hahaha OMFG! I laughed so hard I'm crying! I love the way he says Butterscotch! Patton Oswalt and Zach Galifianakis should be co-presidents of the world!! haha
The crowd seemed tight assed. That joke was killer, he didn't looked pleased, he wanted it to work, but they weren't so receptive to hear about the WTC.
@BenRoundell Patton Oswalt is probably my favorite comedian. His WTC joke in this bit was pretty clever, but some people just aren't ready to laugh about it yet. But that's OK, everyone moves along at their own pace.
* * * Quote * * * BillyNapalm "I knew someone that died in the WTC collapse and my grandpa died in the holocaust and my mom and dad both drowned in the Great Butterscotch Flood of '89 and no one has ever come to my birthdays OMG IM SO OFFENDED I also fast forwarded the entire clip to only include the offense jokes and didn't hear the context, nor do I care about the context because IM SO ENRAGED" * * * Quote * * * LOL! Ahhhh lol great, I love a good post, ur just like me.
@SteamrollerViolin It is kinda nice when an audiance shuts up so they can tell jokes. Every other special I see its like their laughing really loud at unfunny crap and you can barely hear the commedian.
Goddammit, this is gonna be like the FedEx arrow, I'm just watching some 3d animated movie, and all these off-screen "gags" will just pop out of the ether, and I'll be like "shit, that really does happen!" Wackity-shmackity-doo indeed.
@Matt87Writer There's a bit of an old concept with malls where each floor has something different, my generation caught the end of that reference. As the building fell, they were on a different floor. It's hard to explain if you don't get the reference.
@Matt87Writer -- It's a joke about department stores, from when they used to have a lot more floors, and elevators with operators. At each floor, the operator would announce what was on that floor: "First floor, ladies accessories, cosmetics and jewelry. Second floor, bedding and furniture," etc.
@MoRgUe27 Not to mention that some express it in different ways. I love to silently laugh and not blurt out laughter (even in the company of an audience). I'm sure people found it funny.
@BenRoundell It's funny, people will consider some 'touchy' events as capable of making fun of, but will claim other similar ones as taboo. It has mostly to do with personal preference, but the way they're portrayed by the media certainly has a lot to do with it.
I suggest you watch the youtube video with Patrice Oneal on the news talking about the rape joke. It's essentially the same kind of humor, and he really enlightens on the subject.
This was excellent. To the people who post the same 'audience-isn't-receptive' comments on every comedy video: it's great that you love the performer and wish they had a better crowd, but you have to realize that they edit the sound in these videos to reduce the sharpness and loudness of the audience laughing. A crowd of hundreds is overbearing when you're listening to one guy with a mic.
Narco, I was thinking the same thing. It is particularly entertaining when you click on say, a video for something as mundane as a humorous trip down a water slide and two clowns are calling each other fags or dicks because one guy says that the video is fake and the other just can't let it go. I'd like to think these are kids but somehow I doubt it.
i don't get why people get so upset over jokes likes this. he's just making jokes about stuff like that because being able to laugh at horrible fucked-up shit is the only way not to lose all sanity in this crazy world. comedy = tragedy + time
Aw, I don't think of Patton as a comic who just doesn't care who he offends, as long as he's funny. I think it's just kind of part of his job, not that he's a genuinely outrageous person. I dunno, he seems like a nice guy.
love him but that just something u dont say make fun of the terrorist or something i' sure the people that died family's just loved that one patton ...pick your spots man
patton is awesome....but i dont understand you people here who are getting all upset because the audience isnt laughing as much as you want them to who are you to dictate what people should find funny? everyone has different tastes, just enjoy what you enjoy, dont worry about whether or not other people like the same shit as you
Kudos indeed. I'm agnostic and I didn't even know that, although I guess I justify my agnosticism by me being alittle too lazy to go to church or to read the bible...
"And they say, 'We need you to think up funny off-screen jokes that people who aren't on screen can yell over the unfunny, uninteresting action. To make it a comedy.' I didn't know you could make a comedy that way! I didn't know you could take depressing, shitty footage and just have people yell jokes over it." What makes this even funnier in retrospect is that Oswalt is part of the new revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000. So, you DIDN'T know you could make a comedy by having off-screen people talk over the action? A likely story, Patton.
The critical difference is what Oswalt is talking about herw is mixing in new dialogue into a film, whereas MST3K simply makes fun of films AS THEY ARE.
I've had the phrase "whackity-smackitdy-do!" In my head all day. Glad there's context.
Patton predicted Walking With Dinosaurs 3D at least 7 years ago. What a gifted man.
Maybe they called him to work on it and it took 7 years to finish? :)
oh god that fucking "ooooo" when he said tony roma's, fucking amazing
cloudy with a chance of meatballs has a lot of punch-up jokes. “I REALLY SHOULDN’T BE RUNNING WITH THESE!”
감사합니다,

