Just want to say that I appreciate the effort you put into these reviews. My fav camera gear reviewer on RUclips by a distance. Really tempted by the X-Pro 3.
I wish they’d stop discontinuing film, but I understand these are business decisions. I think they have the most ‘organic’ approach to digital photography though.
X pro 3 definitely a winner with its new design and features, the new screen tilt feature is excellent as is the evf ,fuji make the best cameras for user experience and quality.
Hi, great video. I just purchased a new X Pro 3 today. Can I ask about your X Pro 3 neck strap. What model/style brand is it? i really like. The OEM Fuji strap is.........ok.....but I want something stylish.
The front command dial from what I know is now non-clickable. That said are you able to select ISO with it (or with the rear command dial) if you don't wanna use the twisting ISO dial on the top plate?

shout out to Chris Meets Chris... as a video producer in Atlanta, I can appreciate the quality, and the edit. Most people don't notice how walking and playing b ball can be cinematic simply by editing basic things like your feet hitting the ground and the "swoosh" of the b-ball player to the piano or snares in a track. A++ for effort!
the eye cup has been redesigned, so it's easier to get your eyes closer to the front back pane of the HVF. So the opening into the HVF is bigger, not the magnification. I hope that makes sense?
I do too, but I think Fujifilm considers it a sales failure. I think it's not just the LCD, but they removed too much for the sake of simplicity. The LCD was the icing on the cake for many.
Hi thanks for your review! Sorry, have you had chance to try the 18mm (27mm framelines)? I've been concerned about this. As far as I know now the ovf has a 27mm coverage area which make this pointless while using the 18mm. It's my favourite focal length so far.
Wonderful review! I am the x pro 2 shooter and yes, Fuji succeeded to surprise me in a very positive way! I am planning to get the x pro 3 (dura silver)!
Love your reviews! I’d love to get your opinion on the XPRO for the work I do. I’m a professional headshot and portrait photographer, in a small studio and with natural light. I have an XT3 and most recently, a X100V, and I’ve fallen seriously in love with the rangefinder style of the X100. So much so, that I’m considering selling the XT3 to get the XPRO3. I’d love your thoughts on that. I actually like the idea of the “hidden” LCD, and I love the connection with my subject when I look through a rangefinder style camera. It’s intimate and I can feel the camera get out of the way. It feels good to have an eye on my subject. I have no problem with the XT3, it’s great and reminds me of the old Nikon FE that I trained on as a teen. I just feel a deep connection to rangefinder style. I trained on film, shooting since I was 13, and something about the analog feel of the XPRO is calling to me, but unsure how it would be for professional headshots and portraits. Would you feel confident to have the XPRO as a main portrait and even a studio camera? Could it replace my XT3? I also very occasionally shoot family portraits and commercial portraits. My work is all about people and the human connection to clients. Thanks for any thoughts! I trust your expertise.
As long as you don't need HDMI out, the X-Pro3 is great. It's basically the same as both the X-T3 and X100V in terms of sensor and processor, although the firmware is closer to the X100V than the X-T3. Since it's the same sensor and processor as your current workflow, I don't see why the X-Pro3 won't work out as your primary camera :-)
@@bigheadtaco thank you for the reply! Quick question, what’s the difference between the firmware on X100V vs XT3? In terms of firmware, is one better than the other?
@@babyboy1971 the X-T3 and X-T30 has the oldest of the firmware for the 4th generation cameras. Instead of giving it a firmware update, Fujifilm decided to discount both at the end of the sales cycle, which was disappinting. Things like new film simuations and other advanced features are not on the X-T3 or X-T30, although they're more bonuses than critical updates. The X100V just has the newer version of the firmware.
I didn’t really think of it until I actually had it in my hand. That’s why it’s best not to judge a feature until you have the camera in hand. That’s what I’ve learned when reviewing gear. It might look one way when you see it on a screen, and another when you’re shooting with it.
Does this beast continuous focus in low light better than other fuji cameras. The -6ev focus claim is crazy. I am used to using my xt-2 that has unusable low light continuous focus. Thank you
Since I actually use the OVF I discovered a problem: The frame lines and focus box do not return to the neutral infinity position after shutter button release.like it did on all the prior X100’s and X-Pro’s. This is NOT a new feature. While the focus box does not return the actual focus point returned to the center of the screen. Test it. I did. Please help me get this fixed because if Fuji does not get complaints I get the feeling after talking to them they will not fix this or at least give us the option to set it up the way were used to.
