I would love to see a little series rebuilding Willow Creek neighbourhoods. Maybe some with budget, maybe some without, maybe some with different packs. You can always use your own website for that!
Maybe the random build generator, slowly building up Willow Creek and than letting us download the save-file? Don’t feel pressured though, your (mental) health is most important!

I knew this would be a disaster the moment you decided to do an elaborate multi-house build on a budget with only the base game. Base game furniture is so expensive and it's not even cute. You should've allowed yourself at least For Rent since you need it to use these anyway 🤣

To be honest I always played with similar lots with only base game for quite some time, it's confusing but fun to have several sims at the same time and pretend they are neighbors

My grandma's shotgun home was a duplex with a shared porch and small back yard.
Layout going straight back was living, bedroom bedroom bathroom kitchen. One long hallway
Kitchen all the way in the back? Interesting, wonder why they built it like that
@@tehpronoob7380 Depending on how old the home is, it may have been a throwback from farming/homestead era. Quicker to bring all the goodies into the kitchen that way.
My grandparents had a similar set up but a two story duplex. Kitchen in the back; my mom remembers the milkman coming & the icebox needing actual ice.
Most houses nowadays are built with the kitchen in or towards the back. Even many apartments will have a wall between kitchen & living room. Better to have visitors see the nice living room where they can chat than the noisy kitchen, probably.
@@tehpronoob7380 If I remember correctly, one of the big reasons is that those houses are designed so that opening the windows at either end turns that main hallway into a wind tunnel to help keep the house cool.
That means you want the rooms at either end to be the public rooms. If you had a bedroom at one end you wouldn't be able to close your door for privacy without cooking everyone else in summer.
I definitely would be interested in more Willow Creek! Either as base game only or using your random pack generator!

I think it would be great if you did like a 5000 vs 10000 vs 20000 or something like that, but all on one lot. They all have to match some kind of style and fit 2+ sims, but there could be shared outdoor space for some things that can’t be larger than the smallest house. I don’t know, just something I thought of when watching this!
What about turning that one massive mansion in Willow Creek into an apartment building?

I love how the original build has a bathroom that has no ceiling and vents directly out onto the front porch, the attention to detail is just perfect 😂😂
All my original Sims 1 and 2 builds had a bathroom right next to the front door, because so many visitors would arrive already needing to use the toilet. So, yep, overlooking the front porch.
I crave no-budget builds so much. My own creativity limits me to build cool stuff so I always like to watch you and other creators who are so creative just let loose!
I'd highly recommend using the Strangerville windows/doors/spandrals/collumns for shotgun style homes. They fit in really nicely.

I actually live in a shotgun house. Perfect for me. The old tale here in Ky is that you could stand at the front door and shoot a shotgun out the back door. lol
I'd love to see you recreate the BFF Household like this, with two or three rental houses on either side using their budget instead of a starter budget and then the true testament to your skills, renovating the Spencer-Kim-Lewis home into just a normal apartment building with them either still living there in a smaller area or having moved out.

I like it! That is one of the best things about the rental pack- being able to make the lots appear smaller by doing stuff like this. I think a trailer park would be a fun project for you!
For anyone interested, there is a builder called Dina_Designs and she totally re-made this entire street. All her houses are in the gallery. That builder ... Is me AHA! Shameless plug, yeah... I did that, no shame on my end. Proud of myself for doing it.

Irl starter compact housing like this, if it came furnished, would likely have mismatched inexpensive everything lol. Always enjoy build videos and hope Deli is feeling better ❤ as well as Bowser’s physical therapy
Oh I'd definitely like to see the entire neighborhood built up like this! Would also be cool if in addition to base game, you also allowed yourself the use of all the packs that were released for free! As a base game simmer, being able to use stuff like the desert luxe pack, romantic garden, plant kit etc has been made a huge difference :)
this was the reason I bought for rent. Stuff like this is my bread and butter when building.

I think it would be cool to do a build like this and upload three different versions of it at different price points. The shell and the outside stay the same but the decor and the fixtures can be upgraded with each new price point.
Starter home, mid game play pricing and then unlimited budget, and you can decide which one you want to download with what you have.

I'd love to see some more willow creek neighbourhood builds. This is exactly the sort of thing I would do if I had for rent, but it's still too glitchy for me to want to risk buying it.
The basics in rentals I know IRL are a complete bathroom and kitchen counters + sink. I'm inspired to start my own now from this build as a shell

Shotgun style houses were made with all the doors in a line with really high ceilings. The reason was because they didn't have AC at the time and the style caused the rooms to get a breeze. Heat rose into the high ceilings and the air flow from all the open doors made the house cooler.

