After returning the version 10 watch, I then got the Ultra 2 black watch, and I’ve had it 3 days. The Ultra 2 Taptic is as strong as my old version 7 watch, and it wakes me every day so far. I really love the watch face Ultra provides and the battery life. And although I am slim with skinny wrists and it’s massive, I still love the Ultra and it’s worth the occasional annoyance when sleeping or if it gets caught rarely when reaching into a bag or whatever.
I went from the Ultra 2 to the Series 10 and have no regrets! I just work the charging within my routine, and with the fast charging it’s really not an issue for me. It’s just so much more comfortable to wear and it looks better when I go out to eat or an event. The Ultra is too rugged for a small lady like me 😅 and the extent of my workouts is hiking. I had an Ultra 1 and switched to a S10, it’s so much better for day to day life but I truly miss having the dual frequency GPS for running, I’ve noticed the S10 isn’t as accurate for me in my neighborhood when running and it’s a bummer.
I’m using my series 10 a couple of weeks and battery life is far better than my old 7 (i wouldn’y have switched if it didn’t broke), now i can use the watch for 36h without charging. I charged it yesterday at 7 am and today i am at 17% at 6:30 pm with two workouts in the gym and doing 10km of bike per day
Couldn’t agree more. Love the look of the Ultra and like the extra features…but there’s no denying it’s uncomfortable to wear all day. The S10 is super comfortable, can’t even feel it on my wrist….we need the Ultras Modular face on the S10 though!!
@@BrandonButchcan't see it happening mate , if you cut down the size , you must start to compromise on features , physics dictates, if you want all the bells and whistles, you just cannot fit them all into a small case.

I thought I was crazy for potentially keeping both... did you get cellular for both? Do you know if it's easy to bounce cellular (I have verizon) between the two? I thought I was past this decision making, but the 10 is so alluring... (went from silver U2, S10 titanium, black U2). I have problems 😂
Couple Questions. Air Pods pro 2 with hearing aid. Can I listen to a book on my iPad and here’s a TV through the AirPod pro 2 at the same time? If I receive a phone call while I am on my iPad will the air pods pro2 switch to the iPhone automatically. A nice review on the air pods pro 2 would be nice.
The 10 has all you need in my opinion. If you have access to a charger daily there's also no need to spend all that extra money on the ultra. From my own experience: the 10 sits comfortably on the wrist during workouts. I do wear it with the crown button on the left side instead of the usual upper right side. It pressed in my hand sometimes when I twisted my wrist before, now it doesn't. The real thing here is the software. The work-out app does have an option to track gym workout but not specific gym exercises. You'll need a third party app for that but that will also be the case with the ultra 2.
Loosing modular duo is also a dealbreaker for me. I was going to get the 10 from the 9 which I have but forget it. What is wrong with Apple. All information is right there with those. I don’t understand well one less sale
Hi, I still use a Series 7 aluminum. Think about switching to 10 in jetblack. The 10 in titanium would also be nice but then I could probably also reach for the Ultra?
I’m using the watch ultra 2 with some chinesium watch strap which doesn’t look half bad Don’t have any issues sleeping with it, only problem is getting my sleeves over it 💀
After watching this video, I’ve come to realize that many people buy and use the Ultra models like buying a Range Rover for commuting and for hauling groceries…nothing wrong with that, but it’s not its intended purpose. It’s best suited for lifestyles involving trekking “off the beaten path.” It is up to personal preference, though, how people use it, even if it’s not being used to its potential. Ideally, getting one of each for the different purposes makes sense the way Brandon stated - like having a daily/commuter car and one for off-roading.
Well the whole point of having a premium car or a premium phone or a premium watch is not about using all the functions , it is about having those features whenever you want to use them. And even the heavier build is a convenience that , your device can take the rough and tumble of daily life without you giving it a second thought . Just like having a multi purpose vehicle like a big 4wd theoretically could save you buying a second car for a specific purpose.
