Just enjoyed watching this beautiful scene on a Saturday night in a suburb of Las Vegas. So touching, so well performed. One of my favorite movie scenes. Wife and I just cried and hugged after watching. Be kind to each other ❤️
Me too! It actually reminds me of my childhood a little bit. There was always music, piano, someone playing guitar, people singing. I probably sing more than I talk most days (when I’m home). You’re not anywhere near Seattle are you?
I love this song but i think i like it better this way. He makes it sound so much more touching. I cried my eyes out 1st time. I love this scene! And movie!
PETE TOWNSHEND MUSICAL GENIUS. IF YOU REALLY LISTEN TO PETE'S WORK YOU ARE GOING TO FIND. LIKE I DID 50 YEARS AGO THAT PETE TOWNSHEND IS ONE OF THE BEST SONG WRITERS EVER
I liked this movie. Steve did a good job throughout. Yes, I believe some families do stuff like this. Anyway this scene was perfect. Oh and daughter scene "screaming "murderer of love" is very dramatic and hilarious too.
Cool fact: the youngest daughter in this movie is now a grown woman, and she's completely out of the limelight, attending a medical sciences university.
I don't know if this is an american thing but I never knew anyone whose family do a variety show when they get together. That would explain why america is such a show business focused country.
Other way around. If any families actually do variety shows, it would be because we are a society built by show business, and our mutual exposure to media has shaped us. Show business in america was not shaped by our passion for doing home variety shows. FWIW, I don't know any families that do this kind of variety show, but idk maybe some do. I do know my church one time did a sort of "open mic" variety show night, to try to get people to come out of their shells and have fun together. But it was only attempted once, because it did not go over well.
Love the Lumières version of this song played at the end of season two of The Newsroom. See Allison Pill in this version…and she also gets to hold the attention of the song in the last episode of The Newsroom season two!
Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not envious, works not evil, knows not pride...Love defends all, love believes all, love hopes all, love bears all.
I wanted to love this movie because I love Steve Carell but Juliette Binoche and Dan Cook were horribly cast and this family is ridiculously unbelievable.
I’m sorry, I don’t know why, but I really dislike Dan Cook. He just rubs me wrong in every way, his face, his voice, I just cannot stand him. I feel badly as hate feeling that way about anyone.
One of the most touching scenes ever. Steve Carrell is an amazing actor. This is a beautiful song.
Pete Townshend originally sang it.
Such an underrated movie from the early millennium. It showed Carell’s range for sure.
Right, coming off the heels of Evan Almighty and The Office
This film is seriously underrated. It touched my heart.
It’s one of my favs for sure. Steve was so good 🥰

Those glances and quivering voice is a better love story than half of all romcoms.

Not an iPhone or iPad in sight. What a time to be alive.
The movie came out the same year as the iphone. It's not like you're talking 4 decades ago, it was 2007. Christ.
I always wanted family time like that. Maybe one day I will. His Singing really hit the heart

One of those films that goes under the radar, then later on you watch it and untold riches are laid before you. Exhibit B. Punch drunk love.
Punch Drunk Love was a beautiful movie
Punch Drunk Love, one of the greatest films of all time
I love this song but i think i like it better this way. He makes it sound so much more touching. I cried my eyes out 1st time. I love this scene! And movie!
I just woke up and I believe Jesus was singing this song to me. He brought your scene approximation to my heart and mind. Hallelujah for love!
Mi corazón se derrite. Gracias por este abrazo al corazón.
Absolutely LOVE this version! Brings a tear to my eyes every time. 💜
This is such a powerful scene I cannot hear this song without thinking about it

Pete is seriously probably the most under rated and under valued song writer of all time........
He has so many songs most people have no idea about. Street in the city. Brooklyn Kids. No romance on the road, Parvidgar. Etc
For me, the best movie OF Steve Carell.

Cute scene, and very emotional. I never saw this movie.
You should watch it. You will be glad you did

It’s hard to do and I’m blessed when it happens but this made me cry
I ugly cried at this scene lol…Love Steve👌🏾🖤

Kinda wanted to see more of her, she was so adorable in it!
Michael Scott asks "who likes Dane Cook?" Lol
Me gusta mucho esa película.
Love this movie. Particularly this touching scene.
I love this scene……so touching
Beautiful song, from the album Empty Glass. Post heroin Pete Townsend.
Dane, what a tool in this movie. Just had to play himself

When Dane cook was still a thing
He's not anymore? Maybe he can completely reinvent himself like Fred Durst did! LOL
I like Dane Cook. I’d be cool with him being a thing again.
Dane cook is underrated

"That's what she said"!!🤣🤣
One of my Pet Peeves is people clapping along to other people singing.
Do families actually do this when they get together in real life? No pun intended
Yes, in the early 2000's when smartphones and internet were not that popular
My fam 2k miles away does this every summer. Ive missed the past 7 years tho lol
My husband's family does. And they have 24 grandkids, so it's a whole big thing. It's fun though!
Wouldn’t it be nice?

can't the producers hire a real guitarist to show Carrell how the chords go - so he can at least change finger shapes as the songs changes chords

You people are nuts. The movie sucked, this scene is terrible, and Dane Cook is a punchline. Carrell should be embarrassed for having made this trash.