What I noticed immediately was how the doors actually come down for you- mine don't for some reason.. no matter the mode I put the walls in- the doors are up and in the way. :I

As someone who suffers with insomnia, I feel your pain. I hope you can get your sleep in! And, I love this pack because you can fit more living spaces around. I turned Newcrest into a neighborhood of all businesses of one type or another. I replaced some single family homes with multi-family dwellings in other neighborhoods to make up for the lost houses. Love this so much.

I used to do this before For rent was even announced and it was always so annoying trying to figure out how to make it feel more like an actual town house complex/duplex without one family just going next door to use the other kitchen. I was constantly locking and unlocking doors. Since for rent came out, it’s been too buggy for me to want to really try it again but no one inspires me to play the sims like James
Having the whole are filled with shotgun houses would be really neat. Then make each one based off of a different pack. It'd give more options for those that have only a few packs.

In your Dream Home Decorator series (I think) you did a build where you copied the debug houses to fit multiple on a lot; it'd be fun to see something like that where you take inspo from other houses in the neighborhood! Also, Sarah Kendall recently did a renovation challenge where she spins a wheel to renovate a random lot in the style of a random townie or you could pick the lot and townie if you don't feel like randomizing, but either way would be fun to see your take on that challenge :)

I think it would be interesting building lots in Willow Creek. Kind of like Deli redoing San Myshuno! But instead of revamps, it's empty lots haha.

almost all of the houses and businesses - at least on the main thoroughfairs are like this in central Idaho. It's crazy to walk into every shop, bar, and home and see the different ways they made the spaces work. Bars are particularly easy - with shops and restaurants being the most difficult haha!

I never knew this style of house was called shotgun 🤯 My Aunt's & Uncle's townhouse is this style and I always love it when I'm visiting. absolutely loved going to theirs for family events❤ The long hallway is just so beautiful to me😍
Maybe you could take the empty lot, Preeminent Domain, in Magnolia Promenade, and make a residential rental there.
or
You could recreate the building on The Roadstead lot, or build something with a similar vibe to it on the Preeminent Domain. This would free up the The Roadstead lot for a residential rental, with 4 or 5 units and some shared space in the basement for laundry and such.
I’d be happy to see a lot of the other worlds remade with residential rentals the fit the aesthetics of both the world and the neighborhood they’re in. I’m not much of a builder so I mostly download builds from the gallery to put in my game. Also I appreciate you limiting the packs used on this and the penthouse turned residential rental builds. I don’t own all the packs and kits yet so it’s great seeing a build that fits the aesthetics of the world and neighborhood and it’s something I know when I place down is going to fully be there. I mean, I don’t mind when I get something and stuff is used from a pack I don’t have as I can just add something from a pack I do have if it’s something important, but it’s nice to have options where I know everything should be there. :-) I do practice building and decorating sometimes (and making sims in CAS), but I’m definitely more into just playing the game so I tend to use the gallery for builds and sims a lot more often and thankfully there’s sooooooo many simmers who love building, designing, and making sims who upload to the gallery to choose from that relieves a lot of the stress for me. So yeah if you want to do a series remaking neighborhoods in worlds with residential rentals I’d definitely watch it and most likely download the builds to use as well since I own For Rent and enjoy having my sims live in residential rental places (either sims I’m playing or sims who grow up and need to move out to start their new lives…which thanks to neighborhood stories they can do even when I am not playing their household).

Remember that for starting funds you get an additional 2000 per sim. So if this lot is for three individual sims, the budget is 24,000. If there are any couples or children, the budget can be even higher
Id love to see a strangerville rental maybe inspired by the apartments in Coraline where its one large house thats been renovated into smaller apertments.

Im always surprised you don't bread out debug for the really budget builds like this, you would have more to work with so you can make it still pretty nice for little to no money
I like to build duplexes & generally just build up.
My grandparents lived in a two-story duplex for ages. I remember the stairs were on the wall shared with the neighbors; living room in front then kitchen/dining room. All the bedrooms were upstairs, only 3 I think, & only one bathroom for the seven people that lived there. My mom shared a bed with her two younger sisters; their brothers shared a room, too. Behind a door in the upstairs hall was another set of stairs that led to the attic; they were dark & spooky to young me. I don’t remember going up there. I have the old key to that house somewhere but doubt it works. lol
The house seemed big to me but by that time only my grandparents lived there.
I love the idea of revisiting Willow Creek. This brings back a lot of warm memories of the first days playing this game almost 10 years ago 😊
James I know that sleep struggle 😩 I totally understand needing to take some time off bc of that. Feeling exhausted sucks! All I can suggest is melatonin, tart cherry juice, and magnesium (emphasis on magnesium).
In Los Angeles we have a lot of lots with one house in front and one in back (or three) would love to see that
