When my iPhone was damaged during service, I had to spend a few days without any smart devices around me. I realized how addicted I am to these gadgets and the Internet. During these days, I was able to process all my thoughts and calm down, I also felt like I don’t need the phone anymore and could live with a flip phone just to make and receive calls. My life got better without it.
Great video as always. Just a quick correction, ever since watchOS 11, the Apple Watch will track sleep even if you don't setup a sleep mode. It also tracks naps during the day. Hope this helps.
From what I’ve seen, if I sleep without activating the sleep focus, it only tracks duration, not stages, so it isn’t the full tracking, but using the schedule feature for the sleep mode is simple and acts as a reminder to have a more consistent sleep.
it’s great, especially when (notifications) customized to be less distracting. overall, the mini series iphones with blank spaces / dumbify plus opal / focusedos is probably enough for most
I love my apple watch, btw lol, but I don't put any trust in the silent alarm. OG classic alarm sound at full volume is the only thing that wakes my ass up in the morning.
I just ordered an refurbished series 9 and I'm looking forward to it in a big way! I always thought these watches were gimmicky, but after having looked into it, I realize there's more to these watches than I thought! I do feel like I've gotten addicted to my phone (social media mostly), but I don't wanna lose some of the convenience of a smart phone. This seems like a great way to do that while also helping hit my fitness and overall health goals!
I purposely bought an Apple Watch so that I get to *connect* more with my kids. We go out and leave my phone behind and just spend the day out with my kids without the temptation of glancing my phone every 5 minutes. It provides me the basic feature of taking in calls for anything urgent. That’s pretty much the most important feature one could really need.
it's actually great when you think about it. It got the "benefits" of a smartphone WITHOUT all the pollution that you usually have on your phone (instagram, youtube, tiktok, X)
I totally agree with you. Folks are buying minimal/dumb phones, when that's basically what a smartwatch is. Throw your phone in a drawer and just wear a cellular smartwatch. When you need to get something done that requires a screen, pull out a laptop or tablet.
If you setup Focus Time "Sleep" on iPhone (and across all devices) then AW will go into "sleep mode" automatically at set time in the evening so no need to "set up manually" (eventhoug that is one click as well)
I got a series 6 a year ago for 150 bucks and love it. Only problem for me to replace my phone is the missing whatsapp supprt (europe user here) + the battery life isn't keeping up for a day with heavy usage (+ cellular). I would instantly buy the ultra for the longer battery life if it had a smaller version (my wrist is pretty small ant the ultra is way too big for me)
don't really mind it at all! Think it actually helps me be more present. If I'm travelling or going somewhere new I'll usually have my phone with me though
Actually, one you can use a real camera but I find that I'm not planning on taking pictures when I leave my phone at home. You don’t need a camera all the time. Using the AW is about reducing the temptation to carry your phone everywhere. It’s actually quite freeing to just use the watch. If you’re going on an outing that might require a camera, then take a camera or your phone. I have a Canon Powershot that takes great pics and is still very compact. As good as the camera is on my 13 Mini, the Powershot is even better. Now the AW is capable of playing music without the need of earbuds. However, the Ultra/2 is a better choice due to its longer battery life as a phone replacement.
Eyes lenses, lids shutter, retina cam, memory storage. Those pictures taken with an artificial instrument are seldom seen again. Being there, it remains etched, indelible, even after death.
Great vid. I got the series 9 about two weeks ago and before that I’ve used the series 4 for quite some time. The only real issue I have is battery health. It’s just not great but battery life is pretty good when the health is in a OK state. The watch became a great productivity tool for me on a health level and it makes me keep proper track on the tasks that I have for the day as well. It also triggered me to move a lot more which is a great plus. The series 9 is very nice. I very much like the sleep apnea function(which I apparently don’t suffer from but I snore so…😄) the sensors are brilliant. I’ve used it when I went biking and had to navigate through unknown paths. I got it for a fair price brand new so it didn’t break the bank. In all, using a watch that keeps up with you and informs you on the daily has been an enrichment for me.
How can I set Things to automatically add a new to-do to "Today"? I can't find a setting to enable this automatically. If I'm not fast enough, my new to-do goes to the inbox on my phone and disappears from my watch!
Great video. I have garmin on my wrist 24/7 for training (serious training the AW just doesnt even come close) but they are not designed to compete with each other despite what most you tube vids would have you believe haha. But yes as a 1 inch running phone its perfect. I slip the aw on the other wrist or in a pocket to stream apple music or take/recieve emergency calls while out on distance runs and its great to have.
the only thing that stops me from using the Apple Watch as a full time iPhone replacement is that it's super time consuming trying to send text messages via the tiny watch screen. ideally I'd have a small palm-sized bluetooth touchscreen keyboard that I could put in my pocket but I don't think it exists.
The Ultra 2 swipe feature of the on screen keyboard is really good. With enough practice you can get just as fast as a normal phone. Even better if you put the watch in a case to make it more of a phone.
I bought series 10 today the cellular version and I activate eSIM but I can’t get the notifications if I am outside I have to stay close to my phone to get it any solution?😢
Great videos! Personally, I have a Series 7, though I think the battery is severely limited on it nowadays. It used to hold a charge all day if I turned cellular off, theater mode and battery saving mode on, though now it seems to die within a few hours.
