Man, just those TWO songs would be worth the price of the ticket if you ask me. Especially ticket prices back then! Thank you to the person who uploaded this! 👍🏼🤘🏼🖤
Barry Jones is one of the best guitarists who ever accompanied Thunders. He was just perfect in that line-up. I wish they'd recorded something in the studio....
Was fortunate enough to catch New York Dolls at First Ave. in Minneapolis in 2006. Of course by then it was only David Jo, Sylvain and Killer. But they tore the roof off the Purple Palace!
I saw Johnny Thunders way back in the late 80s at the Cabooze Bar in Mpls. Johnny and I got into an argument/fight in the parking lot and I hit him over the head with my Vintage Models Suitcase that happened to have a bottle of booze in it! He started to go dowwwn as security rushed into the fray. Note I was a twenty- something 110 lb girl then. Craaazy times in Mpls back then! I lived at the Entry, First Ave, and the local tavern the CC Club. Really cool times.
I think its been released under 3 different titles or so. Mine was called "Thunders, Kane and Nolan : You cant put your arms around a memory". My CD from the gig is called eve of destruction, so you can probably find it under quite a few names. The gig is from 87 :)
Bjarnarr thanks very much mate! I'll have a look under these names! I own a few by him.. But a lot of the time he's gouching out or seems pissed.. But he seems pretty straight headed here.
MisterCritch I know what you mean! I have like 20 cds/bootlegs from him. In some, he's out there.. . However in others, like this.. He's awesome, like few others. Johnny was all about the spirit, the attitude in the music. The guy really had soul, and when he DID pull it off, he did it very well.
*The real father / godfather of punk rock.* Johnny and the New York Dolls started it. Johnny and the Heartbreakers formalized it. Punk rock = rockabilly & surf rock with distortion and piles of heroin and cocaine.
I was at that show. Sad to say, it wasn't very good. As you can see from the people stage left, they're pretty disappointed. There are a few people bouncing around, but some people will do the cretin hop to anything.
THAT was Johnny at his best. Absolutely electrifying.
Such killer Rock'n'Roll sound.
RIP Johnny & Rock'n'Roll
no any future rock bands can repeat this unique sound
yea.. kasabian can. it's just dirty rock n roll. done well
@Jordan Mcpartland: You're obviously having a laugh, ain 't you? Kasabian? Kardashian, more like!
I can I can play every slide he does
@@bluesjasonb I talk about rock bands, not individuals
Thanks Dee Dee Ramone ❤️
johnny took whatever it was and boiled it down to pure rock n roll
It went through his arteries first though