Every single person I have spoken to about the ultra they use says the same: got it for the battery life. None of them goes canyoning, diving etc. None of them wants to admit they bought the big boy model just to flex :)
I mean it’s the same for Garmins; people pay $1000+ for a watch that they don’t really need, no one is spending weeks out in the wild all the time. 95% of the time it’ll be used commuting to work or going shopping. It’s just nice to have when you need to do things like hiking or diving.
@@mikldude9376 The primary consumer demographic of Range Rover vehicles is married, young-to-middle-aged suburban-residing females. Do you believe they buy that vehicle so they can have the ability to go off-roading or on trails when they need them? For the AWU: you believe majority of its customers are preparing themselves to use them on a hike out in the middle of the wilderness and mountain climbing? Be realistic. And you are confusing premium features for something being purpose-built. As I stated, people do buy these things regardless whether they need those extra features, but if they end up using them is another thing. The standard Series watches are robust enough for daily life.
@@superiortoall22 I agree with you - nice to have when you do engage in those recreations. But, I’m just estimating that more than half of Ultra buyers will not be doing any hiking or diving. Meaning, it is nice to have but not using to its potential.
This is the best versus video I ever seen. I have both series 10 and Ultra 2 and I didn’t decide what keep but now I will use Series 10 as daily driver and Ultra for the outdoors activities and for travels. Thanks a lot!
I used to have the Ultra 1 and went with Series 10.... and yeah, I MISS the Modular Ultra screen. I find it's so sad because the screen of the Series 10 should be almost bigger than Ultra 2. Mmmmm....

I'm 52, using an Apple Watch for years now and have just switched to the series 10. Seeing you're not doing extreme sports and you regularly have access to a charger, I wouldn't spend that extra money on an ultra 2 if I were you (unless you have plenty of money and you want to flex the big boywatch). Between the series 9 and 10, I definitely recommend the 10. The screen really is noticeably bigger and pleasant to use, and it's nice that it's thinner than the 9. Fits perfectly under a dress shirt too. Best update: it now charges really really fast. Need to step out the house? 15 minutes of charging will get you a long way. If you can, get one with cellular. With those, you don't need to carry your phone in your pocket all the time. You can leave it in the golf bag, in the car or even at home and still be able to make calls, read e-mails and track fitness. The Apple Watch is a great fitness tracker. And if you get one, don't forget to speak to Siri, saves a lot of time if you're like me and you make a lot of typo's on phones :)
Got my series 10 charged it up to 100 % .. Got a full 37 hours with working out on a single charge.. Charging from 0-100 took a little less than a hour..
I get rid of my Ultra 1 to get the series 10 jet black. Now, as a bodybuilder, I use my watch to track my workouts, sleep, and performance. I guarantee the battery will last more than a day. Way comfortable to sleep and when the first hiking cardio outdoors I done the performance and precision were great.
I think the Ultra 2 is also better if you just want the peace of mind that it won't break and you don't need a case or screen protector. If only we had an iPhone ultra that was the same way.
When u are used to regular AW this isn’t anything new. U are used to charge it every night. I sometimes charge with 20 percent left and sometimes with 50 depend how much i use watch. I have S7 and it is noticeable. My side button is jammed for like a 1.5 years now it’s frustrating.
I wondered that myself mate , I know Siri has basic functions on the U2 , but somehow I doubt that these watches will get apple intelligence, unless they can do it in cloud . The thought did cross my mind that the Ultra 3 next year might have the feature . Your guess is as good as mine😊.
Great video! I Actually have both with me, traded in a series 7 midnight and really liking fast charge and a slightly bigger and brighter display. And need to sent in the trade for my ultra 1 mostly changing for the color. Although the ultra 2 got the screen scratched within the first 3 hours of use not sure how. While my ultra 1 after 2 years of use is in perfect shape. So not sure about that I might return it and get another one and maybe be more careful ? Anyways good review!
