduce the water/rice ratio from 4 to 3.5 of even 3...
Cooking rice is easy, if you happen to be an engineer ;-) And if you have a balance to weight rice and water, please use it... Additionally, please always use weights in cooking and not volumes. If you are able to. Volumes tend to be inaccurate, but weights are exact.
It was very helpful. Thank a-lot brother for such nice explanation video. Kudos
