Absolutely ludicrous fees. For any startup, it is a killer. In addition, they might even list your supplier's products at your cost price. This is applicable if your supplier is South African-based.
this only makes sense if the fees are contrasted with costs of doing it yourself. You will still need storage, marketing, fulfillment costs etc. As it is now it is made as if the business would not be incurring these costs if it wasnt of take a lot, misleading i think.
Hi Andrew, what software would you recommend for managing stock and sales, from point importing to sales on takealot? Do you recommend IQ retail sales?
I heard alot of stock goes missing at the warehouse and its your problem to sort out and that the fight can last month's? And that seller support is non existent?
I faced that some months back in May, they lost my stock of about 40 products and it was a hustle to get reimbursed for that lost stock. Only got reimbursed in October and they still charged me success fees and fulfilment fees even though that stock had not been bought. I decided to take the reimbursement rather than keep fighting as I was really tired of the fight with them
@@2FreshNash 100% ,WE LOST TOO MANY STOCK WITH THEM, WITH NO REASON. SO MANY DAMAGE STOCK BACK TO US . THIS IS WHAT THEY DO, THEY DONT CARE SELLER. SO IF U WANT SELLING ON TAKEALOTS. START WITH READY FOR LOSE.!!!
Nice video.... so if we store on takealot do we still have to pay delivery fees? Also if takealot charge the customer delivery fees do we also have to pay?
Takealot charges way too much fees! We are forced to inflate our prices a lot just so we can make a profit. The customer suffers by paying high prices for items, and we dont benefit as those large profits don't even come to us. Takealot is the greedy middle man that is eating all the profits. In this state if economy where most south Africans are living hand to mouth, we do not need to be ripped off by large companies. I wish there were a smaller scale competitor company to takealot that charged reasonable fees. Takealot is running the monopoly and really needs a competitor! I cant wait for the launch of Amazon next year.
Hey man, this video is VERY informative however I am concerned about the subscription Fee which you mentioned is R460.00, because I have went onto the site and found that it states it is R400.00. Is there some type of hidden R60.00 which is not mentioned when signing up as a seller?
Takealot is one of the companies that complain about red tape by government and regulators. But they're also imposing red tape on small businesses through their insane costs.
Always nice to support the local suppliers as well 😀
Absolutely!
Informative thanks.
A bit disheartening with the takealot fee structure.
Technically one is working for takealot in essence. 😏
What does the subscription fee cover if it doesn't cover administrative things of the platform.
this is so helpful oh my gosh I think I've watched all your videos! :D
Thank you!
Absolutely ludicrous fees. For any startup, it is a killer. In addition, they might even list your supplier's products at your cost price. This is applicable if your supplier is South African-based.
That's why it's called Takealot!
Robbery

Yeah loads go missing. You can claim, but it's quite complicated.

Yes you still have to pay delivery fees.
No, the customer doesn't pay for shipping.
You have to include these in your costs.
OFF TOPIC, How did you create Your name in That font ?
There are a few apps that you can use for about 5 usd
I think Canva also has that font, in slightly different variations. Check fonts Amsterdam One to Four.
Sounds like a super crap way to sell stuff if you're a small business.
important information, was not aware

I hope that Amazon takes much better care of its sellers. TakeAlot needs competition
Hi Andrew… do you know if there is a way to see how many views my products are getting on takeLot?
Yup I do think you can generate some of this info manually with a CSV report.

I think it's all quoted excluding VAT.