I’ve got the Apple Watch Series 6 and definitely ultra 2 would be ideal. It’s on offer here in the UK for £650 but waiting for Black Friday if a better price.
Still in doubt between these two, still figuring out how durable the ultra 2 in black is because I do heavy work where maybe a series 10 won’t survive with its curved edges…
Hmm, I can not imagine that the Series 10 will go out of battery on a day hike? Maybe the second day? And durability wise I agree, but is it really worth it to keep two then? For me the 10 is the clear winner because it's sleeper, looks better and has even a better display.
I'm so confused by the 18hr battery life claim on the Series 9. It's way longer! Over 24hrs mine drops about 65%. I charge it each morning for 35min to get it back up to about 95%. Does anyone else have this, or do some really only last 18 hours?
Just bought the black ultra 2 on Monday just past , my first smart watch , I'm blown away by its capabilities , it's like having a small smartphone on your wrist , very cool. And even taking phone calls despite having my phone in my pocket , just being able to lift the wrist tap the green button and talk , just not having to hold your phone is very nice . I still have not got the watch set up optimally and I have been using the hell out of it, using the sleep monitor , and the walking health stuff , and I've still been getting between a full day and nearly 2 days . Also playing Spotify to my headphones . And I've been using apple pay via the watch , very cool !
Welcome in the 21st century! It's great isn't it? If you have a cellular plan for the watch it gets even better: you can leave the phone at home, in your car or bag. Go standalone, so liberating. Enjoy your ultra 2, the black one is very stylish
Start looking at apps too! I have full control of my house and my vehicle from my watch, so I can leave my keys in my car when I go for a run. Nike Run app allows you to download the guided route for the day and leave your phone behind. It’s smart enough to lower the music slightly when the run coach is talking then adjust it back to normal when he goes quiet. Ordered an uber back to my house one night from my watch.
Will the sensors work on or over a tattoo? I know you don’t have a sleeve, but if you do and you have tried the series 10, can it stay unlocked and utilize the sensors?

when I had series 6, I started any workout with Siri. it wasn't as quick (or discrete) as using the action button, but it wasnt like navigating through menu.
Brandon I was just wondering I have iOS 18.1 on my iPhone the public beta am I going to have trouble pairing my new Apple Watch 10 that’s coming in a couple of days, can you help me with that? I watch all your videos and I love them
I am keeping my Ultra 2 that I got a year ago. MY primary reasoning is the Oxygen sensor with my Ultra 2. It is that important for me to know my Oxygen levels. The other things I really like the fact that it has the longer battery life and going a couple days of not having to charge the watch
I like the O2 sensor as well, and it's reallly dumb that Apple doesn't negotiate a deal with the company that owns the patent on that technology. For folks who buy an AW that doesn't have the O2 sensor, you can get a pulse oximeter from Amazon for around $20 to check your blood oxygen level. But an AW with an O2 sensor is better because because it checks it periodically, including when you sleep. You can get an O2 ring from Amazon for $150-200 that you can wear while you sleep and it will take readings continuously through the night and transfer them to an app in your phone (and your Health app) via bluetooth.
I have never had the Ultra... I have been using the Apple Watch since series 7... I am amazed you could ever sleep through the alarm... I have never slept through the alarm of the watch 😮
I have the series 10 in black,I was not paying twice the price for the ultra 2 in black, the advantage of the series 10 is it’s so low profile it’s less likely to get damaged and it’s better for wearing at night during sleep, the battery life is not an issue at all and it charges really fast, twenty minutes charge gives me plenty of charge from roughly 20-80 that lasts 24 hours till it’s 20 again.I don’t seem the value in the ultra 2 compared to the series 10 especially at twice the price
The low profile of the watch is not what keeps it safe, if you are wearing it then its inevitable it will bang into things now and then... then you are faced with the first disadvantage which is the rounded edges, the ultra watch has a flat face protected by the body, you are MUCH more likely to bang the glass on your series 10 than you are on the ultra where you are much more likely to hit the body. Every ultra watch also comes with sapphire crystal which almost will never scratch, only the titanium series 10 has the sapphire... at almost double the aluminum watch price so getting super close to ultra pricing. The ultra having longer battery life also means you need to charge it less, less charge cycles means in 1 - 2 years the battery should still be relatively healthy while on the series 10 with daily charging that battery will be far more tired, it wont matter how fast it charges if it degrades enough you cant get it to last the day while out, so thats another understated advantage of the ultra. For most people the normal watch is still the smarter option, but there is for sure value in the ultra when you really consider what those advantages mean.
