@@solesuna Evan and Katelyn would rock that! Love the vlog-style! Kinda feels like we're watching Bella Mae undergo Fairy Godmother boot camp, where they're forced to make Cinderella dresses by hand before they are allowed to do it the easy way with magic.
learning something the hard way before the easy isnt always a technique i agree with but this time it works! you wanna make the dress without magic to realize every little detail in it so when you finally make the dress with magic it'll be even more perfect in a way

As a fellow perfectionist, I can completely understand. Your hard work and skill payed off. I am not a seamstress, or even a casual sewing person, but I could definitely see the difference. It all looks beautiful!
This was so cool to watch! I’m not a skilled sewer or anything but I too was like oh daaaamn at the change on how it moved and opened “like a rose”. Adding those flounces to the inner hoop was sooo transformative too. 💕
That is the dress of a lifetime. Of course the original was made with a team of sewists and you have done this all by yourself. Not easily done by oneself. I am glad that you shared all the ups and downs. That is reality!! A truly magnificent job!!
this is not a perfectionist problem, this is seeing problems and resolving them to make the finished item much more amazing. First I saw the first version of this petticoat, I was like "Well it will look much better with the rest of the dress on...hopefully" but now I actually see Cinderella dress in full motion
Tacking layers together is something I've seen done with ballet tutus, to prevent the layers from separating out or becoming too fluffy. Called swing catches I think.
But I think she wanted the layers to separate more? Like the flounces kinda "stuck together" when she was dancing in the beginning, but at the end, due to the added frills and flounces, the skirt opened up a lot more, like a rose
I believe the term is called french tacks. A chain of thread similar to a belt loop. You can make them as long or short as needed to achieve the effect you need. Lots of earlier dresses have them to hold a lining in place without the constraint of tacking the layers together thus allowing movement but not total shifting as she was experiencing. I noticed them used on wedding gowns to hold the layers together but still allow movement.
@@deadbybee I think you're misunderstanding. The goal is to control the movement of the petticoat not open it more. That involves *how* each layer flows and opens up. Tacking it down in certain areas prevent the frills from compressing together in a spin so each layer can only go so far. Each individual rose petal opens up less the closer to the center it is; so the closer to the hoop skirt, the more tightly tacked down the skirt layers will be.
@@bigdadbeefsticks I agree, watching the Films dance I thought there is no way the dress and petticoat weren't flying up away from the hoop more than shown, unless of course the closest layers are attached to it somehow. As you mentioned even just a few well-placed tacks will make a huge difference and is common in hiding structural garments and aid an elegant movement none weighted outerwear.
This petticoat is the Queen of garments behaving differently than you calculated they would when worn. The finished dress is going to be such an awesome recreation of the original!!!
I made my daughter's prom gown I have made many civil war era gowns I have even made a couple of Disney princess gowns for my granddaughter. I have never nor will I ever make Cinderella's ball gown. I bow to you. You deserve a medal. What a fantastic job!!!
The last video the skirt made me feel like it was missing something, while gorgeous it wasn't the Cinderella dress... I know this must have been so frustrating and stressful but so worth it! The skirt has the magic now ❤️
Ive recreated garments from movies and productions before, and one thing to help with that urge of working until everything is absolutely perfect is remembering that they had whole teams of experts making the garment, while you are creating the whole thing yourself! It seriously looks so stunning!

I am in awe of your hard work. As an aside, - I’m very sorry - your upset at April snow made me laugh. As I child, I always asked what they meant by “April showers bring May flowers” because it just snows in April and there’s never flowers in May! I grew up and realized that this was meant for warmer climates than where I lived. And I actually just envy you at having green grass in April! Once again, great work!

I am really glad you got to make the changes you wanted to the petticoat and that it is closer to the concept you had in your head. When the petticoat was up on the table, it looked like a modern art installation. Also, don't feel bad about tripping on the dress while dancing. After all, they had to make shorter versions for the movie to accommodate the running and dancing scenes and the actors still ended up wrecking the hems by stepping on them.
