Did Hornady Rehire anyone it fired over Vaccinations? Back pay? That was the wrong position.
Great video. I'm a reloader, Hornady are the only projectiles I use. Have tried other top tier brands but always come back and now stay with Hornady.
I find that Hornady ELDM projectiles are by far the most accurate for long range shooting.
I would strongly disagree.
Can really see the pride in this company.👍👍👍
As a reloader for years I really enjoyed this video. Thanks !! God Bless America !!
They need to make primers!!
A little hint on sound when you are muffed and mic'ed up...throw a cheap lavalier microphone in the earmuff. Works great.
What a fantastic experience that must be, would be in my element there
There was a lot that can't be shown too!
I gathered that listening to the video. It was brilliant seeing it all, that lass doing the inspection was brilliant, that's what you call Quality Control
Yep, I was thoroughly impressed . :) @@joeeverett8390
I grew up just south of Grand Island in Hastings. I've always wanted to see this. Understandably we can't now, but I would love for my 8 year old son to experience it. He would love to have one of those Hornady boards with the bullet process, he would cherish that on his wall for a Christmas present.
I reload, and Hornady has always been my go-to ammo. I choose it before any other brand, every time.
I was there in 2014 and loved it totally awesome place and company
It's nice to see where my everyday carry ammo was manufactured.
I love the standard of making every round "look like jewelry".
Hornady make good bullets....not excellent but appropriate for their price point. My main complaint is their range of bullets for the 7.62X54R, 7.65X53mm Arg. or Belgium, 7.7 Japanese and .303 British. Their bullets are nominally listed as either .312" or .311" but generally run a thou to a thou and a half smaller with a subsequent reduction in accuracy. I stick to SMKs or LeHigh for those calibers.
Yeah I live in Nebraska and I don't see any Hornady hardly on our shelves on our FFL dealers stores.
That's pathetic.
I searched online. And it sure isn't hell for Hornady.
When you live in Nebraska I can't find Hornady ammunition or products where the company is based out of. That's pathetic
I see more Federal and nosler than Hornady
shame the prices are so insane on their stuff and their carry ammo isn't even nickel plated...not to mention what they did in 2020 with the coof
and this is why I always get Hornady and will always tell people... go with Hornady and you wont go wrong!
I have a large gun safe and I have a lot of Hornady ammunition and I can tell you first hand, Hornady makes great ammunition and I have it in multiple calibers. Moose was looking for someone to pet him. Enjoyed the tour.
Is Hornaday one of the Ammo companys that I hear got sold to a " Foreign" Entity? Will their production focus on The Civilian, Sporting Market???
No that was Federal, CCi, and others. I have not heard of Hornady on the list. Jarred, from Guns&Gadgets did a video on this subject.
I reload hundreds of XTP bullets in different pistol calibers. What a huge operation !
Freedom tools 👍👍✌
Loved the tour. Never was a fan of Hornady. More of a Speer & Sierra guy. 🤠
Keep up the GOOD WORK; you make great ammo!
They stock pile till price is good . They are all out to make money
Don’t like it? Don’t support it.
Fascinating ! Thanks for sharing. 😎🇨🇦
Wow, this was impressive...
Mr Ruger just gave the 👇 lower 👇 number 🔫 guns to more important people in his life!!!! It's that simple to figure out. ❤😮😮😮😊
Why the SPECIFIC number
Funny, A ammo company does not allow carrying a firearm into the building.
Very interesting as I'm a reloader. My little bedroom operation sure doesn't compare to Hornady's. I always thought melted lead was poured into the copper jacket. Interesting that it is solid lead that is pressed in. I still would like to know how they get lead inside of a full encasement jacket.
That melted lead core idea was Vernon Speer's Hot Cor bullet. Probably part of the reason he and Joyce Hornady dissolved the partnership and Speer went to Idaho to start Speer bullets. Bullets do have several variations in design and more than a few methods of manufacturing.
You see where all the high price shells are going too. I guess people don’t see it
If Hornady produces 7 million rounds per day, why is there an ammo shortage?
Is Hornady stockpiling ammo like the other manufacturers to drive prices up?
Possibly that there are two international conflicts going on and there are more shooters today than there ever have been .
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they are.
Extremely interesting insight 👍
Thank-you Chris
The statements at 6:57 didn't age well
So they updated their equipment and paid pennies on the dollar for it which increased production numbers and cut manufacturing cost but increase prices for the customer.
