I’ve been using the Apple Watch Series 7 (GPS + Cellular) and it’s been great for everyday use. However, I’m considering upgrading to the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Given your experience with both models, do you think it’s worth the upgrade? @GregsGadgets
I bought my Ultra on launch day. I wear it every day and top off the battery almost daily, just out of habit. Battery health is still at 100% Best watch ever!!
Ordered the Ultra 2 and I’m coming from the first generation SE, I’m sure it’ll be a great upgrade and can’t wait for Friday to get here to pick it up along the iPhone 15 Pro.
@@yordan826same here! I went from the 12 pro max to the 15 pro max, and just ordered the ultra 2 with there blue ocean band! It will be here Thursday! CANT WAIT!
I’m a pipe welder by trade. When I read about the titanium housing and sapphire screen on the Ultra, I knew it would be my next wearable device. I had always found the durability of the non-Ultra watches to be impressive, but I wanted a watch that could potentially last 4-5 years and endure the rigors of my work environment. My new Ultra 2 fits that bill. While it’s probably more lucrative-and frankly, more glamorous-for Apple to market this lineup to athletes, tradesmen ought to know that there’s now an Apple Watch lineup that will keep up with them on the job site.
Fr I work outside and my regular apple watch did not last. Would get banged up to much and the heat would mess it up and so much more 🔥 hopefully this new one is way better
Do you think it would hold up in the auto body industry? Really want this watch but no point if it’s gonna be ruined with in a week like my previous series 8
@@nickturnbull3978 Any piece of electronics can break, but I’m confident that the Ultra 1/2 devices can take a beating more so than the regular series. I have banged mine against all manner of piping and steel structures and it’s still in good shape. In fact, the “protective” case I got for it has scuffed it up more than anything I’ve hit it against! I still have apple care+ just in case, though.
I will say this product is AMAZING. I took it off the charger at 1 AM. It is now 1 am TWO DAYS LATER and there is still 13 percent battery left. I have done THREE 40 minute workouts and tracked TWO nights of sleep. The battery life on this product is BEYOND amazing compared to my series 7.
I’ve never had an Apple Watch and I just got the ultra yesterday for my bday. I love it with each passing second. Went on a my first bike ride and I was blown away.
My Ultra 2 is coming in the mail on Friday (didn’t have the OG). As a woman I honestly don’t care how big it looks on my wrist, I want to be able to interact with my watch with ease and see it well (I’m far sighted and it’s getting harder to see things up close as I approach my 30s). Function over form factor for me. If I like how it looks on me and how it functions, I don’t care how it appears to others :)
Captain Leela Turanga of the Futurama animation TV series has always worn a giant interactive Digital Touch screened wrist device - if it looks great on Leela, I don’t see a problem with any woman who opts for a larger screened Apple Watch Ultra 2 for purely operational and strategic reasons. Ditto with seeing women touting an Apple iPhone Pro Max handset - why not? So much more functionality with a larger screen. I’ve been rocking an AW S4 since 2018 - just ordered my AW Ultra 2 yesterday 😃👍🏾
The people that might tease you about it are posers. People that are self conscious themselves. I'm a big strapping tactical guy and if I saw that on you I wouldn't even think twice about it.
Had an Apple Watch since the series 3. The Ultra is when the Apple Watch really came into its own. I wear it everyday and the bigger display and bigger battery are game changers. Use it constantly throughout the day. I have no need nor any desire for any other type of watch.
I was just thinking to myself, where have I been, when he said apple watch is 10 years old now. I'm usually on the forefront of new Tech. You crystallized it perfectly though. It wasn't ready yet imo. The ultra got my attention but I didn't like the battery life. The ultra 2 sealed the deal for me.
@@ShredzZ I don't see the difference between stainless steel and matte metal when it comes to accessorizing for a formal outfit. It comes down to personal preference on whether you like shiny or not shiny.
I love my Ultra. I can’t imagine wearing anything else at this point, including a lesser regular Apple Watch. I wear the Ultra all the time, including at night for sleep tracking, and never feel any discomfort whatsoever. I’ll also add that the new modular face that comes with WatchOS 10 is the best yet and ticks all the boxes for me. Fantastic watch all around!