Bella Maes Designs the fact that you could make this petticoat TWICE is enough proof for me that you’re a magical being 🤣 I would make a few frills and then pack away the rest for a “later date”

I just wanted to let you know, I LOVE this style of video! This is what sewing is really like and it’s so relatable. It’s so cool to see your creative process and problem solving! You’ve done such an incredible job on this insane petticoat! 😅🙌🏼
It’s so beautiful!! Hard work but it makes me want to make my granddaughter a similar dress. She does in fact want a Cinderella dress and I’ve seen what you get at the store and it’s not nearly as nice as a homemade one would be. I have a brand new sewing machine in the dining room waiting for me to go to town! I only took sewing in high school but I’ve made a few costumes when my kids were little. Thank you for your video which makes me want to make one just like it in a size 6X.
I'm so glad you did this. I could tell in the video before this one that you weren't completely happy with the movements of the petticoats. I think your on the right track. The movement flows much better now. This is quite a project you've taken on and you are doing a great job. Thank you for sharing the things that go right and the things that didn't go exactly how you planned and how you are dealing with solving those issues. I am enjoying watching this gown come to life.
It certainly looks as though it’s moving much better. Before, even with small turns, we could see the hoop. Can’t see the hoop at all now. It’s just so pretty. So much work. I really, really admire your skill and work ethic!
I am in tears. So much work has gone into this and seeing the progress made is just an amazing journey to be on. It really gets you motivated to do your own projects. And the B-roll at the end is just magical!!!
whenever I watch parts of this series I just have a strong urge to watch the film! Your hard work and dedication is paying off! It looks positively stunning!
"I know this is different than my usual videos and I hope you like it and don't hate it" Bruh. I liked this video and the documented thought process BETTER than the planned and specially curated videos. It shows that everyone has a process and it's DEFINITELY not all linear.
You were successful in making the "blossoming" effect. The layers expanded and contracted to their original proper place. The tracking was a perfect solution. You did AMAZING!!! You should be proud of yourself 💖
I think the tacking technique sounds like a great idea! From what I've gleaned from various making-of ballet costume videos I've watched, tutus are made this way too, with the different layers tacked to each other - not so tightly as to completely impede movement, but enough to keep things under control and falling back into place as the ballerina moves.
I am absolutely gobsmacked at how much WORK you've put into this gown. It's an amazing achievement already, and it's going to be jawdropping when it's done.
You really nailed it! I think because we COULD glimpse the hoop in the movie version, your make was superior! What you learned about flounces and cages is a wonderful gift ot everybody else who is taking on such a project. Thank you.
You know as frustrating and as much work that this was it was totally worth it. You can really see the difference in how it moves, its much closer to the one in the movie I think you should be really proud of your problem solving here. You saw the issues and came up with a very effective way of fixing them and its really showed.
I have never wanted to spin in a frilly dress more than when watching you spin. The layers of frill building and mixing as you even out the hem was beautiful. The end result is so worth all the hard work you put in, well done on all the problem solving
oh my GOSH it moves JUST LIKE the movie skirt! when you spin and it lifts out to the side it's just PERFECT! tacking the skirt between layers seems to really have sorted out the layers into staying in the right places. amazing job!
Lovely video! Can relate to it. I am a perfectionist and I have trouble calling my projects finished. The petticoat looks a lot better! Also interesting to see the problemsolving at work.
I needed this video. I "ruined" a dress I've put so many hours into last weekend with bust dart alterations, but this video helped me feel like not all is lost and I can try again to fix it.
the comparison you made with your petticoat and how it's like a basic flower where the petals open to reveal an empty center but then cinderella's dress when twirling is like a rose where the petals are still pressed but you see more and more petals and beauty....such a beautiful comparison and makes complete sense you really are a disney princess
You have gotten a lot done! You improved the shape/angle of the skirt, and it moves so well now! It is so much closer to the film dress. I love all the things you came up with to solve the problems. Adding more flounces higher up really worked. Attaching/tacking some layers also seems to help the movement. The top layer looks so lovely with the crystals!
Your dedication is, IMMACULATE. Not only that but your patience and I admire you for that. It looks absolutely amazing!! I bet even the creators of the original dress are looking at your videos and are just as amazed, if not more than we all are. Best of luck with the final product!😄
My expression when I read the title: 😱. I've been following this particular series, and from the past videos, it's obvious you put in so much work already!!!