Hopefully they didn't sell out to the foreigners
I'd like to see 6ARC brass for us poor mortals who picked up the cartage but can't find any brass for it.
Couldn’t find 1 box of Hornady at Bass Pro shop ??
Didnt the hornady plant burn down?
when was that?
I'm 2A... hunting for food ok and hunting for trophies not ok....
Thank you Chris! Awesome video!
That is very cool
I reload and with my own experience I find Hornady bullets are the best 👍
Please don't sell out to any of the big money foreign entities
I’ve got to say Hornady ammo is the best ammo I’ve ever shot
Not exactly an episode of how it’s made
Dad was smart if anything happens at any of the buildings it doesn't effect the others, you only have down time in that area!
I'm surprised Hornady doesn't offer retail primers. Do they make their own primers for their ammunition?
It wasn't discussed. Ammunition makers generally use primers from many sources to tailor performance
@@chrisparkin431 FYI Hornady had a fatal explosion in their primer facility near Grand Island NEB. As I understand from Neb state inspectors it happened during chemical mixing. I didn't know they were doing primers or maybe just starting....no idea and I'm not starting any rumors. I live not very far away so Hornady is like local folks.
@@chrisparkin431why didn’t you ask ??!
the big guys make their own primers.@@chrisparkin431
Modern manufacturing is absolutely bonkers
Didn’t this factory just explode and kill a lady?
norma buys pre drawn wire. and Hornady makes there wire hmm interesting
Tremendous!!!
That was an alligator, not a crocodile.
Bullet Very Spend, Very Spend, Is Good Product
I enjoyed this.
LIKE HORNADY - NO 1. IN THE WORLD
Would love to see Hornady develop the lever evolution in the 44-40 caliber for the lever guns.
Blew my mind!!
Was that an explosive comment?
Better than gold IF shit happens
Lots of questions but why is the standard MOA rather than say 1/4 MOA? There will be many people looking at that video knowing they could manufacture to a higher quality. A lot of the equipment and processes should be resigned to history.
#53 represents the slot in production that was not owned by someone else prior to #53.People buy the right to own or purchase every new xxx number slotted gun for production.
I'm sure that means something to you, the rest of us will be left guessing.
I'm more inclined to think it's to do with some mutual event in 1953.
"drooling"
I wonder if they forced the visitors to be vaccinated like they wanted to the employees.
Someone always has sore ass
They are expanding for government contracts. All firearms and ammo manufacturers already in the know about what is coming, namely complete civilian disarming in United States. Especially with the introduction of digital money (some call it CBDC), it will be over.
All companies are making moves accordingly, selling, merging, expanding for government contracts, trying to make a quick profit from ever expanding 'gun laws' till the end comes, or just getting out completely or just making plans to become a zombie company, making profits for executives via financial engineering.
I agree @michaeldoe4805
That's messed up, just like Carhartt. I'll never buy Carhartt again
This has to be one of the worst company visit videos I’ve seen. Nothing planned. Camera work is horrendous. Stopped after 13 minutes in.
Where is this Located
Thank God......we need all the help we can get. If we had 1-2 companies that refused Mil sales and only catered to state and local LE and civilian we would be in good shape. Lake city stopped selling to civilians so why not have a company that is civilian focused? For the sake of the constitution and a well regulated fighting force a gun only works with good ammo......... something to ponder indeed. I mean BULK packs.......not 20 rd boxes for hunting but selling bulk 1000 rd cans with a slight discount like the good old days before the sickness we shall not speak of...lol
THE CREEPS MAKE ONLY ONE DAMNED BULLET FOR EVERYTHING XTP! WHAT A FRIGGIN' JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, great tour! Thanks! Any discussion about the recent explosion / fire ?? Is it true that Hornady forced employees to get vaccinated???
👍🎖
One day...
So I guess Ruger Arms will be my next video !
Are lead cores hard or soft casted ?
Watch the video
@chrisparkin431 I don't hear anyone say whether they are soft or hard cast nor read subtitles that say that .
@@Airon79 they are extruded
@chrisparkin431 So they are soft cast or maybe they harden the entire projectile , metal jacket , and core...I'll have to watch the video a few more times but at another time . Thanks !
I love Hornady but killing all those animals is crazy to me . But to each his own
Should of asked the Hornady employees how they felt about the owner telling them they will be terminated if they don't get vaccinated because he was scared of Joe Bidens mandate?
