Silly, please understand you can only get the mouse for 30 if you buy wholesale meaning you buy like 10 or more items. So you spend R300 on 10 wireless mouses that works out to R30 each. If your dumb self went to China mall and bought 1 mouse it's retail price is R79. The concept of wholesale Vs retail is simple. I know you thought you were smart but today you found out you don't understand something a 10 year old would know. Good luck in life bruh. You gonna need it.

Thank You! Honestly, returns are quite annoying. Takealot doesn't give the option to replace the customers product, instead they refund immediately.
So when I get a return (which is quite rare because I make sure my products have decent quality), i just let takealot dispose it because its not worth the time and money to get the one product back
@@The_SuccessEquation So you would have to have some sort of reserved funds available in your Takealot account that they could deduct from when a customer does a return? So technically a client could return an item within a 6 month period for whatever reason and be awarded the full purchase price since you aren't allowed to do a replacement? Chinese products are generally mass produced and of inferior quality. I don't think they would last for 3 months let alone 6! This would mean a seller would be stuck in a perpetual loop of refunding clients and this does not make business sense. I take it that repairs are out of the question since replacement parts and labour can get quite pricey. I guess the only solution would be some sort of hedging that the seller could do, probably buy some good quality products and sell them alongside the cheaper ones but then again a newbie would need money and some solid selling experience to be able to do that.

Let's not make a mistake, Takealot surely "Sellalot", but the cost of warehousing and shipping etc. is an extra that is passed onto the consumer - Takealot is NOT cheap and the seller is paying extra for the benefit of a National market!
From what you said above it would seem that the seller is in for another surprize when there are breakages & refunds involved?
I work for online company which we also send items into take alot so my boss actually doing what you do but with thousands and tjousands of products i want to know where do you even take your first step if you want to sell on take alot ? 🤔

1 - > R460 pm + 15% - 30% of selling price (may be high but their organic traffic is worth it)
3 -> Basically just fuel since I dropped everything by myself, so lets estimate R100 per drop-off
4 -> Returns honestly suck so if I ever do get them (which is rare since i sell quality products) I just let Takealot dispose even though they allow you to fetch it.

1. The only way would be through a courier affiliated with Takealot (they have discounted fees)
2. Only distribution centers can be used, theres one in Kempton Park (JHB) and another in Cape Town

Esentialy the service that takelot is providing is convenience, lazyness and ease of access. Yes you can get al those same products for cheaper but at what costs. Who wants to drive up in down inbetween china malls and supliers just to get a headset for half the price after spending hours driving and searching its not even worth it. But with takelot etc. You can sit back and relax while browsing everything you could posibly need for a few bucks more.
As a previous seller, there "hidden fees" not mentioned here like your shipping to takealot (if you don't do it), storage fees, takealot commissions which vary per category, maybe there even more now. Selling on this platform is a volume game. Returns were a mess back then, not to mention sometimes you get a returned product not in original condition and you have to sell an open box with items missing or just write it off. The policies benefit the buyer not the seller.
Takealot does have a darkside to it but there are workarounds to everything.

Takealot just allowed private sellers to start selling, so all you need is your ID, but for tax purposes I would suggest registering a business (I made a video on the easiest way to do this on my channel).

I have been meaning on selling art prints on Takealot since I am good at art although the things I see on Takealot are very discouraging, There are a lot of people who make great art on Takealot but don't look like they get a lot of sales (based on an assumption that there will be about 2 or 0 reviews) Those are for the sellers who charge R700 upwards. I then encountered a seller who makes sales but charges it at R300 and the reviews are positive about the art quality. I am uncertain about selling on Takealot.
It's better than just sitting and making no money
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times.
78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways.

Not necessarily, Takealot has a lot of sellers and official companies selling on their platform. Your local china town won't have everything you might see on Takealot as a lot of people ship in products from the real china and other places

You mentioned barcoding your own products, may I ask how you did this?
Once the product is accepted by takealot they give you an option to download barcodes from their seller portal. You can print these onto 45 UP labels (which can be bought from any stationary store or takealot) and simply peel the barcode and place it over the existing barcode of the product.

Currently working on a video that covers every single step of the process. There are no "masterclasses" needed in order to get approved, but once your application to be a seller is accepted they want you to do an "Onboarding" which is just a bunch of videos that teach you about their policies and how the whole thing works

I don't think any business can cut 55% profit on such small quantities. That's just absurd.
Then there's subscription fees, warehousing/storage fees, delivery fees, seasonal fees, and penalties for late deliveries if not warehoused. I'm not sure how a seller can ignore logistics and check every few weeks. You will have penalties for missed orders. Take the risk into account, because you could end up paying takealot quite alot whilst still taking a knock on your stock because you either have to sell below your profit margin or you pay for storage, and either way, takealot gets their fat % of your sale.
What if you add returns into the mix? Money has to go back, and you have a second hand or damaged item. China town is not going to have manufacturer warranties or returns either. You need cash flow to carry the risk over a period of time.
More sellers = more subscriptions/storage/penalties/success fees
You can feed the monopoly, or you can get your own website way cheaper

But recently I've been using the ads to boost sales

hey i actually have a takelot seller account,I've only managed to send one batch of products to the Capetown Takealot DC but as a teenager i dont think the money i have right now(R1,5k)is close to enough to keep on going so i just stopped completely,so now i have a seller account with 1 Batch of product that hasn't sold for 3-4 months,do you have any advice on making this business model work with a below 2k budget?

It definitely can work work! It all depends on the products you sell tho, obviously there are other ways to boost sales but just make sure that people are not competing with you and "stealing" your sales.
The other important aspect is reinvesting all of your money back into the purchasing of products etc.
