    I skipped Ultra 1 and bought Ultra 2 this year. Glad I waited.
    My Applewatch 6 is currently resting at the bottom of the Indian ocean off the shores of Maldives after it came off my arm whilst diving. My Ultra 2 has a great band which won't do that.
    I ordered a Black band and Orange band from ebay - and I want a titanium bracelet eventually.
    I am a big man with a big hand and I love the big face. It looks like a James Bond device.

    As a professional pilot who is constantly on the move, I was pulling my phone out of my pocket probably 100 times a day. I just bought an Apple Watch Ultra a few weeks ago and it has been an incredible time saver!
    Apple pay, notifications, email and the customizable watch faces (UTC as well as local time, date, sunset/sunrise allow me access to most of my regular smart phone needs without pulling out and unlocking the phone saving me close to an hour every day. Night mode on the wayfinder face is perfect for limiting distractions.
    Battery life and ruggedness were the main reasons I never bought an Apple Watch, and with this model I finally decided to pull the lever and get one. I am so glad I did.

    The Action Button is limited to a shortlist of apps for now, but Apple didn’t generally release the programming APIs for the Ultra prior to the release of the Watch. Application developers will be able to utilize the Action Button, so we should be seeing a lot more uses for that button in the near future.

    Since you can use the action button for Shortcuts, it’s more useful than you think. Shortcuts can be tied to the Focus modes, so it can do quite a few things. There are apps that will add maps and a number of other features that the Ultra lacks (for now).

      On my Apple Watch Ultra, I assigned the Action button to a Shortcut that does 5 different functions at once. With the ability to run a Shortcut, the Action button is anything but limited and/or gimmicky. Think of the out-of-the-box options as some simple pre-configured Shortcuts to get you started.

    • @melgross
      @melgross 2 года назад

      @@MichaelSoledad it’s otetty simp,e. You go to the watch app and go to actions, and there’s a list. Tap one and it’s done. If you pick shortcuts, it more complex because you have to pick or make your own shortcut. But that’s expected. There’s no other way to do it.

    Bought mine 2 days ago in Phuket Thailand where I retired to a year ago from the US. Absolutely love the Ultra! I have a Series 7 with cellular purchased in the US but unfortunately it’s not compatible with the Thai cellular system, at least with my provider, AIS. I power walk and run almost everyday along the ocean and because of no working cellular on my watch wasn’t able to get calls or listen to tunes, (Not about to lug an iphone Pro Max along.) so obviously happy to have cellular again, but most of all I love the design, size and features of the Ultra! The ruggedness is one of the most important to me as I’m living much more of an outdoor lifestyle now, and my existing Apple watch had scratches on the screen not just from normal use and accidental bumps, but also in a scooter accident earlier this year. I too worried about the size, but forget about it! It’s incredibly light, and the Alpine Loop band it came with is amazingly comfortable, much more so than the silicone sport band on my other Apple watch. I’m a certified diver but haven’t been on a dive in decades and can’t wait to get back into and test this baby out in the extremes of being deep in the ocean.

If your familiar with the shortcuts app on the iPhone, you just create a shortcut on the iPhone, make sure it’s in the Apple watch folder in the shortcuts app. Then pull up the watch app go to action button and select shortcut. The shortcut you created should be there to assign. I just created a shortcut to open app and then chose the sports alerts app.

    Situations where you can't use your touchscreen easily.
    it's perfect for hiking (or even running or walking) in the winter. Or Skiing in a mountain.
    Or open a swim session without having to mess around with a non-responsive touchscreen.

    I always hated the 45mm because it looked like a tv on my wrist. Always always only got 38mm or 41mm….but i tried the ultra on and fell in love. Im a man with smaller wrist but i ended up loving the rugged look and large screen…the crown gaurd makes it look less like a tv. And it dosent look huge to me on my wrist at all. Actually i think it looks better than the small one

    As a watch person I like the ultra and as for its size the watch is actually smaller than some non-smart watches out on the market that are considered style”Bling” watches, which don’t do hardly anything compared to even the first Apple Watch years ago.

    Action button allows for mapping shortcuts. So possibilities are endless and heavily customisable. For example I can map action button to send my location on the map to my relative with just one click.
    I know where you coming from with your judgement but saying it is limited to only few apps is a big understatement.

    • @MichaelSoledad

      Perhaps I need to explore more as I had trouble mapping it out. It's not as simple as I would like it to be and I think average users will feel equally frustrated. Thanks for letting me know!

      @@MichaelSoledad thanks for the reply. Sounds like action button is not as great as I would hope. I am a big fan of custom shortcuts. Writing scripts at primitive level opened a lot of possibilities, combining execution of these scripts with physical button on your wrist would be crazy awesome.

    For those who don’t have anything specific to use your action button for. I use mine as a flashlight. I didn’t know at the time how much I would use it, but its a lot. Love my Ultra!! Definitely worth it and the text keyboard is way better than trying to draw a letter to text.

    The action button actually is something I missed in the „normal“ Apple Watch for one reason: Starting and stopping a run, especially on a race day. It has been difficult for me to precisely start a race with touch or the timer. Somtimes it kicked in too early, sometimes the touch didn’t work (because you are already running when crossing the starting line), hence you are not getting a precise time measurement. This alone may be a reason for (amateur) athletes to buy this watch. And especially for runners, the better GPS and battery life are a great addition. I believe Apple made a smart move here: making this watch a sports watch.

      Pro tip for all with regular Apple Watches: you can skip the 3 second countdown by simply tapping on it.

    • @thomasjanssen9124
      @thomasjanssen9124 2 года назад

      @@MatejaMaric thanks, or you just deactivate it in the first place. But you have to touch the screen which is unreliable during the start of a race. I am not saying it’s a showstopper, but it’s an use case for the action button :-)

    Nice video bro. I had an Apple Watch Series 7 and then switched to the Garmin Enduro 2 but now I am missing my Apple watch a bit so I'm tempted to get and Apple Watch Ultra. Just a little concerned about battery life considering that my Enduro 2 last more than a month but I know the Apple Watch charges pretty quickly and it's not the end of the world to slap it on charge for 20 mins when you go for a shower or something. Tempted....

    • @MichaelSoledad
      @MichaelSoledad  Год назад +1

      Yea, its definitely not going to last as long as the Garmin. At best, it'll be a 2.5 day battery life but you are absolutely correct with the charging part. 10-15mins is enough for it to keep going for days.

The day trip should start at 7 or 8 in the morning with sport, then after breakfast and home, navigate by tram, listen to music, meet friends, pay for lunch, navigate again, shopping, pay for coffee, pay for dinner, connect music in the car via Bluetooth.... and so on. 😉 Greetings
