Its just amazing when i see folks from this generation see Alan Rickman and immediately say Harry Potter. For me and my generation, it was Hans Gruber playing Snape in Harry Potter.
You damn right he’s Hans Gruber first and foremost!
No, he's Dr. Lazarus! By Grabthar's Hammer, what a savings!
Hans Gruber and Nottingham for me.
He is, and will forever be, Hans Gruber.
However, I think we should all just be happy that we got to watch him play ANY ROLE, because Alan Rickman was a treasure... a gift to Acting and to us.
So many iconic roles, great performances...
Great Man. Great Actor.
RIP Alan Rickman
For me I immediately think Robin Hood.
"That was so close". The stunt in the elevator shaft was an accident they kept in the film as the stunt an missed to shaft. He wasn't hurt but it added that element of, 'this hero isn't a perfect God, just a regular guy who finds himself in extraordinary circumstances :)
Similar thing with Han's expression when he falls at the end. They told Rickman they drop him on the count of three... and then dropped him on one. Hell of a performance for Rickman's very first movie :)
I'm sorry, but I you're wrong. Saying "Rickman's very first movie" anyone would think it was his first performance, and it was far, far from it. Rickman had already performed in more than a dozen plays over a decade, and had also starred in two TV miniseries. Even if you think only of movies, his performance in "Die Hard" had not been his first. He had already acted in two films before, with a modest budget, which were broadcast directly on TV. So in 1988 he was already a well-known actor in theater, and also experienced before the cameras. "Die Hard" was, quite simply, his first appearance in a big-budget movie, in a blockbuster.
I remember vividly the night my dad rented this on VHS. The night it was released he knew it would be rented at all of the video stores. So we went to a camera store and it turns out they rented videos but it was the best kept secret in town. We rented Die Hard and got a couple of pints of ice cream. I was 11 years old and it was a hell of a night.
For your generation, he is Snape. For my generation, Alan Rickman was always Hans Gruber.
He was amazing, elevated meh and bad movies with his presence.
Elevated good movies too!
or the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of thieves.
0:34 Can confirm: This IS a Christmas movie. 5:56 Bonus points to Lia for recognizing Alan Rickman.
100% a Christmas movie ^_^
@@smashbrandiscootch719 I mean, it even snows bearer bonds at the end.... Doesn't get more Christmas than that.
But really, the Christmas theme of the movie is a separated family trying to spend Christmas together and the hurdles they have to overcome to do so.
RUclips says you posted this two weeks ago. lol RIP Alan Rickman - I also remember him from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
@Move_I_Got_This Well you and Bruce Willis are both wrong. Just because he was in the movie doesn't mean his opinion of it is valid. He'll, everyone who made Morbius thought it was a good movie and they were clearly wrong. Just like Bruce Willis is wrong about die hard not being a Christmas movie because it absolutely is. A movie doesn't have to be released around Christmas in order to he a Christmas movie. Who tf made that rule?
@Move_I_Got_This with that logic, none of the home alone movies ( which are regarded as Christmas movies ) are not Christmas movies…
Whether this is a Christmas movie depends on your definition. It is not about Christmas, but it does take place during and at a Christmas party with Christmas themes woven into the story and especially the music. That’s good enough for me.
I mean it's a estranged man reconnecting with his family, you have a nice redemption story all things you would normally find in a Christmas film, it's just wrapped in an nice dose of explosions and gun fire.
Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman made this movie an absolute classic.
Yes they did they carried this whole movie.🪦 Alan Rickman you were a legend.
Really cool to see young people enjoying films from 30, 40 or 50 years ago, and especially with such an amount of energy that Die Hard is
Are we really that old? 😥
If you guys want to see more of Alan Rickman, I would suggest Quigley Down Under as one of his hidden gems.
Along with Tom Selleck and the beautiful Laura San Giacomo (other movies: Pretty Woman, Sex Lies & Videotape ... and played Maya Gallo on the NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me!). What a great movie !!!
Fun Fact: This is Alan Rickman first movie in his entire life. Also Bonnie Bedelia (Holly) is also Macaulay Culkin's Aunt & Reginald VelJohnson play as Carl Winslow in a comedy show Family Matters.
I'm sorry, but I you're wrong. Anyone would think it was his first performance, and it was far, far from it. Rickman had already performed in more than a dozen theater plays over a decade, and had also starred in two TV miniseries. 7:11 Karl and Theo exchange what looks like a ten dollar note, indicating they had a side bet going on as to whether Hans would end up killing Takagi.
