@@vengence747 - I used a program called After Effects for that intro shot. Thanks for watching Daniel! BTW, your videography skills are off the charts!!! Amazing stuff over on your channel. Keep it up!!!
Haha thats what I figured out so far :) I mean, did you recreate the whole watch face in AE so you can blend it later with the video beneath it? Would love to see how you did that! and thanks so much for your kind words,@@mlegrand. Keeps me pushing forward!!
The one BIG reason to upgrade (for me anyways as I’m older) is the size of the screen. As you get older and your start to need reading glasses the size of the fonts become a big factor. No point getting a series 9 Apple Watch if you can’t read it . But a great reason for the Ultra 2 😊
My wife’s eyes are starting to struggle and it really does affect her. Glad there are bigger display options out there. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@ceasarsalad2055 - I edit my own videos so far. I would love to find help but it’s currently not something I’m willing to let go of at this point. My channel also doesn’t make enough money to afford an editor. If I ever bring someone on, I’ll add a credits section to the end of my videos and attribute the people who have worked on it.
I am a small 5’2 woman with a tiny wrist, this watch size works for me especially for reading messages and my emails, I also find it easier to respond and use the keyboard! I’ve had mine for 1 month and to all the ladies out there shying away because of the Size go for it I have gotten more compliments on this watch! Also, it’s not heavy on my arm, I don’t even know I’m wearing it! Keep in mind, this is my own personal opinion!
That is awesome feedback for people to hear. My wife is also 5’2. She doesn’t mind a bigger watch because the text is easier to read. This is a big watch and it takes some getting used to but I like it. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Today i get my Ultra 2. The last 30 Years i always had a Casio. A new Era is beginning now for me. Thanks for your video helping my to decide to take it. I am complete trapped now in the apple universe. It started with an Ipad, then an Iphone, then an Iphone for my wife, then 2 for the Kids, after that an apple watch SE for my wife, to round it up apple one for the family and on top now the Ultra 2 for me. To be continued...😂
That’s funny! I also always wore a Casio. A G-Shock. I ordered the ultra 2 also. I probably won’t use the watch for all the features but for large digital time, able to sync Apple Music playlists to use in gym and cutting grass where I don’t want to carry my phone in pocket, I like the solid durability in the titanium and crystal lens, able to get calls. I’m not gonna check my emails, surf web, order anything on it. I could Probly got the less expensive watches but for $8 more a month through Verizon over the series 9 I thought why not. My only complaint really is the band choices. I tried on the elastic style slip on band in Apple Store and that was the best one for me. So I ordered 2 of em on Amazon (knock offs) but who cares. I’m not paying $100 for an Apple band. I did get mine with the trail loop.
My sole reason for getting an ultra 2 was to leave my phone at home a lot. To have the convenience of being reachable by call/text but not having to carry my phone. It’s been great.
Awesome Roland! Glad you've got one less little brick of weight to carry around. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@cristianocollarin2236thats i nice combo, i own the first instinct and i am in doubt to buy the AWU 2 or just buy the instinct 2X and an older apple watch..
Wow, that AW3 lasted a good while. I think you'll really enjoy the Ultra2. Should hold up to all of your crazy adventures on the MTB! 🚵🏻 Hope all is well with you down there!!!
Big fan of the effort you put into the videos. Love watching these reviews just for the high quality edits. If only the ultra wasn't such a enormous watch it would really be my next watch for sure.
Thank you so much for the kind words. This video was fun to make for sure. I do wish that the AWU came in two sizes. I don't know why Apple wouldn't consider a slightly smaller edition. 🤷🏻♂️
Yes! 100%. It's going to be a very nice upgrade. I think you'll really enjoy this watch. Keep me posted and I hope to see it in some amazing locations on your channel 👌
This as a phone replacement, even if it’s only a partial replacement is a huge benefit of the device. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Great video and commentary! I recently returned from a trip to the ocean where I took my AW Series 6 swimming and it fell off while I was jumping into the ocean from the boat. It fell 22' to the floor of the ocean where we were snorkeling and stayed there for more than 30m before being retrieved by one of the boat crew. It's amazing what they can withstand. Experiencing that took away one of the reasons I was looking at the AWU2, but this video really hit home why it was a good model to look at again.
I love the Ultra 2 for its battery life and ease of use. I use it daily for everything from calls to text messages to Apple Pay to navigation. Your don’t need your phone if you’re working out or going for a walk/run or running simple errands.
