Yup. My nearby art museum had an art piece that was literally a pile of wrapped green candies on the floor. People were encouraged to eat the candy, which was regularly replenished. It was a commentary on... something?
As an archivist, the set-up for the paintings is actually a good idea for preservation. Many older items will be damaged over time by sunlight, so having it's own shaded room is a great idea for display while preserving the life of the artifact when they're brought out for exhibition.
DUDE!! The exterior is awesome but more than that; I can’t believe you made actual art!! I was expecting the usual sculptures and paintings! When you revealed the trapped tires I was sitting there thinking “must be debug but I’ve never seen it 🤔” but you MADE it?! As someone who only uses tool mod to slightly resize rugs and move treehouses off lot, I can’t imagine how much effort this took! you must have been having fun to get through it all 😅 it’s amazing I love it. If you were still on sm I’d take screenshots of my sims doing the thoughtful camera pose in front of your pieces and tag you 😂
I was just thinking that his tools on his website are so great for people who are struggling with ideas in the sims. The random pack generator is a phenomenal tool to force yourself out of your comfort zone and make something you would’ve never dreamt of otherwise! Like this museum 😍
In a recent Let's Play, you went into the beached ship in Sulani, and mentioned wanting to renovate it - I'd *love* to see that! You could do all kinds of themes with it! It could be residential, or a bar, or whatever - but that's a lot I don't see people ever really touch, and you're so creative, I bet you could give that ship some oomph!
@@NoDecaf7I usually make it a secret mermaid bar/grotto/hang out. Sometimes the ship theme stays sometimes I full on make it a little cave for them. If you have het togerher you can also make a club w just mermaids and meet up there and stuff

19:34 as someone with a bachelors in fine arts, let me help you. servitude has always been a stage for consumerism and commercialism -- we might pine for a bygone era where people had a place, where service was respected, and morals were upheld. but that time was never as clean as we might like to think. what truly is the difference between the butler and the gnome? what is the gnome if not a more honest representation of our world? servitude has always been the way the rich and powerful has controlled others. in the eyes of the powerful, the gnome is no different to the butler. something like that. lmao
23:52 "'The clocks are being burnt, time is being wasted. You're wasting time in this museum, potentially watching this video too. No, please stay.'' *nervous laughter* I love this part 😂
As someone who goes to a ton of modern art museums, this build made me so excited! Truly the high point of my day. I was telling my husband all about how much the art you filled it with reminded me of real things I’ve seen. If you’re looking to do some more wacky builds, I’d love to see you renovate the Strangerville plane crash and the Sulani ship wreck!
I love that you gave commentary to the tires statue 🛞🤣 Also edit: at 21:05, the girl reaches to gold. I’ve literally seen something similar in a museum before 🤣
I agree! It'd still be fun if he rolls it for the additional concepts and then make sure he doesn't do repeated packs... unless he REALLY likes the result.
When I saw there wasn't a lot of luxe and shabby items I was worried but wow the results are mind blowing. Such creativity to make art installations that make sense. And I love the fact that there are a lot of activities to do in the museum to make the build more interesting to play in.
I'm actually genuinely impressed by the art installations, they are really clever! I literally never use museums in the Sims but this one I'll definitely get in my worlds, thank you so much
The tire exhibit at the front of the museum entrance immediately reminded me of TLOU!!! I can’t believe this bougie museum has a SINGULAR toilet for everyone to use! Hope that coffee from the cafe doesn’t hit everyone’s tummy at the same time.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Every art installation explanation made perfect sense haha. There was one missed opportunity... The bathtub is there to represent time going down the drain... Haha!
Admittedly I’ve not seen that many museum builds, but all the same this is the first museum build I’ve seen that feels intentional. It actually makes sense and looks good at the same time. It feels very legit unlike a lot of sims museums… Love this build!
Sims 4 builds can be so same old same old. I feel like we’ve seen so much of the same stuff especially with the lack of swatches and options and customization. But this is so unique and creative and amazing. My sims never go to museums but i am totally going to use this! I love it.