I tried the 10 hoping it would be better for sleep for me than Ultra 2, but alas it was not. Plus, I really missed being able to use the action button (with side button) to be able to pause runs. Hitting the side button and the digital crown to do that on the series watches is fidgety for me. Returned the 10 and just got a cheap small se ($189 right now) to try for sleep tracking. Let’s see how that goes..
I have the series 8 so I’m not upgrading, but this is nice! Great review! I hope they bring blood oxygen back because I’d miss that feature if I switched
Not sure what people are doing with their watch but I get at least 30hrs on my S10. Couldn’t care less about the modular watch face. The S10 is fine for some outdoor sports, such as running, some trail running, light trail hiking etc.. real rugged outdoor sports U2.
The Ultra watches have three microphones and does isolation it at a hardware level verses the S10 which uses one microphone and the SIP to do audio voice isolation.
I just got my Titanium gold series 10 watch with the gold band and I absolutely love it! It looks good enough to wear when dressed up and yet is great for casual dress too. I love it.
Cellular connectivity is underrated as a safety feature. Being able to make contact in an emergency negates the need for carrying iPhone when outdoors. Series 10 battery does not hold up well with cellular.
I don’t mind the height of the Ultra, but the lug to lug is too much for me. I have the wrist width of a pre teen, so the ultra hangs over my wrist and looks like an oversized G-Shock on me. Until they go much smaller, I’ll stick with the normal series Apple Watches.

I had an Ultra 1 and switched to a S10, it’s so much better for day to day life but I truly miss having the dual frequency GPS for running, I’ve noticed the S10 isn’t as accurate for me in my neighborhood when running and it’s a bummer.
Does the jet black scratch like the iPhone 7?
What is your wrist size? I don't think you mentioned that as a reference point. TIA
I’m using my series 10 a couple of weeks and battery life is far better than my old 7 (i wouldn’y have switched if it didn’t broke), now i can use the watch for 36h without charging. I charged it yesterday at 7 am and today i am at 17% at 6:30 pm with two workouts in the gym and doing 10km of bike per day
and isn't it great how fast it charges?!
How long does the battery last if you make calls and use WiFi data?
How you tried the galaxy watch ultra? If so, how does it compare to the apple watch?
Couldn’t agree more. Love the look of the Ultra and like the extra features…but there’s no denying it’s uncomfortable to wear all day. The S10 is super comfortable, can’t even feel it on my wrist….we need the Ultras Modular face on the S10 though!!
YES! I'm begging Apple to bring something similar to the Series 10.
@@BrandonButchcan't see it happening mate , if you cut down the size , you must start to compromise on features , physics dictates, if you want all the bells and whistles, you just cannot fit them all into a small case.
Bro is uploading every other day I really like your channel Brandon 😮
Thanks! It's my busiest stretch of the year haha
Is the series 10 46mm enough to track 6.5 hours of skiing? My series 7 dies after 3.5 hours…
My Series 10 lasts 48 hours, could not be happier with it, for all the same positives that you have highlighted here.
wow that's amazing! I haven't seen anything close to 48hr on mine.
What settings do u use to get so much battery life? Mine has 35% Left when I used it all day long
@@DennisD8 I follow Settings on iPhone and Watch as recommended by Brandon Butch and Payette Forward. I have restricted my messages to the Messaging Apps, such as Telegram, WhatsApp, Messages. Uber, the health apps etc. So basically not Social Media apps like FB & IG.