The last watch I had was a series 7 and I loved it unfortunately I had to sell it but I just got a watch ultra 2 today and I love it the watch faces are fantastic I love the features and design can’t wait to use this
Yeah, I agree with everything you said. I love the Apple Watch . I really like the upgraded features like the bigger screen the durability, the better microphones, better speaker, better battery life etc. etc. the only thing that I miss with my stainless steel Apple Watch which is with the one I had before is I really liked the smooth feel of the stainless steel and I liked the shiny polished look I was hoping for a black Apple Watch Ultra 2 but I guess I can understand why they didn’t do it. It’s probably because in their testing it probably got scratched more easily and it’s supposed to be one of these watches that can takes a lot of abuse and not get scratched. I did purchase the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 and I’m looking forward to getting it this Friday. The trade-in was pretty good at $380.
I honestly have to admit the battery life on my Apple Watch ultra 2 is better than my experience on the ultra 1. I know it’s not necessarily advertised for that but I’m noticing that before I would average 40 something percent at the end of the day before and over the weekend I haven’t gone below 50.
It’s funny they advertise the Ultra as an endurance watch, when in fact it doesn’t preform well in the back country. But for a day to day watch, when you have power and cell service, it’s a fantastic watch. It’s loaded with useful features for the average person to use, and it’s well built. I’m a mechanic and over a year of bumping into other metal objects it’s still scratch free. I got a Garmin Epix pro gen 2 for the back country. Garmin is just a much better watch for endurance sports and back country adventures.
I just got one as a Christmas gift, would not wear it to work without a protective shell... and one day using it was so grateful I got one of those, fun fact working in a grocery store... older carts.... have some points on them that are the ideal for shattering gorilla glass... watch was fine... but would not like to see what would have happened not covered, ordered 2 because this immediate disaster thing has happened a number of times (usually on my phone screen protectors)
I just got mine last week and I am absolutely loving this watch! The battery life is incredible, the display can actually be used and you can actually see what’s what. I took the 800.00 dollar plunge and I don’t regret it. Get it!
Awesome video , definitely a lot of good points! I just got the ultra 2 today as my first smart watch . I got it for many reasons , some being why I got the 15 pro max ; bigger and better battery . I’m pretty tall and have really big hands and thick fingers so getting the normal size iPhone isn’t an option and getting the smaller Apple Watch didn’t really feel like a good option as a result either . The durability will be great tho since I hike , swim , lift and do a bunch of other stuff outdoors . I gotta say it’s weird to me that a lot of people complain about the size of the ultra . I’ve always worn mechanical watches which some are 2-3 x the weight of the ultra
Currently looking at getting this as I’m after a new Apple Watch. Last one I had was a series 6. I broke that so went and got a Garmin Venu 3. People going on about the battery like of the ultra when my Garmin lasts about 10 days. That aside, I do love the AW features and being able to mirror my phone would be better than this Garmin
If I’m only getting call/texts to my watch, I’m guessing I’ll get at least 3 days on this. I’m planning on getting this and leaving my phone at home most days when I’m not working 👌🏼
Struggling as to keep the ultra 2. I am a Garmin fenix user and typically get three weeks without a single charge. The Garmin is a much different experience so trying to decide if I should keep it.
From some basic research I did...ultra may have a larger sized display but the actual real estate used is similar to the 45mm. It just doesnt make sense to buy such a bulky watch for most wrists when the size difference isnt truly an advantage.
Great useful, detailed review I love the emphasis on battery life, especially compared to the other watch series and day-to-day usability for the average user not necessarily the exceptional athlete. Thank you and keep the great reviews coming.
As a woman, it was just too large for my wrist. I owned it from November to August. Stopped wearing it in March. I went down to the Stainless smaller watches and I have no regret.
I am really torn since the S9SS cellular is exactly the same price as the Ultra. I currently have the S5SS cellular and it has been great. Not a single scratch on the face, just a few very fine scratches on the SS case. The battery health on the S5 is still 87%, so it should be good for a few more years. I think I just talked myself into waiting a year or two before upgrading, even though I would like the longer battery life. I am hoping for more options when the series 11 is released. Thanks for great videos!
I upgraded from a SE to a Ultra 2, I am a hard core watch guy so for me it’s a no brainer but with that being said it is by far the best money I have ever spent on a watch and WELL WORTH IT.
Great review, im thinking about changing from my samsung fold to apple but still uncertain as to what would be the better choice, thanks mate for your honest opinion
I have been torn between getting a Seiko or an Apple Watch Ultra. The Apple Watch is hard to beat for everyday use. But the elegance of a mechanical watch is a beautiful thing to see.