You guys are on a roll with these movies lately!! Definitely have to watch die hard 2 and Die hard with a vengeance(my favorite out of all of them)
In addition: I’m so glad that more people are enjoying Bruce Willis movies, as his illness has forced him into retiring from acting ever again 😔
I saw Die Hard opening week while in college, late show with the theatre completely packed. I'll never forget how fun that was, everyone was really into the movie yelling at the bad guys and gasping during the intense action scenes...and the groans when Willis is pulling glass out of his feet hahaha.
RIP Alan Rickman. Quite an epic action Christmas movie 🎄
Alan Rickman has delivered one of the greatest cinematic villain of all time.
This was his first onscreen role, in fact.
@@isaackellogg3493 I know right, he truly nail his first ever onscreen role as movie actor even I was surprise when learning about it last year.
@@TheImaginator972 Umm, he was a stage actor for many years.
Definitely one of the greatest action movie of the entire decades, I was so glad to see DIE HARD since last holiday season.
39:16 - 39:25 "And how they have lights?" "I don't know the word."
Word is Auxiliary Power, Backup Power, or Emergency Power. Automatic power source isolated from city electrical grid, local to a single building.
Fun Fact, ladies: When Hans falls to his death, his reaction was real because they dropped him at the moment when he wasn’t expecting it.
Glad you liked it! 👍
DieHard IS a Christmas movie.
Killing bad guys before opening presents is what we do, IN AMERICA!!! 😁
and for the record, we all saw the police as stupid as Deputy Chief Dwayne Robertson. 😊 But in our defense , most of them actually were that dumb, back then. 😁
Keep on keeping on! You do great reactions!!! 👍
😂 Hell yeah.
What about now ?? They still dump as Fu**k??
Viki, you’re so cute doubting this is a Christmas movie in the beginning, then by the end saying “It’s a Christmas movie”. You got that right. I loved seeing Blue and then Ellie & Michelle react to this classic and it was wonderful to see you both experience this too. Loved this from you both. Thank You Lia & Viki.
Great job Lia knowing Alan Rickman but did you know this was his first movie. Not a bad debut if I say so myself
Die Hard became the quintessential action movie when future action movies were pitched to Hollywood Studios, Die Hard became a common template
3:27 if he only thought of himself like you are saying she should only think of herself, then the movie would have been much shorter because he would have left and gone back home rather than nearly dying several times to save her life.
EDIT: to clarify... it is my opinion that they both have good points and neither one is completely correct.
Marriage is complicated, yes. She may have been in a hurry but he felt obligated to tie up loose ends.
Make sure you watch the second one at Christmastime! 🎄
This movie caught everyone off guard. First, it was actually a great movie....and secondly, this made Bruce Willis a bona fide action star.
He was made popular by a tv show called "Moonlighting" where he played a private investigator.
But when THIS came out, he shot straight to being the new "A-list", Hollywood "hot guy". He has quite the film resume' that's definitely worth checking out.
Glad we were able to convert two new people to: "YES, this IS a Christmas movie"
Other Christmas movies like this are Gremlins and Lethal Weapon. This was director John Mctiernan's follow-up to Predator
If you girls love Alan Rickman so much, you should watch Robin Hood with Kevin Costner. He did an amazing job as the villain in that film too.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
It's a Christmas movie.... The day was saved with Christmas tape. Debate over 😂
I can’t wait to celebrate Christmas 🎄 this year ; great videos suggestion homies 👏🏻👏🏻♥️
9:40 If you ever wondered what that little hole in the upper corner of an elevator door, that is what he's doing from the back side. The hole is to allow a key to turn the door lock that he's pushing on from the bottom.
Not only is Die Hard a Christmas movie, it's the greatest Christmas movie ever made.
15:25 "Boom... Come on BOOM" Dam Lia is bloodthirsty
Yes Lia, Hans Gruber and Snape are played by the same actor...Alan Rickman RIP
This was one of my best theater experiences. One of the biggest cheers I've ever heard an audience give was when Al Powell shot Karl. My name is Karl, by the way, lol
I love at the start when you guys said it wasn’t a Xmas film, then by the end you’d been converted ❤️❤️
You girls are so much fun! I'm so happy that your on team "Christmas movie" for this one. As they say... "it isn't Christmas until Hans Grubber falls off Nakatomi Plaza". Lol
Lia needs a shirt that just says *”Boom.”*
the great Alan Rickman created an anthology character with his Hans Gruber. As a fact, in the scene when he falls from the building, the face he makes is truly frightened because they didn't tell him that he was falling behind the scenes. This movie is still entertaining to watch and is always shown on TV at Christmas.
