      Please touch grass. While this dress could definitely be improved, it's still better than the Ross Special the movie put her in. Also, the movie was set in a historical period. "Sleek" formal dresses wouldn't exist for quite some time. Also, I have yet to see a "sleek" BALL GOWN. Its name does imply a certain amount of petticoats, you know.

    The real problem with the live action dress is the lack of magical impact, like it was with Cinderella, also the details are hidden with the bad choice of fabrics. Belle's dress was supossed to flow with the dance and look glamourous, they could've make the skirt look like gold rose petals and adorn the bust and hair with roses, to make it obvious that she is the rose beast was looking for

    The dress from *The King And I.* If they'd created a replica of that dress, it would have been perfect. It was already in gold, and it could withstand a full dance number. But who am I kidding? Emma Watson the drama queen wouldn't have agreed to wear it. 😆

    They backpedal a lot on the reasoning, Said That the made dress intentional like That to make it easier to animate the dress flowing In the twirl shot. Some say they thought animators would Add details later.
    Or some suckers decided the simpel design was a “feminist princess look”.
    Seeing you doing a better job. really shows the skill issue and messy judgement in part that is Disney’s live action productions.

    It still looks kinda bad in a cosplay sort of way, but it is better than the movie.
    I think it should have been a draped fabric dress over shaping undergarments (crinoline?) a la the Marie Antoinette movie. The puffs above the drapes give a cartoony/cosplay like visual rather than an actual lavish ballgown.

    the funniest thing about the dress in the movie, historically speaking, in the era in which the movie is set... corsets did not exist... What was used at that time were Stays, a garment to provide support and help with the silhouette of the time that was more cylindrical in the torso... but they weren't corsets

    • @crafthive
      @crafthive  18 дней назад +1

      I don't know of a single tutorial, but the process is to track the camera, then do a body match animation "matchimation". You're basically animating a cg body double to match the movement of the actor. Then you simulate the dress on the animated cg character, render and composite it back on top.

    • @pabloquintanar2613

    I love this video as someone who disliked that dress in the film but also as someone who teaches in a film school and this scene is used constantly to explain the MoCap for the beast. Everytime I see the BTS shots of the actor next to her in the grey suit I say "I mean I know why he's dressed like that but where was the focus on the dress?" The studio should've done more camera tests on the fabric. Great work and a great step by step look into 3D work!

    The live action dress just reminds me of Hermione's pink dress that everyone loved (personally think its very ugly). They thought putting Emma Watson into beauty in the beast they could feed off her the success and popularity from the potter franchise, by all rights her "feminist, girl power, intelligent, bookish" character should of worked, right? Except the nuance of Disney princesses being strong for their choices, instead of fighting every option that has any male input. Choosing to love the beast. Choosing to love the human. Choosing to go to war. Choosing to go to the ball. Taking a well loved character and warping it to fit the narrative of the actor/actress playing that character defeats the purpose of having the character involved at all, when its just the actor playing themselves like a cameo in a sitcom.

    For me, Belle in the 2019 movie looks so SAD. No matter the dress, it's not Belle. I just googled "belle dinsey parks" and THAT's the kind of Belle I'm talking about, the dress are absolutely beautiful and faithful to the animated movie AND time period, but most importantly Belle looks so lively, the spark in her eyes, her graceful and caring smile, her voluptuous hair.
    When you look back at Emma Watson's Belle, you instantly see why it looks so sad and dull in comparison.
    The Beauty and the Beast adaptation would have been made in the best way in the early 2000s, similar to 1997's Cinderella.

  • @tete-rh5xo
    @tete-rh5xo 9 месяцев назад +1

    Your version is already so much better and so beautiful!💛It really looks like Belle's og dress and actually feels like it belongs in a fairy-tale setting! The live action dress doesn't do justice to the original at all. It feels lackluster and uninspired and doesn't embody the elegance and romantic style that the original dress has. Whereas your version gives that dreamy and magical vibe that made so many of us fall in love with the original. 😊
    It's a shame in the remake they didn't even do the bare minimum and instead robbed Belle of her iconic gloves. They couldn't even make the sleeves of the dress similar to the original like you did. Cosplayers have made better versions of Belle's dress with less time, money and resources than a multi-billion dollar company. The remakes often change details that were already perfect when they had a successful blueprint right in front of them that they only needed to copy. Instead they waste time and money changing things that never needed to be changed

    I'm a new sewist learning to sew in anticipation of making my wedding dress, undergarments, etc.
    I would LOVE to have this kind of program to bring the ideas in my head to life, so I can see if it's missing something, or if it looks professional, possibly couture. I have fabrics picked out, I have swatches of silk, organza, etc. Just lacking a proper sketch of some kind.

    Friendly reminder that “corsets” as we know them are based more on Victorian corsets. Of the mid to late 1800s where as Belle would have worn stays, the story being set in the mid-late 1700s, and stays weren’t designed to tight-lace, but rather just support the fashionable silhouette which was a triangle/cone shaped bodice and either a very wide skirt supported by panniers, or a slightly more rounded skirt supported by a bum role and maybe small pocket hoops. Belles’s original gown while always a favorite is fully Victorian. And I was really hoping for a gorgeous 18th century gown. Especially cause the rest of the film had so many beautiful 18th century silhouette. And doing belles gown in the period silhouette with maybe some more modern textiles (like flowing fabric from Anna Kendrick’s Cinderella ball gown in into the woods) could have been incredible.
