Quad-Stack Polymer AK Magazines?!

- Yes, you heard that right. The Bosnians have had plenty of experience with the AK platform. So much so that a Bosnian company called AC-Unity is putting out a quad-stack 7.62x39 magazine. We had to jump on a plane and see it for ourselves. We put the magazine through its paces with various AKs and it performed beautifully. See for yourself.

I'd like to see footage of one gun in one cut going through 60 rounds without a malfunction.
Especially after the gun would have dropped to the ground, once or twice.
@@Ozone077 You need to look up the foreign reviews of this mag. They really torture the fuck out of them and not one malfunction.

Magpul definitely didn't invent the concept of polymer magazines
No they didn't. Thermold has been making polymer mags since the 70's.
@@shanebrewer8892 if we're talking about mass produce then RUSSIA's Bakelite mag is actually the first polymer mag
@Dollar Hanjabam I knew the Russians were using plastics. I didn't kuow how far back it went. Thermold makes an AK mag, and an AR mag. Most don't kuow that there are several other mag designs held by the company but aren't im production as there isn't much of a market for them.
well there definitely the first thing that pops into someones mind when you hear polymer mags
SINCE MAGPUL INVITED THE CONCEPT!? BWAHAHAHAHAHHAAAHA. this guy never seen an ak74 mag...or a bakelite?
Back in 1985, an articulated mold of that size would have cost upwards of $250,000 to make, and it would have required a massive (and massively expensive) injection-molding machine. Much respect to our Bosnian brothers and sisters for nailing this!
AC Uniti makes its own molds
.The owner is a genius for polymer technology
City of Gorazde is known for experienced engineers, high quality polymer products that are exported for known EU companies. AC Unity is relatively new into mags, but i m pretty sure they will consider users feedback for further improvements.
They need to make an octo-stack extended-length magazine.
This is so new that neva been dun befo
@Boob Tube This is the best shit I have ever heard....
@Water King that is some funny shit man.
@Water King Funniest shit I’ve seen in 2 weeks
Since Magpul invented the concept.... Lulz. Should’ve edited that one out man.
🤣
This is the best manufacturer retrospective I have ever seen... Started off like a professional documentary..... Well done.
Go Bosnia they make damn good rifles and pistols AC Uniti make, i cant wait to get my hands on one of tham firearms
Just discovered AC-Unity magazines. I'm quite impressed with their quality. I'd be very interested in trying one of these quad stacks
Any updates?
@@altitudeadjustment259 just picked up one of the gun show works perfect in my zestiva
A beautiful industry in a beautiful town
I spotted those mags at the Reno gun show yesterday. I'll have to buy some now....after seeing this video.
Mixflip Extra
I’ve done some drop testing on their 7.62 mags. 30 and 40 round mags. Windowed and regular style both loaded dropped from shoulder height. Sides, bottom, and feed lips.... feed lips cracked on non windowed version
Now if you’re not a caveman they are great lightweight mags for range use. Not 100% reliable for me but YMMV
Cost$?

How is this channel not more popular!? Iain is the man
Because its all a load of bullshit.
Because of BS like "Now, making polymer magazines is of course nothing new since Magpul invented the concept over a decade ago"
my first time watching this... it feels like it was meant for the minds of small children. something is just 'off'
HVALA TI FADILE
Give me drop tests, mud tests, run n gun tests, then a good inspection on the mags. Not just a brand new mag dumping 60 rds.
they ran it over with a yugo, did pushups with it, you can check it out if you google.
Magpul invented polymer mags? The Russians were using them before the west was haha.
Tell me about it. Any excuse to shit on the Russians or just ignore their achievements.
I do love the channel though, and the video was very good. Ian is a man after my own heart and he's from my neck of the woods too, judging from the accent!
@@Snakebloke Bakelite is a form of polymer, actually.
Bakelite mags - ask any Russian 😉😁
i think he meant quad mags not polymer mags
@@metaphorpritam While true, Bakelite mags are t actually made out of bakelite, but a different more durable black polymer that is painted brown.
superb AK + Quad-Stack 60 rounds magazine
This is a high quality production 👍
Daaaamn that guy knows something about charisma.
Hes gay, apparently.
Wonder if quadstacks would be more reliable if the gun was designed to use them by default.
It really doesn’t matter how the mag is stacked (if done properly).
All that matters if the mag is a single feed or dual feed (when it comes to feeding into the rifle).
The Spectre smg was designed to use 50 round 9mm quadstacks, sadly the gun didn't catch on that much, so not much is known about reliability on em.
That's like suggesting triangle-shaped tires could be more effective than round ones if used by the right vehicle.
@@KC-bg1thno? There is no advantage to triangle tires, bit quadstacks have a distinct advantage, they just currently have feeding/reliability issues
@@marcusborderlands6177 And i thought giving quadstacks a less agressive taper might improve the feeding.
What's that thing at 2:53? Looks like the Bosnian made AC-UNITY ALFA AC-SMG9. The first Bosnian made rifle. Would love to see a video of that thing. Great channel btw. Tons of content, I don't know how I just now came across it.

