When they were landing the helicopter, Grant had two female ends of the seat belt, but still found a way to make it work. The dinosaurs were all female, but life still found a way to make it work.
Even if they used lizard DNA instead if frog, there's evidence most lizards can reproduce through parthenogenesis, ie, the females lay eggs with clones of themselves.
This is still one of my all time favorite movies. Nothing gets me in the feels like the first time Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler see a living Brachiosaurus in person combined with John Williams score which just captures the magic of that moment. I noticed many years later that the scene with the T-Rex escaping the padock was done without music, just the sound of the rain. A good iconic scene that holds its own to this day.
I saw this movie on opening day with my mother and sister. The line was stretched all the way into the parking lot. We sat right under the speakers and thought we'd go deaf from the T-Rex roar. To this day, my mother still can't breathe during the kitchen scene
About the raptors being able to open doors...that particular handle setup does make it extremely believable. Many a cat (and even dog!) owner can attest to the fact that animals can figure out handles that just need to be pulled downward. Whether they would figure it out so quickly is debatable, but we don't know how many doors they've dealt with today so they might have experience.
I saw this opening weekend with my cousins in Ottawa, in the first row of a sold out theatre. The TRex scene was terrifying looking up at a bigger than life dinosaur on the big screen with the sound cranked up in the theatre :)
What is also amazing ladies is while Spielberg was making this film he did a lot of the direction from Poland where he was doing production work for another small movie he was working on at the time Schindler's List. Imagine the hours he must have put in to make two blockbuster movies of such different types at the same time.
George Lucas was doing a lot of the post-production legwork for Spielberg. Spielberg mostly worked with Michael Kahn and John Williams to edit and score the movie remotely but most of everything else was George Lucas supervising his companies ILM & Skywalker Sound to get the work done for Steven (like the foley, sound production & editing and obviously the VFX).
Fun Fact: Sam Neill (Dr. Grant) was considered to play Indiana Jones. Wearing the hat when we first see him reminded me of that. And Harrison Ford, who plays Indiana Jones, was considered for the role of Dr. Grant! You girls NEED to watch the Indiana Jones series, also directed by Spielberg! The final one comes out June 2023.
Wow, Vicki appears to be a real dino-fan! Her first glimpse of the dinos, she looked like she just wanted to dive in there! I feel kinda sorry for Hammond, 'cause all he really wanted to do was put together something amazing for people (especially kids) to be able to come and see/experience. But at the same time, he was short-sighted in two ways - [1] it *never* occurred to him that others (both his competitors, *and* his 'own people') might do things to both under-cut him, and to 'jump ahead' of him. And [2] he obviously should have had 'disaster preparedness' folks advising him *from the start,* to help him avoid over-reliance on complicated technical systems, and to prepare 'fall-backs' for both the Park's systems *and* for easily utilizable shelters & emergency movement-options for guests/staff (including training/access for a *wide* variety of survival-tools, for staffers).
Amazing reaction guys love that Viki is really into dinosaurs and how visibly excited she is😄 they didn't change the weather though hehe there was a storm headed for the island but i know you guys would think that. P.s love that you both did trex arms😂
15:28: No, they *can’t* control the weather in Jurassic Park. In fact, during filming in Hawaii, the cast and crew were sheltered in a hotel during a very severe hurricane. In the film, they have a report that a storm is coming.
This and its immediate sequel were adapted from the Michael Chrichton novels of the same name. This and Terminator 2 helped change visual effects in movies. After this are four more films, a short film titled Battle at Big Rock, and a Netflix animated series titled Camp Cretaceous
Kauai Island Manawaiopuna Falls - Hawaii's Famous Jurassic Park Falls The iconic helicopter scene was Manawaiopuna Falls (otherwise now known as Jurassic Falls) on Kauai Island in Hawaii. They did have to shelter from a hurricane during filming.