Very happy with the ultra 2, just upgraded from the series 4, which I got a lot of good use out of and still works fine. Battery life will come in handy on long triathlons, also love the larger scree, much easier to read when running and cycling.
Yeah, this Ultra 2 is such a good watch. I think you'll like the durability and the functionality of this watch. It should last a good while. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
You B rolls are 🔥 I love my AWU 1, my daily driver. I ride mountain, road and gravel, I’m also a mid distance trail runner. I only use my fénix 6 pro solar for travel and big adventures mainly because of the battery and exceptional off line mapping and routing. My one big wish for the next update, PLEASE ADD THE ABILITY TO NATIVELY ADD ROUTES TO NAVIGATE.
Personally, I’ve found the heart rate accuracy to be good on the Epix Pro. And that flashlight is the killer feature. But if you’re used to an Apple Watch, you might miss all the smart watch features. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Had the AWU2 since Nov and love it, switched back from Garmin! I really hope that the next software update enables the orange button to start/stop and pause workouts instead of just segments currently 👍
Me too. They really need to allow for that button to be more custom based on what application is in the foreground. Splits, etc. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
How do you feel it is as a freediving watch? Is it lacking in anything? Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Oh I think you're going to really love this device. Let me know what you think. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
So if you use the “accessibility gestures” you can customize what a double pinch would be versus a normal pinch, and then a fist clench etc. I have mine setup for the crown press, control center, and my fist clenches are for up/down volume! It’s amazing I am in commercial construction and cannot or should not pull my phone out to reply or answer calls 😂 try it!
That is fantastic! I’ve tried using accessibility gestures but I want to try your exact setup. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Looks great. I still use my Garmin fenix only because its purpose is physical activity whereas I feel like the Apple Watch Ultra is more or less an iPhone on your wrist?
Yeah, I agree with that idea. The AWU is still more of a smart watch, where as Garmin tends to be much more focused on sports. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I am currently using an Apple Watch Series 6 and I am thinking of upgrading to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, do you think it will be a worthy upgrade? Thank you
Yeah, I think it would. I think I mentioned something along those lines in this book. The other thing to keep in mind would be waiting to see what Apple releases next fall. I’m guess the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the AW Series X. 🤷🏻♂️
Have you noticed any battery life improvement over the Ultra 1st gen? The newer SIP should give a boost right? Is it tangible? 20%? 25%? or just like 5%?
I'll be reviewing the all Black version of the AWU2 in a few weeks. But it's always hard to try to distinguish battery life between one device that's a year old and a newer watch. I haven't been able to notice anything. I don't think it's a tangible difference. I really wanted Apple to take those S9 performance improvements and direct it at battery life. But Apple doesn't tend to do that. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I'm back and forth with my Fenix 7 & apple watch. Sometimes the Garmin can give too much information regarding training, readiness and sleep, which isn't always accurate. for that I prefer the Apple Watch.. ..... However, the features of gaming with downloadable maps, battery life better appearance it's hard sometimes to decide .
It’s nice if you have both. You can switch back and forth based on what you need. I actually wear one on each wrist which is a little crazy but it allows me to test more watches. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Sleeping and cycling I prefer then Garmin Epix. I still use my ultra everyday at work though. Its a great durable watch and its nice to not have to have my phone with me all the time at the shop. Oh and backpacking, I predownloaded the map area I would be in, and used workoutdoors app, and it stopped tracking me not long after losing cell service, in some old growth forest. Same hike the Epix never lost track of me, and I didn't have to have extra apps or preload any maps.
Yeah, I totally agree. That Epix is an amazing device. The Ultra is a smarter smart watch but the Garmin devices tend to do a great job when out hiking or cycling or even swimming in my opinion. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Matt, thanks for this review. I have been swimming for about two years in Feb of 21 I purchased the Ultra 1. It worked very well for me...tracking all stroked, kick board use and tracked me as well using paddles. In March of this year...1 month after the warranty, it stopped accurately counting when I used a kick board, paddles or variety of other stroked. From memory this occurred after a software update...which leads me to believe there is a bug Apple's current software. Currently apple hasn't been able to resolve this and this $800 watch is a brick to me as it was one of the main reasons I purchased the watch as it was (and mays still be) the only watch that tracked kick board usage. I swim btw. 3000-4000 yards per day and frankly hate counting laps. Do you recommend another watch ? It doesn't have to necessarily count when I use a kick board but it would be nice if it simply just counted me when I do use my kick board or paddle. The problem now is...I'll swim 100 yard with a kick board or paddles and it counts it as 37 yards swam... throwing off my the entire statistics for the over all swim/workout. Any recommendations would be helpful - thank you.
