Can MSS springs give our M2 GTS the stance we want whilst improving handling?

- After the success of fitting MSS Suspension on our F80 M3 we were keen to give it a test on our F87 M2 GTS too, so we reverted the car back to stock suspension to test, and then fitted the MSS Height Adjustable Springs to see if we could get a good stance and a handling/comfort upgrade.

Man every single time I look at one of your videos it makes me wish I could work for you guys. It’s sooo cool what you do, modifying and testing to get the perfect solution. Keep the awesome work (and content) going! 👍🏼
Hi Imran - love the way that you and your team are so thorough in the way you research and evaluate before modifying - great to see a team that are so professional in their approach - keep up the good work. 👍😀
Thank you Kev 🙏
Great video! Thank you for the insight, You just helped me with my decision to go with these.
Great! Let us know if we can assist you with the supply of them. 👍
Evolve Automotive how much for shipping to Big Island of Hawaii? My zip code 96738. I should be receiving my M2 competition in April. I’ll be the first person on my island to get one.

Always enjoy your videos and the way you go about your mods..not to just have bragging rights or just looks but to enhance the product no matter the project...as a car lover and enthusiast, in a world that’s gone bammy with more sideways driving and shedding of tires rather the pure fun of handling and a proper tune without over the top mods...no offense to anyone..am just a simple old school guy who believes you can have fun in any car with the right tweaks...it’s refreshing to see someone who loves just down to earth progressive enhancement whether in looks, performance or handling!!!! Great job....keep doing it...you are a dying breed..in a world now more full of quick fix solutions to make a buck and little if any time earned experience!!! My ‘umble opinion😅✌️
Thank you sir. That is probably the most thoughtful message I have ever received on RUclips. May you have a blessed day 🙏
Evolve Automotive Glad to encourage where I see passion shine through...wish you, your family and staff good health..safe tidings during this trying times!,
Once I have an M2C, I'll defo be bringing it down for this suspension!
You won't be disappointed 😊
Look forward to seeing the results with upgraded HPFP on stock turbo. I’m currently running 430bhp and 669nm on maxed out standard pump, very interesting to see what the standard turbo can actually do 👍🏻
Oooooo nice M2 imran ❤🔥 keep it up 🙏
Cheers man. We intend to!
Imran, I installed on an F80. I have the adjusters on the front all the closed. Can you please advise me on what measurement I should set the rear to ensure I have at-least an additional 5mm on the rear. I know the obvious answer is take the rear off, and adjust and measure, but I was looking for at-least a starting point.
Love your videos! What would you recommend if the main use is trackdays, like for example on Nurburgring?
Obviously haven’t tried MSS at the Nurburgring but it’s not the smoothest of surfaces so I imagine they would cope well. Plus assumedly you would be driving to/from as well.
As a mixed use setup, MSS and some Bilstein dampers will take a lot of beating. I think you’d need to spend a fair amount more on coilovers (Bilstein Clubsport for example) to see any real benefit for purely track use.
It all depends how full on you want to get with the track use. MSS also offer a track setup I believe but have not tested them ourselves as our cars are for road use mainly.
Hey Imran, nice review those springs seem to be a good fix for the M2 particularly for daily driving purposes. I’ve sent an email to you for a quote👍🏻
Thanks! One of the sales teams will get back to you ASAP. They are perfect for daily driving.
Hi Evolve! I have a rare Mk 5 Jetta 2.0 TSi, would MSS do a kit for that? Would really prefer the MSS setup, as I don't wanna go the whole full adj kit. I'm a local guy love spotting some of your projects and customer cars, floating around town. I apprciate I'm in an oldish car, but its worth restoring with a kit like MSS.
Hi @Imran I know the virus has slowed things down but wondered how the custom Bilstein shocks were coming along? Cheers
Hi Imran and co.. Great vid as always!!
That M2 is the original M2 GTS 🔥
I'm absolutely loving my MSS suspension kit I had fitted just yesterday.
As you know I went for the 25 / 20 drop on my M235i but I'm already thinking of going lower lol...
It really is a worthy upgrade it feels another level when pushing on 😁
Even the braking feels smoother which I never even expected... I'm impressed. What drop did you guys set up front and rear on your M2?
Thanks again 👊
Great to hear that! From memory the front is all the way down, the back is 10mm off bottom? Good bit about the MSS is you have that adjustability!
Was really impressed after driving your car again afterwards, fantastic to hear you have a similar impression!
So do they really improve the ride quality? I'd be buying the MSS kit purely to improve the ride of my B9 S4, daily driving with stiff suspension destroys my soul!
