@@brendamolefe1212 yes, even if your book has a barcode of its own, you need to cover it with the TAL Product Label. And yes, you can first package it in that and then the product label on the outside of the padded envelope instead.
@@keanenbraaf711 I don’t know much about printers, haha. But if you’re only needing it for the shipping and product labels and the waybill, etc then literally any printer would do. I 100% recommend a Eco refillable cartridge printer though, as the ink is really cheap, you can refill the printer and it lasts a Loooooong time. We use the Epson L1250 as we also use it to print some packaging, thank you cards, etc.

Thanks for the clarity on this. Just finished onboarding, and it's all very overwhelming. Your videos helped a lot. Quick question. About putting your items into boxes. Does this apply to all items. What about bigger items that don't come in a box or can't fit in a box. Or items that are shaped weirdly.
Items need to be able to ship to Takealot safely enough without being damaged. I don’t want to give you wrong information so I would log into your sellers portal, and floating on the right side of your screen will be the help tab. Use the search icon and just type key words like “packaging” in this case, as go through the articles there. It has saved me a few times on specific issues. As takealot does have specific rules for various items (food, glass, etc all have stricter rules). I only sell smaller items so I hope this helps but just don’t want to give false info. 👏🏾

Takealot themselves use Courier Guy for their courier services (mostly as far as I know) so I don’t think it changes much for us in terms of sending stock. 😊
Great video series! Watched your previous one too, and they have helped me so much in understanding the process. Just a question. When you send the shipment with The Courier Guy, do you still add the Courier Guy's barcoded label (Tracking stickers) to the box as you would with any order? Or does this throw it out for takealot? Also, how did you order the CPT & JHB DC stickers from them? Can't seem to find them on the stationery order list.
So glad it’s been a help! 1. Yes, you always need to place the waybill (either regular A4 or their Waybill Sticker you can print) for TCG to track the package and make sure it’s gets to where it needs to. 2. You can just ask the driver for them, maybe take a screenshot of them as reference. They usually have extra roles in the bakkies. Also, I always recommend being super friendly to the Courier Staff. They tend to remember you more and have come in to save the day a few times on last minute pickups.

But videos like these definitely make it less daunting to take the first steps! Fantastic, thank you for all of the feedback! The barcode sticker I am referring to is the one the courier guy provides on the roll. So for a normal shipment to a customer that had 2 boxes, one would have the waybill, and the other box would have the barcode sticker on it with the waybill number written on it. But I get what you are saying, you would still need these stickers anyway on the box, otherwise the courier could misplace the parcel. Just wanted to make sure takealot wouldn't have a problem with another barcode sticker on it? And absolutely agree with being really friendly with the courier guys staff! Hands down the best service from them. Will definitely ask the driver next time for some of those DC stickers.

Another awesome presentation. You mentioned Drop-test, what if you sell something fragile, how is that dealt with ... Thank again ... Totally new to this
Thank you. It would be dealt with The same. Some people don’t recommend you sell fragile items on takealot (because of breakages and returns for ‘damaged goods’). I personally don’t tell similar items but I would make sure they’re well packaged as you package will go through many hands before arriving at your customer. Remember though: The individual items don’t need to be able to survive a 1m drop test. Just the boxes containing your stock being sent have to be.

I followed your video instructions and sent my first shipment to JHB and CPT using courier Guy. However the stock at takelot under my offers on the seller portal for JHB is less than what I sent. Do you perhaps know how and who I can query this with?
Eish. That’s weird! If you’re still new (3months or less) you should have had someone reach out to you to help with on-boarding then You’d be able to email them and query. Just try be sure that you’re 100% you did pack the amount you think. Otherwise if you live in Cpt, it could just be that what you sent hasn’t reflected in the stock yet? But then you would see x amount of stock under the “stock on its way” column.

Roughly R95 to the CPT DC (because I live in CPT) and R135 to JHB DC. But with the Courier Guy Discount we pay around R75 to CPT DC and R115 to JHB DC. We factor in the shipping cost in our COGS and obviously the more items you send at once, the better the shipping price/item ratio becomes.
@@Heisoverthere basically everything up until ‘book delivery’ remains the exact same. You’ll just select ‘drop off’ and you’ll be allocated a specific time slot. I believe it’s a 30min window that you cannot be used late for.
@@DreamJewels-qt1qs you can just Google box/packaging stores near you. There’s usually plenty local suppliers at great prices. If it’s for packing your products into, you can also order boxes from your Courier.

1 would be the minimum. Technically you don’t have to send any if you only sell on Leadtime. In general though, the more you can send the better, as then the shipping price is divided over more items. Also, for all new items you’re only allowed to send 5 to each DC 😊

Can I wrap them individually in bubble wrap, put Barcodes on and pack a few units in a large box? In other words is it necessary to box them individually as well or is it fine if they're just bubble wrapped?
@@EH_Manufacturing thank you so much. If the bubble wrap is neat, sealed well and safe to transport, then it should be fine like that. Just do a couple tests with the 45up labels you’re using to ensure they stick well. Stick some on the bubble wrap and leave it for a couple days to see if it peels off at all. If not, should work well.
I saw you put two different products in one box. I got a question if I have five tiny different products(different bar codes) can I ship them in one box if they fit?
100%. I shipped 7 different products in this video (I just didn’t show them all). As long as they’re all on the Shipping not under the same shipment. 👏🏾

Hi there, I'm a new seller and haven't started shipping yet...I need to know how do I package a product that has a box like an A5 size do I place it into another box or plastic and then place the label on?
@@shevontrisha3074 if the box is sealed well. You can just place the product label directly onto it (converting any barcode). Then you put as many of them as you’re sending all into 1 box (or more) to send to the DC with a shipping label on each.

Just do a couple tests with the 45up labels you’re using to ensure they stick well. Stick some on the bubble wrap and leave it for a couple days to see if it peels off at all.
If not, should work well.
I saw you put two different products in one box. I got a question if I have five tiny different products(different bar codes) can I ship them in one box if they fit?
100%. I shipped 7 different products in this video (I just didn’t show them all). As long as they’re all on the Shipping not under the same shipment. 👏🏾

Hi there, I'm a new seller and haven't started shipping yet...I need to know how do I package a product that has a box like an A5 size do I place it into another box or plastic and then place the label on?
@@shevontrisha3074 if the box is sealed well. You can just place the product label directly onto it (converting any barcode). Then you put as many of them as you’re sending all into 1 box (or more) to send to the DC with a shipping label on each.

@@tsheposeboko6673 hey. Whenever you send something via a courier, you need a waybill number, which essentially is an ID # for your package for tracking, etc etc.