You must be a Republican!
I've seen a lot of factory tours, but this has got to be one of the most dis-jointed, confused, and hap-hazard video tours I've ever seen. Seriously, I'm left wondering what the hell they even do and how they do it. What a totally wasted opportunity to see how Hornady makes and tests their products. I still buy and trust Hornady products, but you did them a great disservice here with this joke of a factory tour.
I just find it very sad, but the owners find it necessary to kill an animal just so they can hang it on their wall. It is not like they need the meat to survive. Maybe it's the American mindset that you shoot everything and anyone that , maybe that should happen and then maybe the Almighty dollar to the owners of these companies would not be so important yours truly Harry Lucassen from Australia the impression I have of the American firearmsIndustry, it's a pity you don't spend as much money on preserving wildlife and humans. Maybe you've got things around arse about tit. I am really glad I live in Australia, where firearms are not very prevalent, we have less deaths due to firearms per capita than America and that says something for firearms control, I was very upset when I lost my automatic rifle to the new regulations, but now I see the value of having those regulations compared to America. It is a pity that the national firearms association in America has so much political clout. I wonder how they would feel it was their children being killed by their firearms, maybe that should happen and then maybe the Almighty dollar to the owners of these companies would not be so important yours truly Harry Lucassen from Australia
When I see videos like this it pisses me off thinking that maybe a so called ammo shortage is self created to increase profit margins...
Brilliant.
Unlikely
Gun free zone.......wow!
Wow, just wow! I started reloading in 1972 using there equipment and still have two of there old single stage reloading presses and still going strong. What a great company! I like everything they make lol.
Well now we all know why Hornady ammo is so expensive, all those hunting trips.😂😂
Thank you so much for filming tour of a great bullet and cartridge factory. The expansion is so impressive. You can pay that woman enough money 💰 for what she does seeing the imperfection in each batch. My hat is off for her. What a great
Insde look at building all forms of ammo and reloading equipment 😊😊😊
The nicest thing is the hands on firearms testing of batches of ammo. I understand the machine tests, but you can't beat old school test FIRING 😊😊😊😊
You don’t realize how much they make to you see it all together like that. One thing I’d like to know is why no 22lr ?
22lr, which is also known as 'the king of all cartridges'😊, is a whole another creature, completely different from center-fire loading. All segments of 22lr market is covered very well by others, from ultra cheap plinking to Olympic target shooting needs, so they probably don't see an opening to make the dedication necessary to load 22lr
I don’t think the profit margin is big enough. CCI really owns that market and the primer market. Hornady does offer 22mag and 17hmr at least.
Chris got to say that was awesome what a place to show don't think people realise the extent of what goes into making ammunition I really found this interesting and informative so thank you for putting this on appreciate it stay safe...
*Visited in 2014. Stocked up on Blem Bullets, Met Steve Hornady. Had a really great Conversation, leaning on that very Counter. Probably talked for the better part of an hour. (He signed my 1st Edition 2-part Reloading Manual)...He gave me a hard time because I had some Nosler Data notated inside the front cover..LOL....Took some Selfies. Was given a 1st Class Personalized Guided Factory Tour by a VERY NICE Young Lady. It was just Her and the two of Us...She even took Us down to the test firing tunnels. You will not find a better, nicer, classier company, with nicer people, anywhere*
WAAY COOL . Hornady is about the most welcoming firearm related company I've seen . Great all around . :)
Hoping they will supply American 🇺🇸 people and not sale out
Primers ??? How about helping us reloader out
Now to see if you were paying attention. They said how many bullets a day they can make, they claim to be running around the clock, and yet I can't find what I need. They have new equipment making production cheaper and more efficient and then another u-tuber says they anounced prices are going up, Jan 1st so it sounds like they can do it faster cheaper and hold out for more $$ been looking for 3 years for brass not even loaded ammo I am just now starting to see the plastic tip crap that blows clean through for $100 a box not even good soft point stuff that will actually do damage and still no brass
filmed on a cigarette lighter?
I find it funny how Joyce Hornady and Vernon Speer were business partners before Vernon Speer went to Idaho and established Speer bullets. I had a very old bullet box that had both names on it. You sure dont hear mention of that historic trivia. Two of the biggest bullet makers sharing some common history.