My favorite brand for swimming is Garmin at the moment. They have a drill mode that you enter the distance in afterwards. So if you kick for 400, you can just scroll to that and drop it in. Apple’s is more automatic but Garmin’s seems more tailored to the swimming that I like to do. Garmin makes a ton of watches and even their more basic watches do a good job tracking swimming. I’d look at the Forerunner 165 or 265.
@@mlegrand Thank you thank you....looking into the Garmin's now. The apple Ultra worked flawlessly for over a year then after the update, it missed laps and oddly only counted 37 yards swam for every 100 yards done in Paddles or Kick board or kick sets.I'll try your recommendation and thank you. I know it's stupid but I hate counting...I swim 3000 to 3500 yards a swim and many sets at 500-700 yards per set....if you get off and come to the end you then have to swim the extra you didn't and it throws off your entire stroke rate and workout in itself.
I use the AWU2 for running along with my GW6 as the audio is much louder on the Samsung when theres car around and by default gives an exact 5k time unlike the Apple. But the Apple i love certain watchface esp. Wayfinder and of course Applepay 😊
Nice call Martin! Sounds like you have the best of both worlds there. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I am looking forward to buying this watch, but i am sort of confused about it, so basically i am a student and I don’t have the need of accessing calls or texts or any stuff like that, but I really want to buy it would you recommend this watch to a student? Who goes to gym occasionally
This watch does a lot more than calls and text. But at it's underlining core it's still an Apple Watch and does pretty mush the same things as an Apple Watch Series 9. This watch is more expensive because of it's design, materials and the extra durability of those materials.
Content great as always but that cinematography is just off the charts. How did you freaking break up the digital watch face of the AWU and dive into it in the beginning?! And the macro shots? Forget about it. This is really a great video because it highlights some of the nuances of the version two over the original, plus really does highlight the durability factor, which is a big plus as a simple solution for anyone wanting an Apple Watch. Awesome work.
@@mlegrand haha i do NOT have the idea - I just marvel at it. I literally spent the night stressing out how to incorporate an action camera footage into my videos, because all the action cameras I purchased (GP12 & DJI A4) don't come with a simple screw in camera base for a tripod but some weird attachment thing! And they don't include a freaking SD card that's required for shooting content! Gives me anxiety and I haven't even downloaded an app for it all! :)
Really? I'm surprised you're going for the AWU2. I had you pegged for a Garmin or Wahoo guy. Keep me posted on what you think, or I'll keep an eye on your channel if you think you'll review it. 👌
@@mlegrand Yes I prefer Wahoo but they don't have a decent option. I would like to stay out of the Garmin eco system and I use an Apple watch anyway so thought I would go for it.
I have had problems with Garmin Edge and the software on both that I have bought an then sold, problems with Vector pedals and garmin connect was clunky in my view. I do like the Varia radar though!@@Fozzee.1970
Yeah it is. I’ll say that you will get used to the size and appreciate the battery life. I much prefer the size of the 46mm S10 but the battery life is super annoying. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Hi Matt, Firstly, happy 2024, and thanks for your videos. I am also a triathlete and I have the Apple Watch ultra 1. (also the Forerunner 955) and I have tried to give the AWU a try a lot of times, but I always end up going back to the Garmin. For training, I can't find a way for AWU to help me. My coach posts my workouts on TP and with Garmin I don't have to do anything, it automatically syncs what I have to do in the native app, and I'm ready to train! With AWU, there is no way. I have to juggle with 3rd party apps (follow a planned swimming workout, it's a nightmare). When Apple announced the integration with TP, I was very happy, but when it comes down to it, it's the most absurd integration I've ever seen. Honestly… Do you use the AWU for real training? Thank you,
100% honesty here in all my videos. I am almost always training with two watches on. It's frequently a Garmin of some sort that I'm testing and an AWU. I typically start both when swimming, biking or running. Then I'll compare data. I'm surprised the workouts aren't coming across to your AWU from Training Peaks. That stuff is brand new but I didn't have any issues doing workouts when I tested it. Still, I think it's really good for people to read other people's opinions on all of these watches. Thanks so much for posting this!
