I went to beauty school many yrs ago and this is exactly how I learned to cut hair, of any length. Love the video and just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the wonderful reminder of how I want my own hair to be cut. For some reason, my hairdresser never gets it right and I end up redoing it when I get home. I will now be doing my own, again, thanks to your wonderful instructions.

Can you help me?. My hair is naturally curly all my life, now at 70 still curly still trying to get the hair cut I like. My mother cut my hair until I was about 14, at 14 I wanted to style it straight. Iron board and iron my hair after Orange juice size hair rollers... At 30 I decided i wanted to let my hair go natural. And honestly it is very likely perfect strangers compliment me on my curly hair.... I am trying to find a hair dresser to listen, my mother would get cardboard and measure out maybe a 5", 4", 3" and use that as she would cut our hair. She would put the cardboard to scalp then pull hair up to the end of cardboard and cut. I had this short curly layered style from 8 years old to 14. I had a hairdresser who did that cut for me about 15 years ago but he quit cutting, I can't find anyone...i want to cut my own hair... My mother cut her own hair in this same way..

Hello, a short haircut for curly hair is ideal if your curly hair is too thick and puffy. The most effective solution remains a short layered cut that will thin out and lighten the mass of curls to regain lightness and ease of styling.

On curly hair, detangle your hair, twist each lock with your fingers to define the curls. Stretch a loop with your fingers, take your scissors and cut slightly at an angle, in the middle of it. Do the same with each loop. If you have soft curls or simple waves, opt for long, wispy bangs. The effect will be natural and the look a bit vintage. A side fringe, worn as an asymmetrical lock, will also be a good idea to energize a straight or degraded cut.