The Tyrannosaurus rex is my favorite of all the Jurassic Park dinosaurs. I REALLY love how they used sounds made by modern animals. Dilophosaurus: hawk, swan, howler monkey and rattlesnake Brachiosaurus: cow Raptors: walrus chest roar and dolphin scream underwater Tyrannosaurus rex: dog playing with a rope toy and various elephant sounds

7:02 "This is super cool for this year"... One of the many almost supernatural virtues that make Steven Spielberg one of the best directors in history, is that he is so great that, from almost anything , like this overrated novel by Michael Crichton (I'm not saying that Crichton is a bad writer, he has written marvels like "Sphere" or above all "The great train robbery", a novel that I highly recommend reading), Spielberg manages to make an enormous work of art , a wonderful movie that never gets old. And when he teams up with John Williams on top of that, the end result is simply magical. @Viki, Lia, Michelle, Ellie, when you don't know which next movie to choose to react to, it's easy: pick almost any Spielberg movie, and you'll enjoy it immensely. Great reaction👍👏👏👏
The storm wasn’t originally in the script but they filmed in Hawaii which got hit by a hurricane during filming and it destroyed some of the sets so they wrote it into the movie, the cast and crew had to stay in their hotel during the storm and apparently Spielberg stayed up playing games with the kids to keep their minds off the hurricane. The scene where the plexiglass roof of the SUV falls on the kids wasn’t supposed to happen but the T-Rex malfunctioned and pushed down too hard on the plexiglass so that is the kids genuine reaction because they were not expect that.
Viki That little boy actor, Joseph Mazzello is now adult actor whose credits include as John Deacon (Queen) in Bohemian Rhapsody & military miniseries, The Pacific.
I always thought the color scheme of the characters clothing was a stroke of genius. You can always detect who is who by their color. Dr. Grant has a blue theme, John Hammond as a white thing going on, and Dr. Malcolm has a black color palette. But, what I think is even smarter is the fact that the colors of black and white representing bad and good, respectively, are put on the wrong characters. John Hammond wears white to mislead you into thinking he's a good man, when it was he who had the idea of cloning dinosaurs in the first place, and put many lives at risk. Dr. Malcolm, on the other hand, with wearing black makes you think of him initially as some sort of rebel sort, but in reality, he's the one telling all of us he's a hero. He scolds Hammond on his ideas of cloning as dangerous, and that life won't be contained. It doesn't work that way. And he was right, in the end. As for Dr. Grant, he gets a cool blue color, because it represents healing, and in the beginning he has a hard time with children, but his mental state starts to "heal" in terms of warming up to two very charming kids.
Great reaction! I remember seeing this movie as a kid and being so fascinated by the dinosaurs. Also when I was a kid I used to go to this movie theater and they had famous scenes from movies framed on the wall, and one of them was the picture of the T-Rex roaring as the banner fell. Please keep reacting to the entire franchise! It would be amazing to see you guys react to the rest of the series! 🦖

The movie was filmed in the Hawaiian Islands, US. At least the stuff that wasn't in a studio. Even the hurricane footage was filmed while they were there. It is not stock footage. It's amazing how well the special effects including the CG have held up even 30 years later.
THANK you for this review/reaction to this great movie, its on my top 3 movies of all time list. I would give anything of you ladies could have seen this movie in a large movie theatre with a huge souind system as I did in 1993. it was the best movie theatre experience I ever had, when the T-rex attacked you could feel your whole body and movie theatre shake!. also, I love the new christmas decorations and look forward to some christmas movies. a christmas movie suggestion is "its a wonderful life" ( 1946). other NON christmas movie suggestions are....planet of the apes ( 1968), twister, midsommar, billy jack ( 1971), and "team america:world police". THANKS!!, love you all and have a merry christmas season!!.
One of the reasons the CGI in this movie stands up so well is because they were well aware of CGI's limitations and as such, generally only used CGI for distant shots where people wouldn't notice it didn't look quite real. For scenes that needed close-ups, they used practical effects like animatronics. That's something modern filmmakers have forgotten how to do: now they liberally use CGI in shots they shouldn't, and that leads people to mistakenly think JP's CGI is "better" than modern CGI. It's not; it's just that Spielberg knew when it was safe to use CGI and when not to.
Guys they tell you early in the movie the T-Rex can run 32 miles per hour. The Jeep can reach a higher speed. They also tell you how intelligent the Raptors are in detail multiple times. My dog can open unlocked doors. I'm willing to bet these guys could figure it out.
You know that Vicky is what you were going to say something in the beginning of the video... Also, no, they can't change the weather. That's a tropical storm.
In the Tyrannosaur car chase, the reason the Tyrannosaur catches up to them initially, is because the driver is unable to *shift gears* in time, and when he IS they accidentally push the gear-stick back again, lowering the cars speed In the end, the driver is able to shift the gears once more, and is therefore able to build enough speed to get away; the car is naturally able to escape a Tyrannosaur, but like any vehicle, you need to gear up in order to gain speed!