This is James at his best. Reminds me so much of really old James videos too 🥹 I love when you go full creative. I’d LOVE if you did a Syd Mac-esque aesthetic wheel build challenge as you’d kill it!
I am SO INTRIGUED by the art exhibit challenge! It could be a challenge in itself tbh. Roll a theme and create scupltures to interpret those ideas and concepts. It could get real deep with some dedication! Obviously, when everything is built, you have to give a tour, in first person, and pretend you're the guide.
I kind of love the idea of a museum on this lot in this neighborhood. I think the reason the Eco Lifestyle world feels so empty is because so many of the community lots are the community spaces, which I understand is necessary for the gameplay (they want you to be able to move into any neighborhood in the world and interact with the new lot type), but it never occurred to me to renovate the world in this way and now I wanna give it a try! Give the residents of Evergreen Harbor some places to go and things to do!
LOVE this build! Also, I have a fun challenge! I’d love to see you and deli work together on a house, but only get like 15 minutes each and then having to build further on what the other built, and when the other person builds you’d have to go so you wouldn’t see what they’d do, if that makes sense!
It feels like it's been a long time since we've seen James flex his creative muscles like this and it's so cool to see. I would definitely be up for seeing more build challenges like this, also I'm definitely going to be downloading this to put in my game, it's a million times more interesting than any of the other museums in game.
you and the tool mod are really an unstoppable duo! this is the most creative museum build ive watched, the art pieces you came up with were so fun and fit into the style/story of the pack really well, great job!!
I would totally go to this museum and potentially spend a lot of money on the ticket irl 🤩 All those pieces you put together seems super legit, amazing job!!
OMG James is an artist! I love your art piece and the meaning behind it!! And this was my initial thought, only after the first art piece with the overgrown tires. I didn't expect it to continue, I just expected the classis TS4 museum art pieces. This was such a nice, creative video!! And amazing how all the exterior luxe wall art pieces counted as wall art, so that you didn't really have to think about it for the inside, where they were probably intended to count, by the TS4 team. Great job!!
Whoa. I love the creative way you have embraced the art museum. By that, I mean literally creating your own pieces of art with the Sims 4 (and just one pack) Great Job, I love it!
With Eco Lifestyle being my FAVORITE pack - This museum build is amazing! I will most definitely put this in my game! I love all the thought put into the exhibits and displays, you are so creative James!
I don't know if James has ever been, but the way the black, sharply angled museum sits above the water with an interior full of shabby-chic and lightwood flooring? Very reminiscent of the V&A Museum up here in Dundee, Scotland! Very clever!
Honestly, James, as somebody who visits art galleries very often, I would definitely visit your museum. I absolutely love this build and the concept is great. Well done!
you killed this, a modern luxe museum with shabby exhibits. it all makes sense, has a story, and is executed perfectly. im literally obsessed, its so good.
This is my favourite build video ever. So inspired!! Love just letting loose and creating art installations with limited options, and the architecture is so cool 🤩 it suits the world, but stands out. Feels like a real modern art museum. It’s made me want to go and make debug art in the existing museums to spruce them up 😆
I love the idea that, this gallery was built after the world had been cleaned up and fixed and they commissioned artists to create works from the trash around the world. Such a cool build James!
Im super impressed with this - I am glad to see a lot of professionals in the arts are agreeing because you are making art within art it's really cool! You're both designing the museum to make sure each of these exhibits "pops" in relation to the environment on top of actually making the art piece.
Really enjoyed the actual art installations you pieced together - it demonstrates your creativity! Also the building and architecture itself is stunning.
For another challenge I’ve had a lot of fun with spinning a wheel to get 2 styles in each room you have to combine. The industrial Queen Anne kitchen and mission cosmolux living room were surprisingly nice!
oh my Lord! This museum should be in all my saves! I enjoyed watching this video. Jame just glows with happiness and creativity! All its exhibits are imbued with meaning, this is true. Even its triangular windows on the round walls resemble gears.
