  • Johnny Thunders & the Oddballs 'Just Another Girl' TV footage at the Hot Point Festival, Lausanne, Switzerland, on Sept. 3 1988. The third gig by the newly-formed Oddballs: Stevie Klasson - guitar, Jamey Heath - sax, Jill Wisoff - bass, Alison Gordy - vocals, Chris Musto - drums. Lyrics: -
Well I'm talking, I'm talking to you
All your girlfriends they fit in my silver, my silver spoon
Because you're just another girl, that's what you are
You're just another girl - pretty but not too smart, not smarter than me
Well you know, yeah, I know
You import your girls from Central Park children's zoo
    Yeah, I'm talking to you
Well you're just another girl, that's what you are
You're just another girl - pretty but not too smart, not smarter than me
Well I'm talking, I'm talking to you
All your girlfriends they fit in my silver, my silver spoon
Because you're just another girl, that's what you are
You're just another girl pretty but not too smart, not smarter than me
Hey! not smarter than me HEY! HEY! HEY!

Remember Johnny Thunders for his Talents Not his Drug Use that's What Johnny Thunders always wanted to be remembered for His Talents as a musician

Jason - Of course. But he will also be remembered as somebody who was a great, friendly, genuine, and also shy guy. And someone who had great taste in clothing, attitude, music, drugs, drink, hairdo, and was very good looking and never sold out. And he never became some poser who's got it all wrong. I love him for all of that and more. He gave me a whole different look on life.

*@Jason Bouskill* Indeed......that's why half of his tunes were about smack......no shame in that......but he shouldn't have been surprised that a lot of his fanbase was fascinated by this slow motion trainwreck going to its inevitable messy ending....The talent and selfconfident swagger he once had was slowly and surely consumed by vast quantities of low grade smack.....Sad story.

REALLY genius? ... there's NO SHAME in being a suicidal smack addict and having NOTHING ELSE TO SAY about life, love and the whole damn thing? ... @@PAULLONDEN Er; "half of his tunes about smack" you say? I don't believe he wrote ONE song about smack. He did sing one, Chinese Rocks, written by Dee Dee Ramone. Walter Lure wrote and sang "Too Much Junkie Business" though Johnny did sing it solo. That's about it, unless you also count drug references One Track Mind - that Walter wrote and sang.

In the Vive Le Rock cover feature out this week, the band say Johnny would always find the energy to make sure he got to gigs on time. It was more the days off that could become a problem.

I saw Johnny for the second and last time , in '89. He actually looks a lot better , here, but his HAIR was a masterpiece , a bad ass Elvis King Creole pomp. I'd hoped he would do more mid - period stuff , like this , but , apart from "In Cold Blood", he mainly did a lot of covers , a few standards from his repertoire and some new material , which wasn't bad. But , it was a pretty lackluster set , tho' his voice had improved , but he barely touched his guitar. We knew it could go this way , tho' I'd heard of much better shows on that tour.

I love it that the Japanese love Thunders so much...! Here in Holland I don't know many Thunders fans, only some fans of my own circle. I bet they're here, but Holland is so tiny, it can't be very much.. But now people around the world are beginning to learn about him since they reissue cd's/lp's, and since the internet, etc... But Thunders frequently did gigs in Japan, he already had an audience there since The N.Y Dolls I think, fantastic.. Arigato!

Look at the docu Looking For Johnny, they stated in his death certificate that he had lymphatic leukemia, and he had not enough methadone, coke, or drink in his blood to die from. Johnny himself knew he had leukemia from around 1988, around the time his daughter was born. But yeah, I also believe that people took advantage of him dying.