Call me crazy but I would much prefer this camera with no LCD screen at all like the Leica MD (but keeping the new little screen on the back) and with a straight L shape angle on its right side like the X100f. I love my XPro2 but this design going lower towards the right is something that really bothers me a lot. Other than that, no need to change this camera’s design anymore. Correct me if I’m wrong but I feel that Fuji is attempting to touch a niche market (and I think they should) however, they are doing it in a subtle, shy and almost afraid way. I believe they would be much more innovative if they make the changes I suggest above so the customers would appreciate even more the X-Pro3. They could just keep the production and the price of the X-Pro2 for those who really need or want the LCD and offer a new and really innovative, challenging, desired and special X-Pro3 (with those changes I mentioned) for the, let’s say, different level photographers, a different breed... The way Fuji is doing it now will scare the average photographers (because the screen is weird) and make the more experienced ones skeptical about the camera because the screen is necessary (almost useless) for them. I currently own a good deal of Fujifilm cameras and lenses (X100S, X100T, X100F, X-T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-Pro2, X-H1, XF-14mm f2.8, XF-16mm f2.8, XF-23mm f2, XF-35mm f2, XF-50mm f/2, XF-10-24mm f4, XF-16-55mm f2.8, XF-50-140mm f2.8 and XF-100‑400mm f/4.5‑5.6) so I believe I can say that I know Fujifilm products enough and that I have been observing how Fuji progresses in its camera lineup and that’s how I feel about it. Fuji is proposing that this camera is for more experienced or purist photographers, right? This kind of photographers usually spend their time setting up their cameras before the shooting and don’t waste their time looking at the screen, sweeping, changing unnecessary settings as if shooting with a phone. The X-Pro 3 with no LCD at all could be setup prior to the shooting and when necessary changes are needed it could be done with the dials and bottoms at camera because they are more than enough to change the setting we usually need when shooting (ISO, exp. comp., ss, film s, and aperture on the lens). Really, why do we really need the LCD for the kind of photography that they are advertising the camera for? And this little appeal saying that the camera can be used at waste level is BS. It sounds like the designer team was needing some extra excuse to convince others about the design during the meeting at Fuji and someone who was quiet all the time just said: “look! It also can be used on waste level for more discrete shooting! Like a TLR CAMERA! Isn’t it cool?” It doesn’t look like it was previously thought... If someone really need the LCD, then the right camera should be the X-T3. I thing Fuji is taking a “strange” and risky move. Or maybe its just me being crazy... lol
How's the rubber ring around the eyepiece of the viewfinder? On my Xpro2 it fell off when pulling the camera out of my bag. I replaced it again and it later fell off. Does the diopter lock by any chance?
Great reviews as always! I like your approach at describing the camera, your passion is incredible! I would like to know what camera strap is that on the Xpro3 and what shutter button it is...I found many online but couldn't find that specific one.... Anyway, keep on doing what you're doing! Many thanks!
Great review man! I would just like to ask about your xpro3. I recently got it and I noticed that sometimes, even if im in single frame mode, when I take a series of photos where I continuous click the shutter button(esp. the last click where my finger stays pressed on the shutter button), some of the clicks give me multiple photos instead of just one making it seem that I get random burst around 2-4 shots from one click. But sometimes it’s kinda random. Not sure if I got a faulty copy or the shutter is just too sensitive or if I missed something on the menu. I made sure I have same settings with my xt4 and this issue doesnt exist on my xt4. I’m really worried now cos I sold a bunch of my gear just to fund the dura black and your reviews made me go for it. Hope you can help me somehow. Thanks.
Thank you for the enthusiasm is put towards your reviews. I sadly will not buy the 3 due to the lack of d-pad and no graphite finish, as I don’t like the others.
Any hope for curves and classic negative on the XT3? Have your connections made any suggestions? I want these features, but the XPro doesn’t fit my workflow.
Excellent intro! I haven't seen any fuji commercials but that certainly is a candidate and then the segue to the studio with the 11fps comment, so funny! ;)
Great video! I’m sold on the X-Pro3, I shoot with the X-Pro2 and Olympus Pen-F... I usually hide the screen on the Pen-F so it shouldn’t take a lot of adjusting. That strap is a thing a beauty, where can I get one? In South Africa?
5:51 that's what's unclear to me, are the video limitations for technical or crippleware reasons. I don't care if fuji doesn't want me using this for video, I'd argue that a side mounted evf is good for video for the same reason's it's good for stills
Can you buy the lens that color? My 50 f2 is a nasty silver. And it doesn't look black like my 23 f2. It's like a cool graphite grey black. Couldn't see it in Google. Would love to paint my 50 if there is a way as I now leave the hood on the body to hide it.
Found it- lens available just when buying in an X Pro kit. Found a video comparing the graphite and silver 23mm. The silver looks disgusting next to it, especially with the horrific black hood on. At least the 50's hood can be used to hide the silver somewhat.