Great review I bought the series 10 Hermes edition see how it goes from the Ultra 2!
Nope, I only have cellular in the Ultra. And you’re just like me 🤣
Do you feel like you need some kind of screen protector for the 10?
True for any watch.
I go to the gym and need a daily watch
Which would you recommend?
As I mentioned in the vid, Series 10 is best for that
@@BrandonButch sorry lol but thank you 🙏🏽
The 10 has all you need in my opinion.
Been on the fence between these 2… but I figured, the U2 would be the one that I want, but the S10 is the one that I only need.
But if you had to choose just one of these watches (like most people would) to keep and use, which would it be?
I’m using the watch ultra 2 with some chinesium watch strap which doesn’t look half bad
Don’t have any issues sleeping with it, only problem is getting my sleeves over it 💀
🤣 same, I can't stand putting on a button-up shirt with the Ultra
Chinesium!!!
Short sleeves , problem solved 😊.
How are you playing audio straight out of the Ultra 2?
I used to have the Ultra 1 and went with Series 10.... and yeah, I MISS the Modular Ultra screen. I find it's so sad because the screen of the Series 10 should be almost bigger than Ultra 2. Mmmmm....
Ultra 2 is the best never have to worry about charging
I am looking at getting my first ever Apple watch I am trying to decide between the series 9 or the series 10 or the black ultra 2 I am 59 years old and not a real tech jockey lol what i want it for is day to day watch the health benefits and to use it on the golf course for distances and to keep track of my steps etc which do you think would suit me or be my best choice between these 3 watches ? thx a bunch awesome review by they way cheers from Vulcan Canada
@@KingFozzie1 thx i appreciate your response and ya i am leaning too the 10 thx again
The 46mm looks good on your wrist. I cant decide between the 42 mm and the 46 mm, can you advise as to the size of your wrist. Mine is 165mm.
I need to try out the 42mm. I might make a video comparing the two soon
I have an SE2 cellular and I’m thinking of moving to the 10 next year. It looks pretty slick.
Coming from the original Ultra. 10 Jet Black is awesome . Love double tap and the lightness
Im planning to buy the apple watch 10 hope the battery wont disappoint me.
Is that 42mm or 46mm for the Apple Watch 10
Great video, I just wish the bezels were slimmer like the series 9. I know the glass is more rounded but it still looks bigger
Nice! Yeah if you mostly do indoor workouts, series 10 is the way to go
@@BrandonButch either one works just fine...
I think the Ultra 2 is also better if you just want the peace of mind that it won't break and you don't need a case or screen protector. If only we had an iPhone ultra that was the same way.
Great informative video, does the series 10 scratch easily being jet black?
Nope. No scratches at all on mine
What color of sport loop band, that you use with S10? Is that Ink color 😀
Is the new watch face on series 6 Apple Watches?
10 got mine a week ago but why doesn't work double-tap fingertips? even it on 🤔
When u are used to regular AW this isn’t anything new. U are used to charge it every night. I sometimes charge with 20 percent left and sometimes with 50 depend how much i use watch. I have S7 and it is noticeable. My side button is jammed for like a 1.5 years now it’s frustrating.
Do these watches either support, Apple Intelligence? I’ve been trying to look all over and I’ve been getting mixed answers.
I wondered that myself mate , I know Siri has basic functions on the U2 , but somehow I doubt that these watches will get apple intelligence, unless they can do it in cloud .
The thought did cross my mind that the Ultra 3 next year might have the feature .
Your guess is as good as mine😊.
AI availability on either watch would've been mentioned in the keynote.
Nope
Great video! I Actually have both with me, traded in a series 7 midnight and really liking fast charge and a slightly bigger and brighter display. And need to sent in the trade for my ultra 1 mostly changing for the color. Although the ultra 2 got the screen scratched within the first 3 hours of use not sure how. While my ultra 1 after 2 years of use is in perfect shape. So not sure about that I might return it and get another one and maybe be more careful ? Anyways good review!