Wow! I know that the skirts probably weight quite a bit... But honestly all the changes made it appear so light and fluffy... Like a huge delicate flower! It's wonderful and we'll done.
I would love it if at the end of this project, you add the material cost and give yourself a hour based salary, giving us the full total price of this dress. It would help for us that get asked to make this dress for 50$ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@VideosofIan And... then you take a look at the end result and... wonder who the hell actually paid money for that ugly thing? Not EVERYTHING turns out like Cinderella's dress.
Definitely worth all that time/effort. It flows/hangs beautifully. I thought it looked lovely the first time round but the layers are more cohesive now - More ethereal. Love the sparkle of all the crystals. 💙
I LOVE your detailed description of the flow and spin of the petticoats! It was so visually artistic! I lived it and could understand what you saw in the original and what you wanted to see in the improved version! Absolutely incredible work! I adore the color scheme! 🥰
Thank you so much for this. Besides being absolutely lovely, it was indeed an encouragement for those sewing days when nothing makes sense and I question whether I even know how to sew at all. Your candor in sharing this process is most appreciated!
At first I thought "it wasn’t actually that bad, was it? ", but than I saw the end result. And it is so much better. All the extra time was well worth it. Your dedication to this project is admirable. Also, snow in april... Yeah, that happens. It is bright and warm and sunny one minute and than it snows. For some reason it keeps surprising me, that people around the world have different experiences with weather. I know that's how it should be.
I think this little (big) fixes were worth it. It really does look much more impressive now! I didn't even realize that it needed fixing but you did very well improving it
im so impressed. i would be lying on the floor crying if i had to do all of that to a finished petticoat, actually i would have given up ages ago. seriously its amazing!!
I laughed out loud at watching you sew the petticoat while it's still attatched to the dress form, because I can identify so hard!!! Oh, and all the TWIRLING at the end! It's sooooooo PRETTY!!!! Brava!!!
Oh my gosh I can't believe you remade that entire thing. But I get it! If I had spent that much money and time on a project, I would want to work a little extra and make it perfect (or near perfect, I guess). It's really disheartening when you work so heart and the final product is underwhelming. I had already loved the previous petticoat SO much, I'm dying to see how this one turns out!
I would never be able to pinpoint the reasons if you hadn’t explained each problem but I see the difference! The petticoat was already so beautiful but now it looks beautiful AND every way it moves is captivating and stunning. The accordion thingy with the way you tacked each layer to the previous makes the spin really magical to watch.
The amount of work and the level of detail you are putting into this project is astounding. Every time you put out another video, I am hit all over again with awe at your dedication and skill. You are truly creating a masterpiece!
Oh my goodness gracious, I think you’ve done it! I’m truly incredibly impressed with your skills and determination, you have fulfilled your potential with this project, thank you for sharing with us!
Oh wow! That was so much work but I'm glad you are more happy with how it looks and functions now! I really liked this style of video! It's helps to see the sides of sewing that always don't turn out perfect and it helps inspire to keep pushing though and thinking of unique solutions!
I wish RUclips could tell me how many times I've rewatched a video, because I think I've watched this one about 12 times. I love this vlog-style, and watching you problem-solve is so confidence-boosting
i honestly loved this video and you fixing the petticoat. you deserve the best petticoat you can make, even if that means the video is "less perfect" (even though i really liked it!!) or you taking more time. will recommend this series to other people who love frilly swirly things!

It would help for us that get asked to make this dress for 50$ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When you hear about haute couture gowns that cost $20k + and it seems soooo crazy but then you watch this dress being made and it makes sense.
@@VideosofIan And... then you take a look at the end result and... wonder who the hell actually paid money for that ugly thing? Not EVERYTHING turns out like Cinderella's dress.
I'd guess about $50k...and I may be way under shooting that lol
Definitely worth all that time/effort. It flows/hangs beautifully. I thought it looked lovely the first time round but the layers are more cohesive now - More ethereal. Love the sparkle of all the crystals. 💙
I could just watch you twirl in repeat. It's mesmerizing.
What a difference your extra work made!