It's not a joke. It's literally a Christmas movie. It takes place at Christmas, it has Christmas decorations and music, and people watch it every year at Christmas time. It's a Christmas movie.
If I had just one wish....... to watch just one movie with Viki.
It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from the Nakatomi Tower.
Fun fact: Nakatomi Plaza was at the time was the new headquarters of 20th Century Fox (now owned by Disney - yes, Die Hard is now a Disney property!)
It´s not Christmas until you see Hans Gruber fall from Nakatomi Tower.
Hello Lia and Viki!
Very nice Reaction-Video and btw. Lia you pronounced the German words "Nein" and "Achtung" very good!
My Generation Alan Rickman was The Sheriff of Nottingham, in Robin Hood Prince of thieves. Should definitely check that out Ladies.
Yes, he was brilliant in that.
Hope you guys check out the rest and maybe the “Lethal Weapon” series, all have the same-ish humor & heart
The ultimate Thanksgiving movie is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
The ultimate Christmas movie is Die Hard.
I have spoken.
I remember the first time I watched this. It was on vhs. I got the movie with a few others for a penny with Columbia House. It’s a club back in the 80s and 90s that would give you many movies for a penny. They should bring back sthg like that.
It's not a Christmas movie. It's a movie that takes place during Christmas. Can't see why that's so hard to understand !
You guys are smashing out these videos I can't keep up!😅good work girls
Fun Fact: This is Bruce Willis. He was a good actor many years ago.
Well done girls another classic please watch die hard 2 and die hard with a vengeance and die hard 4.0
I am thrilled you got started on the huge series of Die Hard movies as there is 5 of them. But there was a LOT of time where only the two of you could watch and see what was happening. I was only able to watch and listen to you two. 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠💓💓😊😊
Thank you for saying it's a Christmas movie. My thoughts exactly. It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off the Natomic building.
People, you see? These beautiful women, watching this movie for the first time, says the same.
John's wife is named Holly, it happens on Christmas eve, Christmas is mentioned a lot of times throughout the entire movie and Christmas music is played as well. So forget about it, it's only an action, thriller movie that just happened during Christmas. No one can compare this movie to Lethol Weapon either. Fact
Leah is all that and even more! My favorite!
Make sure You watch Die Hard wih a Vengence. Another great movie with Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson
If you are Alan Rickman fans, you MUST watch "Galaxy Quest." You will love it.
Another great classic movie for you to judge. Christmas movie or not a Christmas movie, Lethal Weapon.
Very, very good reaction!! One of the best action movies ever!! I am so glad you both enjoyed it, and I totally agree, Die Hard, IS A Christmas movie!! Hope you will continue with the Die Hard stories, can't wait to see more, and watch along with you, thanks again ladies!!...👍👍👍
Great reaction, I love it!
I have three recommendations for you guys (if you haven't seen already)
1. Unbreakable
2. Split
3. Glass
All movies courtesy from M. Night Shyamalan, same director of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs"
For me, the first one is the best movie on his filmography and a grat performace by Bruce Willis. 😏👌🏼
By the way, Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie. And yes. It’s true. Why? Because it takes place on Christmas. And the hero gets a Christmas miracle and saves the day. 🤣🤣🤣🎄
And all the 'bad little boys' end up 'getting coal in their stockings' (or something like that!).
There are only two types of people out there: Those who *know* Die Hard is a Christmas movie and those who are wrong. XD lol
I miss the 80s.
The singalong at the end made me wonder if there's not a Christmas song from you guys in the future...
On my must watch list every Christmas. Best Christmas movie ever. Now you have to watch Die Hard 2, also a Christmas movie...
The ways this is a Christmas movie:
1) Family member trying to reunite with family for Christmas. (John McClain flying to L.A. to be with wife and children.)
2) Unusual food in many Christmas movies. (1000 year old twinkie.)
3) Christmas miracle. (FBI cutting a circuit that "cannot be cut.")
4) Snow (The paper falling in the last scene.)
5) Christmas songs from beginning to end.
Probably more but that's all that I've spotted.
This absolutely IS a Christmas movie.
