The thing that made me move from ultra 2 to series 10 is more for the display. I love how the modular face doesn’t shrink in AOD mode. And the contour watch face stays to the edge in always on display mode! Little upgrade but I love that
Battery life, 10 series is not scratch resistant at all (I got scratches on the screen while sleeping), bigger screen on AWU, GPS icon when working out. Any other downsides with the 10 that I dont know about? Just ordered another AWU2 black, mainly because of the battery and sapphire.
@@ValentineLogan yes you can but it’s sad that the series doesn’t have an action button, also the side button is dumb that all you can do is is use the control center. It will be amazing if the side button works for start, pause in workout mode and control center when you are in the watch face. Also there should be a way to use only buttons from start to finish when you are working out. That’s why I think the action button should standard and the side button should be able to use too.
I don’t notice my ultra when sleeping, just to let ppl know. tbh I never think about the fact that I’m wearing the watch. Also I’m a girl with a skinny wrist, so don’t let a small wrist or worries about the ultra feeling bothersome stop you from getting it. I guess it’s just very individual:)
I think under appreciated is that the crown on the AWU is much more useable than that on the AW10. The big smooth rolling crown reminds me of that on the AirPod Max. Heavenly!
Optical heart rate sensors on the wrist will never be as reliable as a heart rate strap. Even though the Apple Watch has the best wrist based heart rate sensors a heart rate strap will always win. For anybody that’s reliant on accurate heart rate data just get a strap and be done with it. The battery life on the Ultra would be my choice over the 10. That’s a huge deal breaker for me.
Great review. The reason the Series 10's positioning jumps around and is less accurate, is due to the GNSS receiver which only supports GPS L1 frequency, while the Ultra 2 receiver supports GPS L1 and L5 (more accurate).
I love this comparison. I was hoping you’d make one like this. Curious, why don’t you change the AWU2 band to a more secure one before doing this test just to ensure best accuracy as possible for it? I’m just curious how it would do compared to the series 10 if it had the trail loop or something similar. Keep up the great work! I love your videos!
The biggest problem is battery life I’m willing to bet if Apple gave a week of battery life everyone would be happy Whilst I’m stool enjoying my enduro 2 love it get a solid month of battery life mip display for the win ✅ Can’t say the same for my AWU 2 I max out 4 days with low power mode no activities no notifications otherwise normal settings max 2 days 👍good in enough but more is better
Excellent video!!! I’m very early into running…inspired by you. Right now training for a 10k in under an hour. But love your videos, this one has the perfect balance of not being too technical and showcasing your opinions and experiences. Great way to start my day…off to do a 3 mile run.
Thanks for the review. I'll go with the AWU2, for the Battery Life, Sailing GPS, and eventual Scuba lessons I'm planning to take in the next couple of years. It was a good look to see the GPS actually catch that loop-t-loop!
as a divemaster never and ever trust awu2 for scuba dives, if you are interested in smart futures yes you can get it , i used awu1 for couple of dives and turned back to garmin watch and scubapro gauge.
the S10 maps assumed you crossed under the FDR at the intersection of the police museum. in the mean you jogged past the heliport and imto the front of the SI ferry. now when you were in the meat packing district, did it assume you were on the High line? but you ran the path along chelsea piers. thats seems like an apple maps type of an occurance.
When I got the AWU, I felt that finally the watch had the minimum battery life AW should always have had. So to me series 10 is not worth the money and I would get a SE instead.
I went Series 10 because I wear a Whoop strap 24/7, and use a Garmin watch for my triathlon training. No need for sports metrics and all that other fancy stuff. Oh, and I’m not scuba or snorkeling that deep, so that isn’t a concern for me really.
Using inbuilt pacing based on GPS, is just not very accurate. The response to change in pace is really slow. I would highly recommend a foot pod, so good to see you’re using a Stryd 😀
Hi @ShervinShares, thank you for grat video. guys i have question, can anybody tell me, when i use apple watch as primary watch by day and when i use garmin vivosmart band for workout, will data from garmin affect circles in apple fitness?
between apple watch 10 vs. ultra renewed (bought on amazon), is it a good idea bought ultra renewed from amazon? I have a fenix 6 renewed (from amazon) and I'm thinking jump to apple watch, but I'm not sure if follow the line to buy a renewed watch or buy the watch 10.
@@RicardoChial fwiw I found an original version ultra at 100% battery life on swappa. I personally think there are minimal advantages to the ultra 2 vs original. I got it for the price of the series 10. Battery life is very good for the Apple Watch
Hej Shervin! Thanks for sharing. Looks like this video was recorded in warmer weather such as September despite the video was released on 7 Dec. 😅 Greg
You did a nice job on this review. 👏👏 A couple points. The charge time to 80% for the Ultra II is a bit longer because the battery (and therefore battery life) is quite a bit bigger. I'm not sure that qualifies as an advantage for the Series 10. It's great that Apple offers a base model of the AW Series 10. But, equally equipped (larger option screen for AW 10, cellular enabled, sapphire display, sport loop band, etc.) both watches are about the same price. Even at that, the AW II still beats the fully decked out AW 10 on screen brightness, battery life, and GPS technology. I think the key here is choice. Again it's great that users have a choice over such a broad range of prices and features so that they can get the Watch that best targets their needs. In my case, that Watch is the Ultra II. As an endurance cyclist, battery life is HUGE for me on all day rides. Also, screen brightness is important for me on rides where I need to get data from my Watch face as quickly and easily as possible. In bright sunlight I can read the screen more easily on the Ultra II. I've owned many versions of Apple Watches since the original came out. All have been the cheaper aluminum/ion glass versions until the Ultra II. For my use case, there is just no comparison between the two Watches. The ion glass on the cheaper Apple Watches are scratch magnets. My Ultra II is now 14 months old and does not have a single scratch. Also, because the battery on the Ultra II is larger than the Series 10, it will go through fewer full cycles for the same amount of use resulting in a longer lived battery. 14 months later and my Ultra II's battery health is still at 100%!!! Last, you really need to try the workout app called WorkOutDoors. It is the most full featured workout app for the AW and gives it absolutely amazing mapping and data functionality.
You guys obsessing over 2 days battery life, when the equivalent priced Garvin has 35 days battery, plus a solar screen, that extends the battery over 100 days. Both 1 day battery life (series 10), and 2 days battery life (Ultra) is terrible performance. It's just different levels of terrible
@ Hi Chris. It's clear you should get a "Garvin" as it better meets your needs. As I said, I think it's great that users have choice so that they too can purchase a watch that best meets their needs. Thus isn't an issue of terrible vs. great. It is an issue of being informed about the features and performance of the products so that you can make the best choice based on what matters most to you.
I wonder why you're using the milanese band for comparing HR measurements? For such a measurement, You'd want to reduce all the relevant variables. These "comparisons" turn a little too opinionated for me, sorry. The sensor is basically the same, what gives? Just to be able to say that HR tracking is better with the 10?
For the price of the ultra 2 you could buy 2 series 10 and connect them both to your phone and then you would have better battery life,no charge time delay.
your audio is almost useless. lots of pops and clicks. Also, nothing worse than terrible RUclips music playing in the background. It's almost like you didn't watch your video before posting

Great video! I ended up going AWU2 because of durability. I don’t know if the jet black series 10 would hold up as well as AWU2 long term.
Ok change strap on the ultra 2 to the same as you got on the 10
I've been loving your videos! I ended up choosing the Series 10 after trying both it and the Ultra 2 for a couple weeks.

Should have used the trail loop for the Ultra, Shervin. I was really curious about a proper HR comparison.