It is referred as a photographer’s camera; however, there are many types of photographers, such as landscape, portraits, products, architecture, wildlife, travel, sports, journalists or street photographers,. I hope that you comment on which type of photography this camera is good for, which one is not.
As a leica user I would have bought this in a heartbeat if it was brass with black paint for the weight and because I'm superficial. I probably would have completely switched systems TBCH
Fujifilm initially considered brass, but they said it made the camera too heavy with no real advantage to strength or durability. So there is a prototype floating around somewhere at Fujifilm HQ with a brass X-Pro3 :-)
I'm surprised that you praised the OVF/EVF hybrid so much but decided to not talk about the OVF at all. The OVF is actually worse than the XPro2. It has single magnification with no framing guide larger than 23mm. Also if you use a long lens like the 90mm, you will be composing the shot in a tiny stamp-size box in the middle. This wasn't a problem on the Xpro2 since it has 2 magnifications. For the camera that boasts to aim primarily for street photography, this gimped OVF is very disappointing.
Ah man, I'm really tempted to get this. The classic neg profile looks incredible! I rarely shoot digital but I would if I had this and it would still double as my scanner. I'm using a Sony A7II right now and it's the antithesis of the Xpro 3, just an awful user camera...
I have a strong dilemma... I currently shoot with an XT100, so anything I get would be an upgrade. I was thinking on doing a bigger investment, fell in love with the X100V but wanted also an interchangeable lens camera, so I was thinking on an XT3+X100V but man I do love the looks of the Xpro3. Xpro3+X100V is kind of redundant though, so I was just thinking on getting an Xpro3 and save money by not getting the X100V and maybe getting a lens or something.
Great Review, I like the looks of the camera but I've never liked the form factor of the XPro bodies, I'm an X-T/X-H guy. I really hope they add that new film simulation to the X-T3, I love the looks of it!
Would you recommend this camera for event photography? I’ve been using a 6D for 4 years now and it’s been a solid camera, but I only use it for events and portraits, but I don’t use it for any street or travel photography cause it’s big and ugly to carry around (too noticeable). So I’m thinking of selling it all and moving to the x-pro3 because it feels like I could do almost everything with it, and also, I love shooting film when I travel. I love how film slows you down and I’d like to see if I this camera can emulate that experience, as I’m also someone that tends to overshoot.
Classic Negative looks dope Take. Plus you can still fall back on Classic Chrome. It’s funny I almost never shoot anything other than Classic Chrome and ACROS. I should maybe try Pro Neg’s again. I used to love them back in my X-Pro1 days. Sigh, I may need to sell my X-E3 and preorder the DURA Titanium.
As usual great review. I own the x pro 2 and was hesitant about the x pro 3, but I think I could get used to it. Eventually I’ll upgrade, but for now sticking with my xpro2.
Yes I’m curious how the black paint on the standard black will wear with the titanium showing through. I hope it’s not an anodization black paint. That comes off horribly.
Yay, Pro Neg Standard is my mainstay ;) That's a promising sign for Classic Negative - I hadn't been especially interested in that, actually, so I'm glad I came here first to find out. I'm so excited to move back to an X-Pro - the previous one made too many compromises, and this one addresses them. I had hoped it would be 5th-gen, though hadn't expected that (I gather they'd save that for the X-H2). I'd love to see the submonitor display the histogram or equivalent. The only thing is pricing this against an X-T30 when I'm trying to keep costs down. The Titanium is a big drawcard for justifying it as a long-term all-terrain piece.
That's on point "if you don't like using the OVF and prefer using the EVF, then probably this camera is not for you". Why would you pay more (than X-T3) for an OVF/EVF that you'll only use EVF? I would then presume the X-E3 was not cool enough for you to use.
22:27 "What was the difference between the X-T, X-H, and X-Pro series" before this camera. Erm, the body design. PRODUCT SEGMENTATION IS BAD FOR EVERYONE. Would you have had a worse camera if the 10 bit and 4k60 was there? The IBIS? Meanwhile, I can't switch to fuji now, because I'd need more than one body to replace my current camera. Much as I love the ovf, the camera isn't worth it like this. I think some folks need to recognize that photo and video are equally valid ways of documenting the world, so getting all snobby about 'pure photography' just lets fuji do what a japanese camera conpany is always tempted to do.
@@michel559 Unfortunately my Fuji died a couple of weeks after that comment. I currently have an X-pro2 and my X-Pro1 as a nice relic. Greetings from Panama ✌️
@@michel559 It's good to hear that your friend enjoyed my country, and of course I like the X-pro2, for me was a good update for things like the HSS, but I have to admit that there is something in the simplicity of the X-Pro1 that still appeals to me and I miss.