I decided to upgrade yesterday too. Got tired of my series 5 battery going low by the end of my shift. Its cool to see a lot of series 5 users in the comments making the upgrade as well🎉
i have series 5 and was thinking about upgrading to ultra 2. do you think your investment was still worth it? or would series 9 be good enough? for context i’m a scientist and athlete but not hardcore things. just the usual gym and outside hikes here and there.
First ultra watch and it’s incredible! Might not be different from the ultra 1 but from a regular Apple Watch, the form factor is awesome and it’s super premium and sparkles in the sun! Love it.
The only reason I didn’t buy an Apple Watch Ultra this time was because the AT&T store near me was out of stock. I probably should have ordered one and get it shipped to me. I got the 45 mm Series 8 and it’s really good though.
I am thinking about going to the Apple Watch nine. The ultra is nice with his microphones. But it just feels heavy on my wrist. Though I do like the bigger display. I wish I could make an Apple Watch Ultra. Maybe the same size but make it not so thick and heavy.
Very helpful! Thinking about going this route because the Samsung Galaxy Ultra doesn't pair with an iPhone (😠😠). Price difference notwithstanding, given its durability and broad use-case functionality, this seems to be a solid alternative.
Got the ultra 2. Coming from Samsung. It is amazing. But I knew it would be before I even decided to switch from Samsung. I just love apples build quality. I’m amazed at the 2 day battery life. Especially coming from Samsung galaxy watch 4 where id have to charge it up through the day.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one who had the Series 7 with poor battery life, though admittedly this was a two year period, not one (didn't see the point in upgrading to the 8). I've just got the Ultra 2 and my Series 7 battery was 87% by the end.
Sorry this is random but you’re the only one I’ve seen wear the watch just before the wrist bone. If you get the Ultra and wear it on your wrist bone I noticed it makes the watch look way bigger than what it really is 😅
Went from the Series 4 > 9, and regretted that so I swapped it for the Ultra. I live an active lifestyle and am clumsy, my Series 4 is completely wrecked and I managed to scuff and scratch my Series 9 in the first 6 months badly
Watch bands affect the comfort a lot. Using the braided loop, I don’t even feel the ultra is on me. Mine wrist size is on the smaller size. I honestly forget about I am wearing it all the time. Just make sure to go as small as possible with braided loop, slightly tight so it will loosen to a perfect fit. Tying them on at Apple Store might be helpful as they are already loosened, but still go a bit smaller even by that standard.
Ordered an Ultra 2 yesterday. My first Apple Watch. I have no idea why I got it but... gonna be interesting? Guessing I'll just wear it and do nothing with it and just return it.
Great perspective, thanks for sharing. I love the term “battery anxiety,” it accurately describes the overarching sensation when using the watch. I’ve been using a Series 3 for years now, never checking the battery health, and am surprised to check it now and find it at 98%. I have to charge my watch daily and look forward to receiving my new Ultra 2 on Friday. I figure if the worst case scenario, I now have a backup that can stand in if I ever have battery issues, though if my prior usage is any indication, I ought to fare pretty well!
Hey Greg, big fan of your channel! I’d love your opinion on whether the ultra is worth getting if you can’t get cellular for watches in your country? For some infuriating reason cellular for watches is STILL not available in Ireland.
So the Ultra last 2 days if you don’t use it for sleep tracking. Vs a regular watch that needs daily charging? Seems wasteful if it’s too heavy to sleep with at night since 1/3 of our lives are spend in bed. How would someone track sleeping? Buy another Apple Watch?
This is the best review yet! I have a series six today which I will keep. I want to wait until Apple cracks the code on a reliable glucose monitor. Once that happens, the Ultra 2 will drop like a ton of bricks, or the Ultra 3 will be double the price. Either way, I think waiting may be far off even though Apple has filed patents relating to glucose monitoring. Ultra 4 will probably have it perfected.
im so torn, i think the 9 stainless is the best looking watch but at basically the same price as the ultra i dont know what to do. if tested both both nice, ultra screen is much nicer and battery life, but that size with a suit, not so sure. big problem buying backwards technology but.....
