Jonathan Cineus actually the costume designer had made an historically accurate dress but Emma refused to wear it and had it changed just like she refused to wear corsets
It's Jakia Everyone thought Emma was a great choice at first but her harsh political stance on creative decisions (and her bland acting) exposed her as the biggest problem with this movie.
To be fair it sounds like they had their hearts set on Emma Watson to be Belle and she might have possibly twisted their arms to let her make a lot of the creative decisions. However it happened they ended up letting her make decisions not only with the dress, but even with the story. Honestly, they made a huge mistake letting the actress do anything but act. That girl is 👏UN👏ED👏U👏CAT👏ED👏 when it comes to corsets and it drives me nuts!! 🙄 Almost right at the beginning of this video, it’s even mentioned how one of the main purposes of corsets back then was to evenly distribute the weight in a way that all of those heavy, extravagant skirts were comfortably supported on the body. The fact that she refused to wear a corset completely tied their hands at creating an accurate Belle dress. So tragic, and all as a result of her ignorance. Emma Watson *refused* to wear a corset, and the director pushed the designer to comply to her wishes even though the designer disagreed (and knew her way around historically accurate pieces). This is gorgeous! It’s competes with live action Cinderella’s dress in pure wow!!!💙
Thank you so much!!!
Disney shoulda hired this woman
I LOVE this new design! Much more form flattering and I love the new fabric!
Thank you!! I totally agree! I feel like I have really cemented my dress makomg skills
I am in love with this dress, absolutely stunning
Looks better than the live action movie. Incredible!
Thank you so much!
THIS IS INCREDIBLE
thank you so much for sharing this
totally second the idea that this is how Belle should have looked in the live action version
Yo this is better than the movie dress
Thanks so much!!
I've always wanted my dream wedding dress to be Belle's dress, but in white with gold accents. You're giving me too much hope 😭
It's so possible! If you're local to CA I'd be happy to commission it for you! I made my best friend's wedding dress recently!
Goddamn the dress looks better than the live action's dress
The layers, frills, and design are just so perfect- I honestly think you should've been the one to play belle or at least design the dress 🦀
Glad to see this tutorial! Is shows that it is possible to make a Belle's dress which matches the vision from the animated version and looks amazing in reality. The one from the 2017 movie was a disappointment. Your dress is a dream! 🥰
What I really love about this dress is it fit the 1700's ballgown theme same years of the timeline of the beauty and the beast, but it still so outstanding and its beautiful details completed the dress, I also love the golden fabrics and details in the gown it really match the look. I really love the dress, keep up the good work
Absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to the MNSSH Party as Belle and was making an over skirt for my dress. Seeing this inspired me to use lace and to use the pleating method instead of the gathered methods I kept seeing. Thank you!
Watching this gave me chills...well done! Far beyond what I imagined for Belle's dress, really beautiful!!!
PS: your voice is beautiful! You'd make a great Belle!
Thank you so so much!!!
This is seriously gorgeous and underrated as heck
OMG THE DETAILS-
This dress looks absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you so much!!!
This is soo georgeous! I am making my 3 neices disney princesses for halloween this year and I WILL be making a mini version of this dress for my 7 year old neice. I can't wait to get started.
You did amazing and you look BEAUTIFUL!! This is the Belle dress we all deserved. Knowing that Emma Watson is the reason we didn’t get it definitely makes me have a couple of feelings about her.
This is far WAY better than the one in the live-action movie.
Wow that’s a stunning dress well done so beautiful
This tutorial upon my favourite Disney Princess will be my most ambitious dream to create!! THANK YOU MISS BLACKWELL!! (I already have Belle's wig) First outfit creation will be her classic village dress and blouse!
This is the dress that should've be in the live action movie. Btw your voice is awesome. ❤
Thank youuuu!!!
The dress is beautiful, your voice is beautiful, you're beautiful!! ❤
The fact that the design is better than the live action movie. dfhfhsifh
Thank you for giving me what Disney in 2017 would not🌺

Awh thank you so so much! I really appreciate it! Our little community is definitely growing!💜
The movie dress is the undergarment that goes under this one. 🗿
You have officially made a better dress than Disney's professional costume designer. Good job.
that's a better job than the disney world character costume and wig. so gorgeous
Thank you so much!!
This dress is STUNNING! I think I would’ve worked better for beauty and the beast, but I really don’t that the one in the movie was ugly at all! I actually personally really think that the dress in the movie is gorgeous
Thank you! This is such an inspiring tutorial and I am using it for inspiration for my cinderella costume for my school's production!
Woaah a true re-creation of the dress. Good job! ♡
So beautiful
Wow, brilliant tutorial! And you look so gorgeous in that dress! 😍
This dress is a hundred times better than the dress from the Disney live action
Wow😍 the dress is beautiful
The fact that a COSPLAY is so much better than the live action
what. 😃
That's because Emma watson think that intelligent women shouldn't wear jewelry and corset, the designer have to redo the dress because she didn't want to wear it
Gorgeous dress. Gotta see how it twirls on the dance floor, though. That's why the live action dress was changed.
You only lacked the golden gloves, I think they are such a nice detail, but overall this dress looks soooooo much better than the one on the live action, holy shit.