Maybe I’m doing something wrong? Just as an example. How do you follow a structured power running workout? How do you follow a swimming workout? Are you using 3rd party apps? Which ones? Thank you so much.
@@frnc3sk - Swimming workouts aren't possible on the AW at this point. Might be a while before apple figures that out. I haven't tested power based running workouts but they should be possible and they should auto sync from Training Peaks if you have that set up. 🤔 I don't use any 3rd party apps.
@@mlegrand thanks again for your time. No. Power running workouts are not supported. The only way to do it is through Stryd or other 3rd parties apps. You have convinced me. The AWU (for the moment) is not for me. Although I am convinced that they are going in that direction. For the time being I'll stick with Garmin for training and the AWU for a few other occasions. :)
I’ve succumbed to the fact that there is no perfect smart/sport watch. Hence, I now circulate both my Ultra and my Epix Gen 2. Errands around town? Ultra…sometimes Epix. Round of golf? Epix. Don’t feel like charging? Epix. Lazy and don’t want to carry my phone? Ultra. Peloton ride? Either or. Outdoor run? Both…one for metrics, one for streaming music/audio books. Life is just easier now that I’ve accepted my fate… at least until Garmin gets LTE, or Apple gives me running suggestions and better metrics.
I know right? I love this thing. Sadly, it's not mine. I've got to give it back to a buddy soon. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Really solid review and your b-roll is sick. Well done! +1 sub. I happened to be in Hong Kong last week so I picked up an Ultra 2 to get around the blood oxygen sensor import ban. Works just fine.
This is by far THE BEST AWU 2 i've ever seen! Just subscribed! :) If you allow me one question please. Which watch do you use more often in your trainings? Thanks in advance Have a Productive and Healthy Day!
Wow, thank you so much! Super nice of you to say that. I tend to wear two watches at the same time so that I can review as many watches as possible. Curious if you still use your AWU 1 at all. I don’t see why you would if you’ve got a 2 but wondering if you and others have experienced the same drop off in battery life that I have. 500 or so days in and it’s rough…

Thanks for the kind words!!! Buttons are surprisingly useful and don't even get me started on rainy or wet conditions. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
The Macroshots typically do a great job of showing scratches that are even very noticeable in real life. But this watch is currently looks fresh and clean. ✨ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I like the AWU2. But it’s missing a few key features for me. ANT+ is a big one for me since I ride indoors and need that power meter to pair with the iPad and my watch. Bluetooth only is a no go for now since it only allows the power meter to pair with the tablet or the Watch but not both at the same time. 2nd is the buttons. I need to be able to navigate the entire Watch with the buttons on occasion. 3. Is battery life. Garmin, Suunto , coros and polar prioritize battery life over much of everything else. That’s super important for me. 4. I own an iPad but not an iPhone. That’s definitely a no go for me.
I don't see ANT+ ever making it's way onto an Apple device. We wish for it 🤷🏻♂️ but it seems highly unlikely. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Thank you so much for the kind words. I've had very nice slow steady growth on this channel. I think it'll be a while before I hit a million but I'll keep cranking away at it. Thanks again Sai!
Does the Ultra 2 allow for downloadable Hiking maps? Similar to how Garmin lets you download hiking trails once you lose service so you can still see where the trail is
Awesome! Glad it’s working out well for you. I have mine on today as well. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
These two are very similar in accuracy. I wouldn’t be able to distinguish between the two on accuracy and these are two brands I test against each other daily. 🤷🏻♂️
After switching from Garmin to Apple due to the resilience promised by the Apple Watch Ultra, I encountered a disappointing issue with the heart rate sensor malfunctioning just a few months post the expiration of its standard warranty. This problem is particularly concerning given the watch's marketing as a durable device for intensive outdoor activities. I had anticipated that the Apple Watch Ultra would offer unmatched reliability for my needs, and this experience has led me to reassess my expectations from Apple. I am now reaching out to Apple Support in hopes of finding a resolution to this issue, despite the warranty period having ended, expecting that the quality and customer service associated with Apple will provide a satisfactory resolution.
Switching brands is tricky. You'll have to report back on customer support. I think these comments help people get an idea on how these watches really work in the real world. Both good and bad. Thanks
Ok Eduardo, I have lots of thoughts. I think the AWU is probably the smartest bet for you. If you're training for a big running event or triathlon than the 965 is he better option but the AWU has a lot more smart features. And I think you'd miss some of those smart features if you left the AW ecosystem. 2-3 days of battery life is going to feel like a big improvement and you'll love the screen and materials of this watch. It's a really hard call but I think it comes down to what's most important for you. They're both great options.
