Yes, perfect water ratio. If you do 1:1 its too dry and burnt. 2 cups of rice 3.5 cups of water is perfect.

I always cook jasmine/basmati with 1½ cups of water per 1 cup of rice. Then of course I let the rice cooker sit for 10mins after it's done. Perfect rice.

@@giant416man Lid on, this allows the rice to soak up the remaining steam for extra fluffy rice.

@vBDKv I appreciate this info. I've been having too many mushy rice meals. I use jasmine rice. I figured I had been using too much water. I'll give this a shot

@@AMO17 Jasmine and basmati both cook the same, so it's easy to remember :) Oh and I dont soak them, but I do wash em - Otherwise the rice cooker will spew hot rice starch all over the kitchen.

Works great if you pay attention to instructions. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia For those that complain about "mushy" or "wet" rice I suspect they are using the included cup to measure rice (which is really only 3/4 cup) and then putting in water using a separate measuring cup that is a full cup. This results in too much water and you will get mushy or wet rice and think it is not done. Just use the included cup for both rice and water, or your own measuring cup for rice and water according to your package directions. It will come out fine. I've used mine for years for brown and white rice. If your machine is bubbling white froth out of the steam vent then it means you should have rinsed your brand of rice first to remove some of the starch. Sheesh. Makes me wonder how people can cook well enough to feed themselves.

ADD A TABLE SPOON OF COCONUT MILK POWDER AND A TEA SPOON OF GREEN CURRY PASTE TO THE RICE WHEN COOKING, EVEN ADD SOME SPINACH TO IT, WHITE RICE IS EVEN BETTER THAT WAY.

What is the ratio for just 1 cup? Thank you for this video, my rice is not fully cooked and i wasn’t sure what i was doing wrong. I don’t wash my rice maybe that’s why.

Rice has 2 kinds of sugars (starch) amylose and amylopectin long rice usually has amylose and lil bit of amylopectin but some have both.
when you're washing the rice you're really just removing this excess starch off of it.
For some you have to wash more for some kind of rice like the one used to make Risotto you don't wash the rice at all as you need that creamy texture.
Now the rice to water ratio depends on the type of rice
I'm from South India (Telangana) and we use HMT Sonamasoori rice we usually use 1.5-2cups of water to 1 cup of rice
For basmati rice for 1 cup of rice we use 2.5-3 cups of water
(If you're planning to use basmati after washing soak them for 15-25 min)
The difference in that .5 is because of the cooking method and type of cooker used.
      Thanks.

When the cooking is done and it's on warm, do i unplug it for the 10 minutes or leave it plugged in and leave it on warm for 10 minutes?

I was using my rice cooker for the first time the other day & the water was bubbling & frothing over, I had to open the lid to stop it a couple of times. Is that normal? I didn’t add any oil (my mistake) & perhaps I didn’t put enough or too much water in.

do u have a steaming tray? if so put it in nd u wont have any spilling, if u didnt use too much water. i can recommend using vegi/chicken stock/broth as replacement for salt, or as addition. ur rice will taste 20x better. I never used any oil for my rice thou, never had to prolly will never.
Sometimes i like to get that extra crust from the rice, its a deli in the middle eastern countries, there are even specialised rice cookers for that.
Rule #1 is never open ur ricecooker after u put the rice in nd started the cooking process
Rule #2 always rinse off ur rice, this is the biggest difference. ( i am kinda dissapointed this video shows tips i would never recommend anyone ) its mostlikely the best if u go watch some authentic videos on other channels. (sorry but not sorry, because the information here is quite wrong)

Kind of defeats the purpose of having a time saving cooking appliance, if prep for rice takes 25 minutes before you start cooking in rice cooker

    • @lanceareadbhar
      @lanceareadbhar 3 месяца назад

I would personally recommend taking the few minutes to wash the rice, but the 15 minute soak would be solely based on preference and assuming you have the time since you don't need to do anything while it's soaking.

Nah, not perfect. Using a non stick is cheating, use a boring rice cooker instead, the one without non-stick coating. I use boring rice cooker to make a perfectly cooked rice.