I love movies like Jurassic Park, because they taught us important things to do in future. Sometimes life itself fights back to those who not only mean a threat to them, but as punishment for playing with nature they don't seemed to understand, such as 'playing God' comes to a price to everything and everyone. We humans must respect and understand the occurrences of how time alone develops life. For those who wanted to either resurrect or create life tips the balance of nature up-side-down, reversed the time wheel and confuses with life of how unusual they appear and when will the food chains may be critically destroyed by chaos. We are all part life and that means we are to care the remains of this world with miracles and mysterious occurrences. E.g. The engine of a car is just an engine, but to confuse it with heat or pressure may start an explosion. The explosion of nature could be 1,000 times worse.
Great reactions ladies. For more dinosaur films may I recommend The Good Dinosaur and The Land Before Time, both animated and from different eras but both great stories.
Actually the latest science shows that a t rex was able to run about 11 kmh or 6.8 mph which is far much slower than the movie depicts. A regular adult with perfect working legs could probably outrun it without much effort. Only problem is that most people won't have the cardio enough to run as far as a t rex.
@@billybigballs196 it was a blockbuster hit for sure…the CGI was definitely great and still is….I guess what I was trying to say is the CGI on Jurassic Park included many characters…those being the different dinosaurs where T2 was just the 1 character. Sure, I would include T2 and make a correction to my statement. Jurassic Park was ONE of the first major CGI movies.
Indian cinema's female megastar, our legendary child artist/highly talented versatile actress/box-office queen/fashion diva #Sridevi ma'am was approached by the makers/producers of top Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg's 1993 world-wide all time blockbuster movie "Jurassic Park" as a supporting actress choice. As #Sridevi was extremely busy ruling number one as a versatile highly talented actress with her Bollywood/Telugu/Tamil/Malayalam/Kannada different Indian language cinema industries with back to back movies every year. Indian and International media/Hollywood movie journalists etc. often referred #Sridevi as the combination of Hollywood actresses Shirley Temple (child artist), Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Meryl Streep, Madonna of Indian cinema. The only actress in the history of Indian cinema to have made a worldwide highly acclaimed and successful comeback 2012 super-hit Bollywood movie “English Vinglish” after 14 years of sabbatical. #Sridevi was one of the very rare few actresses to have got equal/sometimes higher remuneration compared to the leading male dominant actors in Bollywood and her other multi-lingual film career. Her magnificent/illustrious career that spanned five decades, she was considered to be the most influential actress ever in Indian cinema who appeared in a range of genres of movies.
#Sridevi ma'am regretted missing her entire childhood without school, college, no education at all except doing back to back multiple languages 300 movies daily round the clock shifts hectic work as the top female child artist till her last 2017 Hindi worldwide super-hit movie "MOM".

Not really a horror. In the UK they rated it PG with a special warning that it may be too scary for younger children, knowing they would lose a lot of their target audience if the rating were any greater.t 4:44 I'm told this is particularly persuasive because it is extremely hard to get funding for paleontological digs. 6:05 That is a Brachiosaurus (unlike most other long-necked browsing dinosaurs its front legs are longer than the back legs, like a giraffe). 11:64 If you are going to have meat-eating animals, you have to give them other animals to eat. It's a simple fact of life. 34:15 Not only frogs, many reptiles have weird things about their genders. Crocodile gender is determined by the temperature the eggs are incubated at, some lizards are all female and still manage to reproduce with no male input. In the book they use DNA from various sources, not just amphibians. 43:20 Some dogs and cats work out how to open doors. It may be trial and error but once they do it, they usually remember how they did it and can do it again. Even though they are reproducing the dinos will all die. They briefly mention the lysine contingency, if the humans aren't there to give them lysine they will die off.
Can someone explain to me when the t rex walks out it level with the fence but when it pushes the car though the same hole in the fence there is a large drop off
yeah this is the ultimate kids movie imo, bigger than star wars..totally blew everyone's minds, everything was jurassic park after this, haha merch like you can't imagine, there was just nothing before this film that looked anything like it and the story is pure magic, holds up better than films still being made today, and what's most impressive is spielberg made this while also making Schindler's List, yeah it almost killed him
Take a good look at the skeletons in the visitors center, a T Rex and an Apatasaur... This movie was made by Steven Spielberg, who also worked with George Lucas on a little movie called "the land before time". Can anyone think of a scene in that movie with a rex and a grown Apatasaur? Your welcome for the trauma.