@@mlegrand I really love all the features of a smartwatch. Right now Im trainning for a marathon, do you think AWU works? And I really dont want to switch to garmin, but every runner I know tells me how awesome their watches are.
@@eduardodelacruzr6006 - The Garmin might be amazing for the running specific features but you're also wearing the watch for more than just running on a daily bases. Hi mate! Just have a simple question for you. Because I never had any Apple Watches before i want to ask: do you need to have a cellular to make a phone calls and receive a message or connection to Bluetooth is enough? I’m just planning to buy Ultra 2 but do not want to use cellular.
You can make and receive calls on the Apple Watch with a bluetooth connection to your smart phone. I don't have a cellular plan form my Apple Watch but my middle kid does so he can use his without a phone connected. Hope that helps. Best of luck with the new device. Hope it's awesome for you!
@@mlegrand Sorry just have 1 more questions. If you already paired your Apple Watch with IPhone and after a some time you need to reboot your iPhone. Will the watch connect automatically or you need to do something?
Hey Matt, I really enjoyed watching this video! Your transitions and b-roll are just another level! As an aspiring content creator myself, I know how much these vids can be a labour of love! Really inspiring - thank you!
about swimming - what i've observed with my watch 7 is it doesn't really measure laps properly. It often doubles laps, say i did 25m it counts 50m. Is that observed with the ultra 2 as well or have they fixed it?
From what I can tell the swimming lap detection algorithm is the same on all of these Apple Watches. I wonder if your free style stroke is normal or if there’s anything odd going on?
The AWU 2 is designed for more extreme environments and has a water resistance rating of up to 100 meters. This makes it suitable for recreational scuba diving to depths of up to 40 meters and other high-velocity water sports like waterskiing and surfing. Additionally, the Ultra 2 is certified to the EN13319 standard, which is a diving accessory standard used by professional divers. The AWS9 has a water resistance rating of up to 50 meters under the ISO standard 22810:2010. This means it is appropriate for shallow-water activities such as swimming in a pool or ocean. However, it is not recommended for scuba diving, waterskiing, or other activities involving high-velocity water or deeper submersion.
Wow, thank you!!! Yeah, I love working on that sort of stuff within these videos. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
😅I have given up thinking Apple will give a long lasting battery life it always be a 2 to 3 day before it needs a recharge again When I look at my enduro 2 😳 almost 2 months. I stop it there I give it a lot tons praise But to give credit where it’s due the AWU 2 works a lot better maybe cause the constant updates excellent progress. The LTE is a must on any smart watch. When you are doing something important example jogging, lifting weights or on marathon you get the important call, text, Amazon package delivery etc the quick instant reply The certain s you can do on the watch can be lifesaver. Without your phone very handy but it’s not a phone replacement 👍🙌 In short AWU 2 is a better a version of the 1 same body different chipset 😅 I guess the smallest does apply Amazing intro Matt well done outstanding work always 🙌👏
My AWU 2 has held up really well against scratches. I can see some tiny issues with the AWU 1 after a year. But overall, this watch has held up better than some other titanium watch bodies that I had and reviewed on this channel. Thanks Dr Chungus!
I haven't tested that. It should be ok but would shut down if it detects itself getting too hot. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I made a video about Apple Watch Bands when they first came out. It's a hard call but I think I like this trail loop one the best currently: amzn.to/3SqcBOB
New band ... I think some company (if not Apple) will offer an adapter so the old bands can still be used with the new band connection... that could be EVERY band company.
I'll be very curious to see what Apple does next! Thank you for watching Denniss. And thank you for taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand As an activity and health monitor, their functionality is excellent, heart rate, oxygen level, sleep biking, hiking, swimming, weight training, yoga and a ton of other regimens, all standard with the device. The battery life is excellent - my Versa 2 will last almost a week. You’re not going to find GPS on one, although they will Sync with your phone GPS and track your route - again, standard. The biggest downside is that I don’t find them particularly durable. I have not had one last more than a couple years, and usually far less. I am strongly thinking about replacing with an Apple Ultra 2 or Garmin watch. I go on hikes, by myself and often get concerned about trail direction, so having a map handy is very important to me. My iPhone is useless as the battery will not support a 4-6 hour hike or bike ride, and it often overheats in the sun (attached to my handlebars). If the phone sleeps, it pretty much loses signal. I go to national parks or reasonably remote places about 4 times/year, and I often ride my bike around town. I typically use AllTrails. I’d be happy if Garmin made a pocket trail map phone-like device with a good screen and long battery life, but I’m not sure such a thing exists.
