Truth is that, like with any art form, you don't necessarily need skills. It's great if you have a natural hability, but practice is good too. I've been cutting my hair for 30 years now. Sure, sometimes I mess it up a bit, but only when I try something new and complicated. If you start with simple haircuts, following awesome tutorials, such as this one, you learn and get better with time.
Granted, I cut my own hair because I'm a shut in and hate people touching me, so I didn't have a choice but to practice, but it's fun. Even more when you keep in mind hair grows back, so go ahead and experiment: cut, color, style. Just, you know, buy a nice hat and learn to braid, just in case, 😹😹😹.

Why don t you just cut the baseline from the beginning, and save yourself all the other work?!...
Hey Leo, I always cut the baseline after cutting the internal shape. I mostly cut it dry too. The reason I prefer to do it this way, in my experience it is a more bullet proof way of accurately placing your layers and design line without accidentally cutting too short.
What other work??? It's a layerd bob, you will have to cut base and layers, no matter the order, the timing is the same!

Why do hairdressers alway cut so short into the neck at the start of a cut, it takes forever to grow back even if the rest grows faster, is it really necessary.....
Hi Christine, this hair cut is a triangular shape, hence why it’s shorter In the nape. Some people prefer that shape some don’t.

I was wondering the same. It does make a difference. Because if you do it before then you will have to cut those layers all the way down to the perimeter. When doing it after putting layers in it’s only half layered. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful haircut and he did an excellent job. But it does make a difference James.
@@tiffmorgan923 i totally agree, its been along time since creating this video. I just rewatched it. You could just cut the line and cut flat square layers in the top crown zone, and you will get the same result.

@@sf8290 Hey! this is a great option for fine hair. If your client has super fine i would recommend cutting a square line. Layers could remove to much weigh if the hair is too fine. Cutting a line with high tension will create a little graduation in the shape, making it feel like the shape has a little movement.

TY SO MUCH! Have been cutting my own short hair for years and years, but have been growing it out so was afraid to go after trimming it on my own...but your video convinced me I could do it! I did this cut today for my coworker. She had a shattered Bob but damage from styling so we needed to add layers. The result is a beautiful shape. I loved cutting the length last.. So smart! The point cutting in the back crown area blends it beautifully. I can't thank you enough for this short but perfect tutorial!!!!

Hey Svetlana, thanks for your comment. No i personally don't think it was unnecessary. Some people may, and thats ok. There is more than one way to do everything. My tutorials are fool proof precision haircuts for junior and senior hairdressers. Placing your layers and then placing your line guarantee's your precision (especially for heads of hair you haven't cut before). I'm currently studying a 2 month advanced cutting coarse at Vidal Sassoon's Academy in London, and a a lot of the ABC Classics are cut this way.

Confused here. If you take your guide from behind the ear, aren’t you creating a mullet?
Hey there, this haircut is concave (shorter at the back - longer in the front) a mullet is super short at the front and long in the back.
Taking sections behind the ear help to avoid holes or gaps that can occur because of the ear .
I hope that helps to answer your question. Let me know if you need a better explanation
Also in this haircut, taking the hair behind the ear and directing every section back to this guide gradually increases the length in the front. Which is the complete opposite to a mullet.

Hi! What's the difference between layered, graduated and choppy bob? I always ask for layered bob but always get graduated bob :(
Hey Lynx, a graduated bob is where the bob has graduation in the nape zone. It can be combined with layers and can also be choppy if cut with texture. Bobs can be one length, bobs can also be cut one length with layers.
If you cut downward on one side and upward on the other like he's doing, don't be surprised if your two sides do different things and you'll need product and blowing dry to make them behave.
There is no cutting upwards and downward. The scissor direction doesn’t change anything IF YOU follow your guide with precision. Something you’d learn as Sassoon’s, where learnt this shape. Thanks for your comment though

To make a video slower on RUclips, you can follow these instructions:
Open the RUclips video you want to watch in your browser.
Click on the gear icon located in the bottom right corner of the video player. This will open the Settings menu.
In the Settings menu, click on the Speed dropdown menu.
Choose a slower speed from the list of options. You can choose from 0.25x, 0.5x, or 0.75x to make the video play at 25%, 50%, or 75% of its original speed.
Once you have selected the desired speed, the video will begin to play at the slower speed.
If you want to return the video to its normal speed, simply repeat the steps above and select "Normal" from the Speed dropdown menu.
That's it! You can now enjoy your RUclips video at a slower pace.
Well i just tried to get this haircut and the stylist made it look like a triangle with no shape or movement. Im about to re cut it muself following this

My hairdresser used to give me this haircut a (little bit longer) ..she did it for years and then she quit doing hair and I have not been able to find anybody since that can cut hair like this. What the heck? This has been been five years ago I started wearing wigs because I can’t find anyone who could cut hair like this. I’ve been so frustrated and I need a good haircut. Each person that I go to and I asked for a layered medium length bob cut. I get two basic layers nothing blends.. it’s horrible..a waste of money.. I’m so baffled. I have fine hair and this is the only cut that gives me any volume and I get layered side swept bang with it and it always looked amazing. I could get up the next morning after my haircut and it would do the exact same thing as it did right after I got it cut, until I washed it again! now that is a good haircut!
