    Excellent video explaining tear down and reinstalling cleaned parts. I have a 2011 E350 coupe. So this work would be the same on mine. I happen to keep a clean engine and bay area. I do my own work when possible . Has only needed a thermostat replaced which was under warranty years ago. I'm saving this vid for any future work needed. Thanks again Mate, for a fantastic vid.

    There is a specific pattern you are supposed to torque the oil filter housing bolts down, start at the middle bolt, then down, upper right, left across, down to the right, then upper left bolt last. When I replaced my oil filter housing gaskets I didnt bother draining the coolant, just pull off the oil filter housing and it drained that way. Also no need to disconnect the coolant hose and thermostat wire, just unbolt the thermostat housing and lift out of the way. After the oil filter housing was removed I then drained the oil in case there was any coolant contamination.

    This engine generation family, M272/M273 are those engines that in comparison to M278 and M157 which sacrifice longevity and reliability for performance these two do the opposite. I was dying to get an M278, the turbos, and the horsepower were tempting, but once I started digging into the BENZ community, I realized it wasn't worth it. The M272/3 engines are more reliable than any other Mercedes V8 engine, and I'm not saying they are bulletproof, but in comparison with the M278, man... it's a heaven-to-earth difference. I declined a 2013 E550. 42K miles for a 2011 E550 with 90 miles. Yes, It's way more miles, but guess what? I won't be suffering from cylinder scoring, nor any turbo issue, no 4matic stuff. So, I'll have more peace of mind knowing that despite this one being older and with higher mileage, I know the problems that may pop up could be addressed, and unlike the M278 I won't have to be scratching my head because I need to get a new engine.

      @judsonwidmymerviluszabala378 I do agree, very good point, post made M272 and M273 can be a great choice, on any car more HP = more problems. M273 with 380ish HP is enough for any car.

    I wasn't happy with the fit of the Elring oil filter housing/cooler gaskets. Too loose, and I wasn't going to use rtv to retain them. You could get by with the oil cooler gasket a bit loose if the unit is off the engine, but the oil filter housing gasket snug fit is mandatory. The housing is held vertically to be installed, and you have to rely that gasket staying in place, especially because you can't really see behind the housing.
    I installed oem MB gaskets for the housing/cooler. More expensive but the fit was perfect, no leak issues.

    • @nv1493
      @nv1493 4 месяца назад +1

      Also, the three cam plug covers on the back of the engine and the oil separator housing can be prone to leakage.