Hope you’re enjoying it. I think you’re going to really like it. It’s super durable. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

The one BIG reason to upgrade (for me anyways as I’m older) is the size of the screen. As you get older and your start to need reading glasses the size of the fonts become a big factor. No point getting a series 9 Apple Watch if you can’t read it . But a great reason for the Ultra 2 😊

Thank you for sharing! I was worried about this. 😊 I’m finally getting one this week.
I am a woman too love my U2
Today i get my Ultra 2. The last 30 Years i always had a Casio. A new Era is beginning now for me. Thanks for your video helping my to decide to take it. I am complete trapped now in the apple universe. It started with an Ipad, then an Iphone, then an Iphone for my wife, then 2 for the Kids, after that an apple watch SE for my wife, to round it up apple one for the family and on top now the Ultra 2 for me. To be continued...😂
i have completely fogotten the 13" Ipad for my wife so she can comfortable play garden scapes and watch her own films offside the family tv.😉
They call it the “walled garden”. 😆 Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

I put my Garmin Epix 2 back in the box and got the Ultra 2 today. For me it’s more useful to have cellular. I like not carrying my phone all the time.
Wow, that’s some good durability right there!!!

I'm upgrading from the Series 3, I think this is going to be a nice upgrade.
Agreed, I think you’re really going to love this one. Come back and let me know, if you remember.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words. That intro shot was a really fun one to make. But you've got the idea. I just broke up all of the parts. 👌
Upgrading from the First gen SE to this today! Cant wait :)

Hi Matt,
Firstly, happy 2024, and thanks for your videos.
100% agree with this. It’s not a reasonable suggestion for me to make but it does work. 😬

These two are very similar in accuracy. I wouldn’t be able to distinguish between the two on accuracy and these are two brands I test against each other daily. 🤷🏻♂️
@@mlegrand Oh. Thanks a lot.
Thanks
Beautifully shot and edited
Thank you so much!
I love my ultra 2 fantastic I have a small wrist too but it still looks great.
I agree. This is a great device. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I have an Apple Watch SE and I'm also a runner. I am between the Forerunner 965 and the AWU.
What would you recommend?
The AWU is actually a fantastic watch for running and marathoning. I made a video recently talking just about the AWU 2 for running: ruclips.net/video/x7CfgvEJA2c/видео.htmlfeature=shared
I'm glad I have a Garmin Fėnix 7. I don't owe an iPhone anyway. 😂 Matt should get an Oscar for best B-roll 🤜🤛
Thanks for checking out this video even though it doesn't exactly apply to you. That Fenix 7 is a fantastic option. Hope all is well Zotmund! 👍🏻
Dude. Thank you for all your awesome content on the ultras. New subscriber here.
Wow, thanks Michael! Thanks for watching any of these and taking the extra time to comment. Let me know if there's anything in particular you want to see. Should be fun to see what Apple does with this line up next! 👍
@@mlegrand thanks a lot
@@mlegrand Sorry just have 1 more questions. If you already paired your Apple Watch with IPhone and after a some time you need to reboot your iPhone. Will the watch connect automatically or you need to do something?
@@Skullwavex - Everything between the iPhone and the Apple Watch is pretty automatic. I wish more watches were as well connected.
@@mlegrand ok thank you so much
Hey Matt, I really enjoyed watching this video! Your transitions and b-roll are just another level! As an aspiring content creator myself, I know how much these vids can be a labour of love! Really inspiring - thank you!
Wow, thank you so much! I enjoy working on those transitions and b-roll clips.
I went from a series 3 to the ultra 2 I’d say it was definitely worth the upgrade lollll
Yeah! That's a big upgrade. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I have only had the ultra watch 2 for just over a day I upgraded from the series 8
How are you liking it? They should feel similar in a lot of the functionality but the Ultra is significantly more durable.
Your videos are so good!
Thank you so much Kai!
Holy transitions
Thanks Steve!!! I really enjoyed making that one!
about swimming - what i've observed with my watch 7 is it doesn't really measure laps properly.