Might as well return it! Apple is good with returns. I've never had a scratch on any of my Ultra's and they've been banged around a lot
I want to know what about scratches on the Jet Black? I want that one but am worried about it scratching easily.
Not so many people mention about this. Dont know why
@@anh1093 because there's nothing to mention. Nobody I know, myself included, has issues with scratches
I’ve got the Apple Watch Series 6 and definitely ultra 2 would be ideal. It’s on offer here in the UK for £650 but waiting for Black Friday if a better price.
Hows the durability of the AW in jet black? Any paint or glass issues?
No one knows, it's like taboo to speak off
Still in doubt between these two, still figuring out how durable the ultra 2 in black is because I do heavy work where maybe a series 10 won’t survive with its curved edges…
Agree 100%. I love the 10 but miss the Ultra. Next year I am not trading in the 10 and buying an Ultra…that way I will have the best of both worlds!
Doesn’t the S10 and Ultra 2 have the same brightness?
2000 Nits S 10. 3000 Nits Ultra 2. I have both at the moment and can’t see the difference.
Will the sensors work on or over a tattoo? I know you don’t have a sleeve, but if you do and you have tried the series 10, can it stay unlocked and utilize the sensors?
Not by default but some found little workarounds. Check out this thread: www.reddit.com/r/AppleWatch/comments/qgbf5g/confirmed_tattoo_fix_epoxy_bottlecap_sticker/
Did you decide between the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max yet?
Nope, still using both daily lol. It’s tough this year
@@BrandonButch I’m in the same boat haha but leaning max because the screen is too great for content.
Apple Watch 11.1 beta 3 pulled following bricking reports / what about m4 iPads?
Ive been using the 10 since it came out and for some reason, after over 7 days, it still hasnt shown any data for Wrist temperature. im not too sure why Other than than im quite happy with it.
PS: I had a series 6 before this so, a good upgrade overall
when I had series 6, I started any workout with Siri. it wasn't as quick (or discrete) as using the action button, but it wasnt like navigating through menu.
Brandon I was just wondering I have iOS 18.1 on my iPhone the public beta am I going to have trouble pairing my new Apple Watch 10 that’s coming in a couple of days, can you help me with that? I watch all your videos and I love them
Maybe a little off topic, but Watch OS 11 is terrible for battery life on my series 8.
What is your wrist circumference?
6.7”
Yes I was in the Air Force for 7 years and it was taught or beat into our chair force heads until we at least were decently educated.
As a hiker I feel the exact same. Ultra 2 is fantastic in the outdoors. Love it.
Went with the Hermes S10 this year , oh man, I’m loving mine. Coming from an ultra first gen.
The Ultra watches have three microphones and does isolation it at a hardware level verses the S10 which uses one microphone and the SIP to do audio voice isolation.
Yep, the SIP does a much better job at isolating!
I just got my Titanium gold series 10 watch with the gold band and I absolutely love it! It looks good enough to wear when dressed up and yet is great for casual dress too. I love it.
The Titanium looks very sleek. Nice choice!
@@BrandonButchtitanium watch 10 also seems as rugged as ultra
I found a nice unobtrusive case for my 46 mm Watch 10 at Amazon
Cellular connectivity is underrated as a safety feature. Being able to make contact in an emergency negates the need for carrying iPhone when outdoors. Series 10 battery does not hold up well with cellular.
Agree with everything you have said… miss the battery on the ultra, but love the sleek look of the 10..
Ok got it Ultra 2 is what I’m going with thank you
I don’t mind the height of the Ultra, but the lug to lug is too much for me. I have the wrist width of a pre teen, so the ultra hangs over my wrist and looks like an oversized G-Shock on me. Until they go much smaller, I’ll stick with the normal series Apple Watches.
I’m getting jet black watch 10 46mm tomorrow
Look at the Ultra 2 black.