The frills on the crinoline made all the differece!
I know, right?!
The way it moves is absolutely perfect. ....yes it is. ❤
The movement is right on. Wow. I would not have thought to tack them down altering locations like that. 👏 Fantastic.
I LOVE your detailed description of the flow and spin of the petticoats! It was so visually artistic! I lived it and could understand what you saw in the original and what you wanted to see in the improved version! Absolutely incredible work! I adore the color scheme! 🥰
It's truly incredible. I am very impressed by your problem solving. The sway and fall of the frills at the end is nothing short of spectacular.
Thank you so much for this. Besides being absolutely lovely, it was indeed an encouragement for those sewing days when nothing makes sense and I question whether I even know how to sew at all. Your candor in sharing this process is most appreciated!
That snow was magical! Id take that over our 90+ degree humid “spring” days. On another note... you are so patient and AMAZING!!
Brava!!!
The way it spins and swings is so on point it’s insane. Sooo graceful. I would love to wear something like this masterpiece.
You are beyond skilled. Only the courageous would tackle this project. It would be a nightmare for the most intrepid artist.
At this point we should just petition Disney to release the pattern and send you the fabrics 😊
Haha, me too! 😅 But it is definitely is looking better!
The movement you created in this revamped petticoat is mesmerizing. I’m so in love with the work you do.
I was in awe this entire video. The patience to make this beautiful dress! I wish I could try it on!
I would never be able to pinpoint the reasons if you hadn’t explained each problem but I see the difference! The petticoat was already so beautiful but now it looks beautiful AND every way it moves is captivating and stunning. The accordion thingy with the way you tacked each layer to the previous makes the spin really magical to watch.
omg when you put it in the wash my heart about stopped. it looks better for sure. So excited to see this in action.
That twirly floooooof! I think you 100% made a difference, from what it appears. Great job!
'Give yourself some grace.' Beautiful and necessary advice. ❤️
I got chills watching just the petticoat move. So beautiful!
Oh wow! That was so much work but I'm glad you are more happy with how it looks and functions now! I really liked this style of video! It's helps to see the sides of sewing that always don't turn out perfect and it helps inspire to keep pushing though and thinking of unique solutions!
Aw, yay! I'm so happy to hear that! ❤️
You did a beautiful job. You have an amazing amount of patience.
The moviment of the skirt is hipnotic
Love that you are keeping it real. Please don’t fake it for us.
not a disappointment at all! i'm so impressed with your patience to take apart and redo and i can't believe how beautiful it is! :)
When you were dancing at the end the movement of the petticoats was so grateful. you did an amazing job
I'm glad to know you're human too! I was startting to worry you were too good!
haha, definitely human! 😅
I wish RUclips could tell me how many times I've rewatched a video, because I think I've watched this one about 12 times. I love this vlog-style, and watching you problem-solve is so confidence-boosting
Awww, that's so fun to hear!!
I love that you decided to fix it. It looks amazing!!!
OMG THIS IS the most gorgeous dress i have ever seen in my whole 20 years of life aaaargh 😍😍💯💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯
Yes, I love that you showed the imperfection. That’s necessary for those of us who struggle with being protectionists.
Omg! Your sweater in the skillshare plug! Omg! Gorgeous! I see that homemade gorgeousness
It looks a lot better, flows much more like the dress in the movie. Amazing job!!
Oh my gosh! Connecting the layers made such a huge difference!! The way it twirls now!! ❤️❤️❤️
i honestly loved this video and you fixing the petticoat. you deserve the best petticoat you can make, even if that means the video is "less perfect" (even though i really liked it!!) or you taking more time. will recommend this series to other people who love frilly swirly things!
Omg this looks amazing. Such a big difference. I love how you explained this. It really opens up my eyes to the way fabric moves and that it can be fixed.
Girl!! You have wonderful and unique hands. I admire your enormous, gigantic and extraordinary PATIENCE. Beautiful job.
I'm in awe at your skills and perseverance. The first one was beautiful but rebuilding it was the right choice because this one looks like actual magic.
You have created a masterpiece. Nothing is perfect, but this is something to be proud of. Please try your best to appreciate this. It is amazing.