@@iurqlla yeah there is something to say about the simplicity of the X-Pro1. Less is more often times! I am still happy with the XP1 and the two lenses I have 👍🏻.

8:21 agree with that, and some other buttons were in funny places on the pro 2. biggest issue was having a button right of the thumb. Losing the dpad just means losing custom buttons, which matters on a modern digital camera

@@ctruett5 If that's so, then the XPro 3 just became even more attractive. Duratect is super stuff.
what strap are you rocking there taco ?
Barton 1972 Military Braided Strap in muddy green
Awesome video my friend! Nice and cinematic intro. I could learn from this for my channel 😎📷🤙🏻
Thanks. It helps working with a videographer ;-)
5:51 that's what's unclear to me, are the video limitations for technical or crippleware reasons. I don't care if fuji doesn't want me using this for video, I'd argue that a side mounted evf is good for video for the same reason's it's good for stills
Less efficient heat dispersing
Very nice review! I would love to get one :) What camera strap you have on the x-pro3 ? Looks georgeous...
Yes I would love if the silver lens was less ‘bright’ and closer to the graphite.
Hi what brand of strap is that?
Barton 1972
Thanks
It is referred as a photographer’s camera; however, there are many types of photographers, such as landscape, portraits, products, architecture, wildlife, travel, sports, journalists or street photographers,. I hope that you comment on which type of photography this camera is good for, which one is not.
Street, yo
Does everyone in North America pronounce chassis wrong?
great video as always
what?? 6:58 I guess I could use hotshoe to pc sync, but why? Don't they know this line is popular among fashion photographers
What brand is your strap?
Barton 1972 braided Military Strap in Muddy Green
Ah man, I'm really tempted to get this. The classic neg profile looks incredible! I rarely shoot digital but I would if I had this and it would still double as my scanner. I'm using a Sony A7II right now and it's the antithesis of the Xpro 3, just an awful user camera...
Excellent. Looking forward for your full review vdo.
Nice watch you are wearing 👌🏻 Excellent content ! Thanks !
I really wanna see fujifilm make a cine still look!!
Fujifilm has yet again released another winner!! Design, specs and quality are just pure pleasure to use .
$200 for a coating? hmm.. I actually like the look of a scratched, well used, camera.
Random, but what the strap you’re using on that. Great review & loving your breakdown of who the x-pro3 is aimed at.
Looks like the Barton1972 Braided Military Muddy Green
wasssup gerlfriend ! Phuji
Ha ha, thanks for visiting. Sorry I’m going to miss you in NYC. I guess I’m not cool enough to know about this show
@@bigheadtaco everyone got a pre production Xpro3 to use but me apparently......sooooo im not cool enough to be considered to use one either ROFL
PHUJI!!
Theoria Apophasis you need to move to Canada. If I was in the US, I don’t think Fujifilm USA would even look at a small brand like mine
@@bigheadtaco too cold brosefus , i cant cope
Oke now im sold im going with the dura silver , god its so pretty
I have an XT3. No need to look further.
You just fixed Adobe's incapability to handle RAF-files. Just export TIFF straight from camera. Easy!
Is the X-Pro3 the first Fuji to offer the ability to export as a TIFF straight from camera?
I'm in love 😍 (X-Pro1 user)
Did you update the the 3? I still shoot my X-Pro1.
Cheers from Switzerland
@@michel559 Unfortunately my Fuji died a couple of weeks after that comment. I currently have an X-pro2 and my X-Pro1 as a nice relic. Greetings from Panama ✌️
@@iurqlla oh no. Bad luck man. Do you like the XP2? A friend of mine was in Panama last year and loved it 👍🏻
@@michel559 It's good to hear that your friend enjoyed my country, and of course I like the X-pro2, for me was a good update for things like the HSS, but I have to admit that there is something in the simplicity of the X-Pro1 that still appeals to me and I miss.
@@iurqlla yeah there is something to say about the simplicity of the X-Pro1. Less is more often times! I am still happy with the XP1 and the two lenses I have 👍🏻.
You put good energy in your video ! nice
Don't you tried for finding the good points of the nonsense screen?
Call me crazy but I would much prefer this camera with no LCD screen at all like the Leica MD (but keeping the new little screen on the back) and with a straight L shape angle on its right side like the X100f. I love my XPro2 but this design going lower towards the right is something that really bothers me. Other than that, no need to change this camera design anymore.
I wish their film simulations looked actually like film. Still looks very digital and clinical to me.
Great intro!
8:21 agree with that, and some other buttons were in funny places on the pro 2. biggest issue was having a button right of the thumb. Losing the dpad just means losing custom buttons, which matters on a modern digital camera
I like your videos.
3:57 glad to hear its mostly magnesium, weight matters