@@norafirestorm yes they really do improve the ride and overall handling. It feels very planted through the corners and there is no compromise with a harsh ride either. I had lowering springs prior to the MSS and although it gripped well every bump in the road was amplified! The MSS kit is s lot better.👍
Good video
My M2 is also very jumpy
Would the eibach springs be a good upgrade ?
Just the springs with original demper
No Eibach springs won't help. The ones we fitted in this video would though.
Great video. Shame the price has gone up on these. I was sold but £1100 for springs is too close to coilover money to justify skimping. Looks like from the comments they used to be in the £800 range which would have just about made sense for me.
Imraan your mods are very tasteful man
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Luv it
Which app was used to measure ride quality ?
what a glorious exhaust sound ! Any plans for those springs for e92 m3?
Full Supersprint Exhaust does make the N55 sing a beautiful tone! No plans for the MSS on the E92 M3 at present.
Hey , love the ride height and stance . How much is it lowered in mm in the front and rear here ? Also any spacers ? Thanks
This is the MSS kit set to its lowest setting. Wheels are a different offset.
This guy....👌🤙
I just bought a 16 plate m4 all bone stock, is the crank hub failure something to worry about?
Class video also.
The chance of it happening on a stock car is low.
forgive me if I missed it in the video but does this create a softer feel to the car? Often times people say "improves handling" but that can be very subjective (some might want with a stiffer suspension. Some might want softer feel than stock but still able to maintain cornering)
Yes it's definitely more compliant. That's the beauty of this kit.
Does a car fitted with MMS need to have the tracking/alignment done afterwards?
Any suspension change should have the alignment checked and corrected if need be afterwards for optimal handling/tyre wear.
Springs will settle over a week or so, and need to be changed if the height is changed. For this reason we recommend you drive your usual routes for a few days to see if the height works for you and to allow the springs to settle before having the alignment checked. We can also get this done for a customer if they want.
Love way the car looks on the springs, with the reduction in wheel gap. What are the specs on the tires?
Tyres are stock sizes
I have Ohlins on my F87 now. I was wondering if MSS springs will be a upgrade for better ride?
It’s hard to say without knowing what Ohlins you have. The MSS is an upgrade over lowering springs or cheap coilovers, but Ohlins is a tough challenge to beat!
Looking forward to getting these springs in my M4 Friday @deathlyhallow_m4 Another great and informative post 👍🏼
Nice choice :-)
Is this kit a good upgrade for track as well? Can you ship this kit to states?
Our customers have used on track to good effect. Yes we can ship to USA.
It looks to stay together well and you were pressing on. I think the stock car gets some bad stick tbh but it does need a touch more compliance. I was uhm and ahhing about the Litchfield AST setup, but that's a nearly three grand leap of faith. Now interested in these and previously don't like the idea of spring swaps due to compromise being made somewhere. Might be my next mod now as have done M4 carbon engine brace retrofit which is great.
Just springs does not cut it. You get the aesthetics but not the ride/handling. This is a great product for compliance and aesthetics if you want to lower the car. Of course with this system you don't have to. It can be ran at stock height. If you feel you need to take the suspension to the next stage after the MSS you could add a set of the Bilstein dampers we are having made for this application. The total cost would still be below £2k for the whole set up.
@@EvolveAutomotive Yeh I don't actually want to lower the car or if I did by 1cm max as it's my DD and worry enough as it is about speed bumps and kerbs.
Why with the MSS solution is the triple rate only used on the rear if it works so well why not at the front too? And on the rear the larger orange spring with dual rates, is it one spring physically or two separate springs integrated as can't see from video. Either way less complex than coilovers which sometimes need rebuilding, these look more 'fire and forget'.
Re: the bilstein dampers, will you be tuning for compliance/UK? Thanks
@@peterwood2633 it is one spring with two rates. There is a reason why it doesn't work well on the front I will ask MSS to explain in a future video. The Bilstein dampers are based on our use on the B16 kit over the last 3 years on UK roads.
@@EvolveAutomotive be interesting to see what MSS say. To be clear, if you lower with the MSS do you compress the springs or lose travel and sacrifice something in terms of ride at that point or is the point of the system that you can lower but not have the usual pitfalls of a lowering spring setup? Thanks
I have a question about the H. A. S. Kit from KW for the M2C, for a total M2 toy project would get it or save for money for the V3 full coilover system? I wouldn’t track it, just run through bumpy back roads, I miss that front end grip and lateral grip tho, I wanted to feel more of the car but 2,600 dollars is a lot for the full KW system, also great video you have the dream M2. I wish mineral gray was an option for the M2C.
