  • Acid Reflux and the sensation of heartburn is a common complaint during pregnancy. As baby grows there is increased pressure within the body, which may lead to acid escaping the stomach. I've created a prenatal yoga video to open the chest and lengthen the spine. This will allow more space around the stomach and esophagus, bringing relief. If you are experiencing acid reflux you should avoid all inversions or postures that place the head below the heart, such as: downward facing dog (adho mukha svanasana). It will also help if you keep the torso at an incline (45 degree) when reclining back.
A folded blanket is an optional prop for this sequence. Please consult with your care provider to ensure physical activity is suitable for you at this time.
    Thanks for watching,
    Kathy

Does it help with shortness of breath??

Great question: although this video is for heartburn, the chest openers will help with shortness of breath. Shortness of breath may be caused by hormones as well as baby’s positioning. Opening the front body will help in creating more space for you and baby though.

Could we do this after having meal?

I would wait maybe 15 min after you eat. It’s a gentle practice and shouldn’t really cause any issues. If you wanted to be extra cautious, you could wait 45 min after you eat and then do the sequence.