굿~🥰❤❤❤👍👍👍
It's called "Mystery science theater 3000". ...One of the funniest shows in the world.
And then Patton Oswalt ended up being a character on it. Cosmic.
I´m waiting for an awkward situation to bring out the "Wackity-Schmackity Doo!"
I can't stop watching this video. His delivery is pitch perfect. It makes me crack up everytime I watch it.
What helps is that he seems to be very well-read and have a broad base of experience. He helps you remember ridiculous things that you had forgotten.
And thus Yugioh the Abridged Series was born.
Wackity schmackity doo
LOL he could viciously insult me, or anyone i hold dear to me, and end it with wackity shmackity doo and id laugh.
I JUST FELL ONTO MY BOTTOM INTO SOME butterscotch
Whackety Shmackety Doo! should be on a t shirt
I'm pretty sure you can make great comedy that way, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and Rifftrax have been doing it for years!
And now Patton Oswalt does it for MST3K
i loved the world trade center reference. classic.
0:43 - Patton, I'd like to introduce you to MST3K, lol.
**Googles**
Oh, he was in the Netflix version from 2017 to 2018? Well then... Nevermind.
He also used to introduce episodes on comedy central in the 90's.
the titular line of this video is what put me on the floor laughing...bravo Mr. Oswalt, bravo
You know it's coming. But it still hits you right in the laugh button, anyway.
Flappity booogadahh booo!!!
and thats why we love him
I need to rewatch that movie now.
Wackity-Schmackity Doo!
Wackity Schmackity Wah Waaahhhhh...
patton being patton is always so patton
I can't wait to see him live.
he's great and he treats his fans like gold. i don't agree with everything he says but he is a good man.
yesss, you did her a wreath of flowers .. .
It's one of them!
I agree, I was laughing my ass off. They wheeled in a bunch of patients on Thorazine.
He is a genius.
I just watched How To Train Your Dragon, and I immediately thought of this bit.
LMAO The man is a genius!
hahaha OMFG! I laughed so hard I'm crying! I love the way he says Butterscotch! Patton Oswalt and Zach Galifianakis should be co-presidents of the world!! haha
I lost it at the butterscotch line ^0^
The crowd seemed tight assed. That joke was killer, he didn't looked pleased, he wanted it to work, but they weren't so receptive to hear about the WTC.
8'th floor, men's shoes, 7'th floor, lingerie! Wackity Schmackity Doo!
That's hilarious even though it's so wrong.
i laughed so hard i started to choking
a+!
@BenRoundell
Patton Oswalt is probably my favorite comedian. His WTC joke in this bit was pretty clever, but some people just aren't ready to laugh about it yet. But that's OK, everyone moves along at their own pace.
13 years later, I'm finally ready to laugh at it!
What do you call a large woman with a yeast infection? A whopper with chesse!
Wackity-Schmackity-Do!!
He predicted Ryan Reynold's role in detective PIkachu.
My god that was spicy lol
the "ooohhh" from the crowd was so epic. fuck its almost 5 seconds long
Gaffigan ain't too shy about touchy subjects, but I see what you did thar.

yea man...there is
@Matt87Writer

Clearly this crowd had no idea what comedian they were about to see. Such a shame - Patton is a hilarious man.
Dave Attell still being the funniest outta the relatively newer ones
Also look up Patton Oswalt Death Bed. Great laugh!
@Matt87Writer -- It's a joke about department stores, from when they used to have a lot more floors, and elevators with operators. At each floor, the operator would announce what was on that floor: "First floor, ladies accessories, cosmetics and jewelry. Second floor, bedding and furniture," etc.
This crowd seems to be filled with prudes. Too bad -- Patton is fucking hilarious.
@MoRgUe27

TV's Max from mystery science theater 3000
im pretty sure the mic wasn't picking up the audience too well, they were laughing pretty hard
And at least 50% of all the internet movie, tv shows, and game reviewers.
8th floor men's shoes!
Comedy=Nothing is sacred. I think PO is incredibly funny and waaay talented.
This was excellent.

this is good but there is no way he didn't know about mystery science theater 3000 when he wrote this

The microphone?
@batmanpronz You wouldnt be saying that if that was your mom or dad that died in one of those towers.
i don't get why people get so upset over jokes likes this. he's just making jokes about stuff like that because being able to laugh at horrible fucked-up shit is the only way not to lose all sanity in this crazy world. comedy = tragedy + time
Lol @ jos's successful troll
what you said happens in the video is true, except the exact opposite.
that whackity schmackity doo reminds me of the WB Frog...what was his name? Miguel or somthing like that? lol
@eugene232323 Hard to explain right, at least for me, but it's like an elevator.
haha where is this?
it's funny cuz it's true
Aw, I don't think of Patton as a comic who just doesn't care who he offends, as long as he's funny. I think it's just kind of part of his job, not that he's a genuinely outrageous person.

I dont get the wtc joke, anyone care to explain?
1:29
love him but that just something u dont say make fun of the terrorist or something i' sure the people that died family's just loved that one patton ...pick your spots man
Just reading these comments makes me a bit concerned about the intelligence level of some people
patton is awesome....but i dont understand you people here who are getting all upset because the audience isnt laughing as much as you want them to
who are you to dictate what people should find funny? everyone has different tastes, just enjoy what you enjoy, dont worry about whether or not other people like the same shit as you
I guess Oswalt does not know about MST3K?
i don't get the 8th floor/7th floor joke?
I know that, right?
damn he does sound a bit bitter. good stuff tho
Is it just me or does he sound like Dan from College humor?
Can you imagine if Trump ended all his rallies with WACKITY SCHMAKITY DOOOO!! LMFAO!!!!!
???huh???
I hope I'm not a dumbass for asking but rly what did he mean about the floors in the world trade center joke?
^^^^^ excellent comment. lmao

Thats a nice twistig of logic you got there.