We just ordered 2 S9, one for myself and my wife. This will be our first Apple watch experience and thought the S9 would be perfect. We will see and if the Apple X is much better than the S9 maybe we will upgrade 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
I had boughten the stainless 7 before they announced the Ultra 1 and ..I would definitely purchase the Ultra watch as it’s more durable so to speak. Also for the bigger screen!
thanks for the GREAT video! great comprehensive review! ive been on the fence about the ultra, but I'm an info junkie and love as many complications as possible on my watch face, I hadn't even thought about using my Apple Watch for walking directions until you mentioned it. you've totally convinced me. glad to hear that the other bands work fine on it. ive recently become a convert to the one piece elastic cloth bands ( kinda like the slip on shoes for you watch) I'm winding how those work on such a big and heavier watch??? that's my only concern now : how will my beloved elastic one piece bands work with the ultra? oh and you forgot ONE very important feature of ultra 2 : the water temperature sensor, for many water sports enthusiasts this would be very useful. thanks again for the great review
@7:30 it's fatiguing because most of the ultra bands are total garbage... You want the velcro based ones so you can adjust perfectly... With the ultra bands they are either too tight or too loose and will either flop around or cut off blood flow... Also the velcro based bands breath better.
For me the battery life is the main factor of any smart watch as I hate to think about charging my watch. Enough for me to worry about the Phone and the laptop.
Best perspective, in my opinion. I saw many videos and all those was talking about sportive use, from a RUclipsr who was not athlete. Majority of the people are buying because of the new visual and battery life, not because the sportive appeal. I'm a cyclist e won't use my Ultra 2 to ride my bike; maybe sometimes. Very very good video, congrats!
I like how i brought series 9 gold stainless steel now i am seeing apple watch ultra 2 all over youtube i brought the series 9 because my wrist is small/medium now having 2nd thoughts 😢
Nice video! I see that you use it for the gym, which is what I would use it for too but have you ever used it for hiking trails and using it for navigation?
It is a grate video because I never understand why the people buy ultra. My friend bought because he thought it is better than the normal watch but I told him it is the same just bigger and uglier but you can reach all of the functions in the much cheaper watch too
Hi Greg, I am a two Apple Watch guy. 😊 I like measuring my sleep at night hence why at night I have one watch on my wrist and the other on the charger. Currently I have an Ultra from last year and an Apple Watch 7. I believe I am going to trade in my Apple Watch 7 for the Ultra 2. I agree, the battery is the best part of the Ultra plus for my old eyes the bigger screen is nice as well. Nice video as always and I look forward to your next.
Great Video Greg. I was a bit torn with getting the Ultra but I just think I can’t justify the price amd also I just find it too big and bulky looking. I prefer the normal Apple Watch Design as it just a bit sleeker and more understated in my eyes so think im going to go for the Series 9. ⌚️😎👍🏼

Struggling as to keep the ultra 2. I am a Garmin fenix user and typically get three weeks without a single charge. The Garmin is a much different experience so trying to decide if I should keep it.
Will Cellular AWU drain battery more than the same one without?
I have the Ultra1 and SE. I use the SE for sleep tracking & workouts. I think to myself “ I can get rid of my Ultra” until I get a text 😅
Thanks for sharing. I am staying with my Watch Series 7. Blessings on your day!
Everytime I see this Watch I hear the Inspector Gadget theme song playing in the background.
I need the extra size due to vision issues. I love it.
I bought the Apple Watch Ultra 2 yesterday and I love it I upgraded from a series 6
Battery Health on mine is 100%, I got it November 12 and use it every day but i would say the battery life isn't as it was but still great.
As a woman, it was just too large for my wrist. I owned it from November to August. Stopped wearing it in March. I went down to the Stainless smaller watches and I have no regret.
I'm a man 6ft and feel the same. These ultras feel like a mini calculator on your wrist. I'm selling my ultra and keeping my S7SS.
It's like wearing a clock on your wrist. Too big unless you have a huge wrist.
Can you put a screen protector on the Ultra 2? Just curious if it would protect the watch better.
Thanks for the great info.
I put one on my ultra 2
I am a normal user and still wearing my Ultra one right after it was released. It is still running like the first day I owned it.
The issue I am having is that if you get the stainless steel 45 mm, the price is like $50 difference. Why wouldn't you go for the ultra at that point?
Because it is as hideous as hell, as if someone randomly put different pieces together in a LEGO shop.
@@zoltanzanain your opinion maybe 😂
Where can I get that green strap you’re using?
I upgraded from a SE to a Ultra 2, I am a hard core watch guy so for me it’s a no brainer but with that being said it is by far the best money I have ever spent on a watch and WELL WORTH IT.