26:25 Yeah, I know Vicky. I've seen this scene many times & I can't really bring myself to feel bad for Dennis Nedry either, when Karma finally said "hi."
Jeff Goldblum repeated his line when the Jeep was racing away from the T-Rex later in Independence Day when their stolen glider was racing to escape the alien mothership while the exit was closing. Dogs and cats can open doors, so why not raptors?
Gotta be honest. I'm kind of tired of seeing RUclipsrs' reactions to "Jurassic Park," but I have to give this video a like because of Viki's cute beret.
Fun fact, the not seeing if you don't move is a myth, T-Rex operated differently and killed their prey by hunting from the shadows, so he or she depending on the gender could smell you from a long distance.
43:17 "I know they are super-intelligent and smart but . . . this cannot be." If dogs and cats can figure out how to open a door with that kind of handle, why not these guys?
Although at the end of day it’s visual effects of course; I don’t believe they were suggesting that the incoming storm that hit them was artificially created by the park people. I think Vicki was thinking they went all sci fi on them.
Hey Lia and Viki. Y'all are looking beautifully elegant as usual. This is a good movie. The effects were groundbreaking at the time. It still holds up well.
The T-rex in this movie is named Rexy she appears in the Jurassic World movies by then she's quite an old dinosaur but still strong enough to hunt and kill.
27:14 Ever since i was a kid I've always said why not climb down the back or the side of the tree instead of trying to outrun the Jeep lol But it's a movie i guess haha
When they were landing the helicopter, Grant had two female ends of the seat belt, but still found a way to make it work. The dinosaurs were all female, but life still found a way to make it work.

this movie brought the magic of dinosaurs on the big screen like we had never seen before

And then there is Prehistoric Planet CGI.
This is one movie that really should be seen on the big screen.
True.. Very True
In my mind the ONLY Spielberg movie that can rival Jaws
Don't leave the Xmas tree lights on over night guys
Guys they tell you early in the movie the T-Rex can run 32 miles per hour. The Jeep can reach a higher speed.
They also tell you how intelligent the Raptors are in detail multiple times. My dog can open unlocked doors. I'm willing to bet these guys could figure it out.
You know that Vicky is what you were going to say something in the beginning of the video... Also, no, they can't change the weather. That's a tropical storm.
T tex was like the dino equivalent of a cheetah. It could only maintain its max running speed in short bursts
Nobody in this movie bothered asking the big question. if dinosaurs are related to birds do they taste like chicken?
Imagine a raptor drumstick 🍗
In the Tyrannosaur car chase, the reason the Tyrannosaur catches up to them initially, is because the driver is unable to *shift gears* in time, and when he IS they accidentally push the gear-stick back again, lowering the cars speed
In the end, the driver is able to shift the gears once more, and is therefore able to build enough speed to get away; the car is naturally able to escape a Tyrannosaur, but like any vehicle, you need to gear up in order to gain speed!
Lia & Viki
In the theaters back in 1993, when lawyer got eaten by the T-Rex, theater audience cheered! lol
I told you how many times we need locking mechanism on the vehicle doors.😂😂😂
Trivia: at the end we see birds flying along the helicopter; paleontologists now consider birds “avian dinosaurs “ 🎉
Great reactions ladies. For more dinosaur films may I recommend The Good Dinosaur and The Land Before Time, both animated and from different eras but both great stories.
the birds are the direct descendants of the dinosaurs, which is why they showed them at th end
Filmed in Hawaii lol also T. rex is big so it couldn’t run fast for long
Actually the latest science shows that a t rex was able to run about 11 kmh or 6.8 mph which is far much slower than the movie depicts. A regular adult with perfect working legs could probably outrun it without much effort. Only problem is that most people won't have the cardio enough to run as far as a t rex.
never, ever will forget the impact of the first iconic shot of the first dinosaur proper
This was the very first major CGI movie ever made.
Ever heard of terminator 2
@@billybigballs196 yes
@@jamesmoore4003 you don't think t2 was a major cgi film?
