      The Self-Improvement Hub
Being able to take criticism from
the right people is a quality.
      I think,
      all people - everyone
      being able
      to take constructive criticism is
      The Right Quality.
Not being able to take constructive criticism
      The Self-Improvement Hub
      because you
      and/or
      someone else thinks
      the person saying
      constructive criticism
      isn't the right person
      and/or is
      the so-called wrong person is
      arrogance and ego.
      The Self-Improvement Hub
      I focus on self-Improvement
      instead of
what you and/or someone else focuses on:
      Is the person caring enough
      to say constructive criticism
      qualified or unqualified
      measures up to a level
      or doesn't measure up
      is perfect or isn't perfect.
      I'm just saying my point
      one on one on-line
      and behind the scene
      instead of unknown to
      you behind your back in
      a phone conversation
      a text
      a email
      a tv episode
      a newspaper
      a video
      a audio
      and just because
      your profile name says
      hub
      in my healthy
      un-judgeful sound mind
      and heart
      your profile name
      DOESN'T
      to me implicate nor involve

    Hey Jocko
I'm working at a high school right now in South Central. I've incorporated your stance of "Extreme Ownership" into my teaching, and it's done wonders for my students and my own patience. I've been taking the confusion my students are experiencing as a failure on my part for not explaining the concept well enough to them. This has encouraged me to pivot and be more organic with my teaching, and this has reduced anxiety in my students, particularly when they get nervous about asking questions or not understanding the lesson plan. Thank you so much :)

I was a Navy avionics technician in the '80s, east coast top gun squadron. Had Navy, Marine, Air Force and foreign officer pilots who were at the top of the pack assigned to us. I admired their intellegence and athleticism (you have to be an athlete to be a combat pilot).. But they showed a respect, an esprit de corps, if you will, for everyone... which permeated down through the enlisted (may be not "normal", felt like an elite bastion even at the time...)

Good call. (sorry 4 my English) As Freud was anticipating there is a difference between EGO, which is "the being of Your existence" and Arrogance, which is totally another "bishop" - On this topic thick books were written, probably without coming to a solution.
To my opinion, if you are Humble, you are open toward learning, because you think you do not know enough, so you listen to others and then decide whether to accept the advice or not.
If you are not Humble, so you are arrogant, you think you know, and since you know everything, you do not need to learn, so your brain is closed toward learning and growing your knowledge because you do not need to ... you know everything.
In the old days, aka Roman Empire, several Generals had a couple of soldiers on low rank whom were almost insulting their Generals on every mistakes they were doing. That was their job. A lot to say, too much to write. Ciaoooooo from the Old Boot.

“It even seems as if the ego has not been produced by nature to follow its own arbitrary impulses to an unlimited extent, but to help to make real the totality-the whole psyche. It is the ego that serves to light up the entire system, allowing it to become conscious and thus to be realized. If, for example, I have an artistic talent of which my ego is not conscious, nothing will happen to it. The gift may as well be non-existent. Only if my ego notices it can I bring it into reality. The inborn but hidden totality of the psyche is not the same thing as a wholeness that is fully realized and lived.”
    Carl Jung
This subject that Herr Jocko speaks of with his learned guest goes vastly deeper into the nuances that make up the human mind, and it’s decisions. Arrogance and Ego manifest their light from the same place, it is the human psyche and the development of said psyche ( or a lack there of ) that determines which switch is flicked. Often times it is both, for one flows seamlessly with the other in the psyche of youthful endeavor in which the drive is as physical as it is cerebral.

I guess it depends on what unable to work means. As long as you have your brain and a connection to the internet the possibilities are decent in number. It requires hard work, but it is possible to improve on the poverty levels with time. Work is not just going to a place and performing some task for someone else.
Work is putting your skills, whatever they are, to use so that you produce some resources(money, food, shelter, etc.) for yourself and eventually for the people around you.
