  • In this video, Andrew discusses the pros and cons of selling products on your own website versus selling on Takealot, an e-commerce platform in South Africa. The pros of selling on Takealot include their reputation and ability to handle fulfillment and returns, as well as the ability to infinitely scale. On the other hand, selling on your own website allows for more control over your brand and customers. However, it requires more work in terms of packing and delivering orders, negotiating courier rates, and dealing with policies and security. Andrew recommends choosing one platform rather than trying to do both, and suggests that it is necessary to be on Takealot in the e-commerce space.

I understand that in order to be accepted by Takealot you have to already have an online shop (or brick n mortar) otherwise they won't accept your application. Is this true?

I know hey 😪. I didn't mention but I started with my own store and when I was doing about 20 to 30 orders a day I started on takealot.