@@billybigballs196 it was a blockbuster hit for sure…the CGI was definitely great and still is….I guess what I was trying to say is the CGI on Jurassic Park included many characters…those being the different dinosaurs where T2 was just the 1 character. Sure, I would include T2 and make a correction to my statement. Jurassic Park was ONE of the first major CGI movies.
The abyss. James Moron.

Nedry: I have no food on me.
Dino: Sir, you're made of meat!
25:45 "I don't have any food; I have _no_ food on me." You're wrong about that! 🙈
This is my all time favorite movie. Hope you watch the rest of the series!
The movie holds up but the cover image on the title screen looks like it's from 30 years prior.
1:32 "Is it something like a Horror, this movie, or no?" I think of it as a monster movie.
Not really a horror. In the UK they rated it PG with a special warning that it may be too scary for younger children, knowing they would lose a lot of their target audience if the rating were any greater.t
4:44 I'm told this is particularly persuasive because it is extremely hard to get funding for paleontological digs.
Can someone explain to me when the t rex walks out it level with the fence but when it pushes the car though the same hole in the fence there is a large drop off
yeah this is the ultimate kids movie imo, bigger than star wars..totally blew everyone's minds, everything was jurassic park after this, haha merch like you can't imagine, there was just nothing before this film that looked anything like it and the story is pure magic, holds up better than films still being made today, and what's most impressive is spielberg made this while also making Schindler's List, yeah it almost killed him
As he turned off the last two circuits, your Christmas tree lights dimmed then went out. I can't decide if that is cool or spooky.
You would feel bad if you read the novel. But in the movie, yeah, he deserved it.
Jeff Goldblum repeated his line when the Jeep was racing away from the T-Rex later in Independence Day when their stolen glider was racing to escape the alien mothership while the exit was closing.
Dogs and cats can open doors, so why not raptors?
This is when they made movies, not public statements and check boxes.
Check boxes?
One of my favourite childhood movies.
I LOVE VIKI WITH THE HAT!
48:46 "And they do not have any weapons." They should have grabbed a convenient bone from the massive skeleton that collapsed around them!
Gotta be honest. I'm kind of tired of seeing RUclipsrs' reactions to "Jurassic Park," but I have to give this video a like because of Viki's cute beret.
I believe the island is Fiji where it was filmed
I think it was filmed in Hawaii.
@@anzaeria actually you’re right. Good shout
Fun fact, the not seeing if you don't move is a myth, T-Rex operated differently and killed their prey by hunting from the shadows, so he or she depending on the gender could smell you from a long distance.
T. Rex have better eyesight than hawk.
@@ExtremeMadnessX Yes I read about that.
The theme song fits well for school graduation.
43:17 "I know they are super-intelligent and smart but . . . this cannot be." If dogs and cats can figure out how to open a door with that kind of handle, why not these guys?
Judging by the thumbnail, I thought it they were reacting to a Indiana Jones movie because Grant's head looks like Ford's face in the thumbnail. Ha!
Interestingly, Harrison Ford had previously been approached about playing Dr Alan Grant before Sam Neill was cast. Ford rejected the offer.
I was working at McDonald's in 1993 and they had a special triple cheeseburger meal just for this movie for a limited time.
Although at the end of day it’s visual effects of course; I don’t believe they were suggesting that the incoming storm that hit them was artificially created by the park people. I think Vicki was thinking they went all sci fi on them.
Please watch the entire series after this.
I watched this movie since I was a little boy! Love your hair Lia, and your hat Vicky!
Hey Lia and Viki. Y'all are looking beautifully elegant as usual. This is a good movie. The effects were groundbreaking at the time. It still holds up well.
The long neck dinosaurs are brontosaurus or brancheosarus or diplodocous
My personal favorite movie. It defined a large part of my childhood.
VIKI ROCKIN THE BERET!
Great reaction!!! Love watching along with both of you!! Great film, good story, glad you both enjoyed it, can't wait to see more of you, take care
T-Rex talks
22:20: WHAAAAT?!
22:25: OH ARE YOU SERIUS?! HEY, GLITTER!
23:05: MMMM A LAWYER.... I LIKE LAWYER!!!
23:19:WHERE THE HELL DID THEY GO?!
Welcome to Jurassic Park
Lol no they weren't controlling the weather 🤣 it was just a storm that happened to be coming in a little earlier than expected
One of those regrets, not seeing it at the Cinema.
Never underestimate a T. rex , dilophosaur, or a raptor