I don't hear much of Speer these days
@@chrisparkin431 Speer the man or Speer the bullet? They (bullets) always seemed to be better distributed in the western states back when I started reloading. That was over 40 years ago. Don't know why you wouldn't have heard much regarding Speer recently. The bullets are out there and have been a real bargain lately. Cheaper in my experience than Hornady, Sierra, and Nosler in recent years.

Yep, Speer is a good bullet . I think I have some . :) @@johnnorman7708

Why don't you build primers their two. We haven't been able to buy reloading components hear in Canada for 3 or 4 years.
I am feeling the love for Hornady’s product line and production fulfillment. Unlike Remington, who has lost credibility with all their jibber jabber about trying to keep up with demands, while in fact they are benefiting by shortages with higher pricing. Almost feel like Remington is gouging and not listening to their loyal consumer base. I am pro Hornady and will walk past Remington products to grab a Hornady. Shooting and hunting is the sport…not screwing the consumer.
VERY well said and I agree totally!
No way they pump out like that and others and still be a shortage . Makes u wonder if the stories are true . They was someone that stepped up that worked there said they go into tractor trailers and parked. I’m not 100% but today I don’t put it passed then. There our make big share holders rich . It’s a timing thing for them
There is no ammo shortage, there is only a "manufactured" price increase.
Wow!! I like this! I like the ammo they make and its a good product.
Awesome video guys! Thanks for taking us along for the tour. It was cool see where all my dies were born.
There was so much more that just wouldn't fit in the film too
Just heard the ammo plant had a explosion? It was in the priming compound mixing area...
That was awesome! I can't complain on the cost of Hornady ammo because of the care and quality control put into each bullet. Thank you for sharing this tour!
375 ruger was a collaborative effort with hornady and ruger now it is almost impossible to find and $4-$5 a round and you can't complain? All they do is design new calibers that are "better" slow production on the tried and true until everybody jumps on the bandwagon and there will be something better again that cost more making your old calibers cost even more because they are low volume or obsolete local gun shop just told me 30-06 is not a very popular cartridge is why they do not have it in stock but they have 6.5 Creedmoor. Creating a false demand for an otherwise unneeded object to drive up sales
That’s another reason I reload

@@paulosanderson785 Sounds to me like he’s using the brain matter that God gave him. People like him have often been chastised or shunned by the masses throughout history because the masses are the problem, not people like Kevin. It’s unpopular to think outside the box because the people who create and push predatory marketing campaigns via mass media know exactly how to persuade the lemmings into buying into the latest and greatest fad. His reasoning is probably the result of years spent observing and analyzing patterns, thinking and making conclusions .. whereas the average dolt simply consumes whatever the marketing devils deem worthy at the time.
That would be a tour of a lifetime . I wouldn't want to leave for a month , if then . Great job everyone . Did they mention anything about the ammo shortage going on ...?
They are making as much as they can but if people stockpile more than they are using, there will always be a shortfall. Look at the uk, we can get everything except primers.
@@chrisparkin431 that doesn't align with the information others give and hording does not explain lack of being able to find and purchase at a reasonable price . But does align with creating a false shortage to make prices go up . I guess time and price will reveal truth .

Great video and tour! I used to go there often for blemish bullets. And got a tour. I can’t believe the expansion in 15 +/- years. My wife and have used MANY V-Max bullets on prairie dogs and several Jack rabbits to chum in coyotes and feed Burrow Owls.
@@chrisparkin431too bad Hornady didn’t make and mass produce primers. Trying to find LR primers is like trying to find unicorns.
What's sad is because they make this much ammo per day and yet they are stilling jacking the prices up!
The raw materials are costing them more because a lot of it is going to military production and exported to Ukraine/Isreal and whi knows where else. Larger munitions is in the mix too. If you haven't been following the industry several of the European manufacturers have canceled orders to the U.S.. They're stocking up their own country's military requirements. That should indicate to one that the world is in a precarious place.
For two months all the YT channels have been warning of large price increases are coming in 2024.
What a cool place to work! I hope everyone there practices lead exposure safety!
Yeah, if they can remember 🤡
I guess the tour is one way Hornady advertises their ability to be a major government contractor to compete with Federal and Winchester. However due to their growing production capacity, they can never be able to become the leader in manufacturing anything that could be as precise as smaller manufacturers. The only upside about their growth is their bullets being more readily available and being more affordable.
Seems like there is a better cheaper way to make the bullets.
Great stuff,,now could you make primers.??
