The Subaru wilderness is definitely a capable off-roader but if you bought the car thinking you can scale rock walls with it. I mean that's on you man 😂
These are great all weather cars. Obviously not for rock crawling or anything needing low range. They'll definitely handle more than you'd think, but every platform has its limitations. I'd take one in a second.
My 15' outback is a great car, a demon in the snow and on the dirt roads to my camp! sorry these cars aren't for off roading! This is my 2nd Subaru never had any problems with the transmission on either one, CVT is not made for serious off roading!
I'll never get why people compare a vehicle like this to a Jeep. It's like comparing shoes to skates. Different purposes. But considering how many who own Jeeps NEVER get them in to the environment they're designed for, and just burn money with fuel, the Wilderness is a no brainer. It eats up fire roads, handles great in the snow but is still a vehicle that people get their money's worth with around town. I'm in a mountain town and Subies rule for locals. It's the visitors in their decked out Jeeps that see dirt once a year who get the point and laugh.
I live in a mountain area. Extreme hot summers, cold snowy winters, slimy falls, mud, dirt road, and asfalt, eventually motorways. If you want your job done, you need something like a Subie, a Duster, or a Toyota Hilux (the older the better). On the Sundays, fancy Jeep Wranglers appear to "offorad" on pre-designed tracks. On the Sundays, clad in mud, they have the pride cruise downtown, and ganging on pumpstations. And they pay all that money for it. Funny city folks they are.
Subaru knocked this out the park! However, like you said at 9:32, this cannot compare to let’s say my Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. For most consumers, this will complete the mall crawl. Doubt many owners of this will be needing to drive across 24” high waters. Jeep, there’s only one. 😅
I've been a long-time Subaru owner, but recently "jumped ship" due to the CVT on the Outback Wilderness. It's just such a poor match to the advertised capabilities of the trim and continued to let me down on some mild-to-moderate trails here in the southern Appalachians. My wife still has a Crosstrek, but unless/until Subaru goes to a traditional automatic transmission, it won't be for me.
Yeah I don't know man an Outback wilderness should have no problems on mild to moderate trails. Either there was something wrong with yours or maybe driver error. I do find a lot of people don't know or really understand how x mode works on Subarus.
@ I get why you think that… perhaps it’s more accurate to say that a CVT has to work harder/differently to achieve the same results as a regular transmission. I had a 2005 4 speed Forester XT that never “struggled” on those trails. But the OBW’s CVT had to think quite hard (in conjunction with the X-Mode) to get through.
Unibody, poor headroom for tall people, CVT, dependent upon clutches, brakes and software. 2024 did not even come with navigation. Dealers don't deal. Can't believe Ben used this title.
You must be blind because the thumbnail clearly shows his long hair slicked back. Secondly, your RUclips recommends must be tweaking because this King reviews cars. If you are looking for look books to crave your sweet tooth, seek elsewhere.
Finally a car that's not overpriced and worth buying over all.
Not if you value your life
@i6power30 no subarus are the best and safe too the 2024 impreza has scored 4 and 5stars.
Dude, there's a black friday sale on birkenstocks waiting for you to scoop em.
Great Video!
My mom and her bestie Deb are going to love this car. They always go camping when my dad is out of town on business.
What a comment
Deb is my mom and we've been wondering where she goes on long weekends. Please tell her that her children love her and miss her.
They clearly must buy an Outback.
@@MuniTechnology Nothing like bareback in the Outback.

I love these “eating jeeps for breakfast” videos! The trolling is genius.
RIP Jeep. This Subi is the ultimate Bronco ki!!er.

That color is really sick
I got a limited in this color. It's amazing how much it changes depending on light conditions.
If only this could keep up with a Jeep
There's really nothing wrong with the 2.0L,zero issues with my '19 Trek
For the 2025 model year, is Subaru still using the "TCV" Thermal control valve or did they move back to the mechanical thermostat?
like that better then a Rav4 Sexy Subaru😍🥰🤩
Ben loves trolling Jeep owners!
Is the steering wheel heated?
Honestly, The instrument cluster needs to change.. It’s been the same ever since.. I expect a fully digital instrument cluster at this point.
Subaru built a awesome car like the color
They really need to bring back a Manuel Transmission
I use a steam cleaner to clean perforated leather seats.
I can get a 2 door Willys and have more Fun Parallel and Perpendicular to this hot hatch.
my dream ride
I’d buy one except for the problem with the Thermal Control Valve.
That problem has bee solved for the 2025 models. Subaru went back to the old style of the thermal control valve which is a simpler unit made of metal.
Thank you@@windjammerjohn
somebody got too cute with the fenders
It does eat Jeeps when it comes to gas mileage but its not trail worthy like some Jeeps are.
Does it have any taste for them TRD Toyotas?! :)
I’ve driven a limited but not a Wilderness
Did he say 182hp?
@@kburton531 so it's enough for day to day.
I will stick with our 2022 Cherokee Limited w/271 hp thank you.
Yes but a cvt has less parasitic loss and puts the power down better. These also have great low end torque.

Doesn’t touch a Jeep. AWD is now ticketed in National Parks and Forests.

The CVT transmission is what prevented me from buying a Subaru.

They need to stop with the nasty black plastic!!!
A regular CrossTreck can drive down a snowy/dirt road frankly. I would not pay extra for these “wilderness “ badges. 😂
Can't tow shit with a regular Crosstrek.
@ can tow crap with this.
Significantly more clearance and power than the base model.
@@magnoliap5824 Way higher towing capacity than a 2 door Wrangler and the same as a four door.
@@magnoliap5824 3500 lbs vs 1500 lbs yeah right 🤡
Used to love Subarus but the wacky styling has killed my interest in the brand.
Yeah, Subaru's always been like that and they'll probably never change. That's what makes Subaru a Subaru lol.
bro what is this title 😭 like can u be fr
👍🏻👍🏻
The body cladding is very, very bad. That and the CVT are deal breakers for me.
I agree! Too gawdy. Besides that looks like a nice car
No doubt they’re capable, cute soft roaders but I wouldn’t trade my 2004 Sequoia Limited 4wd for any Wilderness. And I own a 2022 WRX.

@arsnb9m907 bro subarus are awesome, value for money and have the most features and a bigger screen compared to a overpriced toyota.
Not sure how the smaller cross gets worse mileage than the bigger Outback.
@Coldpack13 I mean anyways I would buy a forester over crosstrek just bigger car
I got the outback wilderness and I'll take it anyway over a jeep who's bottom rusts away in a year and costs as much as a lexus..
@@Coldpack13double the towing as the normal 2.5 outback and gear ratios are much different
Hey Subaru, nice Crosstrek , but where's the turbo man ?!
@@henryi9738 no need for turbo
