- Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers - Born To Lose (1977).
#JohnnyThunders
Footage from 1976/'77 of Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers with Born To Lose from the single Born To Lose/Chinese Rocks and the album L.A.M.F. (1977). Johnny Thunders (vocals, lead guitar) Walter Lure (vocals, guitar) Billy Rath (bass) Jerry Nolan (drums).
I have to thank Rock singer Robert Caruso for his advice about the footage used, including live footage filmed by RAI (Italian state television) of The Heartbreakers live at The Roxy, in London, 1977, which has never been seen outside of Italy. Robert had wished for this video to be made in loving memory of his friends Johnny Thunders (1952 -1991) and Jerry Nolan (1946 - 1992).

I remember playing this loud to annoy my parents as 14 yr old in 86. They were stuck with Beatles, stones and Neil young.😂😂😂😂😂
Some Beatles and Stones is ok...as for Neil Young...Johnny Lydon is right about him !
This my friends is Rock N Roll
They don't make them like they used to.
Es punk

It's punk rock
Johnny and crew once ruled the rocking world 🏆
Saw him at CBGB’s early 80’s great memories of NYC days
Jerry Nolan one of the most solid and strong punk drummers. Admirable.
NO FATE arte producciones Fuck Yeah!!!
Era una bestia!
He was a fucking animal!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
One of the best power-hitters in the business . Fact.
There was no drummer in that time who was better than Jerry Nolan. He had it all.
@@ludditedrummer9331
Hmm - Even just at CB's itself, he had to contend with Moonie's monster heir apparent Clem Burke - not to mention Billy Ficca and Jay Dee Daugherty.
Never mind casting a wider net out west to guys like DJ Bonebrake (X) and - just a bit later - George Hurley (Minutemen).
And that's just the punk scene.
Nolan was relentless - no doubt. But he had a bunch of first class company, too.
Lucky to hear this played by Thunders live . Small dark club, big energy. R.I.P xxx
Lucky... never saw him... bought tickets twice for London gigs ...one show cancelled ..."illness" ... one show his band played with a good lady vocalist... good gig that one in all fairness...
Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers. From 75 to 77,they were the best rock'n'roll band in the universe.
Without a doubt love thunders n heartbreakers .100% rawk n rawl

@@dalakerdaniel9240 If you mean in rock History, you're right.Sometimes I prefer the New York Dolls(The first two albums),because Thunders guitar parts are phenomenal. With the Heartbreakers,it's ,I quote JT,"the same sound but more together".And Lure and Thunders were perfect, you're right.
The best!
this song is what my life is im born to lose

"I never played punk music."
- Johnny Thunders
He wanted to be hard rock garage band like the 60s but a lot of his lyrics were pretty punk like this song
Yes you did.
😂
On a good night, best rock n roll band in the USA. Totally exciting. Too bad.
muito bom

Jim Carroll
Jerry was a great drummer, not Technic, but with perfect attitude..Pink drums was best..great band, never more exist a band like Heartbreakers..Anarchy tour ,Johnny was a teacher of damned ,Clash and Pistols
Jerry was one of the best drummer ever on top with Nick Knox - Jerry's born in 44 and if he hadn't gave lessons to the guy from Kiss both grew up same neighbourhood

Terrific music. The drummer reminds me of DOA/Social Distortion drummer Chuck Biscuits.
+Larry Niven
Jerry Nolan is one of the most copied drummers in 'punk'.
Larry Niven yeah don't compare.
Larry Niven chuck also played on 3 danzig albums and black flag/Rollins solo
Your comment Is terrific
The drummer Jerry Nolan was only and rare.was a junkie, was a real rocker, was a teacher for group like Pistols and damned ..anarchy tour was a bad tour, delete date and group without experience, but Heartbreakers was fantastic, cool and sound rock and roll, much Better Clash and other..Johnny and Jerry with NY Dolls do a two album with a big label Mercury, was come from too many gig around the world, and was adult respect a Pistols and Clash.. Heartbreakers concert are professional, perfect sound..
Jerry Nolan looks like Iggy Pop when he was a drummer: same f9cking ENERGY! R.I.P. beautiful brothers!
ty skate 3
These and the cramps best ever.
They sound VERY New York Dolls... but I suppose they do have 2 members from NYD.
+tharleyify
Actually, Syl was The Dolls' principal songwriter. John wrote some good songs, though.
Columbo.
@@petercrowley41 No Thunders and David Johansen Johnny talks about it in an interview and if you read the liner Thunders had over twice as many credits as Sylvain. So now.you know after all these years. Being Peter Crowley and running Max's for those years I thought you would know that.
callyharley ...and the other being the Dolls’ distinctively powerful second drummer. ❤️
Underrated like other group of new York, cause junkie Life, but a Gibson sound of Johnny, was too much great, a songs minimal, Waldo, Jerry,Johnny and Billy together was a perfect rockk and roll group
00:12 - 00:21 that Walter Lure walk

Walter lure rip.where is their original album from the mid 1970s that was remastered in the 1980s?
stratosferici e unici yeah,, alle epiche radici del punk rock,,,,,,,,,,,,,, panta stin kardia moi,_ci@o ,
It's a travesty that the Heartbreakers. The royalty of punk rock when they arrived from New York to London for the Anarchy tour. Never made one appearance on British TV (apart from the Tony Wilson interview) and not one single video to the string of singles they released for Track records. That's why they never got the recognition they deserved. And we're forgotten. Every TV program about punk that's appeared on TV over the years have omitted them because there was not one single video. (Shame they never did the OGWT). If the Damned managed to film a video to their debut 'New Rose' single on a cheap budget with one or two cameras in a pub. And edit it and have it ready the following day why couldn't the Heartbreakers? That was their biggest mistake. They had a string of great singles and not one fucking video to promote any of them. Shame. Word of mouth can only get you so far. Their manager Lee Black Childers must have known that was the ticket having previously worked for Mainman & Bowie. I love the Heartbreakers. Rock'n'roll these days means nothing to me but I still listen to the Heartbreakers.
He was the last of the greats.
It's because Johnny spent the whole time trying to cop dope, dude.
@@chrissmith256 Only one thing that I want it’s the only way ;(
@@chrissmith256 so what better to burn out than fade away.
I don't think Whispering Bob woulda had Johnny on the OGWT again.
@@Spectrescup I can't remember when they got rid Whispering Bob but by 1979 Annie Nightingale was presenting it and they had great bands on like the Damned and PIL etc..and she was well into it.
1:52 Nancy!
Pink Ludwig was spectacular
How is there so much footage of Johnny Thunders from this era, but hardly any good footage from other bands? Did NYC clubs just have better access to professional cameras? Because even Hollywood bands you barely get any footage of
Punk rock as fuck
TV show SAS Rouge Heroes brought me here