James coming up with the art pieces takes me back to coming up with wanky poetry for one of my English Literature models at University 😂 Someone somewhere could write a whole dang essay on The Ascent to Madness, I bet you 😂
You definitely made art! I think my favorite exhibit was your tire sculpture! I’m going to download this and use it in my world! But maybe add a second bathroom to mine lol
When I saw all the shabby furniture together I was inspired to a cheap mafia basement/house diorama. Also when you leaned the tub you could've sized down one of the fountain sprayers to show "time flowing down the drain"
James, You ARE an artist.... Just sayin' I really love this! Probably need to add some fire protection things in case Basil ever visits. I'd say you NAILED it!
I loved this challenge and build! As a fine arts major, I give your pieces a big thumbs up, especially the gold one. I loved how you even used the different colored lighting to best work with each exhibit. It was great how you had some more interactive areas as well.
The exterior of this build really reminds me of deconstructionist museums/architecture like a lot of Daniel Libeskind, Bernard Tschumi, Peter Eisenman's works. It's the first time I've ever seen such a complicated style adapted into the Sims!
I feel like very luxe is really big monochrome modern looking spaces. High ceilings, big windows, even in the bathrooms. Dividing the room with platforms going up or down. And for a museum particularly, seating spaces all around in front of the pieces and maybe a photography studio. Glass and water features, all kinds of discrete amenities like water carafes and glasses, coat hangers in a designated place, anything that can look like a reading/studying place about the exhibitions. Cosy places to seat everywhere especially if the space is really big. And the seating places outside to be covered with some platforms or plants for shade and confort.
I wish they did some update on the museums (or maybe a pack) so you could host different exhibitions, and have the exposition change for all those events. It could allow you to select the pieces, maybe even add yours, choose a theme, a dj, catering etc
That is définitely one of my favourite build you've ever did! I'm legit so impressed by the contemporary art pieces you created out of a challenge like this. I'm definitely gonna place it in my game! The suspended fridge, the flying gold, the gnomes, the time being overcooked, the trash, the tires... And of course the exhibition is interactive! Everything is so real and perfect!
I actually unironically really like all these art pieces especially the trash one. We never got to see it in live mode! I wonder if the lil chimney he hid actually gave off smoke :)
i'm so obsessed with this build. everything about it makes me hoot and holler and cheer it's SO GOOD AUGH i'm an Art Person from a family of Art People and we go to a lot of museums including art ones of course. and every decision here is so good, it feels so much like a real place you could go to. James, you are such an artist and you don't even realize it. your builds are always so beautifully done and this one is no exception. I love the care and detail you put into each build that you do.
This was a really fun and creative build challenge! James naming and describing his art exhibit pieces was so funny I was literally laughing out loud. But also I'm genuinely impressed how he was able to come up with them all. With such a random generated collection he had to work with I think the lot actually turned our really good!
As someone who loved a good museum visit you crushed it - it’s interesting to look at and not empty and you even made full on displays that make sense in the world! Will def add to my save thanks James 🙏
The fact you literally made an art piece which fits in with the world... so smartly done
"I should be an artist" ... You are an artist, James. First I was in awe with the building and then the installations. I would go to that museum irl!
Right? He's like "lol look at this silly museum" meanwhile he's making actual art pieces with valid commentary. james you are an ~*artiste*~
As an artist I'm very very entertained by the shoehorned "deep" explanations for the pieces, it's very realistic 😂
James just casually building a museum full of stunning art pieces with a complete story. Amazing!
I have a bachelor in fine arts I can say your art pieces makes sense. use some fancy words and you got it.
as another BFA haver, i second this. i got an A+ for unravelling a knitted scarf and leaving it on the floor. its all about how you talk about it lol

I love that we not only got a museum, but also an original James Turner art exhibition out of this! :D Love the art theme, would go there!
You are singlehandedly making the sims 4 more fun for other players! Definitely more than EA does... They need to pay you for your service honestly