For a car you want to enjoy the handling characteristics of, especially on bumpy roads we wouldn’t recommend the KW HAS at all. It’s great for getting low on stock dampers but a lot of sacrifices.
Would recommend something like the MSS HAS we use in this video, or Bilstein B16 which we have also used extensively on our car.
@@EvolveAutomotive thank you very much
@@vollcare4076 I'm sure you've asked before and we've advised you MSS do not share their spring rates. If you love KW so much that's fine but you don't need to keep asking the same things about MSS .
Hi could you please tell me if you sell the m2cs style bonnet for a 2016 m2, great videos by the way. Regards john
Thanks! We sell the one that is on our car. Its based on the M4 GTS / M4 CS bonnet.

Imran, noticed this on MSS channel ruclips.net/video/Qd41l1uvOx0/видео.html, which way round should the rear springs be fitted?
Depends on the vehicle.
f87 club!
How does the mms suspension compare to the B16 kit?
Different price point and intended purpose. When we add our own custom Bilstein dampers then it will be a real comparison.
Evolve Automotive
Price aside - just on pure road handling street and track?
Nice review Imran, I'm sold. I think Ash mentioned that MSS are revising the kit?. What's the difference, what's the timeline for the revised one and is the one on the Evolve site the exisiting version?.
The kit has now be revised and we fitted one this week!
The difference is the adjuster is now on the bottom at the front rather than the top, making it easier to adjust. Performance is identical it’s just some feedback we gave them after installing and adjusting a few sets.
Already turning out to be a very popular product with great customer feedback.
@@EvolveAutomotive Good to know, and even better to know they take your feedback and revise. Last (and most expensive question!)..I'm a Brit expat in Australia, do you guys ship out here?
We certainly can! Drop an email to sales@evolveautomotive.com and we can find out how much it costs to get a set down under 👍🏻
@@EvolveAutomotive You're a legend, thanks again Imran. I'll drop you a line and then prepare my business case to the other half!
MrWozzathelad I live in Aus (Brisbane) maybe we can buy 2 sets and split the shipping costs?
KW height adjustable spring kit or MSS adjustable springs for the M2?
Due to the triple spring rate on the rear the MSS for sure. It's a different product to the KW.
Evolve Automotive is their product advertised accurately for the M2? They get terrible customer service reviews on the forums in the US as well as false advertisement claims when it comes to how low some of their springs drop the car.
@@matthewprall9135 you can see the drop on our M2 in this video. We have been involved with the development as our cars were used as the test beds for the BMW M range. We also have the kit on our RS3 which you can also see a video on. Personally we haven't had any issues with the kits not lowering the required amount.
Do these come for an M3 E 92 by any chance?
No plans to make for the E92 M3 at the moment.
Evolve Automotive Hopefully in the future but thank you the prompt reply 👊
😍😍😍😍
Torquing all the bolts and bushes with suspension at full droop 🙈
Kits a nice bit of kit other than that though
Didnt know there was an M2 GTS, was this manufactured originally by the M-division?
BMW never built it so we did, to mimic the M4 GTS in every way, including water methanol injection.
@@EvolveAutomotive thnks for the answer, nice car :)
Evolve Automotive
Is there any way to make my m240i handle like the m2?
There’s a lot of changes between the 2 cars, so without fitting all those parts, truthfully no.
However I did test a customers M235i yesterday, before and after MSS and it was a very good improvement.
Yes. Trade it in for an M2 ;-)
@@nurburgringuk i bought my car already for 43k euro the m2 was another 20k added too that + 5k more taxes and 1000 euro more a year to keep it on the road and another 150 a month insurance. I did not have the money to do that otherwise i would of done it, tust me xp
@@EvolveAutomotive alrighty, thx for reply.
@@DDG-Downfall Yeah I get it. I was only teasing mate. The M240i is a great car, to improve it you need the M2/3/4 control arms, better dampers/springs and a LSD.
AC Schitzner suspension set up?
I’m not sure what your question is, but no this is not the ACS setup.
We also had a customer come in last week with the ACS springs for M4, who replaced them with MSS, and he couldn’t believe how much better the MSS suspension was. Don’t take our word for it - @deathlyhallow_m4 on Instagram
Evolve Automotive wow that’s impressive. I’ve currently got the acs setup on my M5, it’s improved the handling and the comfort. May have to look in to the MSS. Thanks