I love mine…would recommend 💯 it will last much longer than a normal one
Awesome!!! I’m glad it’s working out well for you. 🙌
Can you touch on the water resistant between the ultra 2 and 9series?
Bro that intro was sick
Wow, thank you!!! Yeah, I love working on that sort of stuff within these videos. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
😅I have given up thinking Apple will give a long lasting battery life it always be a 2 to 3 day before it needs a recharge again
When I look at my enduro 2 😳 almost 2 months. I stop it there I give it a lot tons praise
But to give credit where it’s due the AWU 2 works a lot better maybe cause the constant updates excellent progress. The LTE is a must on any smart watch. When you are doing something important example jogging, lifting weights or on marathon you get the important call, text, Amazon package delivery etc the quick instant reply
The certain s you can do on the watch can be lifesaver. Without your phone very handy but it’s not a phone replacement 👍🙌
In short AWU 2 is a better a version of the 1 same body different chipset 😅 I guess the smallest does apply
Amazing intro Matt well done outstanding work always 🙌👏
Thank you!!!
How well has the titanium case held up against scratches?
My AWU 2 has held up really well against scratches. I can see some tiny issues with the AWU 1 after a year. But overall, this watch has held up better than some other titanium watch bodies that I had and reviewed on this channel. Thanks Dr Chungus!
How good is it in the sauna/heat?
I haven't tested that. It should be ok but would shut down if it detects itself getting too hot. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Hi @mlegrand, which strap do you recommend considering I work out 5to6 days a week?
I made a video about Apple Watch Bands when they first came out. It's a hard call but I think I like this trail loop one the best currently: amzn.to/3SqcBOB
Oh, here's my video about watch bands: ruclips.net/video/LsRBIOcXeHE/видео.htmlfeature=shared
U can watch videos on the ultra 1 also
Good point. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Have you ever checked out a Fitbit?
I have one around here somewhere but I’ve yet to review one. What do you think of them?
I’d be happy if Garmin made a pocket trail map phone-like device with a good screen and long battery life, but I’m not sure such a thing exists.
came from series 7 to ultra 2 this is my first week with it.
Hope you’re enjoying it. I think you’re going to really like it. It’s super durable. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand your welcome buddy . Thanks
The video quality is absolutely insane!! Subscribed, and so excited to watch this channel grow!
Wow, thank you Allen!!!
Great honest video!!!
I'm always brutally honest! Thank you so much for the kind words and thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
That intro was fire!!!!
But wait ... watching youtube on the watch .... ? but how ?
There’s an app called Watch Tube. It’s not great but it’s possible 🤷🏻♂️
o0o0o0o0o0wwww immma check it out ! thank you for the super fast reply XD ! @@mlegrand
dope intro man! Next level editing, great job
Wow, thank you Adam! I really enjoyed making that one. 👌
Another great video, thanks!
Thanks so much Tom!!!
Crazy vid keep working
Thanks I think. 🤔
My god, that first transition..
Thank you! I had a lot of fun making that one! 🙏
Is it the Garmin forerunner 265 that you’re wearing on the left harm?
I think it is. I do also have a white 265 that I’ve been testing recently. 👌 Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I’m testing Garmin Venu 3 for the moment coming from forerunner 245 but I’m also interested to test Forerunner 265 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2
@@Samadria - Cool! I'm testing the Venu 3 for an upcoming review video also. I think for you, it'll come down to if you want the mic/ speaker combo on the Venu or a more sports focussed watch like the 265.
@@mlegrand indeed but you have also the latest HR sensor elevate 5 on the Venu 3 and a bigger screen, ECG also but it’s just for fun, you won’t do it all day.
I bought AWU 2 on 19/08 and last week I see a hairline scratch on the screen visible in sunlight- disappointing although I have AppleCare+. These scratches are normal? I have Garmin Fenix 6 pro Sapphire since 3 years and ZERO scratches on screen!
I personally wouldn't think scratches are normal. Do you know how you got that scratch? That's super disappointing. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrandI honestly have no idea how I got that :( it's small and visible if you really look for it.😢 Idk if Apple will replace the entire watch since I have AppleCare+..
nevermind, you're doing an EXCELLENT job, love your work and look forward for your videos
Great video Matt, after this I am going over to buy one. They should cut you a deal, lol!
Absolutely they should. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Unless I missed it. I guess there is no update on the GPS accuracy as I don’t think there was anything even mentioned about this in the video.
No change from the AWU 1 from what I can seen. The GPS accuracy is still very good on this watch. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