I LOVE the AK platform and despise the AR platform.Yea, I said it.
Noone really cares both platforms are highly respected and have pros and cons
In this day and age it's entirely up to the consumer to pick which platform they prefer only children fight about such things
True gun lovers like both of the platforms!
Both are good!
@@mr.angryman3599
The AK no longer offers anything the AR doesnt do much better.
Not reliability, not serviceability, not accuracy, not recoil, not accessories, or range.
The AR is superior in every way.
I own a half dozen AKs, and I love them, but to say they are better than the AR is asinine.
Great, it only took 40+ years to get that shit working, I carried a M16 in basic, biggest piece of shit ever, during the 90's when I had an FFL and knew a class 3 dealer they were still a pos, we spent more time replacing parts then shooting.
Best AK Video EVER!!! Actually Shows what 700rpm Looks like vs Vickers Tactical. As for the Intro, Sucks to have AAA Raining Down from the Hillsides
I want the extended version of this 4stack
There is a similar mag in Russia. It is made by puf gun (basicly russian magpul). The russian one is a little bit simpler in production, but is not in sale right now(
This polymer quad magazine looks and sounds great.because it's made for compact .launches.
I must have missed the part where they were getting made seeing as merely showing a mold on a skid in the middle of the shop floor isn't how they are made. Does showing a burger patty laying on the kitchen floor count as showing how a big mac is made?
I thought the same thing. I also love how there were so many cuts you can only guess how many jams there were.
@@psychzach1588 This is what i was thinking
Well, since the tool was on the floor my guess is that they were producing something else in the machines at the time. Possibly other types of mags.
That depends on if they're filming a Mcdonald's or not. XD

I looked into poly mags in the 70s but my take on them was to have boxes of loaded mags and have them single use... just burn and discard....

Aint u fancy shooting brass 7.62
I have a 30 and 40 round gen2 they have stepped up there quality
I have like 6 of these mags I picked up for 6 dollars a pop thinking they were cheap shit since they were half the price of KCI ones, but I got to admit they are pretty damn reliable surprisingly
@Inconvenient Truths Indeed bullshit. I think the op probably got some of the companies regular 30 rd mags which are going for about $6 if you get them from the right place. These quad stacks are more than 10x that which to me makes no sense. If I can get 10 30rd magazines for less than 1 60 rd magazine, I'm buying 10 magazines lol.
@@mikefelty2625 well, you can't have 60rds in then.
@@tshds5826 I can use mag couplers to link two 30 round mags together, and still have 60 rounds for about 1/3 of the price of a 60 round quad mag. Plus, from my experience those mags have feeding issues more often than most 30 round mags.
@@mikefelty2625 well, that's a different thing. Also, I can't agree on the last part with you.
@@tshds5826 It's still a cheaper option. And you don't have to agree. You've apparently had better luck with them than I and others I know have. Sometimes I have luck with things that others don't, and vice versa.👍🏼
5:01 bolt locked to the rear
Yeah i was asking myself why the bolt locked back. Was it a failure to feed or what

Ambrose-adventure buy one off the market
Well seeing how the latest Covid-19 scare has gotten people running to gun stores including people who probably never wanted to own guns in the first place. CA might be changing soon...
Of course it will function with brass-cased ammunition. These types of magazines do not reliably work with steel-cased ammunition...you know...the most common casing for AK ammo.
Cost?
I just had a thought. Instead of using quad stack mags to increase capacity, why not use the technology to make standard capacity mags more compact?
you could make the bullets smaller or use a shrink ray
@@jolosarmiento7382 I was talking about 30 round AK mags that are as long as a 10 round mag for example.
Sounds like a great idea. Some 30 round magazines are long enough that they can get get in the way if u try to use a bipod.
I honestly didn't know they made AR mags
When are these available
It's like Charlton Heston and Steve Irwin had a baby.
Yea that's cool but where do I order 30 from?
I noticed a smooth diagonal edge by the opening of the magazine.. Does anyone know or think that these will fit a Galil ACE 7.62X39? Galils have a diagonal mag shroud that only allow certain mags.
Round 70 Galil Rifle
Bakelite was one of the first successfully implemented crosslinked polymers... and russians were making mags out of it since the birth of the ak.
No, Russians weren't making magazines out of bakelite - you should check your info. They are just called bakelite but aren't made of it.
@@BloPsy__ Bakelite is a phenol formaldehyde crosslinked polymer. AG-4S is what the Russians used to make magazines, grips, etc.
AG-4S is not bakelite in the processing and synthesis, however it is also a phenol formaldehyde crosslinked polymer composite usually with glass reinforced fibers.
Though bakelite was not the exact same, AG-S4 is absolutely a derivative from the original bakelite.
Bakelite is truly just a made up name. If we really wanted to be exact we would refer to the chemical structure and bonding mechanism.
Nice

I've heard mixed reviews of these magazines. More for a range magazine than a go to war magazine. Made of polymer but still break at the feed lips when dropped.
Didn't rhe Russians also have a similarly designed mags for the RPK-16?
@@ArcturusOTE i believe so but the RPKs were normally issed with 40 round 7.62x 39mm mags and 45 round 5.45 x 39 mags. The 45 rounders are popular with the AK74 variants most notably with the AK-74U.
