Probably one of the most underrated bands of the late 1970's Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers. Made it to New York for Johnny's birthday bash on July 12th. The parks of lower Bowery still echo with the Chinese influence. Much wasted or maybe well defined vacation. Thanks for the video.
I'd have to say the Cramps were one of the most underrated NY bands of the late 70's. Mink de Ville is right up there with them. Next would have to be Wendy O Williams and the Plasmatics.

classic rock, not punk though. NY Dolls and Thunders were glam, Johnny was a bandwagon jumper on the punk scene. The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Clash, Damned, Angelic Upstarts, Sham 69 all had way more attitude and power than the Heartbreakers or Thunders.

That being said I love this song, some good china white (or maybe I dont ;) ) and I got into the music and "that" lifestyle because of being a musician and guys like Thunders, Phil Lynott, Andy McCoy, Nikki Sixx, Cobain and Layne Staley being my idols (all at diff time periods of my 30 year life. Still enjoy them all). Even though some guys live and some dont...alot do. But man...RIP to the ones who dont. The music, footage, and lives these men lived are eternal. It happened and now we can get stories and knowledge from the ones who did, and admire and pay our respects here on RUclips with some nice headphones ;) Cheers.

gil wood ya, i know heroins one wicked drug i’ve never done it myself but from what i’ve all seen and heard it’s pretty fucked and the lifestyle isn’t all that enjoyable.. but ya i will look into getting that book i’m not all much of a reader but when it’s something i am passionate about i am more than willing to look at it, i really enjoy reading up on all the original punks who helped formed the scene and influence up n coming bands. i have steve jones’ lonely boy and “joe strummer and the legend of the clash”. and have been wanting a thunders book but it’s hard with this quarantine going on. and even tho i’m from north america i find the brit punk scene a bit more interesting than the new york scene, although i really enjoy reading on both. the new york scene is very interesting as well. and although most people like hip hop/ rap in my city there’s a small punk rock scene more particularly in the downtown areas/bars/venues. and actually it’s interesting you brought up johnny and jerry’s graves because it’s been a “wish” of mine i guess you could say to fly down to new york and go to their graves within the next few years, and i put the word wish in quotations because it probably isn’t happening anytime soon, i’m a broke ass canadian kid.

However, Ramones would go on to play it in later years. Dee Dee Ramone wanted to write a song about Heroin that was better than Lou Reed's version of his song Heroin. Chinese Rocks was the slang term for Heroin in New York in the 70s coz it came in bags labelled 'Chinese Rocks'