Great review, im thinking about changing from my samsung fold to apple but still uncertain as to what would be the better choice, thanks mate for your honest opinion
I have been torn between getting a Seiko or an Apple Watch Ultra. The Apple Watch is hard to beat for everyday use.
But the elegance of a mechanical watch is a beautiful thing to see.
I finally upgraded to the Ultra 2 from Series 5. Finally getting more consistent heart rate without need of the polar strap.
@@Dr.Gamboa yes, still worth it.
Can battery life of the watch goes up to 3 years normally?
First ultra watch and it’s incredible! Might not be different from the ultra 1 but from a regular Apple Watch, the form factor is awesome and it’s super premium and sparkles in the sun! Love it.
It is different.
I've just got the Ultra 2 and my Series 7 battery was 87% by the end.
are you enjoying new watch ? i have AW7 and just deciding if to change
Do you recommend Ultra 2 amid rumours for watch X? Please share your thoughts.
Sorry this is random but you’re the only one I’ve seen wear the watch just before the wrist bone. If you get the Ultra and wear it on your wrist bone I noticed it makes the watch look way bigger than what it really is 😅
The sound of the metal annoyed me when I banged it on something. I got a Spigen rubber case and now I don't care what I bang it on
Went from the Series 4 > 9, and regretted that so I swapped it for the Ultra.
Wow! Easy to read AND legible! They've done it all.
Love my ultra. Got the ultra 2 coming as well
This is the best review yet!
I used to be able to get 3 days before watch os10
im so torn, i think the 9 stainless is the best looking watch but at basically the same price as the ultra i dont know what to do. if tested both both nice, ultra screen is much nicer and battery life, but that size with a suit, not so sure. big problem buying backwards technology but.....
I got mines coming Monday I’m coming from the 8 so excited
Battery life is a non issue for my SS 7 with fast charge.
Waiting for black titanium.
We just ordered 2 S9, one for myself and my wife. This will be our first Apple watch experience and thought the S9 would be perfect. We will see and if the Apple X is much better than the S9 maybe we will upgrade 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
What’s the Apple x?
@@IlLAD3LPH1A215 The apparently next Apple Watch series 10
@@IlLAD3LPH1A215 Rumored watch. Like a model between regular and ultra watches.
I basically got it just to get it lol
I’ve got big hands so the larger screen helps but the price difference is insulting
Why not? Apple watch ultra is a great watch to monitoring workouts like a ride bike outdoors!
I like how i brought series 9 gold stainless steel now i am seeing apple watch ultra 2 all over youtube i brought the series 9 because my wrist is small/medium now having 2nd thoughts 😢
I bought it 2 months ago and now I’m selling it. I’ll return to Garmin. I’m going to buy tactix 7 amoled
Nice video! I see that you use it for the gym, which is what I would use it for too but have you ever used it for hiking trails and using it for navigation?
To me, it’s just a big digital watch with somewhat similar spec as Series 9.
But I’m still going to get it.
ordered a awu 2 as im only an aw6 user at the mo,so getting a bit excited now :) i aslo am just an avarage user no climbing or scuba diving for me :P
Also if you have a stainless steel 45mm cellular watch and like the design of the ultra why not spend the extra $50 this was the boat that I was in
It is a grate video because I never understand why the people buy ultra. My friend bought because he thought it is better than the normal watch but I told him it is the same just bigger and uglier but you can reach all of the functions in the much cheaper watch too
I’m getting my ultra 2 today
Hi There, I am looking to buy latest iphone and watch in USA. Do you have any source from where i could get some discount on these products?
Love your dog
Pick mine up on Fri ultra 2 cant wait
I want to get the ultra 2
I have a series 5 battery health is 79% it went through hell and back I believe ultra 2 would be nice upgrade
Wont take any chances i bought a watch protector just like our phone screen we need that proctection
u see you pause repping that 195!! strong as fuark bro !! good shi !
Is that the new mini ipod 🤔
"It's" not big and bulky.
"You" have small wrist.
@@DingleBerryschnapps Cool you prefer the Ultra I prefer the Series 9. There’s no right or wrong it’s just preference. I’ve tried on an an Ultra but prefer the size and form factor of the larger sized normal Apple Watch. It’s all good. You continue to enjoy your Ultra. ⌚️😎👍🏼
Having your watch for a whole year did you ever put a cover on it?
Can you tell us what is your wrist size?