Why does nobody understand? John can't just go around killing the 'bad guys' just because it's convenient; unless they are committing a violent act against someone, or at least directly threatening someone - he can't kill them (or even just shoot them!) [One of my pet peeves about too many 'shoot-em-up' action movies ... cops shooting somebody just because it seems like it might not be a bad idea! This contributes to people thinking that not only is it OK ... but that this is the way cops work!😳🙄]
Time to watch the other movies in the series! The quality varies from movie to movie; the second-best one is where the hackers are trying to break into the secret government computer complex. *Tons* of action, lots of explosions, some _seriously_ *great* comedy-lines, plenty of suspense, and it even has a really cool romance (sort of) sub-plot between John's daughter (who also has some very cool comedy-lines!) and a hacker-guy who's helping him with the technical stuff. If you like to jeer/anti-cheer the really nasty 'bad-guys' ... that one is for you!
*Enjoy!*
the Blonde is Alexander Goodenov famous Russian ballet dancer and died of acute alcoholism
I am really glad you guys got to see this it is awesome
Not a joke it is one of the best Christmas movies
First time watching your show.Hard to believe there are people who never seen Die Hard🤭 Now your gonna have to see Die Hard2 , 3 ,4 and maybe 5. Love your reactions.lol💓🇬🇧
Great reaction can wait for yall to react to the others they are awesome also
Let me add my voice.. this IS a Christmas movie.
"Just support her".
That's what he was doing; supporting his family like a man is supposed to, until she got a bug up her butt to travel 3,000 miles, turning her parenting duties over to an illegal alien (nice thing for the wife of a COP to do), because she wanted to change course and become a corporate officer.
She's lucky. I'd have sued her for custody of the chiildren citing unfit parenting, and then told her to enjoy her cats.
If this whets your appetite for more action films involving heists and hostages and quotable dialogue, there are two excellent films from 1974 worth reacting to - JUGGERNAUT with Richard Harris (who was Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films) and the original THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE with Robert Shaw (who was Captain Quint in JAWS).
These two movies that you can watch and make movie reaction :
1.The Raid : Redemption
2.The Raid 2
wonderful reaction, and I'm glad you had a chance to watch this amazing movie! it's a true classic, and to those of us of my generation who saw this come out in the theaters when we were young, it will always be a Christmas movie! much like the original Lethal Weapon movie, which is another one you should watch if you haven't already.
For an off theme Thanksgiving (American Holiday) movie there is always Alices Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie. The motion picture about the 18 minute Song from 1967. I just looked and it is a free RUclips movie. I would suggest that you listen to the song before you watch the movie
You ladies will love Die Hard 2...Terrorists take over LA airport on--Christmas Eve, and the action/fights/explosions are even better!
Now, when you watch Brooklyn 99,you'll get all the main characters Die Hard references :)
“Not a Christmas movie,” President Obama 🎉
🌹🌹 Ladies, beautiful reaction!
The Last of the Mohicans (1992) is one of the best movies ever made! Trust me, it's a gem among movies!
I wish you a beautiful evening from Slovakia ... 🌹🌹
🎄🎅This IS a Christmas movie.
It's a hard debate whether this considered a "Christmas movie" since it has nothing to do with except the weather! And a few decorations
it's not a joke, it's a fact!! best christmas movie of all time! "now i have a machine gun HO HO HO!"
mother movie you might like with Alan Rickman is Robin Hood-Prince of Thieves. He plays the Sheriff of Nottingham
you girls need to watch the rest of the franchise, it is awesome.
Lia you always have the best reactions.
You said this isn't a Christmas movie. How can you say its not? It isn't even disputable. It takes place on Christmas eve. During a Christmas party. And has Christmas music. Anyone who says it isn't is purposely wearing blinders so they don't have to admit they are dead wrong. This is not an opinion. It's backed up with rock solid undeniable facts
Great reaction to this classic Christmas action movie.
What part of the world are you ladies from? I just love the accents
Bulgaria ... yeah, love the accents!
One of my favorite Christmas movies!!!
The Perfect Film
Must watch parts two and three
Viki and Lia doing all the videos lately, are the others on vacation? 😉
It’s an age old debate. Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? This question has even been presented to Batak Obama, so you know people have put serious thought into this.
Hi ladies. You should watch the movie "Perfume: The story of a murderer" a 2006 period psychological thriller film directed by Tom Tykwer and starring Ben Whishaw, Alan Rickman.
In all seriousness though, thanks for doing this reaction...love this movie and love you guys
I realize we are talking movie which means some suspended logic some😆😆. Still seeing where they tried to run the armored carrier up the railed building stairs still gets me every time. I mean there was no way that thing was going to ever going to be able to get up those stairs the way it looked as being get caught on the railing as in exactly did. Tactical a pretty stupid choice trying it that way
My favorite Christmas movie. Yippie Ki-Yay girls 🤠
