It's one of my favorite movies that I can just go back and watch anytime. Perfect balance of comedy and heartfelt. It's also in my opinion Dane Cook's best role.
I know exactly what you mean. And it’s too bad his comedy career did not pan out much. But he’s really good in this movie and he’s likable in this scene
I wonder if the Mom's chuckle at the "wee-wee-wee" part was scripted or a natural reaction....either way, that part made me bust out laughing. :-) I also think the guy playing the piano has a great voice, sounds very soulful.
Haha yeah from then for five seconds it's just like a lovely little clip from The Office! This entire clip is my favourite part of this movie.. I love "It'll be swine.. Fine!" and "Go hog wild", along with the whole song, of course!
I've always thought that about this scene. It definitely seems like something that they would have just thrown together messing around on set. Dave Cook and Steve are also very good improvisors so it makes sense.
Sondré Lercher brought me here. First, I heard his version of Chandelier, then I searched modern nature then I read some comments about the movie and Ruthie Pigface Draper came to my head. :)
This was hilarious; best part of the movie and it's a good movie. The father's face at 2:38 is great; like he's really enjoying the performance! And Emily Blunt...yowza.
2:22 this little piggy went to market (oh yeah) this little piggy stayed home this little piggy had a roast beef this little piggy had a ham this little piggy had wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee all the way home say (oink)
Well imagine being a mother seeing your son flirt with his brothers girlfriend, that would be understandable tension, without any further context to the commotion. At the same time, it's unbelievably cruel, the amount of off timing and seemingly passive aggressive undertones of the Ruthie Draper arc. Imagine your wife passing away and someone mockingly introducing you to a blind date years later, and that blind date being some literal-who that other family members berated as being pig-faced.
@@phonewithoutquestion80 tbf tho the mother probably saw pigfaced emily blunt and saw she was not pigfaced anymore and might have thought itd be funny and good at the same time for his son to have a date with her. She was probably laughing her ass off when everyone was surprised the pigfaced girl they knew years ago was drop dead gorgeous now.
@@phonewithoutquestion80 The "blind date" was not set up as anything "mocking". The Mom had ran into Ruthie at the store that day and then set up the blind date for that evening. So, the Mom knew Ruthie was a beautiful woman. The rest of Dan's siblings, however, had not seen Ruthie in many years, but the Mom had seen her and then set up the blind date.
Severely underrated movie

best part of the movie
I was laughing/crying in the theater when I saw this part--GREAT movie!
I just fucking love Steve Carell in this movie c:
The piano is just sooo awesome.
This is brining back memory’s my dad would always play this in the song OMG the nostalgia hurts
The harmonies are on point.
this was my favorite song in the entire MOVIE! my god, yeah :D
Lol usually I don't like Dane Cook that much, but he was awesome in this movie. He's a good actor :D

Love this movie😋
So underrated. One of steve carell's best.
So in this movie Michael Scott goes on a date with Jim’s secret wife... =O
Best part of the movie
This scene is both timeless and painfully cruel, hook up the widower with someone the majority of the people in the room once found unattractive.
But it doesn’t matter because she turned out to be quite the beauty! So all of the preconceptions were wrong
Ale jak się potem okazało, wszystkim zatkało kakao🤭
LOL at granddad singing along “wee wee wee wee wee wee wee...”
I wonder if the Mom's chuckle at the "wee-wee-wee" part was scripted or a natural reaction....either way, that part made me bust out laughing. :-) I also think the guy playing the piano has a great voice, sounds very soulful.
I totally agree, and fun fact, he's actually a broadway star, his name is Norbert Leo Butz!
He's actually in a new Netflix original series called Bloodline. It's a good show, I just finished the first season.
Haha yeah from then for five seconds it's just like a lovely little clip from The Office!
This entire clip is my favourite part of this movie.. I love "It'll be swine.. Fine!" and "Go hog wild", along with the whole song, of course!
Excellent film. I love it so much.
Apparently, the whole pigface song on the piano was improved.

Improvised?

If Emily Blunt bit her lip for me, I would go crazy. What a woman!!! In all aspects of life, my perfect woman

Steve Carrell, Dane Cook, AND NORBERT LEO FREAKIN BUTZ??? In the same movie??? Together in one scene?!?!? my god...
Norbert ftw! I love that man. lol
Pigface Draper, was originally about chris draper of the detroit red wings NHL, dane cook was not a wing fan. Love the film.

That smile happens when he looks at Marie.
itll b swine err fine. go hog wild! the piggy song was hysterical tears streaming down my face! repeated it like 400 times! lol
3:01 I think Mitch lost interest in Marie when he saw Ruthie Draper.
Hahaha i love when they get back and he says "home again, home again." I about died laughing, I love this scene :P
2:22 this little piggy went to market (oh yeah)
this little piggy stayed home

this little piggy had wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee wee
all the way home say (oink)
this little piggy had none*
yeah my english is sux
"Oink!"
I always felt like the mother was unusually mean and critical to the son, Dan, in this movie. Maybe I'm misremembering though.
Not really; she was tough but fair.
No she was basically reminding his ass he was not on his best behavior.

I'm so glad his mom didn't accidentally say "Everyone, this is Ruthie 'Pig-Faced' Draper."
This is such a sweet and inspiring scene that shows how much casual fun there is to be had with people who are unattractive for whatever reason...
It shows the wonders of being pleasantly surprised. This scene goes another way if she is, in fact, pig-faced
cute and funny :)
hahahaha oooooink!
i just heard the original song with the three girls.. hmm?! it wasn't like that at all?
me too.
I love how the entire family knows how hot Ruthie now is but they just commit to the bit. Fucking RESPECT.
That is so mean!💩
Dumb movie, but funny scene. Emily Blunt was totally unknown at the time, honestly didn't remember it was her.
And she is a Dr. Looking like that? Hollywood. Ha ha ha.
THIS LITTLE PIGGY STAY HOME!
